Hey, warm up, lovely low, welcome to lovely Las Vegas for Coast C for Coast Cuts, Coupes with myself, Greg Eips Peterson PERSON. Now part of the Beeson Family Podcasts. We've got an excellent podcast for you as joining me in segment number two. We are going to be joined by Tristan Freeman. He does absolutely incredible work over at Buston Brackett ORG. We're going to be touching upon a lot of different topics with him. What to Make Out of Kansas now that they're bringing in Rylan Griffin, now that they've got Hunter Dickinson back in the fold, how we should be taking a look at a team like Indianathat I absolutely love the talent that they're bringing in, but have a few question marks with the coach of Mike Woodson PERSON, and if you're an Indiana ORG fan, I'm sorry, but I do think that it is a fair question, and I'm going to be taking a look at just how teams are going about the transfer portal right now with knowing that there's a May 1st deadline out there for all transfers. It used to be just underclassmen. Now it's grad transfers and underclassmen and we're going to be taking a look at some of the early winners of the transfer portal as well. In the final segment, we had a pretty rambunctious stay of college basketball in terms of player movement. So we're going to give you guys all in the news and notes that we did see in collegebasketball on Friday. And if you do have a question, comment, segment I we're going to give you guys all in the news and notes that we did see in college basketball on Friday. And if you do have a question, comment, segment I'd be able to have you for this podcast. You do have one of two ways we'll fred those in. First one is my Twitter slash X timeline at j. j.8.9-9-19-1. Keep in mind lordsium, Amy PERSON does not matter. So as per usual, please you send these into the timeline. The other ways, find an Apple ORG podcast review. If you rate this podcast five stars, it is very much appreciate them from there. You're able to fire on whatever you'd like to hear on this podcast via that five starreview. And I do think that it is very good just to lead things off. That these teams have been a little bit quicker in being able to bring guys in the transfer pole. Now, with that May 1st deadline, that doesn't mean that a guyhas to pick his next destination by May 1st. They just need to declare their intentions for entering in other scenarios for portal. So a guy could declare on May 1st and he could be in there until like August 1st. Now you probably don't want a guy in there until August 1st. We saw a lot of these late transfers not be out workout. Now we saw one in Cam Spencer PERSON work out veryvery well for Yukon, but one of these didn't necessarily work out the world's greatest, so something to be mindful of there. But I do think that it should be putting a little bit more of a premium on these teams that they do bring in their guys early. They know what they've got right away because team chemistry, it is bigger in this day and age of college basketball really than ever before. And we saw that play out the last few seasons like Memphis ORG brought in a lot of guyslate, Washington GPE brought in, something like a poem bouquet in the process again. You've got that outlier of Cam Spencer joining Yukon ORG a little bit later on in the process, and he was absolutely tremendous, but it's not like they were adding wholesale pieces late. It was just the one missing piece that they were able to get late as well. So I do think that that's something that you do want to be mindful of as we go through the offseason. Timing can be sometimes key with these transfers, and the best time to get Tristan Freeman PERSON on is any time because he does such great workover at Bustin ORG brackets. And it's good to join me next. Right here on, Costco, Soups with myself, Greg Gibbs-Peters PERSON, and now apart with a decent daily podcast. What's up?

Speaker 16657.62s - 730.04s

It's Tristan Freeman PERSON. He does absolutely amazing work over at Bustin Brackett's ORG taking a look at this great game that we all know and love. He has hard at work all 12 months out of the year. Right now, he's doing a great job scouring what we're all getting in the transfer portal. Did a nice job, piecing together what we all got in the coaching carousel as well, and he is very much committed to making the 2024-25 season as successful as it can be.You're able to follow them on Twitter slash Xad Hoops ORG on 351 all together. And Tristan PERSON, always pleasure my friend. Thank you. Yeah, thank you, Greg PERSON. I appreciate it. I appreciate you, Tristan PERSON.And Tristan, no shortage of guys coming off the board in the last week or so. And certainly I've had a lot of intrigue. But I feel like the most intriguing move that we've seen over the last two or so weeks in college basketball is not a transfer. But rather the fact that Hunter Dickinson is going to be going back to Kansas ORG. And with everything that has happened with Kansas over the last few weeks, with being able to bring in Zeke Mayo PERSON, which I thought was a very solid get, with them being able to even go outthere this weekend, adding the gentleman from Alabama GPE, who I think that he's going to be able to make a nice impact for the scene. They already bring in AJ Store and let's bring it on the name, Ryan Griffin PERSON, so they're getting from Alabama all night. Take a look at this off season for Kansas ORG and couldn't have gone much better for them to this point.

Speaker 17730.04s - 792.66s

It was one of those decisions that was quiet, but considering there was just a lack of. He didn't come up from over there felt like he was always going to come back the whole time. I mean, they had a disappointing end to his seasonlosing the round of 32 despite being the big off offseason pickups. I think him coming back with a revamped loaded back court just makes sense. And considering if they added another talented guard in Riley Griffin from Alabama GPE, it's just hard not to have them as a preseason number one team. It's going to take someone else getting some huge pickups of their own to try toovertake them. But again, you know, just because you have all this talent, it's not guaranteed to work out. I think everyone's wondering how the minutes is going to work out for all these players, because even though you lose McCuller and Furphy, you add it about four guards who's going to be looking for those minutes as well, and someone's going to get left out. So we'll see if all of them even signed there, because who knows, if they one of them starts to feel like they might be the hot manned outand ultimately go back into the portal.

Speaker 16792.66s - 819.64s

Yep, that is something that we have seen every single year, and it's always something of very much intrigue as well. And how does that work, by the way, just because it is a deadline of May 1st, I believe now for all transfers. We knew that that was going to be the case for underclassmen. Looks like graduate transfers, they do need to hit that deadline as well. But as we know at the NCAA over the last few seasons, they say, oh, we are going to have this deadline, and enough at times they don't necessarily stick to that deadline.

Speaker 17819.64s - 881.62s

You know, to slightly defend the NCAA ORG, I think some of it's been taken out of their hands by recent judge rulings because after what happened in West Virginia with Jose Perez PERSON and others, you know, players suing to be eligible, sort of forced their hand. I do think that, considering that the portal is going to literally close after May 1st, guys can't transfer. So if you got a decision to make it now in the next few days, and there's still going to be some big names that come. Still, what, over, like, a thousand players who are still uncommitted. And there's a whole bunch of rock spots for everyone. I think one impact outcome from this is that you'll have teams adding players but won't lose anyone because guys can't hit the portal. So for teams, you know, unexpectedly adds more players than expected, it could lead to some hurt feelings of guys who are going to be't hit the portal. So if a team's unexpectedly adds more players than expected,it could lead to some hurt feelings of guys who are going to be stuck on the bench. And if that happens, team chemistry could definitely be something to watch as a storyline because it certainly affected a few teams for thosewho are in the weeds of following the sport from behind the scenes.

Speaker 16881.88s - 941.88s

Yep, absolutely. And I do think that that is going to be having a big impact and something to watch out for in the coming months. It's joining me on the show. We do have Tristan Freeman doing an absolutely excellent workover at Bustin Brackett's ORG, and he's joining me right here on Cusco Soups ORG.And we were talking about it with Hunter Dickinson, the fact that he is returning to school. And I take a look at some of these moves. And I do think that they are some of the biggest of impact, because right now we all want to buzz about these big giant transfers we all want to be taking a look at oh who's the new shiny toy going on over to like Ole Miss ORG who by the way I believe has had a verygood just transfer portal process here to say the least but that's that how much do you take a look at these guys that are actually returning to school because I do feel like the model for a lot of these scenes that have been successful is much like what you've had with Yukon ORG where they bring in a few nice pieces in the transfer portal, they bring in a few nice top flight recruits. And we did see that from them on Friday as well, but they do try to be able to retain some of their own while being able to fill in via the transfer portal rather than have the transfer portalbe an end-all be-all.

Speaker 17942.06s - 1017.18s

There was a stat that proved very relevant of teams who added seven transfers, all not being at-large caliber. I think MC State ORG ended up being the exception because of their miracle run. But basically all the teams that just had a whole bunch of transfers all underachieve, and look, part of it is that it's just hard for new players to fit in systems in their first year. And I think Arkansas ORG and Eric Musselmanwas a great example. We're going to have a lot more teams who fill up, you know, six, seven plus guys. And it's going to be interesting to see. And then when you add the fact that, you know, conference realignment has around 10 new teams at the power conference level alone, there's going to be some adjustment periods to make there. I think Houston and BYU made it easy looking at Big 12 ORG, but who knows, maybe it will be harder, especially for teams like Arizona State and Utah ORG who's going to have a whole bunch of newcomers to the roster. So ideally, if you have enough roster retention where you sort of know what you're going to do and you can just add a couple of pieces, then now set you up well, at least early on. But again, you know, if you find an elite player out of nowhere that can change the world for you, like Adolton Connect at Tennessee ORG, then that alone will make you a contender.

Speaker 161017.48s - 1019.86s

Yep, I do think that that is so well put by you.

Speaker 171019.96s - 1023.44s

And I do think that that is really the way that we should be taking a look at things.

Speaker 161023.44s - 1059.46s

And I know that you were talking about a little bit before Kansas ORG, most likely being that number one overall team when it comes to the start of the season. But where do we have to put Yukon ORG as of right now? Because there's always the Rick Flair mentality of in order to beat the man, you've got to beat the man. And I was alluding to it.Liam McNeely, a top 20 recruit, he decided that he's going to be going to Yukon ORG. And as we know, Yukon is probably not going to be adding like seven or eight guys in the transfer portal. They're going to be losing some of the guys like Donovan Klingin PERSON and company. But I look at Yukon ORG once again, and I do feel like that's just a program that in general, even if they don't have a lot of pickups, you just give them the benefit of the doubt at this point.

Speaker 171059.46s - 1064.68s

Yeah, I mean, that's literally what I and everyone else who did, you know, wait truly top 25 rankings there.

Speaker 161064.78s - 1076.28s

I mean, we all had Yukucon on the top 10, just while knowing that they were going to lose four starters because Don McClengen and Stavon Castle PERSON looked like lottery picks. And without knowing, who else they were going to add,

Speaker 171076.28s - 1117.8s

you still just figure, well, the pieces they had were good and don't just find the way. You bring in Terrace Reed, who is starting center in Michigan ORG, and now you got Liam McNeely, five-star wing. They're slowly on their way to be in top 10 caliber again. And look, all teams and coaches get that boost when you make at least a final four and beyond.Considering they're now back-to-back titles, they're going to get probably a five to ten ranking push just because of that. So if they get Kobe Brea PERSON to date and transfer, who left the nation in three-point shooting, it's just going to be hard to see them not in the top 10, especially when you just have now going to have so many teamswho may be talented on paper, but still have a ton of questions themselves.

Speaker 161118.22s - 1158.68s

Oh, absolutely. And I'm so glad that you're bringing that up because I want to get your thoughts on Indiana ORG. Because you look at Luke Goody going on over there over the weekend. I think that that's going to be very solid for them. As we know, they're bringing in Umar Paulo PERSON.That's such a nice addition for them. Miles Rice PERSON, you're able to go down the list. And Indiana ORG, if you look at the raw talent and the raw talent itself, this is one of the best transfer portal halls without question that we've seen in college basketball this far. But how do you take a look at this Indiana ORG team as of right now? Because I still think that they're a little bit thin in terms of their outside shootingand a couple of that with Indiana ORG, just like we give the benefit of the doubt to some coaches, I still really need to see it to believe it from Mike Woodson PERSON.

Speaker 171158.86s - 1225.78s

As great of a pickup as Omar Balo PERSON is, he's actually a worse offensive player than Cleo Ware PERSON and a front court that already didn't match. I love McKenzie and Baco if you played the four, but with Malik Runeu also back, he's going to be playing a three. So those problems are still going to emerge. And while Ken and Carlisle and Miles Rice are probably upgrades over Galloway, Leal, and Xavier Johnson PERSON, those guys struggled to shoot as well. And there's a lot of good defenses in the Big Ten. So this could be a team where they could be very vulnerable to, you know, 420 shooting nights, and that's good enough to lose. And it'll be interesting to see how much better they will be defensively. So I'm with you. I do want to see it to believe it, but I do think that they just have much morescorn deaf and probably got better defensively compared to last year. And they weren't too bad last year. I think they just had such an awful start with those near losses, the bad teams, and the metrics look awful, but they still were a 500 team in league play and they still were compared overall. So even just a marginal improvement should have them in the tournament mix.

Speaker 161226.24s - 1273.48s

Yep, absolutely. And I do think that they should be able to ascend in that big 10. There's no question about it. The disbursement of talent is much better for Indiana ORG. But I do think that it's also still fair to have question marks with them. As joining me on the show, we do have Tristan Freeman who does great work over at Boston Brack ORG.It's joined me on Coast Coast Soops ORG. And as long as we are on the topic, I was just mentioning it. With Yukon ORG, you give them the benefit of the dough. We all know that Dan Hurley PERSON is going to be able to do a tremendous job with his team. We know that he's going to be able to figure it out. And with Mike Woodson PERSON, it's a guy that we need to see it to believe it from.Or a few other coaches that you either look at and you say, yes, I am willing to give him the benefit of the dough. Maybe they're not bringing in a ton of talent, but I just have faith in that coach. Or maybe the opposite of where, even though they're bringing in a lot of talent, you still have some question marks and you need to see it to believe it from that coach.

Speaker 171273.72s - 1321.36s

I think BYU is Kevin Young PERSON, who's the newest coach among the power conference level, has done a good job retaining talent. Richie Saunders and Dowenhall PERSON coming back is huge for him. You know, the fact that, you know, he's able to make a good sell on the returning guys is important, especially for a BYU ORG team that's notvery easy to get players to want to transfer for it. So far, so good on his end, and you look at Mark Pope, getting Lamont Butler PERSON is a good player. I am interested if he's going to be a starter. And if he is at the SEC ORG level for one of the biggest programs, he's not an elite score. So I'm curious on what Mark Pope PERSON's going to do. It's been slow roster building from him to this point. If he doesn't pick it up in the next week with some big name commitments, then, you know, we might have to wonder how good the roster will be next season.

Speaker 161321.72s - 1364.68s

And I think that you bring up such a good point with that as well. With the transfer portal cutoff date being May 1st. How much is there more of a sense of urgency to be able to get these guys in by late May, early June? Because we recall last offseason, there were some guys rolling in in July. We saw a lot of guys rolling in late in the process. And a lot of those teams, they just didn't have the world's greatest results, at least. Kansas State the last two years, they went late in the transfer portal. Now, two years ago, it worked out really well.Last year, it did not. We were called Memphis last year. They were able to get some ads very, very late. And as a matter of fact, in season with the Kwan Tomlin PERSON, I don't think we'll be seeing that this season. But that said, how much do you think that there's a sense of urgency for getting these guysin the building as quickly as possible this offseason?

Speaker 171364.94s - 1427.22s

Yeah, I think a big part of it is the fact that Kentucky ORG and Arkansas two teams with a lot of room and a lot of resources and you can include St. John's ORG and this as well, those teams have a lot of spots to fill. And you know that they're eventually going to do it. So if you're a team who's worried, who's going to have to get eight guys, you want to get as many as possible so that you're not scrimming. Because of how many guys are going to or in the portal, there's still plenty of talentout there to get, even if it's not your first or second tier option. But I think you just don't want it to be late in the middle, late May, and you still got so many spots. I think the ones that can just fill it up and then focus on the last couple of fits, especially once the money starts drying up and guys realize they're not going to get a huge payday, so they just got to go wherever they can, then you can hopefully get a steal there. But I think the teams that's been filling up their rosters is a good idea because even with the portal closing, guys still have the leverage that's out there available, and some teams can start to get desperate.

Speaker 161427.58s - 1484.42s

Absolutely. I think that that is so key. And then I do want to ask you on that front as well, just in terms of coaches trying to find guys be able to fit their system, because we have seen a few teams that have been able to do so. Like St. Louis GPE, for example, I think that they've done an amazing job, obviously, with Josh Shirts bringing over a few St. Louis guys, headlined by Robbie Avala and Isaac Swope PERSON.I mean, that's very big for them. But how do you take a look at a school like Vanderbilt where Mike Barrington comes in and absolutely love what he did at James Masson PERSON. But he brings him a lot of guys from a little bit of a slower system like Tyler Nicoll, MJ Collins PERSON. We're from Virginia Tech, Devin McLaughlin, over at Boston College, Grant Huffman, over at Davidson ORG, Jason Edwards at North Texas ORG. How do you take a look at some of these coaches that it does feel like perhaps they're straying away from what made them so successful. I might be trying to turn over a newleaf in terms of the tempo slash style because I think that that sometimes can be a little bit detriment to these coaches as well. And it becomes a little bit harder if you wait to be able to get

Speaker 171484.42s - 1540.34s

guys to be able to fit your system. The problem is how do you know which guys fit your system unless they came directly from it? So like Adam and Haney, the St. Mary's ORG transferred, you know, he'd be a perfect fit for Virginia ORG, but maybe he left there because he didn't want to play in that system. So it's just hard to know which guy. I think some coaches sort of got away from certain systems. It's like, let's just get as much talent as we can and try and make it work from there. You saw with Grant McCassel and Texas Tech ORG, you know, he went from one of theslowest offenses in the country in North Texas to one that was fairly fast at Texas Tech ORG because that's what he had with the pieces he worked with, and it was good enough to get to the tournament. So I think that coach is just going to have to adapt as much as the players and transfers themselves to just make everything work with whatever roster, especially since now a lot of these rosters on a one-year rental as it is.

Speaker 161540.84s - 1572s

Yep, absolutely. I do think that that is going to be key to be taking a look at moving forward. And I think that there's so much to dive in on. And I do want to give you a little bit of an open-ended question as well. I do think that this might be a little bit more difficult for you to answer. But what has really been one of the most surprising things that you've seen in the off-season, whether it's a trend that you're seeing in the transfer portal, whether it's just moves at a team, moves at a conference that's been making in general. But I just want to get your thoughts here on what we've all seen this offseason. And something that has really stood out to you that you just weren't expecting.

Speaker 171572.28s - 1622.58s

Hard to say that was unexpected because this is the first year where anyone can just enter the portal. So there really was nothing to expect. I guess one team that I've been pleasantly surprised with is UAB ORG because, you know, during the AAC ORG, but even though they make the tournament, you know, they should have been right for poaching. But, you know, considering that they brought back the Axelan PERSON board, who was like the one, you know, non-power conference store who stayed, then a few other key players have stayed as well, then they added some really good transfers, including St. Louis transfer, Bradley, Ezraero PERSON, inside. I mean, they have a top 25 caliber roster as is. And they've been the one team that's been able to keep the posters away and arguably be even better than the world's past season, in which they were able to make the run to make the tournament.

Speaker 161622.98s - 1624.46s

I do think that that's a good one.

Speaker 171624.62s - 1629.16s

And sometimes the most surprising part is just being able to keep things all together in general.

Speaker 161629.34s - 1642.74s

So I love that answer, and I always love getting you aboard Tristan PERSON. You do such a great job. Take a look at this wonderful game of college basketball. You're an absolute wealth of knowledge, so I love to get people at home. Now it's on top for you and how people can follow on social media on their platforms.

Speaker 171643.1s - 1670.12s

Yeah, you can follow me at Hoopsnut 3-51 on Twitter slash X. You can also follow at Bustin ORG brackets. And I recently put out an ACC way too early top 25 rankings for the new conference. And I'll be doing one this weekend for the Big Ten because they are 18 teams as well. And I'm curious on where the newcomers currently stand in that leaguebecause some of them like Oregon and USC ORG are used to making a tournament, but maybe they might have the story from the back of the line.

Speaker 161670.48s - 1699.72s

Absolutely. And at some point, you might be able to do a top 25 just with regards to the conference itself, because we might have 25 teams and sell these conferences what it's all said and done. But Tristan PERSON, he does an absolutely incredible job, taking a look at this great game that we all know and love of college basketball on every single time he joins the show when such good insight. So big thanks to Tristan PERSON for joining me right here on Kusco Soap, now part of the Visan Family ORG and a podcast. And coming next is that time to the podcast. You give a roundup of all the news and outs in college basketball and we've seen over the last 24 hours.

With myself, Greg Eips Peterson, now part of the Beeson PERSON family of podcasts. Always great to be joined by Tristan Freeman, who does such great work over at Bustin Brackett ORG, taking a look at this great game that we all know and love. I know that he is hard at work, taking a look at all we've gotten here in the off season, and always does a tremendous job of lending his insights when he joins his show. So big thanks to him for joining me in the last segment. Now it is that time in the podcast. They give you a roundup as to all the news and notes that we saw in college basketball over the last 24 hours, and we did see some big impact pieces, and the biggest of them, Hunter Dickinson, has decided that he is going to be heading back to Kansas for this upcoming season, and this is just a behemoth of an ad for them with Hunter Dickinson. He had a solid year over at Kansas this past year, got a little bit banged up towards back out of the campaign, that shoulder injury they took against Houston GPE, I have to figure that that hurt him a little bit during the NCAA tournament EVENT. And certainly the defense,it was not quite up to Kansas standards as of last year, but I do think that another year in the system, I think he's going to be able to help him on. And so I was able to give the team a double-double, 18 points, 10 boards, shot in the mid-30s from 3-par range. That is absolutely massive. And what makes it all the more massive is the fact that you know, bring in one of the top guys from Kansas this last year as well in Rileyland Griffin to make it all the better. With Griffin, he was able to log about 11.5 points per contest. Was a top 50 recruit for the class of 2022, shot about 39 and a half percent from 3-part range. He stands right in the neighborat about 6'5, so this certainly solves the shooting woes they have for Kansas ORG for a season go, and they should be getting Dewan Harris back to fold as well, main facilitator, and even though Kevin McCuller PERSON, I'm pretty sure he's out of eligibility after 100 million billion years in college basketball, all of a sudden you're looking at a team that has depth. You bring in Zeke Mayo, who I absolutely love, has it had. Again, I'm not necessarily as in on AJ Store PERSON as many others because this is technically as a school in eight years. So I think that it's fair to have a few questions there. But if you're questioning that, Riley Coogel PERSON, he comes in from Florida GPE. You just take a look at this roster. And right now they look like one of the best teams in all of college basketball, though.I think those boys over in stores might have something to say about that. Liam McNeely, he has decided that he is going to be going to Yukon, a top 25 recruit, someone that many people think is just going to be able to fit this system very, very well, and take a look at how he grades out. He's able to pop it from three-point range. He's able to play some tough tenacious defense. It was really one that his top freshmen still out there on the board. And Yukon has done just a nice job of be able to add good pieces here in the offseason. It's something that I've been talking about a lot on this podcast. You don't need to add like 100 million billion guys in the transfer portal or anything like that. You need to add the right guys. And right now, Yukon has been able to do that as the Ed McNeely PERSON, someone who is going to be able to be a nice replacement for what they're going to be losing from this past season. But a couple of that, they're also going to be bringing in Torres Reed PERSON as well. Reed this last season, he was able to do a very solid job hitting the boards for Michigan ORG, one of the few guys that actually played defense on Michigan ORG as well. So that was very nice for them as well. But I look at what Yukon has been able to do here in the offseason. Again, it's not like they've had like 500 moves or anything like that, but they've brought in the right guys. So I do think that that is going to be very much of impact as well. And this is also of impact.Lou Goody PERSON, he has decided that he is going to be adding on over to Indiana ORG and for Indiana ORG. This is really the missing piece that they needed because with Indiana they bring in a guy in Miles Rice to be able to go out the ball, coming in from Washington State GPE. You knew that that would be able to open them out a little bit. And I mean, it's fair to haveyour offensive questions with Umar Balo PERSON and how he's going to be able to play with guys like McKenzie and Bacobo PERSON and company. But you knew that this team needed that extra bit of shooting and he's going to be able to provide that for good. He was over at Illinois this past year. Wasn't necessarily like his hatching suffer or anything like that, but at six foot seven, he's able to shoot 39% from three par range. And I do think that's fair for me to pose this question. What is Mike Woodson PERSON now going to do with his talent? Because you take a look at this roster and it is talented enough to be able to go out there. And I don't know if win the big10 is necessarily the expectation, but at the very minimum, they, in my opinion, should be a top three team out there in the Big Ten. And if they don't get it done this year, when are they going to be able to get it done? So pressure is on Mike Woodson PERSON, but he's got the talent to really be able to have this program ascending and get back to the Indiana that we all know and love. For Creighton ORG, they are going to be without Trey Alexander PERSON, it appears. He has decided that he is going to be declaring for theNBA draft. Sadgeet suffered this last year. 15-9 points, 5-and-a-a-bordes, 4-a-a-a-siss, shot in the mid-30s from 3-par-inch. Figured that this would probably be the case for Creighton ORG. Have to figure that they're going to be a bit more active here in the transfer portalmoving forward. And for Creighton ORG, it's a program that I do take a look at, and while they've had so much talent over the last few seasons, you do have to question, are they going to be able to build a little bit more depth as well? That was the main bugaboo of Kansas' last season. And for Creight ORG, I mean, if they were to open up a restaurant, they'd be charged for copy, right? Because it was pretty much five guys. That's all that they had. And right now they brought in Jemai and Neil via the transfer portal, but he doesn't necessarily, in my opinion, fit this system completely. So Creighton ORG has a lot of work, in my opinion, toal via the transfer portal, but he doesn't necessarily, in my opinion, fit this system completely. So Creighton ORG has a lot of work, in my opinion, to do on the transfer portal front. So we shall see what happens there. For Kentucky ORG, they are currently hunting the portal, and they got in there a nice hat. Lamont Butler, he was very solid over at San Diego State ORG. We all remember what he did during the 2003 NCAA tournament EVENT, hitting that shot that sent San Diego State to the national title game. He is good to be adding on over to Kentucky ORG.Not necessarily a guy that's going to just completely stuff the sad sheet and it's going to be like amazing from three-part inch. He's been a low to mid-33 point shooter, but Yanamari Williams, a nice start for this Kentucky ORG team. You have to wonder what is all going to be remainingwhen it's all done for Mark Pope in terms of some of these returning guys. And Pope PERSON still has a little bit of work to do on the just transfer front. And it tells up here that he's going a little bit more defense oriented as well because with that pickup of Amari Williams PERSON, not necessarily a guy that's going to be stretching the floor with his offense, just an absolutely powerful rebounder.Someone who at Drexel was just very good in the post in general. So I do think that that is going to be very intriguing to take a look at it. I do think that with this Kentucky ORG team work to be done, but right now it looks like they're going to be going in a different direction after they played, quite frankly, absolutely no defense whatsoever last year. Jalen Solinger, he was very rock-soled this past season over at Kent State ORG,was able to log about 15 and a half points per contest, shot 39% from three-part range. He's going to be adding on over to Furman ORG, and this is a very good pickup for Furman ORG. Furman, always a little bit more of a defense optional school, a program that is very much lauded for their offense, and I thinkthat he's going to be able to fit like a glove for this team with this Furman ORG team. They are picking up also Tom House PERSON. He was over at Florida State. He's a 6'7 guy that just really didn't get out there on the floor for Florida State, but it's very clear that Furman ORG is taking once again the approach that they always do.We are going to beat you with our shooting. We are going to beat you on the offensive side of things, and that is what they're going to be going with. And as of right now, they've done a nice job of adding those pieces. We had a big addition to the transfer portal on Friday with AJ Hoggard PERSON, deciding that he is going to be entering into the portal. Michigan State ORG has been a little bit more active in terms of adding a few guys here in the offseason, but you have to figure that they're going to try if at all possible to retain Hogart PERSONh because you can always transfer back if you don't like what you see. But for Hogart,it's a big part of this Michigan State team as he sees a shot in the mid-30s from three-parange, 34.7 percent, 10-and-a-point-point for 5.2 assists of 1.8 turnovers per game, relatively solid defender with about a steel and a half per contest. So it's going to be very interesting to see what his prospects are going to be as there should be. Maybe not all 362D1 teams picking up the phone to call them, but most of them, they very much should be. Two by Lowell, he was playing over at VCU this last season. He's going to be saying in the state of Virginia, he is going to be adding on over to Virginia Tech ORG. And I absolutely love this pickup for Virginia Tech because Virginia Tech ORG is always a team that's been very good with their offense. We have seen this ever since Mike Young has taken hold of the program. The defense has been very optional. With Laul PERSON, he was a part of one of the better defenses in the major ranks in all of college basketball. Not a guy that's necessarily going to light it up on offense. He, for VCU last year, gave the team about 8.6 sports per contest, not someone that is really going to be going out there popping it from three-part range, but he's able to be a nice room protector. He's able to give you a block or two. He's able to help out in so many different fronts. And from Virginia Tech ORG, you do have to love what they've been able to do here in the off-season. You've got that dynamic score on Jordan Ivy Curry PERSON. He's also in the NBA ORG draft, so he's going to be coming back to school. Rodney Brown is someone with some upside coming in from Cal ORG. Ben Burnham was one of those top scores over at College of Charleston ORG.He's able to play a little bit more up-tempo. You've got just a nice blend of guys in general, and I do think that this is just absolutely massive for them, and I do think that this is also massive. With BYU ORG. We were talking about Mark Pope and him getting some guys over at Kentucky ORG.How about new coach Kevin Young being able to retain two of his own? Richie Saunders along with Dallon Hall are going to be back to the full time. I think that Hall is really the biggest of those two because while he averaged nine points per contest, he was really one the main facilitators, won the main glue guys for this team, was able to do a relatively solid job on defense, and he has won these straws that really serves a drink in terms of this BYU ORG team.Last year for BYU ORG, you had so many guys that were able to do all at the ball. You had a lot of just different pieces in general, playing off of one another, but for all, a little bit north of five assists per contest. Not a guy that says, are you going to go into flame throw remotefrom three par inch, but still shot 36% from three par inch, and then for Sonders, he was more of that sixth man that shot about 36 half percent for three, nine a half points per contest. We'll see what else is going to be saying put, but very big win for Kevin Young PERSON there. This is also a little bit of a win. You've got Day Wilte Tavares. He was playing over at Delaware State this last season. He's going to be adding on over to College of Charleston. And College of Charleston has had a really, really nice offseason with Tavares PERSON.He was a part of a Delaware State ORG team that if you look at the metrics, they were a top 125 team in terms of points allowed on a per possession basis. Mack PERSON is just a guy that in general, I will say, he knows what he's doing with regards to coaching, and he's done a nice job of just being able to take a College of Charleston ORG roster that very much flipped when he took the job. And when you saw that Pat Kelsey PERSON was going to betaking the job over at Louisville ORG. And he's brought in some good talent in the interim. You've got Lazar, Jokvitch. He's coming over from Xavier ORG, was glued to the bench, but guy with some size I think is going to be able to do a rock solid job. He was able to retain Antibrazovic PERSON, their top rebounder from the season ago. Darren Boyd PERSON was able light it up over at Lipscomb ORG. You're bringing A.J. Smithfrom the Citadel ORG. So even though College of Charleston might not bring bringing in like these power conference guys or anything like that, I think that Chris Mack knows the system that he wants to run here at College of Charleston, he's done a nice job. I'll be ableto just seek out a lot of these guys, and he has done a nice job will be able to maximize there. And also a lot of these guys, and he has done a nice job, but be able to maximize there. And also being able to maximize Kansas State ORG. You knew that they would be active in the transfer portal. I'm good to see Kansas State be able to add some of these guys early.Because I do think that Jerome Tang PERSON learned from last season that you can't bring in these guys at the absolute last minute. They already got Doug McDaniel PERSON, the top score from Michigan ORG and the full. Now they've got that nice outside score in Brandon Housen PERSON.He was able to average about six half points per contest, shot 38% from three point, former top winner recruit. He's going to be able to do a nice job in this backward. You've also got C.J. Jones won the top guys from UIC ORG coming into the fold as well. So Kansas State a team that really liked a lot of three-point shooting from a season ago, but was pretty rock-solid on defense at Jerome Tang PERSON.Even though you've got a few guys that are coming in, that might be a little bit of a work-in-progress on defense. He does a great job of just being able to instill that into these guys. I think that he's done an absolutely tremendous job here in the offseason of being able to add some pieces that are going to be able to help this team elevate on offense, especially in a new and improved Big 12 ORG.He saw Keon Williams PERSON. He last season was playing over at Oklahoma State ORG. He has decided that he is going to be going to Abling Christian ORG. And this is a very big ad for Abling Christian ORG, a program that plays a very distinct style. They're looking to generate a bunch of turnovers. But you typically don't find a guy that was at the power conference level. And he was a starter for Oklahoma State last year, seven-and-a-point points, five-and-a-a-bours. Not a guy that lights it up from three. Abling Christian never is a great three-point shooting team, but he's able to log a little bit over a seal-upor contest. It just don't get these guys typically. If you're Abling Christian ORG, they've been a little bit quiet on the front of being able to add transfersjust because it is such a distinct style. But man, oh man, that is a really good ad for them. So love what Abling Christian ORG was able to do there. DJ Smith, he was playing over at Bowling Green this last season. He has decided that he is going to be entering into the transfer portal and we shall see what his prospects are going to be. He really had a nice run of things when he was over at Little Rock ORG. At Little Rock, he was a two-yearstarter during the 2020-2-23 season. He was able to log about 10.5 points. Three assists. C.O. Per Contest. Over at Bowling Green, he only played eight games. It's only able to log about 4 points per contest. So we shall see if someone's able to take him on as a little bit more of a retread guy. He's only about 6 foot of buck 50.He doesn't necessarily have the world's greatest frame, but at the same time, can get a lot of other guys in full. We also saw Kamari Lanz PERSON enter in the transfer portal, like nearly everyone that entered into the transfer portal that was a part of the Louisville team from the 2022-23 season just flat out fell flat on their face but that's that forKamari lands last season over at Arizona seat four and a half points two and a half boards per contest after being a top one recruit when he was over at Louisville he was pretty much a sixth man for them as well a career about 30 percent three-point shooter at six foot eight he's got a little bit of versatility but again you do have to question how much you're going to be able to get out of him moving forward, and for Furman ORG, even thoughthey did have a very nice addition on Friday with adding Mr. Jared Solinger PERSON, they also do lose Alex Williams PERSON. And Alex Williams, he's the side that he's going to be going to DeCain ORG. It's going to be very much a new look, Duquesne ORG team with KeithDambrot PERSON, not out of the fold for them, but Alex Williams PERSON, he was very solid for this Furman ORG team aces to go. I believe that he missed a few games due to injury, but when he was out there on the floor, he was very rock-solid with about 13 points, 5 boards, shot 40% from 3-parts. And that's something that Duquesne ORG was really mentioning last year. Duquesne ORG was a really good defense-oriented sort of team, but it just weren't able to get a whole lot on the offensive side of things as well. But being able to get in someone like this, I think it's going to be very big for them, six and five guy that's able to do a little bit of everything. They tried that with the Treyorees about a year or two ago. It really didn't pan out. I think that this is going to be able to work out much better for them. You're going to hope that this works out for the old bracket bus in Bucknell by his side. You've got a Chile Spadone PRODUCT. He was playing this last season. All right, Davidson ORG had a tough time getting out there on the floor. He decided that he's going to be going to the bracket bus of Bucknell Bison ORG.An international man of mystery that comes off from Switzerland GPE. He was only able to log about 2.5 points per contest. Career 36% three-point shooter. John Griffin, I feel like did a good job with that Bucknell program last season. You could tell that they were getting better and better with every passing game. He's a guy that knows how to be able to help these guards really be able to elevate. You can do a lot as long as he's able to have just some sort of shooting in there at Spadone FAC. From the very limited amount that he played, he's able to pop it from three parties. So I think that that's a solid ad, and I do like this ad as well. Southern Illinois guard, AJ Ferguson, has decided that he's going to be going to Murray State for Steve Proem PERSON. He's on a solid job, but be able to hit the transfer portal. He's not had quite the success. They had at Murray State the first time around quite yet, but for Murray State ORG, they've been active here in the transfer portal the last few seasons, a little bit slower getting out of the blocks here, but now they've also got Terrence Harkham PERSON coming in the full, Kylin Melton PERSON. He was one of the best scores out there in the swag. This past season, and AJ Ferguson PERSON could be a little bit more of that, for lack of a better term, a glue guy. He over at Southern Illinois last season was a part of one of the better major defenses in off college basketball. Save a log about nine points, five boards, at 6'6. Only he shoots about 30 and a half percent from three-point range, but he should be all up in a wide variety ways and just free up those other guys like Milton and Company for some wide open three. So I think that that's going to be massive. Tuki Tanamo PERSON, he began his career out there in the Pac-12. These last few seasons was playing at Denver, and he was very solid this last year. 14.7-5 boards was really that number two score for one of the top Denver teams in terms of offense last season. Defense left a whole lot of something to be desired, and we've been noticing here at Wyoming last few seasons.Defense has been leaving something to be desired. But that said, he has decided that he is going to be adding on over to Wyoming and for the Cowboys ORG. It gives them versatility that they really haven't had the last few seasons for Wyoming ORG. I absolutely love what Mr. Jeff Linder PERSON is able to do as a coach, but at the same time, he very much got sneak-bitten by injuries a few years ago.You heard of recall, after they made the 2002-2-2-23 season, they just weren't able to follow it up with anything whatsoever. This past year, they were just in a little bit of shambles with regards to their roster, and they're bringing in him along Tyree E. and Acho PERSON, who was that nice statute, suffer over at North Dakota ORG. So I do like what they've been able to do this far.And right now it feels like they're taking some steps in the right direction. Deshaun Nelson was a relatively solid player this last year over at DePaul ORG. He was able to log for the team about nine points, five boards, was one of their best players. And he lands at Eastern Michigan ORG. That tells you where DePaul was last year for one. But I mean, this is a nice ad for an Eastern Michigan ORG teamthat now becomes, what are you going to be able to build around them? Because we all remember the last few seasons with Eastern Michigan. You had Thai A-Cuff PRODUCT last year it was able to log 20 plus points per contest, but I mean, everyone else around himwas about as useful as a poopy flavored lollipop. Imani Bates PERSON, he was a really nice primary score, but had absolutely nothing around him. And for Eastern Michigan ORG, they need to add some size. Ever since, coming into the fold, we have noticed that Stan Heath has been allergic to bringing in any sort of rebounding whatsoever. So they really need to work on that front. And here in the offseason thus far, they have not really brought in any forwards whatsoever, which is a little bit mind-numbing to me. I think that they need to learn from their mistakes, but now you've got two guys coming in from Rupal. It's not just Mr. Dishon Nelson, but they've also got Jail PERSON and Terry coming in as well. It's a nice three-point shooter as they were able to land both of them. So the DePaul to Eastern Michigan ORG sort of pipeline and is very much in full force as of right now,and we shall see if that's going to be continuing moving forward. And it's going to be interesting to see what happens here as Cameron Fenton PERSON, he was playing over at UIC, Illinois, Chicago. He has decided that he is going to be going to South Dakota GPE. And we've seen South Dakota GPE take some of these guys from larger programs that really didn't get a lot of burn and they've been able to do a nice job,but be able to turn them into nice primary post players. We shall see if Fence is going to be the next one of them for UIC last season, only about two and a half points, two rebounds per contest. But out there in the Summit League ORG, I think that you could be able to be a little bit dominant down low.Doesn't seem like a guy that's going to be able to go out there and pop a lot of threes or anything like that, but do like the pickup for them. Tony Feldor, he last season, was playing over at Stone Hill FAC. He has decided that he is going to be going to Radford ORG, and it's going to be interesting to see how he's going to be fitting in at Radford ORG,because typically the Highlanders NORP are one of your better major defenses in all of college basketball. Last year took a massive step back, and for Felder, he was on a Stone Hill FAC team that went from the D2 level to the D1 level, and quite frankly, they just weren't able to do it like a lot,and when he was at VMI, a few seasons ago as well, VMI ORG was one of the most ghastly defenses in the country. But he's someone that's able to do a nice job, but be able to give you some facilitation. And his ears at Stone-LMI average about 11 points, 3 and his 3 assists, shot about 32 and a half percent from 3 points. So a little bit of a work-in-progress guy. But if he's able to get down a little bit of defense, I do think that that is going to be able to help them out. Really do like what William and Mary ORG is doing. I like the coaching hire of Brian Earl PERSON. They were able bringing Keller Boothby a few days ago.It was a really nice spot-up shooter, and now they bring in a smart kid. They bring in Jake Scott over from Princeton ORG. Now, Scott PERSON did not play a lot of minutes. Princeton went about five deep, and that's about it. He only saw about two and a half points, two and a half rebounds per game. And was he ate like a top one- top one on recruit or anything like that? No, but he was a relatively decently touted guy. Hasn't shot about from three in the game action that we've seen, but it's a very small sample size for him at 6'5. I do think that he's going to be able to develop that three-point shot, and I do think that this is going to be a nice ad for them. And then I thought that this was a nice ad as well as you saw Zach Keller PERSON.He last season was playing over at Wake Forest ORG, just was really unable to get out there on the floor. He was lost in the shadow of guys like Efton Reed PERSON and company. He decided that he is going to be going on over to Utah ORG. Utah is going to be without Benton Carlson PERSON, who decided that he is going to be pursuing a professional career. So they need a little bit of a feeling guy for a team that had pretty good depth at the low post position at the forward spot. He was only able to log about two rebonds per game. It's not like Keller was one of these top 100 recruits or anything like that, butkid from the great state of Colorado GPE was really highly touted. He's going to be heading on over to the mountainous time zone where he started out his career, so I think that that is going to be big for them. And the pipeline of Penn State to Temple ORG, Goal said, is continuing as well as Temple ORG actually got their coach after he was able to be one of the main men for Michael Shrewsbury a few seasons ago in Adam Fisher PERSON.And now he's bringing over one of his own. Jamil Brown PERSON, he has decided that he is going to be going from Penn State and he's going to be going to Temple ORG. And for Temple, the reason why things were just so bad for them last season is that they just didn't flat out have any guard play whatsoever. And when you don't have that, you really don't have much of a shot for Brown last season. Was they have a log about four points per contest, shot about 32% from three-part range value. It was over at Penn State ORG. He knows exactly what Fisher is looking to run. I think that he's going to be able to do a nice job of just putting his stamp on this program and just being able to allow Temple to look a little bit more like what Fisher was envisioning when he did take this job and what Temple has been able to do here in the offseason.I feel like it's been really good. You can tell that they got off to a little bit of a late start last off season as well. With regards that coaching search, they also bring in Lynn Greer PERSON, who does a nice job, but be able to do it all. And then you've got that primary score in Jamal-Mashburn Jr. is going to be going on over to New Mexico GPE. So, all on all, I feel like they've been able to do a tremendous job thus far. You've got Quest Glover PERSON now in the transfer portal. And for Quest Glover, last year, it was a little bit of loss here. If you take a look at what he did while he was over at Sam I Amford, two seasons ago, this is someone that is going to be able to provide a lot of upside, in my opinion, for whatever team is willing to take a shot on him as he just couldn't get out there on the floor whatsoever. But two years ago, what he was at Sanford, the 2000-21-22 campaign, his last truly healthy year was able to log, 19 points for an emphasis, generated a little bit over seal per contest. And then last year on campus at Sanford shot about 38% from 3-py range, a little bit of an out-of-sight, out-of-mind guard that could be one of the gems right nowof the transfer portal still out there. And we still got a few other guys that are deciding, you know what? We're going to be entering in the transfer portal like Maitzot PERSON. Mijok PERSON. He was over at UMass Center ORG that just really was glued to the bench because he had Matt Cross along with Josh Cohen PERSON completely dominating. But I think that there might be a little bit of upside with him. Jackie Johnson, the third is one of those guys that also entered in the transfer portal. He this last season was playing over at UNLV, and for Jackie Johnson PERSON, wasn't the primary guy or anything like that, but just a nice overall solid player that was able log for the team about five and a half points per contest. He had better results in the 2021-22 campaign when he began his career at Duquesne ORG was about a 37-5%3-point shooter over there but did a nice job with his defense, was able to generate a few steals. I think that there's going to be a lot of upside with him. And then Rudy Fitzgivens PERSON is also in the transfer pole. He was playing at Chattanooga this past season began his career while he was over at the Citadel ORG. And when he was at the Citadel was a nice impact guy that was able to log about 8 points per contest in his time at the Citadel of about a 36% three-point shooter. This year at Chattanooga ORG, he told him he just passed over a little bit,job more around 34 and a half percent from three points. So we shall see what the upside is for him, but I do think that there's going to be quite a few schools that are probably going to be in on him as well. You also saw Billy Richmond, who he was won the former Kentucky ORG recruits as well. He has decided that he is going to be following John Calipery as well. So if you're doing the math at home, that is now three former recruitsthat have decided that they are going to be following John Calipary all in the top 50. The biggest one was Mr. Flann, who recruited about 24 or so hours ago. So I do think that John Calipry, him going for that Kentucky ORG pipeline that's going to be able to help him out as the main guy that he brought in that was actually on the team last year is Big Z. PERSON Now the question becomes, what outside guys is he going to be able to bring in? Because I don't feel like he can have success if he does absolutely nothing, but bringing in his former recruits and former Kentucky ORG guys. So that's what he's going to need to focus on next. But yeah, literally every single roster spot to fill him, he's been able to fill quite a few of them quite well. Dennis Evans PERSON, he was a top recruit of Louisville last year and just did absolutely nothing whatsoever. A truce some footer that made five starts, he was dealing with injuries, he was dealing things off the court. There was just a little bit of everything going on. One team's, shall we say, misfortune. That is another team's treasure. Grand Canyon is bringing in Mr. Dennis Evans PERSON. This is really going to be able to help them out down low. Grand Canyon ORG was one of the top rebounding teams. Forget about it at the major level. Just in all of college basketball in general.Grand Canyon, you can tell that they've got a nice little NIL ORG collective that's going on here. They've been able to do a really good job of bringing in a whole bunch of top flight talent. This is just the latest of them, but they've also got coming into the full Jacoby Coles PERSON, who is a legitimate good player over at TCU ORG. They're also going to be bringing back Ray Sean Harrison PERSON. I know that he was toying with the idea of going into the transfer portal. He's back for them as well. So this is big for them. This is also going to be pretty solid for Southern Miss. Christian Watson PERSON, he has decided that he is going to be going to Southern Miss. Hopefully this goes a little bit better than the Andre Carbello PERSON experiment, because with Andre Carbello PERSON, I have no idea what's going on with him.I don't know if he's going to be returning to Southern Miss. I don't know if he is going to be going pro, what have you. But that said, with Watson PERSON, feels like you're probably going to be getting a little bit less volatility with him. As for Mr. Watson, this last season, just had a little bit of a tough time getting out there on the floor for Miami ORG. A former top 250 recruit wasn't quite a top winner guy.He shot 37% from 3 as a freshman last year, fall off the table a little bit. But, it said, with his 6'7, a little bit of a combo frame, I do think they'll be able to come into Southern Miss and he's going to be able to provide them with quite a bit of production. And hopefully this podcast is beingproductive for you. I'm with you guys every single day looking at all that we're getting in the offseason. Then once we get back in season, obviously we're going to get you guys picks and analysis on every game every day. Join me as I dig deep into the game's history, unearthed some wild stories, and talk to my friends from the world of basketball, from Dr. J to Charles Barkley PERSON. It's been a wild ride, and now I get to take you with me. Listen to NBA DNA with Hannah Storm on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts ORG, or wherever you get your podcasts.
