Speaker 00s - 10.26s

You'll never stop this day. I'll never let you go. Welcome to the Sky Sports Football ORG podcast.

Speaker 610.74s - 19.6s

Saturday night football this week came from Merseyside where Everton played Brentford ORG. Here's how things sounded when the full-time whistle blew at Goodison Park FAC.

Speaker 821.76s - 119s

The top ease will spend another top flight season. Sean Deich has taken Everton ORG to safety. There's a drissigone with a winner on this occasion. They knew they only needed three more points to make sure they're playing the Premier League ORG again and they did just that There weren't too many attempts at Target in the match for the first one on target for Roberton PERSON was enough for them to find a way through The toffees will play in their top flights againThey've stayed up. There's nothing the bottom three can do about it. A few weeks ago, they were worried. But three wins at Gooderson in a week have done it up. Jordan Pickford making big saves in the game to pick up his 12th clean sheet of this Premier League ORG season. Quite the season for him. The rearguard playing their part in making sure that Everton ORG don't go down.Brentford ORG had done their business before this, results earlier today, confirming their status as well for another season. But for Emerton, they will be in the Premier League ORG again.

Speaker 0119s - 134.76s

And even though Goodersen Park FAC stays are numbered with a new stadium on the way, this club's long run in the top flight remains intact. Final score at Good of St. Park ORG. Everton ORG won. Brentford-Nill ORG.

Speaker 1136.92s - 163.76s

An important victory for Everton ORG is the one, as we've been hearing, that keeps them in the Premier League ORG. They've done it earlier this season. Last couple of seasons, it's gone down to the last week. This time around, they are comfortably staying in the division, and that's factoring in that points deduction, two points deductions that they've suffered this season. Phil, thoughts on Everton ORG's campaign and the fact that now we know for definite their safe?

Speaker 7163.76s - 179.2s

Well, first of all, relief, isn't it? It's going to be another season of Premier League ORG football but now you've got to take hats off it's been an emotional a massive week three wins at any time in the season is huge but to do it now and obviously cement your place in the best division in the world for next season is fantastic

Speaker 1179.2s - 183.6s

Jamie in terms of the performance today against Brentford ORG what did you make of it?

Speaker 4183.6s - 213.22s

Second after they have by far a better team. First off, Brentford ORG probably looked a little bit more dangerous. There was an impetus about him, second half. Dwight McNeil PERSON started to get on the ball, make things happen, and they obviously got the goal, and they're very good at defending. They know their jobs, they work extremely hard.It was a really important three points for them. I didn't even be forward again. You knew they'd find the win from somewhere. But the form that they've been of late, as Phil Wrighty PERSON says, has been fantastic. And obviously, at Drescent Gait, it's going a fantastic goal to get those three points.

Speaker 1213.84s - 232.04s

That run of results that they've had coming into this game has just been incredible. And the amount of confidence they must have, the momentum they have behind them, as they go into this game against Bremen ORG. It's been impressive. It's not just wins. It's been impressive because it's not it's not just wins it's important wins against rivals local rivals and relegation rivals. Yeah well that was when

Speaker 7232.04s - 257.7s

you looked at the fixtures in the calendar you knew these games were gonna mean a lot. You know to go away and get beat six nil amongst those you know fantastic results again shows a character and this team are quite happy when they get a goal up. You know they've kept a lot of clean sheets now. You know, Jordan PERSON made a fantastic save beginning of the second half to keep it at nil. And I said, the team's confidentand Gooderson will be a rocking tonight. Going to clip it to Harrison PERSON.

Speaker 8259.4s - 271s

And Harrison, Bradthwaite PERSON, yay! The field good back to continues that goodness of park.

Speaker 1271s - 312.96s

Big wins at Everton ORG that keeps them in the Premier League for another season. Better teams, certainly in the second half against Brentford ORG. They take that 1-0 victory. They scored with their only shot on target, although they did hit the woodwork twice in that game. 26 touches in the opponent's box and a slightly less possession than Brentford ORG in that game. And it is their fourth successive home win with a clean sheet. First time they've done that since the end of the 1819 season. James Tarkovsky PERSON, a big part of those clean sheets. Obviously, a dressergan, again, with the goal that was the difference between the sides. And they're both with Juliet Farrington PERSON. James, wow, what a week.

Speaker 2313.12s - 315.08s

What a month at Goodison Park FAC.

Speaker 5316.02s - 341.88s

Yeah, it's been amazing. Some turnaround there. From a week Monday ago, I think it was, probably the lowest part of our season. And then to come back the way we have, three wins, Derby win, and then to turn up again today, which I think today is the toughest game in the three, just because the high of the other night to then come again at the weekend. We lost a few numbers again, so a short squad, but Vlad's turned up again, and yeah, incredible week.

Speaker 2342.34s - 352.66s

Yeah, I was going to say, listening to you, you said it would be the hardest game, I guess, from the adrenaline. And you were so pumped on Wednesday night to pick yourselves up and the energy needed to come through this 90 minutes. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 5352.86s - 364.9s

Fair play to the lads, but also the manager. Because, as I said, we're in that place and to turn around the way he has in that time. The lads have showed up, give it to all. And you can enjoy it outside there because you see how much it means to these fans?

Speaker 2365.32s - 374.22s

And what about this man? How good has he been this week? Like the driving force, haven't you, Edress PERSON? So the goal against Nottingham Forest, the goal today, part of the team that beat Liverpool in midweek.

Speaker 0375s - 404.44s

Yeah, I try my best. It's nothing from me. Just God give me these goals. We do our best. We train in the best way and we try to help the club to stay in the Premier League ORG. Yeah, a nice week for us, but we have to keep going because this level is the level of the club. We deserve more than this. We have to do more for the next season, but finish the season is in the right way all together. And yeah, we will see next season.

Speaker 2405.16s - 412s

You say you have to do more, but for these remaining three games, can you enjoy it now, now that you're in the Premier League for another season?

Speaker 0412.42s - 431.56s

Yeah, we enjoy it because we win three games in this week and without considering a goal at Goodison FAC. This is a level we have to have all the season. Unfortunately, this season was difficult for us, but we fight all together, we stay together. And this is really, really important for us.

Speaker 2431.56s - 433.8s

James, the track suits worked wonders.

Speaker 5433.8s - 448.52s

Yeah, it has. Yeah, it has. I think that's a show from our important Garner is to our team because he's not settling on the three wins. He wants to go again and saw the line and so there's everyone else in there. We see an opportunity now with the three games remaining to go and put some more points on the board so that's what we're striving for.

Speaker 2448.52s - 451.76s

I know he doesn't like talking about himself but he has been immense this week, hasn't he?

Speaker 5451.76s - 461.24s

Yeah, he has. It has been incredible. Two massive goals for us first of all but the work he gets through in this team is unbelievable out on his legs at the end but you can see why because he does so much work.

Speaker 2461.24s - 466s

Do you think you might get a day off now because Because I know you didn't get one on Thursday.

Speaker 5466.8s - 470.16s

I hope so. We'll see when we get back in there. Yeah, hopefully.

Speaker 2471.2s - 475.6s

Well, I'll let you get back in. But in the meantime, if you could give Adrissa PERSON player of the match fully deserved.

Speaker 0476.4s - 480.04s

Thank you very much. Another one for you. Thank you very much. All prize for good.

Speaker 1480.64s - 481.28s

Brilliant stuff.

Speaker 0482.8s - 484.72s

Yeah, two goals in three for him.

Speaker 1484.72s - 510.68s

Now, he had two goals in his previous 98 games for Everton ORG, which has just been, it's been an incredible week for him. It's been an incredible week for everyone at Everton ORG. They knew this week with the three home games would be huge. James Tarkovsky PERSON was saying there, he felt like this one was the most difficult. It'd be hard to argue in defense of that statement in terms of the, you know, the footballing levels. But can you understand why he said it?

Speaker 7510.68s - 552.94s

I think so as the weeks as a week's built up as well. Yeah, you've got the two wins and this was to finish the job, get the icing on the cake and put to bed any possibility of playing in the championship next season. So I can understand that and coming to the mentally, would have been by far the toughest. A local Derby EVENT, as hard as the game is physically, emotionally, it's easy to get yourself up for. A relegation battle with your closest sort of opponentsthe week, obviously, before, again, would have been easy. And I think that's what the first half was like. The first half was a little bit like a boxing match where there wasn't really many, you know, nothing really happening, it was a bit of a testimonialish. Second half came. I think as soon as Tony had that chance, it sort of woke him, Everton ORG up,and they were definitely the better team in the second half.

Speaker 1553.1s - 557.94s

And who would have thought that Idrisa Gagne was going to be the player with two key goals.

Speaker 4558s - 558.92s

Prolific, they call him.

Speaker 1559.08s - 562.28s

To keep Everton ORG in the play.

Speaker 4562.28s - 615.12s

Yeah, and it's a, you know, it's not just a good goal. It's good midfield play. You can see this was some keep Everton ORG in the point. Yeah, and it's a, you know, it's not just a good goal. It's good midfield play. You can see that this was some concerted pressure at the time. They were banging on the door. They'd hit the crossbar with Dwight McNeill PERSON. And you're just feeling some pressure we're starting to mount. And that set pieces, they are a big side. You can see Tarkoski and Bramphway PERSON, and they've got players that can really do things. There's the, there's the man that has a shot who scores a goal. Now he shows a bit of composure here, a nice ball. But I just want to keep your eye on him now, because as a midfield player, I think it's important. You can see there, he's got Visser PERSON and Ivan Tony, who, no disrespect. There are two forwards. They're not really thinking at the moment, what's the worst case scenario here? If that ball comes out, they're probably thinking, if we can win it back, I'll get up the other end of the pitch. But Atrissa PERSON just finds himself in following the ball in and just gets himself into a lovely position when that ball gets played out to him and finishes it with a plumb. It is a fantastic finisher. Fantastic thing.

Speaker 7615.16s - 616.76s

Yeah, I think there's nowhere else he can put it.

Speaker 4617.54s - 621.48s

He obviously shows a big, not so much composure of his left foot shot, but obviously the ball out wide is lovely.

Speaker 7621.8s - 636.16s

Harrison PERSON does what he does. He puts the ball in the box. Banthwaite PERSON keeps it alive and just the timing and the finish look if it'd have easily blasted that over or they got blocked and no one would have really said anything but you know the finish itself and as you said he's in hot goal scoring form at the moment. Yeah well you see the

Speaker 4636.16s - 659.92s

player I mean just take that back that this just shows you how difficult the finish is because you've got look at those players coming off here that's Aya Collins, Norgaard, Jensen PERSON, all going to just get. So he's got a small window to hit it in, just here. Do you have got to keep it down? There's a little bit of pressure in front of the home fans. And can you do it?Absolutely. What a finish with real pace. Probably doesn't score that if he doesn't score the one last week.

Speaker 0659.92s - 674.84s

I genuinely believe that because that's how it is sometimes. You get a bit of confidence, probably been banging a few in training this week. And all of a sudden things are starting to happen for him. So really good piece of play. And you can see the emotion from the players. And that just calms everything down now.

Speaker 4674.92s - 692s

You know, they're safe. If things would have gone differently this year, they'd not have had the points deduction. There'd be two points off 10th. You know, that just shows you how well this team has done. And they've had to struggle in adversity. We were saying earlier on they had their best run when they got the first points deduction, there'd be two points of 10th. You know, that just shows you how well this team has done. And they've had to struggle in adversity. We were saying earlier on, they had their best run when they got the first points deduction. And that just shows there are obviously a lot of characters in that team.

Speaker 7692s - 700s

Yeah, it's got to have been difficult. And especially now, some points have been taken off. Some have been added. So you almost need an abacus to figure out exactly what's going on with the points.

Speaker 4700s - 704s

It took me like, it took me a while. I find that where they'd be with the eight points.

Speaker 7704s - 724.3s

So if you look at a successful season, you know, last season, Kelly said before, it was last, last game of the season. It was not a nice place to be an Everton fan. This season, take away the points. Obviously, they still play a role. You know, the points tell that they would have proves that they're going in a right direction and hopefully a little bit of, you know, stabilising for that for this club, obviously, which is needed. Yep.

Speaker 1724.3s - 732.68s

And it's been based on this, this really strong defensive performance from from Everton ORG. It's the third best defence in in the Premier League this season.

Speaker 7732.68s - 755.76s

I think when you get on those roles and as I said before, when you're not scoring loads and loads of goals, you have to keep clean sheets. So you're obviously not going to win games. And there's a certain pride and a certain element of of satisfaction. I've been there myself when we were obviously David Moises, Everton ORG. We didn't have any money to buy many strikers. So we knew that we couldn't really give too many goals up. So it's of similar ilk now. And you can see, obviously, Sean Dice doing a fantastic job with it.

Speaker 1755.94s - 774.28s

We can actually see Sean Dyche himself because he's joining us from Gooderson FAC. Sean PERSON, congratulations. Thanks so much for your time. Everton ORG are safe. You'll be in the Premier League again next season. After the season that you've had this time round, how satisfying is it for you? Yeah, thanks. Hi, everyone.

Speaker 9774.58s - 832s

Yeah, incredibly satisfying. You know, we've had our knocks over the season. Various things have happened. It's been hard to deal with at times and hard to manage at times. But trying to find the calmness, you know, off the pitch and trying to get the team working on the pitch is a tricky balance.I think we've found it overall and I think the players have a lot of credit. I'm a staff as well. They've worked very hard and the players staying in line with what the challenge is. And I think recently, you know, we had to change things, including my outfit, which seems to have made a lot of noise. I can't really work that one out. But anyways, you know, the idea was what could we look at changing? You know, what we're looking on the training plan, sorry, the organisational plan, and putting that into the team, and they've accepted it, and they've accepted the challenge. I think the latter part of the season has paid us back from the early part of the season. I said, there was a lot of noise. We're not doing this. We were playing really well, I thought. We were creating chances, I mean, really high level of chances, which everyone knows. The latter part, we haven't done that as well, but we've made sure that we look after ourselves, and that's an important factor over a season's work.

Speaker 1832.58s - 853.06s

Sean PERSON, you'll have your own thoughts on what the turning points this season have been for the side. But this week has been huge, really important games against relegation rivals, against local rivals, and then this one, to pick yourself up from all that emotion for the home game against Brentford ORG. How pleased are you to come away from that with nine points?

Speaker 9854.16s - 888.9s

Yeah, I mean, a fantastic run. And, you know, we won against Burnley ORG in an awkward game. I said it was an ugly, ugly game plan. It was correct to win the game. We got that out of the way. And then obviously a really ugly night for us down at Chelsea ORG,but the response has been fantastic for them all involved. And I must say our fans as well, look, it's difficult. You know, and they've had a difficult time here. I only asked them to keep their notice point in the right direction and support us, and they have done. That was evident in the forest game. Of course, in the local Derby EVENT, which we come through and won. And then today. So that's all I asked for and they did stick with us. And I thank them for that.Well, Sean, Phil PERSON.

Speaker 7889.04s - 890.76s

Just well done, first and foremost.

Speaker 9891.24s - 897.3s

It's nice to get a job done a few weeks earlier than last season. It is. Trust me. Last season was bizarre.

Speaker 7897.66s - 898.92s

Trust me, they wanted to do that again.

Speaker 9898.92s - 900.72s

I felt like the longest season in the world,

Speaker 7900.84s - 903.04s

because we've struggled to keep up with, obviously,

Speaker 9903.18s - 908.16s

points deductions, game points back and all sorts. all sorts and obviously you having to manage the changing room amongst

Speaker 7908.16s - 928.48s

that time because you sort of don't know what's going on even even as we're stood in there now we don't show obviously what's going to go on with forest and things like that but so I've got all that out of the way like you say a couple of weeks now I'm not saying you'll let the boys have too many days off or take your foot off the pedal but is it nice to actually sit back now and and enjoy Premier League ORG. I won't say survival, but Premier League states for next season?

Speaker 9931.64s - 971.18s

Yeah, I mean, it's our 70th game today and 30 to go. So that's what kind of season has been. It feels like that, that's for sure. But the players have worked so hard. They will get a few down days. But I mean, Tarki PERSON, too, who's been a mountain for us, I think, and Jarrow PERSON.But he was talking before the game and after the game about finishing it properly. We were speaking in the training ground about that mentality. I'm pleased, obviously, to get it done first. But then can we go on again? Can we take the next one and the next one, the next one, and see where it takes us after having eight points taken off us?So that's the mentality we've been trying to build here. People talk about styles, that's fine. It doesn't really bother me. It's about winning. And I said that recently. And that's the first thing I've always thought about is how do I get this team to win?And they've taken the challenge on and delivered.

Speaker 4972.12s - 991.8s

Sean, Jamie Redneck PERSON. Well done, mate. Great win for you. I mean, first half was obviously the game didn't really find any rhythm. And second half, especially after your efforts in midweek, I thought you were absolutely fantastic. You were the team with the impetus and you got going and you looked full of energy. I mean, how difficult has it been with the last couple of days to make sure the boys are fit? Yeah, no, you're absolutely

Speaker 9991.8s - 996.28s

right. I mean, we lost Dom PERSON as well. We're a bit skinny in numbers and we looked at the

Speaker 4996.28s - 1004.68s

training program to get right. We had him in the next day. But then the next day, we literally did half an hour, almost nothing. I was actually tactically, you know, I don't want to try

Speaker 91004.68s - 1045.9s

and be clever about it, but I thought the beginning of the game might be a bit lacking in energy for us, I mean. So we went a bit deeper and we went to midfield three, almost like a literal three to see how the game was beginning. And then I thought we grew into it. We changed Duke ORG higher at the pitch. And then I thought second half, and I was really, really pleased, not just to win it with a goal, but I thought the control of the second half, because they've got safe. They're playing with freedom, of course. Good outfit by what Thomas PERSON has done there. He's a person I know quite well, and he's done a great job. But to bring that kind of mentality and control the games that we've controlled recently, it's really tough. You certainly know it's tough when the heat's on you to control them games and to give the performances we have. So I couldn't be more proud of the players.

Speaker 41046.46s - 1054.9s

And you mentioned the goal. I know you are a top coach, but how have you turned Adrissa Gaye PERSON into a goal scoring machine, make? Give us a little flavour of what you've been working on with him.

Speaker 91056.04s - 1060.14s

Yeah, of course. Yeah, at 34, it's me. All about me. I just worked at him every day

Speaker 41060.14s - 1063.8s

and got that new technical angle, of course.

Speaker 91064.08s - 1067.84s

But no, he's been terrific. you know, and him amongst many others.

Speaker 41067.94s - 1085s

I mean, look, there's so many local heroes at the moment. You know, people have put their bodies on the line, not just playing and finding big moments. But I think some of the performances and some of the performance, I mean, actually, young, what a professional is. But incredible, incredible. Shamers who's been unlucky with injury, but you all know he's got a heart as big as a bucket for this club.

Speaker 91085.66s - 1112.76s

There's just a couple, but so many others, the two-cent and a half has been absolutely outstanding, I think. And the development of some of them, Jared, developing Jimmy Garner PERSON, I thought was good against that. You know, they're developing.Yousef gets a go, you know, Miko's improved, I think. Paz PERSON who's been very unfortunate with injuries, you know. But we're trying to bring this group along as well as win games, as well as balance out the eight points, as well as balance out the finances, as well as balance out the noise, as well as all the rest of it. So I'm pleased for myself, the staff and the players and, of course, the funds.

Speaker 11113.44s - 1127.88s

Sean, you've referred to the players wanting to finish the season strongly, but you can do it now with the pressure off. And I'm only bringing this up because you've already mentioned it, but are you sticking with the track suit? I'm going to have to. I've got no it. But are you sticking with the track suit? I'm going to have to.

Speaker 91127.88s - 1140.56s

I've got no choice. I mean, the players are on it now. I thought my suit is pretty decent, to be fair. But the players are on it. A bit of fun about it once we won one and then you went two and all of a sudden, you know, changed the story. So I think I'm going to have to.

Speaker 11140.56s - 1146s

And if you finish the season strongly, you might be getting more than a message from Green Day ORG. They could be writing you a whole new song.

Speaker 91146s - 1147s

I know what's all about.

Speaker 11147s - 1160s

There's another weird thing of this week. It's been the oldest week for many reasons, including that. But I thank them for it anyway, and I look forward to seeing them. Sean PERSON, really appreciate you coming out to talk to us. Thanks so much and congratulations again. Thanks, everyone.

Speaker 91160s - 1162s

Well, John PERSON. Cheers.

Speaker 11162s - 1189.2s

Sean Dach PERSON clearly can be a bit more relaxed now. We can look forward to the end of the season. I wanted to talk about the tracks. Not because of the sort of image part of it, but also, but more about the fact that it kind of underlines this emphasis on what's going on on the training ground, that it's almost like a move or a sign that he's moving away from the boardroom and onto the ground. Does it feel like that to you or is it, am I reading too much into it?

Speaker 71189.2s - 1191.36s

I'd probably say you're reading a little bit too much into it.

Speaker 11191.36s - 1207.04s

I think I think with Sean PERSON, I think he was just trying something new. Sometimes you want a little bit of a change of look or just, or maybe his suit was too creased or whatever, but it seems to be working. You know, three wins on the spin, you'll probably be sleeping in his track suit at the moment, let alone put your suit any time soon. Most managers are superstitious. It's always the way, you know, you get a win,, you'll probably be sleeping in his track suit at the moment, let alone putting his suit anytime soon. Most managers are superstitious. It's always the

Speaker 41207.04s - 1211.04s

way, you know, you get a win, I'll wear the same tie, whatever it is. So no, good luck to him.

Speaker 71211.04s - 1216s

It's working. You can keep up to date with all the latest from the Premier League ORG by using the free

Speaker 11237.18s - 1250.36s

Before the game, because of results elsewhere, Brentford already knew that their Premier League ORG status had been secured, but they've lost by a goal to nil against Everton at Goodison Park FAC. So let's hear from their manager. Thomas Frank is with Juliet Farrington PERSON.

Speaker 21251.64s - 1258.12s

Thomas, you knew it was going to be tight between you and Everton ORG. Was that what you thought it was going to be the way it played out?

Speaker 31259s - 1289.94s

Very tight game, not many chances, probably a nil-0 game. A little bit boring, if I'm honest. We know how difficult Everton ORG is to play against. I think actually we had the biggest chance in the game to Ivan PERSON at nil-0. We knew they're very good on set pieces. I think we control that completely throughout the game. And then it's a second phase flipper game in the box that unfortunately dropped to them. I like the honesty.

Speaker 21290.08s - 1295.98s

Is Ivan PERSON okay? He seemed a little bit quiet in this match. I think so. I haven't spoken to him so

Speaker 31295.98s - 1298.12s

he played 90 minutes so yeah.

Speaker 21298.48s - 1302.72s

Because there was that concern wasn't over the hit problem and everything else in terms of his fitness?

Speaker 31303.12s - 1304.46s

He's fine, play 90 minutes.

Speaker 21305.34s - 1314.5s

The plus side is you're in the Premier League ORG guaranteed now mathematically safe for another season and that would have been the target right at the start when you rewind back to August.

Speaker 31315.12s - 1330.74s

No, no, no, no, no, no. Never, never, ever, ever. We never talked about target, almost staying in the Premier League ORG. That's much something you other guys are talking about. For us, it's always trying to end as high as possible. Be an asset to the Premier League ORG. There's much be something you are the guys are talking about. For us, it's always trying to end as high as possible. Be an asset to the Premier League ORG.Today I'm just very irritated we lost a football match.

Speaker 21330.94s - 1332.74s

But it has been a difficult season, hasn't it?

Speaker 31333.24s - 1336.32s

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But today I'm just irritated that we lost the game.

Speaker 21336.98s - 1338.72s

What frustrated you the most?

Speaker 31340.08s - 1344.24s

I don't like losing, and I don't think we top performed, and I think it was an average game.

Speaker 21344.8s - 1351.46s

Do you look now to sort of find that balance-back mentality the runner form, the momentum that you want for these remaining three games?

Speaker 31351.46s - 1361.42s

I think there's a little bit irritating in me that I think we've got a good momentum and the primary is just so so tough and it's so tight and it's fine margins all the time.

Speaker 21361.94s - 1371.74s

So okay if we can't win here and there shouldn't be a win, in my opinion, okay, then nil, then get a point when we didn't hit our highest offensive quality. I enjoy the rest of the three games.

Speaker 31372.06s - 1373.5s

I'll try to. Thank you.

Speaker 21373.5s - 1373.9s

Thank you, Thomas PERSON.

Speaker 11373.98s - 1374.5s

Thank you very much.

Speaker 31375.84s - 1380.56s

Well, a smile at the end from Thomas Frank PERSON, but you can understand his frustration.

Speaker 11381.06s - 1392.96s

Before they even kicked off, he knew that the job was done, their Premier League ORG status had been secured. But in terms of the game itself, can you see where his frustrations might come from in terms of the performance? Yeah, I always

Speaker 41392.96s - 1419.92s

think if you get the first goal against Evan PERSON, you've got a good chance because then they have to come out, then options will come and you've got the pace and the brack of, you know, and Wemmo and Tony and Visser to to utilize. But once they don't, they went one nil down, they didn't really have any options or anything that looked like they was going to go their way. A couple of moments, but obviously in the first half, you think about Bram Pwaite's PERSON block, that was a big moment in the game. They get that first go, everything's different. And that was a good piece of defending as well, Phil PERSON.

Speaker 71419.92s - 1450.72s

Yeah, we spoke about it at half time. You know, obviously he reads the situation well, comes out to block and make sure he doesn't leave too many gaps for the ball to go in. So, yeah, on a pretty, should we say, dullish first half, this was probably the biggest moment of the game. And the same again, he was right, Thomas Frank PERSON. He said they had the biggest moments. And again, this was probably the biggest chance of the game. Obviously, it wasn't a goal. But, you know, fantastic through ball. And you're thinking, just slot it underneath Jordan PERSON and for somereason I don't know if it's a slight miss kick or whatever but he comes up and it allows

Speaker 11450.72s - 1455.54s

Jordan to make a save of his ribs. Yeah it's a good save from Jordan Pickford PERSON but could

Speaker 41455.54s - 1507.86s

Tony have kept it down a bit Jamie? Possibly kept it down lift it you know it's one of those you just want to sometimes make sure you get a good contact on it that's the most important thing. A little bit unlucky. This is King Lewis Potter PERSON when he came on. I think he gave him a little bit of life as well.A couple of little moments. Tries to bend that into the top corner. It doesn't quite get enough on it. But it just wasn't their day. It's been a difficult season for Brentford ORG. They've had so many injuries. They've been decimated of injuries and obviously suspension to their leading man. So it's been hard. So to a certain extent, I think they'll be looking forward to the end of the season, figure out what's going to happen next year. If I've and Tony PERSON is to depart, and I've got no doubt with the structure they've got in bringing in players, they've already identified somebody to take his place. They won't panic. And they'll make sure that they're in a good position next year. They've got good energy. The manager always does a great job. So it's just been, I think I feel sorry for me because of injuries they've had. They've not really been on a fair playing field at times.

Speaker 11513.88s - 1532.32s

So that front three is the first time they've played together for various reasons that you've talked about there, Jamie PERSON. But do you think if they move forward without Ivan Tony, I know you say the Brentford ORG's acquisition suggests that they will bring in a player of a similar profile in order to replace him in the side. But if they are looking to plan for life without Tony PERSON, they have those players in there who can be devastating to the opposition's defence.

Speaker 41535.82s - 1571.04s

Yeah, absolutely. He went with the three of them today, which he doesn't always tend to do, because what you do when you throw your sort of big hitters onto the pitch at once, it takes away a great substitute to come on. You know, Visser can obviously do something, and Wemmo ORG's done it in the past. it does, doesn't enable you to have somebody that could come on and maybe get you a goal threat. So that, that's what one of the problems are. But I think they'll be fine next year. They will make sure they get the right player in. I'm no doubt that they've already identified it. They work very well behind the scenes and identify and getting good talent into the club. So that will be something that will be, you know, organised already. Ivan PERSON, I'm not sure if he knows where he's going already, but there will be clubs certainly after him and he's going to have a really busy summer, not just with the euros, but also what he

Speaker 11571.04s - 1583.14s

does at Brentford? Where does his profile suit? Is there a club that you think that that Ivan PERSON, Tony PERSON, the type of player that he is, that they need that kind of player? For me, it's difficult.

Speaker 71583.14s - 1610.1s

If he's going to stay in the Premier League ORG, who needs, should we call him an out and out number nine? He obviously dropped in a little bit today, but maybe a Chelsea, Arsenal ORG, depending on what they want to do, but they also like to have the freedom of the movement up top as well. So it's probably not as simple as, you know, there's 10 teams that want to buy him and 10 teams that could probably afford him. We don't even know how much, obviously, Brentford ORG are going to ask for him. There's so many if-bots and maybes. And as Jamie says, he's also got the Euros EVENT.

Speaker 41611s - 1614.96s

Do you think you feel more like Chelsea than an Arsenal ORG who needs somebody?

Speaker 71615.28s - 1642.64s

I think if you look at the Chelsea ORG team now and you wanted a focal point to playoff because they've got so many players that can play in and around it, I think he would be a perfect fit. Whether they're looking for that or not, I don't know. They've obviously bought a lot of players over the course of the last year or so.They've had a few injuries in that department themselves. But I said there's not loads and loads of options for him, but I'm sure plenty of teams would take him. But again, there's so many if buts and maybes.

Speaker 11642.64s - 1651.68s

You both mentioned the Euros EVENT. Would you take him? There's always two questions around England. There's one, what would you do? but again there's so many if-bots and maybes. You both mentioned the the euros. Would you take him? There's always two questions around England is one, what would you do and two, what do you think Garry Southgate PERSON would do?

Speaker 41651.68s - 1687.38s

We've got 26 players I think now so I expect I think I've and Tony PERSON will go and I think you know Watkins PERSON will go as well I think they both deserve it. Really good players, different profile obviously you know that Ivan PERSON will always be a player that if it gets to the latter stages and you get into a penalty shootout, he would obviously be fantastic.I love Jared Bowen PERSON. I mean, another great goal today. He's had a brilliant season. It's going to be, you know, I think Dominic PERSON has had a, I think he's shocked everybody coming into this season. So I think it will probably be between, you know, obviously, Selankykey, Ivan Tony and Watkins PERSON, who would be the two out of the three.

Speaker 11688.06s - 1702.06s

Yeah, it's a difficult decision for for Garry Southgate PERSON to make them because he likes to talk about bringing players in on form and playing. But Ivan Tony PERSON hasn't really been available for most of the season to see whatkind of form he's in. Which, I suppose, could

Speaker 71702.06s - 1727.08s

be a little bit of a bonus because he'll probably be the freshest player out there. You look how many games he's played obviously due to him being suspended. He's not been able to. So he's actually going to be going into a tournament sort of in September, October sort of formand freshness as opposed to sort of June and July when obviously everyone else will be coming. So I say, I think Garrette ORG's put a lot of faith in Tony PERSON previously in squads and stuff like that. We spoke about penalties. There's so many different variants that you have, but for me, now it's gone to 26.

Speaker 41727.08s - 1738.24s

I think it'll be a little bit easier. Jared PERSON can play wide. So that's why Jared Byrne PERSON, I think, is the certainty to go because he can play off one of the wide areas. You know, it's Marcus Rashford PERSON.I don't think his name was there, was it?

Speaker 01738.24s - 1756.76s

No. So I think Marcus Rasford PERSON is going to be under pressure for the Euros EVENT as well. He needs to, you know, it's not going to be easy for him to fit into that squad. Because other players have been in better form.If you're picking players on form, he doesn't make the squad. If you're picking players on what they've done previously for Gareth South PERSON, that will be obviously in Gareth PERSON's mind. But it would be difficult because of how poorly he's played this season to pick him.

Speaker 11756.76s - 1764s

The other player who's in with a chance of being in that Euro EVENT squad in the other team today is Jared Brantfway PERSON. Would you go with him, Phil PERSON?

Speaker 71764s - 1809.14s

Well, well, same again. Now it's gone to 26 players. He is going to be one for the Would you go with him, Phil PERSON? Well, same again. Now it's gone to 26 players. He is going to be one for the future that people are, you know, pushing at the moment. And I think even taking for the experience, the chance of, let's say, if he's fourth choice and half at the moment going away of England GPE,the chance of a fourth choice and half getting much game time is probably a little bit less than maybe a second or third choice forward player. So for me, if you see their future and obviously the future playing for England GPE, why not take him?And on form, like you said, but sometimes, you know, like you say, you've got sort of, we've played centre halves that have played a lot of games together for England and sometimes it's a safer option to play those. But he's not doing himself any harm at the moment. You know, he's putting the best possible case forward. But I say, now it's called the 26. I think there's probably a very good chance he makes it.

Speaker 41809.14s - 1844s

If you're picking players on form, I agree with you saying. He plays. He starts. You know, I think John Stones, obviously, is our number one centreback. I think you probably start him alongside John Stones PERSON. You know, probably, you know, Carl Walker at right back. Left back is obviously a position that we've got a bit of a problem with at the moment, and certainly of injuries. But I've just got the feeling sometimes with young players, mainly more so strikers in World Cups and Euros EVENT have made a difference. They seem to ones that come in and finish a tournament. But I think we'll see him in the team at some point. My only worry was he didn't play in the games against Belgium and Brazil GPE, if I remember right.

Speaker 71844s - 1846s

That was an opportunity to look at it. Yeah if I remember right. He didn't get any. That was an opportunity to look at it.

Speaker 41846s - 1874.5s

Yeah, I thought so. He deserved it. And if you look at the players, that's it. Eric Dyer has got himself right back in the fold because of his brilliant form at Bayern Munich ORG. And I know they've been delighted to him over there. And especially if they go on and win the Champions League EVENT, that'll be obviously important for him.But it's, yeah, it's not going to be easy. But I do think Jared PERSON, because of how he's played, what obviously goes against him is that zero caps. But do you know what? If you can play and he's confident and he's quick, there's no reason why he can't do it.Yeah, but I do agree.

Speaker 71874.6s - 1876.54s

I think he probably would have got more game time if.

Speaker 41877.28s - 1885.72s

Would that be your worry? That would be my worry, yeah. And I think he just looked at a list. There's quite a few players there. That I've played pretty well as well this season that you speak about. And it's a tough one. I think he's going to literally be 50-50, whether he makes the plane players there. That I've played pretty well as well this season that you speak about.

Speaker 71886.46s - 1889.2s

It's a tough one. I think he's going to literally be 50-50 whether he makes the plane or not.

Speaker 41890.8s - 1891s

Do you think he goes, you've tried and trusted?

Speaker 71893.06s - 1911.34s

So if you were picking the team for the first game, do you think you'd go with Harry McGuire and John Stalmers PERSON? Yeah, I do not see you taking the risk of a new partnership and something that's not worked previously. Whether it's the right thing or the thing going forward is totally different, but I think for the first game of the tournament, you go for tried and tested. Maybe at the top, top end of the pitch, less risk.

Speaker 41911.34s - 1913.96s

You can potentially throw a curveball

Speaker 01913.96s - 1917.16s

or something else in there, but I think for the back end of the pitch,

Speaker 71917.16s - 1919.56s

I'd be very surprised if it wasn't exactly what you just said.

Speaker 11919.56s - 1932.8s

Yeah, so do you feel that if, you know, in that position, you need to see a little bit more from him, not just in terms of giving him England GPE caps and giving him England experience, but maybe a bit longer career behind him, to be absolutely sure.

Speaker 71933.24s - 1939.38s

Yeah, I think so. We don't doubt he can do it. It's just until you've done it, you haven't done it. It's as simple as that.

Speaker 41939.38s - 1944.72s

So for me, if he was at Man City and he was playing this season, he was playing alongside John Stones PERSON,

Speaker 71944.78s - 1982.32s

and even if he'd not had an England GPE cap, but he'd had a relationship. Or say, for instance, Everton's left back, say it was Leighton Baines PERSON at the moment. And Leighton Baines PERSON was going to be on a plane starting left back. That would strengthen his case. But he's got no relationship. Okay, he's got a relationship with Jordan, which I suppose is one sort of string to his bow.But there's no relationships for him for the people that will be playing in and around him, really. So again, you go back to being the defensive unit. It's not just about how good a player is individually. It's all about how everyone works with each other. So I say the negative, not so much negative, the safer side of me as a defender would be, stick to what you sort of know, give the creative freedom to the people at the top end of the pitch.

Speaker 41982.32s - 2038.46s

Yeah, I think he's, you make absolutely a lot of sense there. He's a position you know better than anybody. But I just feel with that's the one area of the pitch where I still feel that bothers me or worries me from England GPE's perspective. Midfield is got so many good options up front as well. You know, Saka and Kane PERSON players like that.No worries. But just defensively, he's got to find the right balance, the right partnership. I'm not sure how many games we're going to have before the Euro's, but it's normally two or three friendlies. I think he needs a game. There's going to be a clamour for him. He's getting clean sheets in big games. He's marking good centre forwards and marking them out of the game. So I'm a big fan. Every time I see him, he's growing on me. And I don't see many better options out there, which is obviously also important. And he needs, but he needs a chance and opportunity before the tournament starts just to show what he can do.You can now follow Sky Sports ORG on WhatsApp.

Speaker 12054.5s - 2138.94s

For Sunday, certainly in terms of the title race, with both Arsenal in the North London GPE Derby and Manchester City in action after the North London Derby EVENT. But it's also big in terms of the games at the bottom as well because Nottingham Forest ORG will be desperate for the points. What we already know is that Sheffield United ORG have been relegated. They've been beaten 5'1 by Newcastle United and they cannot now preserve their Premier League status for another season. So Sheffield United will be playing in the championship next season, but who will join them? It's still very much to be decided. Already today, we've seen that both Everton and Brentford have secured their place in the Premier League for next season. But Nottingham Forest, Luton and Burnley ORG, still in with a chance of survival at this stage. After Nottingham Forest have played Manchester City tomorrow, they've got Sheffield, United, Chelsea and Burnley ORG.Then we've got Everton, West Ham and Fulham, for Luton ORG. And for Burnley, arguably, City ORG accepted, the toughest fixtures for the end of the season. They've got Newcastle, Tottenham ORG, and then that game, as we know, against Nottingham Forest at the end of the season.I mean, look, really disappointed for Sheffield United ORG, but we've known for a little while that they were going to be heading for the championship next season. For those other teams, at various times, I think we've written most of them off, I think. But one of them is going to be staying in the league.

Speaker 72139.04s - 2160.52s

I think that's the beauty of the league. You know, someone's safe. They lose a few games. They come into a relegation battle and they win a couple. But I think for the majority of the season, we've looked at sort of the league, you know, someone's safe. They lose a few games. They come into a relegation battle and they win a couple. But I think for the majority of the season, we've looked at sort of the bottom three, bottom four teams. And we realize that it's going to come down to them. And when you just put the pictures up and you see the last game of the seasons, obviously, Forrest versus Burnley ORG. Huge, isn't it? It's potentially, you know, the decider for to see who stays up and who doesn't.

Speaker 12160.52s - 2164.12s

It's going to be huge that game, particularly because of the form that Burnley ORG have shown recently.

Speaker 42164.12s - 2165.84s

One defeat and eight for Burnley ORG, that's incredible.

Speaker 12166.4s - 2169.5s

And I think for Forrestes PERSON, it won winning nine, is that right? I think so.

Speaker 42170.08s - 2193.74s

Very difficult. Burnley ORG, that might end up being a really vital point. They're hung in there today. They played well. Vincent Company PERSON. I have to be honest, I watched them a few times earlier in the season. I just don't, I thought there's no chance they can stay up.But they really have stuck together, important results. And they'll just be hoping that he can get Nottingham Forest ORG. But they really have stuck together, important results. And he'll just be hoping that he can get Nottingham Forest ORG. And last out of the season just needed a win. If he can get to that point, he'll be delighted. And that'll be some occasion for sure.

Speaker 12196.72s - 2218.94s

I mean, as you say, Notting Forrest GPE, not in good form at the moment. Burnley have put in good performances throughout the season and not quite managed to get over the line until recently when they've started to pick points up and get the late equalizer against Manchester United today. For Luton, they're up against Everton on Friday night next, but they themselves in Luton ORG don't seem to be on good form.Again, it was another defeat today at the hands of wolves.

Speaker 72219.24s - 2252s

Yeah, it's a tough one for Luton ORG because they've kept themselves in that chance to stay up. But every time they've probably got an option to get out of the relegation zone, they let themselves down. But they'll be hoping Everton have had their week, three wins on a spin, hopefully, and they'll be tired and stuff. Because they get an opportunity now. They play Friday night. They get a chance to put some unbelievable pressure on the teams around them if they can potentially get a win at home. But like I say, the Premier League ORG is a really, really tough division. And to go on win a game is fantastic. And Luton ORG have shown they can do that, but they've also shown it's not that simple to go back to back to back.

Speaker 12252s - 2267.22s

I imagine anybody looking at those final fixtures and working out where teams might end up if they're trying to predict what happens. We'll be looking at Forest game against Manchester City ORG tomorrow and sort of writing Forest ORG off in that. Do you think there is a chance for Forest against City ORG?

Speaker 42267.72s - 2279.86s

Of course there is a chance. They got a draw against them last year. It's never easy. They're trying to start playing for their lives to a certain extent. And I'm sure that Rob Edwards, Vincent, company with their Man City shirts on tomorrow.

Speaker 02279.98s - 2303.7s

Vincent will get that old shirt on the year and they'll be cheering Man City ORG on because that's what it's like. You've got to, you just got to hope that things go your way. But they are dangerous on the counterattack, Nottingham Forest ORG. Manchester City ORG of having to churn out lots of games. They play Brighton ORG. Is there just a little bit of tidies?Look, they're unbelievable. They're an incredible side, and they're relentless at this time of the year. So, of course, you'd have to say no, but you just never know in the Premier League ORG. Anything is possible.

Speaker 12304.26s - 2318.9s

Anything is possible. But if we're looking into what's happened in previous seasons, we know this is where Manchester City ORG kick into gear, and they've certainly looked like they're going to be doing that with big wins in midweek and that sort of determination and focus in their performance.

Speaker 42318.94s - 2342.12s

This would probably be a harder game though, Kelly, than Brighton ORG, although Brighton ORG obviously a better, because it's more, that suited them a little bit more, the way that Brighton ORG tried to play out and obviously a better, because it's more, that suited them a little bit more. The way that Brighton ORG tried to play out and that's just played into Manchester City's ORG hands, but I think this one will be slightly different. They'll be a bit more about set pieces. They'll make it difficult. They'll sit back. They won't try to play sort of Man City ORG their own game. It will be, you know, I think it'd be a tough game. Although I do think they'll navigate it.

Speaker 72342.12s - 2362.82s

I agree. It's going to be a totally different type of game. It's like Brighton almost played into Man City's ORG hands in the last game. And that's what Forrest PERSON's job is to make it as difficult as possible. They could get some, you know, an amazing win and put some bit of daylight between them and the bottom three. But realistically, I don't think it's going to happen. But I'll be watching and I'll see how it goes on.

Speaker 12367.04s - 2374.86s

Well, Arsenal fans will be hoping that Manchester City slip up if Arsenal do their job against Tottenham ORG. Liverpool ORG will feel that the title perhaps is beyond them, even though that's not technically in the case.

Speaker 02374.96s - 2397.4s

After dropping points again today, this time against West Ham ORG, and certainly tempers are starting to flare. There appeared to be something of a discussion between Mohammed Sala and Juergen Klopp PERSON on the touchline. Sala PERSON was asked about this afterwards and said, look, I'm not going to say anything because whatever I say is going to just add to the fire,

Speaker 12397.54s - 2401.1s

sort of implying that it would maybe be taken out of context,

Speaker 42401.3s - 2403.2s

but blown up into something that it wasn't.

Speaker 12403.84s - 2404.76s

And guess what's happened?

Speaker 42404.88s - 2408.46s

It's suddenly the headline. If I say anything that everything's going to catch fire.

Speaker 12408.72s - 2411.18s

But what do you read into that?

Speaker 42411.38s - 2481.86s

I watched the game live and then obviously they showed the clip of them arguing. And it felt a little bit uncharacteristic for both of them because Yergan Klopp PERSON doesn't tend to fall out of his own players. Mohammed Salas PERSON obviously frustrated because he's not starting the game and there was a few choice words between him. It wasn't like you can't dress it up. He wasn't. He wants to play. There's obviously a few, I think there's 10 minutes to go in the game. He wants to get on the picture and make something happen. I don't like to see it, but it happens, passions andeverything that goes along with football and obviously with Liverpool ORG sort of throwing points away at the moment, these things do happen. Now, Mohammed Salas PERSON had a couple of incidents. I'm trying to think with Mane, maybe early in his Liverpool ORG career. But there hasn't been too many. He's been an incredible servant for the club.I do believe his time is coming to an end. I think in the summer, I think, because obviously his contract's running down, I wouldn't be surprised if he were to leave. Obviously, you know, Yergan Klopp PERSON's going as well. But I think the most important thing is because of his legacy and how well he's done, just the quickly this is brushed under the carpet, the better.Because he's been a legend.
