Speaker 541.22s - 50.42s

I know you like that. I know you like that. How long have you been back? Back. I see the girls in the club. They're getting wild for me.

Speaker 1450.7s - 58.08s

Welcome into the Saturday show, everybody. Hope you're doing well on this Saturday morning. I'm Jay Katch, joined by Michelle Bodkin PERSON once again. Michelle PERSON, how are you?

Speaker 1058.26s - 59.48s

I'm doing pretty good.

Speaker 1459.54s - 81.02s

We like to hear. We are supposed to be out on the plaza. So maybe at some point you may hear the audio change a little bit. There's a big old event going be out on the plaza, so maybe at some point you may hear the audio change a little bit. There's a big old event going on out on the, essentially to the right of the Devereaux Mansion FAC out on the plaza here at the triad center. Our own Scott Gerard is competing against some of the top grill masters, I guess is the best way to call it in the state,

Speaker 481.12s - 87s

if not the country. And the stakes that those guys were pulling, they had like, so the main competition day is stakes.

Speaker 1087.2s - 87.54s

Okay.

Speaker 1487.72s - 88.82s

The stakes that they were handed out, Michelle PERSON.

Speaker 1088.94s - 92.26s

I'm like, yeah, that's going to cost you a pretty penny in any restaurant you go to.

Speaker 1492.46s - 93s

For sure.

Speaker 1093.14s - 94.84s

Because they were thick, chop.

Speaker 1494.98s - 97.04s

It was like, okay. Yeah, these are going to be legit.

Speaker 1097.22s - 99.04s

These people are serious, man.

Speaker 1499.24s - 108.78s

So you want to stop on by and, like, check it out. You can do it. There are a number of pretty high profile outlets out there. I said, Scott Gerard PERSON's competing in this. uh it should be fun it's going to be interesting

Speaker 10108.78s - 113.02s

to see how this all goes it was really fun last year you wouldn't know because you couldn't bother

Speaker 14113.02s - 119.26s

to show up i had some other engagements you know but yeah it should be a good time so definitely

Speaker 10119.26s - 126.04s

come out and check it out the samples last year that we got were phenomenal, so I'm very upset that we're

Speaker 6126.04s - 130.48s

inside at the moment. We'll have to figure that out. We'll have to figure that out because I want

Speaker 14130.48s - 135.38s

the free food. They need to come up here now. Yeah, come serve us. Yeah, no, so we'll figure that out.

Speaker 6135.62s - 142.04s

But nonetheless, hope everybody's doing well. And we will talk about a number of things on today's

Speaker 14142.04s - 146.66s

show. We're going to be checking all of the different topics, including college basketball.

Speaker 10146.84s - 149.38s

We're going to check in with Bob Casper from Real Golf Radio ORG.

Speaker 14149.48s - 150.24s

You just heard their show.

Speaker 10150.34s - 153.56s

But he will check in with us, give us the latest stuff from the PGA Championship EVENT.

Speaker 14154.1s - 158.76s

So far as I know, Christian PERSON, you can correct me if I'm wrong here. Nobody got arrested this morning, right, at the PGA Championship EVENT?

Speaker 13159.48s - 160.8s

Not that I know of, no.

Speaker 14161.16s - 161.52s

I know.

Speaker 10161.52s - 173.66s

And no one died either. It's like those signs, you know, zero days, one day since last accident. Oh, man. Yeah, that was a crazy, crazy story coming out of the PGA tour yesterday.

Speaker 6173.8s - 174.02s

Yeah.

Speaker 10175.3s - 181.06s

Just absolutely unbelievable. Not exactly what you would think about when you think golf.

Speaker 14181.26s - 187.86s

Yeah. Absolutely insane story. By the way, like when the highlights of the week, I'll just start off right now.

Speaker 10187.92s - 188.58s

Okay, go for it.

Speaker 14188.58s - 191.98s

Twitter ORG is at its best when moments like that go down.

Speaker 10192.08s - 192.7s

Oh, for sure.

Speaker 14192.82s - 214.24s

Because the memes that we're flying, the hot takes, all kinds of stuff, it's when it's at its absolute best was when the number one golfer in the world is being hauled off by Louisville Metropolitan Police ORG and gets booked. He has a mugshot taken in an orange jumpsuit and then less than an hour later, he's back on the range getting ready. And by the way, goes out there and like steamrolls his way around a course.

Speaker 10214.24s - 221.12s

I was about to say he actually shockingly still had a great day despite being behind, not getting the warm-ups.

Speaker 6221.84s - 225.96s

I mean, I can't even imagine.

Speaker 14226.5s - 228.04s

I'm not a golfer, though, either.

Speaker 6228.32s - 232.5s

So either way, it would be disastrous for me.

Speaker 10232.66s - 236.62s

But, like, I don't think there's any amount of warm-ups that could help me.

Speaker 6236.76s - 237.04s

Okay.

Speaker 0237.34s - 240s

Well, the fun part about it is, not the fun part,

Speaker 14240.3s - 246.92s

the funny part about all of it was, is like, Jeff Darlington from ESPN ORG is sitting there like, hey, what do you guys do it?

Speaker 10247.04s - 252.88s

And then if you hear the audio of Jeff Darlington's PERSON video, there's a cop, it's like, hey, you need to back up here.

Speaker 14252.98s - 254.24s

And he's like, hey, I'm media.

Speaker 10254.34s - 264.5s

And they're like, and then afterwards, Jeff Darlington PERSON said the cops eventually turned to him and said, hey, who did we just arrest? That should tell you a lot, I feel like.

Speaker 14265.06s - 265.58s

Yeah.

Speaker 10266.68s - 271.54s

If you don't even know who you just arrested, then why are you arresting them?

Speaker 14272.1s - 291.32s

If you read the police report, the cop got dragged a little bit. He attached himself to the vehicle, per the police report, ended up getting abrasions on his knee and his arm. And the story, the police report, you can read the direct police report. This officer had his $80 work pants ruined. They were damaged beyond repair, Michelle PERSON. Sad.

Speaker 10291.32s - 293.24s

It was an incredible story, yes.

Speaker 14293.42s - 294.76s

So that was the highlight of my week.

Speaker 10294.76s - 297.14s

You got a highlight of the week? Yeah, you know what?

Speaker 14297.56s - 299.22s

As frivolous as that was, by the way.

Speaker 10299.28s - 314.88s

Right, right, yes. I got my kind of first chance to jump on and talk about Utah in the Big 12 with Big 12 insiders, which is part of the 247 Sports Network ORG.

Speaker 6315.44s - 316.66s

And it was a lot of fun.

Speaker 10316.66s - 324.82s

I have to say it's going to be interesting and fun the next year to jumping on and doing some of these shows.

Speaker 6324.92s - 330.06s

Because, like, there is going to be a legit sense of we don't know you very well.

Speaker 10330.64s - 335.36s

Whereas, you know, the Pact 12 EVENT, there was a lot of familiarity at this point in time between everyone.

Speaker 6335.56s - 336.98s

You kind of knew what you were getting.

Speaker 10337.76s - 347.3s

That doesn't exist at the moment. So I think that makes those conversations way more fun because you're actually learning something about each other.

Speaker 6348.02s - 356.18s

And that, I mean, that was a similar feeling, you know, the past two years getting to talk to Florida GPE insiders and kind of have those conversations.

Speaker 0356.52s - 359.32s

So I'm kind of, I'm looking forward to that end of it.

Speaker 6359.4s - 362.84s

I think it's going to be fun getting to know everyone and making some new friends.

Speaker 0363.44s - 365.2s

That's with Tim Fitzgerald PERSON, right?

Speaker 14365.32s - 365.6s

Yes.

Speaker 10365.68s - 372.4s

We had him on DJ and PK not that long ago. He's a fun dude to get to know. He's very, yeah. He's very, very fun. And Big Bee PERSON as well.

Speaker 14372.56s - 377.24s

Yeah. Okay. I haven't met Big Bee PERSON yet, but I've seen enough of their, they do good works. That's cool.

Speaker 10377.42s - 378.68s

Yeah, yeah, they're fun guys.

Speaker 14378.8s - 382.46s

So Michelle, bridging the gap between Utah and the Big 12 ORG.

Speaker 10382.52s - 385.96s

You know what? I'm going to do my best. I'm going to do my best. Yes, we like to hear. Christian, you got a highlight of the week before Utah and the Big 12 ORG. You know what? I'm going to do my best. I'm going to do my best.

Speaker 14386.14s - 389.72s

Yes, we like to hear. Christian, you got a highlight of the week before we really get going here?

Speaker 13390.3s - 396.46s

Yeah, it was a pretty eventful week for me. Last Sunday was my birthday. Happy birthday.

Speaker 0396.56s - 397.42s

It was also Mother's Day too.

Speaker 10397.62s - 398.62s

And happy Mother's Day.

Speaker 0399.18s - 400.48s

That's quite a combo.

Speaker 10401.82s - 405.36s

It's not the first time I've had to share my birthday with Mother's Day.

Speaker 0405.44s - 406.32s

But it was fun.

Speaker 10406.4s - 407.92s

I went up to my parents' house.

Speaker 14408.04s - 413.9s

We had dinner and stuff, and it was kind of like a combo, happy birthday, happy Mother's Day kind of deal.

Speaker 10414s - 414.64s

So it was fun.

Speaker 14414.82s - 415.02s

Okay.

Speaker 10415.12s - 415.86s

You're a pretty young boy.

Speaker 14415.92s - 417.5s

He's like the ripe old age of 25 now?

Speaker 10417.88s - 418.56s

24, yeah.

Speaker 14418.64s - 419s

Oh, jeez.

Speaker 13422s - 422.38s

Depressing.

Speaker 14422.92s - 425.14s

Christian, I'm like 11 years older than you.

Speaker 13426.56s - 427.86s

Making us feel old Christian PERSON.

Speaker 14428.08s - 428.78s

Come on, we go.

Speaker 13429.08s - 430.08s

No, but that's awesome, man.

Speaker 10430.58s - 433.24s

That's, okay, May birthdays, I never thought about that.

Speaker 14433.28s - 436.04s

You'd have some crossover with Mother's Day and whatnot.

Speaker 10436.28s - 438.18s

Yep, yeah, it happens every once in a while.

Speaker 14438.38s - 438.58s

Okay.

Speaker 10438.66s - 439.72s

But we get through it, it's fun.

Speaker 13439.82s - 441.38s

I mean, I really don't mind sharing.

Speaker 14441.54s - 448.46s

Plus, my wife's birthday is like the first week of May. So we kind of already celebrated, kind of like a both of our both.

Speaker 1448.46s - 449.6s

It's a combo thing.

Speaker 14449.82s - 451.46s

Okay, cool. Nothing wrong with that.

Speaker 13451.6s - 453.44s

Yeah, pretty eventful first couple weeks of May.

Speaker 14454.08s - 459.28s

Sounds like it. All right. Let's dive on in though, Michelle PERSON. Let's talk a little college basketball.

Speaker 13459.5s - 459.98s

Let's do it.

Speaker 10460.42s - 469.4s

The local college hoops teams, roster is completely in flux, coaching staffs in flux, but it's no different than anybody else. It feels like in college basketball across the country right now.

Speaker 4474.5s - 475.12s

Just this morning, I guess, quote a little, breaking news out of BYU ORG.

Speaker 0479.34s - 502.78s

Noah Waterman, who was the starting four men last year, shot 37% from three. Pretty key part, all things considered of what they did last year. He's committed to Louisville ORG. So starting two big men from BYU from this past year, Ali Khalifa and Noah Waterman will be suiting up for the Louisville Cardinals ORG, and they will be playing against their former head coach,Mark Pope, who's in Kentucky GPE of all places. So kind of a funny dynamic there. But I think it kind of explains the whole, I don't know,

Speaker 14505.28s - 505.58s

what the Transfer Portal era has become, Michelle PERSON.

Speaker 0505.66s - 505.8s

Yeah.

Speaker 4507.02s - 507.12s

It's so transactional.

Speaker 0509.04s - 513.32s

And you know this from the Utah GPE perspective right now. Davon Smith has an incredible season. He's out.

Speaker 14517.24s - 522.3s

So you look at it and you say, people want to get upset about it. But at the same time, you can't really get upset because this is literally happening nationwide. Yeah.

Speaker 10522.58s - 531.06s

Yeah. This is pretty much a problem. Everyone's having to deal with. And there's just no getting around it until there's some rules maybe put in place.

Speaker 6531.06s - 531.28s

Yes.

Speaker 0531.64s - 561.72s

And again, I'm not saying that the transfer portal is bad. I'm not saying that NIL ORG is bad. I'm saying how those things exist together in this moment is not great. But I think there's a way to do it that makes everybody happy and just, I think, would help especially like a sport like college basketball, kind of get back on track again.I feel like they've lost themselves a little bit. It's just too easy to leave. It's too easy to have roster turnover.

Speaker 10562.78s - 567.56s

And in that case, it just makes it really hard, I think, for fans to really engage and care about these teams.

Speaker 0567.56s - 573.48s

Because every year, you're basically dealing with an entirely new team and you don't

Speaker 10573.48s - 577.14s

know all these people. Football, it's a little bit different because the roster's so big.

Speaker 6577.7s - 581.74s

You're still going to have a bit of a core of people, I think, for the most part,

Speaker 10582.1s - 588.46s

unless you're Dion Sanders at Colorado ORG, in which case, I mean, that's just a completely and totally different story.

Speaker 14592.46s - 609.72s

But there's still an opportunity to kind of get to know your team in football. I feel like that's getting a little bit lost in basketball. And I think it's really hurting the sport. So here's the question I've got for you is there's been, I'll go to the Utah's perspective for a moment here, is that Craig Smith PERSON, I don't say, I don't say he's out on the hot seat, but I think it's a little bit warm, if that makes sense.

Speaker 6610.24s - 623.3s

And there are people out there that a lot of Utah fans, and Craig, if I'm wrong on this, a lot of Utah fans came to love Utah via Rick Majerris and those running Ute's teams of the 1990s. Trust me, there's a kid who grew up in the state, you did the same thing.

Speaker 14624.06s - 626.64s

You couldn't help but watch what they were doing.

Speaker 6626.64s - 633.62s

And a lot of people latched on to that. And I think a lot of Utah GPE fans are a bit jaded because they think of those glory days and say,

Speaker 14633.84s - 649.84s

why can't we get back to that level? Craig Smith, by all accounts, when he came to Utah GPE, had the bona fide credentials to really elevate Utah back to what they are. But it just hasn't necessarily worked out to the level. Now, this past season, had they been able to figure out a way to win a road game or two in the Pac-12?

Speaker 10650s - 650.84s

Yeah, that's a problem.

Speaker 14650.9s - 669.28s

They may have made the NCAA ORG tournament. I think the whole tenor would have changed around that, but they did fall short. So now there's rumors about a guy like Andre Miller PERSON potentially coming on staff. You and I have heard those rumors. We've been talking to people. We'll see if it happens. Now, they officially announced the hire of low Heath PERSON. Is I get that correct? Leith PERSON.

Speaker 4669.32s - 669.84s

Leith PERSON.

Speaker 14669.9s - 670.74s

Leith PERSON.

Speaker 4670.74s - 672.34s

Okay, yeah.

Speaker 10672.34s - 673.34s

Low Leith PERSON.

Speaker 4673.34s - 686.32s

So there's at least one assistant being hired. My long-winded way of asking you by setting all that up is saying, is Craig Smith, in your mind, capable of adapting to what college basketball is today? I mean, at the end of it, he has to.

Speaker 10686.8s - 691.46s

If he wants to keep the job, you have to.

Speaker 14692.14s - 695.64s

And even if you don't necessarily want to stay here,

Speaker 10695.84s - 698.94s

if you want to get hired elsewhere, you have to show that, you know,

Speaker 14699.1s - 705.8s

so it's either sink or swim at this point in time.

Speaker 6705.88s - 708.16s

You either adapt to what it is or you need to get out.

Speaker 14709.44s - 716.12s

And, you know, I know that that's been a challenge for coaches across the board in college sports.

Speaker 6716.12s - 722.02s

It's kind of difficult and hard, and it hasn't been an easy process.

Speaker 14722.2s - 735.82s

Again, I think you see guys like, you know, Nick Saban PERSON kind of stepping out because it's just gone too far in a way that they're not able to adapt to it.

Speaker 10737.42s - 742.82s

And, you know, I think, like, Kyle Whittingham PERSON's done a good job of adapting.

Speaker 0743.82s - 746.2s

At least enough.

Speaker 6746.44s - 748.56s

Could he probably adapt some more, probably?

Speaker 0748.76s - 750.74s

But I mean, he's an old school guy.

Speaker 10751s - 752.8s

But he's not dabble Swinney PERSON.

Speaker 0753.34s - 754.22s

Oh, gosh, no.

Speaker 6755.72s - 759.66s

Let's add him to the list of, along with Dion Sanders PERSON,

Speaker 14759.82s - 760.86s

what you doing, baby.

Speaker 0761.76s - 762.36s

Anyways, go ahead.

Speaker 14763.1s - 763.86s

Didn't mean to derail you.

Speaker 10764s - 764.88s

Oh, you're good.

Speaker 14766.16s - 768s

But, you know, and I think

Speaker 10768s - 781.64s

now it's looking at the basketball side of things, I think it's Craig Smith's turn. And again, I don't want to say that all of this is his fault, butlike he does share some blame

Speaker 0781.64s - 783.78s

in why this

Speaker 10783.78s - 813.5s

has not worked. This is not looking the way that I think Utah GPE fans want it to look. And so, again, it's if you value the job, if you want to stay, if you want to really build this program, then you have to adapt. And that doesn't necessarily mean that you have to adapt to everything. Absolutely, I think it's important for people to keep their own flavor in certain aspects and areas. But, like, you have to adapt and you have to get on board with what the current situation is simply just to survive.

Speaker 0813.7s - 815.7s

It's probably going to change again.

Speaker 10816.66s - 818.42s

And you'll have to adapt again.

Speaker 0818.42s - 826.14s

But, like, in the meantime, take some pride in your job and do what you have to in order to get this to work.

Speaker 10826.62s - 826.76s

Sure.

Speaker 14826.86s - 838.02s

And that brings me to what on the BYU ORG side of things is I think in some small way, Kevin Young may be better suited for this era of college basketball than most coaches because the NBA ORG is so transactional.

Speaker 6838.2s - 840.1s

You're constantly shifting rosters.

Speaker 0840.28s - 854.42s

Now, NBA ORG teams have the benefit of actually having, you know, long-term contracts, guys on four- and five-year deals. But any more than in the NBA, we can look no further than Donovan Mitchell and him essentially forcing his way out of Utah GPE. And these superstars that decide they want to play elsewhere and they get moved.

Speaker 14855.08s - 872.6s

It's a very much dynamic of what happens in the NBA where each year you kind of come into training camp and look at you and say, okay, what do we got? And you kind of have to roll with the punches there. And I think Kevin Young, having spent 15 years now in the NBA game, even at the G League level, he understands it's about development and it's also about being adaptable.

Speaker 0872.8s - 876.22s

And that's, I think, going to benefit BYU ORG.

Speaker 6876.42s - 880.82s

Now, I say that by saying BYU only has eight guys currently on their roster.

Speaker 0881.06s - 883.04s

They've got five scholarships still to fill.

Speaker 10883.24s - 908.2s

Yeah. Now, the report. Utah GPE is in the same boat. Sure, yeah. But if you believe the reports, I'm sure Utah GPE's the same thing. There's a number of guys taking visits. BYU had two big men a visit earlier this week. There's a high-level guard in Chas Lanier who reportedly is visiting right now, BYU ORG. Elijah Crawford, who had signed with Stanford, Brandon Dunson, who's BYU is one of their assistant coaches, recruited him to Stanford ORG, new regime takes over at Stanford, and he decides to look elsewhere. He's reportedly going to visit BYU early next week.

Speaker 14908.56s - 927.16s

So there's a long way to go here, Michelle PERSON, before these rosters are set. But these coaches, you've got to, you've got to be able to adapt to it. Because if you don't, you're dead in the water. And for the life of me,I don't get how, in the football sense, Davos Swinney PERSON can say, well, yeah, we're just going to do our thing. It's like, dude, you're falling behind here.

Speaker 1927.16s - 927.36s

Yeah.

Speaker 14927.64s - 930.46s

And that's the problem is you've, adapt or die.

Speaker 1930.56s - 931.76s

That's a great term for this.

Speaker 10932.08s - 953.44s

And it'll be interesting to see how these programs, speaking of Utah and BYU ORG, come out of this because I don't expect either roster to be set probably till July. Yeah. I mean, that's a strong possibility. That's absolutely a strong possibility. I think, and I know that that makes fans on both sides panic a little bit because they'rewatching all these guys commit to other places.

Speaker 6954.36s - 960.92s

And it feels like the talent pool is just dwindling away and who are we going to get?

Speaker 10960.98s - 961.36s

Oh, no.

Speaker 6961.86s - 967.96s

But, you know, it's just kind of what this is at the moment.

Speaker 0967.96s - 986.6s

And to your point about Kevin Young being maybe about as well equipped as you could hope for to deal with what college basketball currently is because of his experience in the NBA ORG, it goes back to a theory that we discussed not too long ago that I think that where I said, I think

Speaker 10986.6s - 991.1s

you're going to see college coaches start having a lot more success at the pro level.

Speaker 4991.9s - 996.52s

And pro level coaches having a lot more success at the college level, I think you're going to

Speaker 10996.52s - 1005.46s

see that transaction a lot more because that's basically what college athletics speaking primarily about basketball and football is turning into.

Speaker 01005.72s - 1011.46s

And so because they're going to be a much more similar product, the crossover is just going

Speaker 61011.46s - 1014.02s

to make a whole lot more sense than it ever has.

Speaker 141014.78s - 1026.8s

I'm with you because anymore, these two levels of the sport are becoming almost like sympathica with each other because it is. It's free agency in college sports where back in the day, the coaches controlled everything.

Speaker 61026.98s - 1061.7s

And there are college coaches that want to control everything. Look at what Chip Kelly PERSON was like as a college coach in football. But anymore, the athletes are being given more and more of their freedom to decide what their future is going to be. And that's kind of what the NBA ORG has become. So you're right. Yeah, there are going to be coaches from the NBA ORG level. And speaking of Kevin Young coming down from the NBA ORG, who I think are going to fit quite well. But there's other coaches, yeah, who jump up from the college ranks and the pro ranks and do quite well for themselves as well. I think you look at Billy Donovan PERSON.He won two national championships of Florida GPE. And, yeah, he hasn't reached the mountain top in the NBA ORG, but he's been a fairly above average coach, I think.

Speaker 141062s - 1084.54s

So it's, I don't think there's ever a perfect scenario that's going to play out here. But you're right. These coaching staffs here locally, they have to be able to figure it out very quickly. But if they're going to be intent on bringing over some international players, which I understand BYU is very much intent on trying to get some kids out of Europe LOC potentially, those guys typically don't sign until June or July.

Speaker 101084.66s - 1091.62s

So that's why I say these rosters, they are far from complete. They're sitting with Utah at eight right now. I believe they're at eight.

Speaker 141091.78s - 1100.04s

They still have five spots to fill. You've got 13 scholarships to fill out. So there are 10 guys between BYU and Utah GPE right now that are somewhere in the world.

Speaker 101100.28s - 1103.02s

Somewhere in the world. And we don't know who they are yet.

Speaker 141103.36s - 1121.54s

That will be on the roster this fall when they tip it off. So it's an interesting dynamic out there to track because it's just funny to me that, okay, you have, in BYU's case, Mark Pope leaves for Kentucky GPE. He is trying to bring guys like Dallon Hall PERSON over with him. He got, oh, the kid from Farmington GPE. Yeah.

Speaker 101121.68s - 1122.64s

The name is escaping me all of a sudden.

Speaker 141123.52s - 1124.4s

Oh, that's bad.

Speaker 101124.98s - 1126.02s

I'm right there with you, though.

Speaker 141126.38s - 1129.24s

So he pulls him, but none of his current players are going.

Speaker 101129.58s - 1129.66s

Yeah.

Speaker 141129.66s - 1134.34s

Two of his former players are going to his arch rival at Louisville ORG.

Speaker 101134.56s - 1134.9s

Right.

Speaker 141135.16s - 1137.02s

It's like, what is going on here?

Speaker 101137.06s - 1143.5s

But I think it's kind of a dichotomy and just kind of a glance into what college basketball is in this modern era.

Speaker 141143.56s - 1150.52s

And it's kind of a funny deal. All right. We're going to take a time out here. We'll come back on the other side. I believe we have figured out our connection issues in the show.

Speaker 101150.64s - 1151.08s

What?

Speaker 141151.56s - 1166.3s

I get to be closer to the barbecue. Yes, we're going to run out and sit more by the smokers and smell those delicious meats grilling up. It's the pitmaster barbecue competition happening here at the triad center FAC with it for you guys. Pitmaster ORG barbecue cookoff. Excuse me. I got that right.Got to get that right.

Speaker 101166.46s - 1166.78s

Yes.

Speaker 141167.26s - 1174.46s

But we'll be back on the other side and might sound a little bit different, but we'll be outside. So more in a moment right here on the Saturday show on 975, the KSL Sports Zone ORG.

It really does.

Speaker 141287.46s - 1289.7s

We've got grills going up and down.

Speaker 101290.06s - 1310.6s

I try to the triad center here. We're just adjacent to the Devereaux Mansion FAC if you want to stop by. Our own very own Scotty ride PERSON, I can see him right over there. It's grilling up something delicious. They're doing steaks today, as far as I'm aware. Also doing ribs, cobbler and Michelle. Not one, but two styles of wings, drums and flats. It's a big competition.

Speaker 141311.34s - 1311.58s

Oh.

Speaker 101312.02s - 1313.64s

Give me some them wings.

Speaker 141313.76s - 1315.6s

Yeah, so we got a bunch of things set up here.

Speaker 101315.68s - 1318.08s

So we'd love for you guys to stop by and say, hi, if you're in the area.

Speaker 141319.08s - 1326.8s

It's good to be out here, and obviously we'll be tracking how things are going. But I'm telling you, Michelle PERSON, those stakes were, like, right behind us right over here. I know we can see that, but they were like

Speaker 101326.8s - 1332.04s

good inch and a half thick cut. Yeah, so they actually had to pull a chip, but you had to like,

Speaker 141332.38s - 1345.28s

you got to get in line. So like number one got to pick what he thinks is the best steak, like marbling and the whole deal. So this is pretty cool. It would be fun competition, obviously, and not to mention delicious competition at the same time. Yes.

Speaker 121345.92s - 1346.38s

All right.

Speaker 141346.46s - 1351.76s

So we just talked some college hoops, Michelle PERSON. Now, I want to talk a little bit about, we talked about the Transfer Portal PRODUCT.

Speaker 121351.76s - 1381.46s

And I want to kind of morph that and talk a little more about football for a moment here. And the premise I'm going off here is that by and large, college football rosters are set. Now, they can still have some movement, obviously, because there could be a straggler or two in terms of the transfer portal, a late high school or junior college signing or the like. But by and large, those type of signings this time of yeararen't going to impact the success of this fall of these universities. Does that make sense?

Speaker 101381.76s - 1385.84s

Yeah. Yeah, at this point, I think you are what you are.

Speaker 141385.86s - 1386.04s

Yeah.

Speaker 101386.82s - 1390.34s

At least you should have a pretty good idea of who you are if you don't.

Speaker 141390.44s - 1393.44s

You might be in trouble. You may be the bottom dweller this year.

Speaker 101393.5s - 1406.74s

Yeah, you may not be the best. That's for sure. But, you know, I still expect Utah GPE to bring in a couple more guys. I know that they're being kind of selective.

Speaker 61407.32s - 1447.14s

As it should be. And that's exactly it. They don't have to rush. They don't have to bring in warm bodies, so to speak. Like, they can take their time and really decide, you know, who's going to add some value to us.And you may not see that on the field per se this fall, but it's going to show up in practices with the scout team. And who knows? Maybe someone does, you know, come in and surprise and ends up being a big time contributor. But for the most part, that roster is set. They know who they are.And anyone that they're trying to add isn't necessarily, I don't think, going to be expected to be a huge contributor.

Speaker 141447.7s - 1470.82s

And I know you joined the Big 12 Insiders earlier this week to talk about Utah GPE's entrance into this conference. I don't think anybody within the sound of our voice is going to disagree that Utah is going to be one, maybe two in the Big 12 ORG preseason poll. You talk about the fact that Utah is trying to essentially maybe add a piece or two that can like kind of bolster things. I think it's the same thing for BYU ORG in this circumstance.

Speaker 61471.42s - 1485.96s

But whereas Utah GPE, they're coming into a conference where they're expected to have a lot of success. From the BYU side of it, you look at it and say, okay, they started the season five and two a year ago, felt like, okay, it felt inevitable at some point. BYU would pull off a sixth win.

Speaker 01486.4s - 1501.5s

Alas, five straight losses. And I can tell you, the discontent in Provo GPE juxtaposed with the success that their basketball program had in the big 12 year one. It's kind of crazy because there's all kinds of these arguments going on with BYU ORG fans. Well, it's BYU ORG at basketball school now.

Speaker 141501.54s - 1506.94s

I'm like, okay, one season does not make you a quote-unquote basketball school.

Speaker 101506.94s - 1511.76s

Right, right. But the bigger point to be made here is the pressure is on Utah GPE.

Speaker 141511.98s - 1526.86s

There's no doubt about it. They're going into this conference, and they're going to have a bullseye on their back. And I can't want to get your perspective on this. How do you feel the Kyle, Cam PERSON, like the whole group of the youths, are they embracing that? Do they understand what they're going to be facing here?

Speaker 101527.56s - 1543.8s

You know, I think they absolutely understand what the expectation is, but I think more importantly, the expectation in the building is its business as usual. Sure. And that was something that I talked about with the Big 12 ORG insiders is, you know, they were curious about what they thought about moving into a different conference.

Speaker 91543.8s - 1551.26s

And it's, with all due respect, it's not like a personal thing at all, but I don't think they

Speaker 101551.26s - 1591s

really care, to be honest. And it's not like we don't care in as in we don't respect our opponents. It's just whether they're lining up against USC or Oklahoma State ORG, the, the end game is still the same, right? We want to win that game and we want to represent our conference in the conference championship game. And we maybe want to move on to even bigger and better things after that. So the faces are different, but the goal is still the same. And I think the attitude is still the same. So that's kind of what I expect. That's what I feel. That's the vibe I catch from Whittingham PERSON and those guys.

Speaker 01591s - 1604.28s

And not that there isn't some curiosity and intrigue as to, you know, these are different places we've never been here before. But by and large, I just think the attitude is goals the same, the faces are different.

Speaker 101604.6s - 1614.2s

And bottom line is there's this expectation of us on the outside. There's also this expectation of us on the inside, and we got to get to work.

Speaker 141614.84s - 1625.3s

Well, and that's the part about it. It's obviously going to be all played out on the field this fall. I know that it feels so far away, but we're under 100 days. I think we're 98 days away from week zero.

Speaker 11625.44s - 1628.68s

Now I know that both of you in Utah aren't playing week zero, but they're week one,

Speaker 01628.76s - 1643.82s

so they're 105 days away from getting things going. It's coming quick. And it feels like a Big 12 media days down there in Las Vegas is going to be here before we know it. And like I said, I'm fully expecting Utah GPE. If they're not picked to be the favorite in the Big 12, they're going to be number two.

Speaker 11644.02s - 1665.14s

It just feels that way. But I can appreciate the fact that Utah GPE is just kind of, in their mindset, it's more of the same because remember, this is a Utah GPE program that they made four straight Pack 12 title appearances. So yeah, you're right. New faces, new teams you're going up against. But I guess the internal standard, it doesn't change all that much, nor should it.

Speaker 101665.86s - 1673.72s

No, no. I think if it does change, I think if that is an overarching thing that they're focused on, then they're focused on the wrong thing.

Speaker 141673.94s - 1688.6s

It seems that would be pretty natural because that would distract you from the overall goal of that. Now, when it comes to you talking about Utah, potentially adding a piece or two via the portal, what would you expect it to be? Where would you think they're looking mainly?

Speaker 101690.36s - 1693.94s

To be honest, I think they could end up bringing in a running back.

Speaker 141694.48s - 1697.7s

I think maybe an offensive lineman.

Speaker 101698.04s - 1705.3s

That's what BYU ORG is looking at around on the defensive side, maybe another cornerback or possibly a linebacker.

Speaker 91705.94s - 1731.06s

And again, it's not that they're screwed if they don't. But those seem to be the areas where they maybe could stand to have another person or two enter the conversation. I've also been under the impression that they, excuse me, that they maybe possibly could be bringing in another wide receiver because they are just so dead serious about getting that part of their game up and going in a way

Speaker 01731.06s - 1732.18s

that we haven't seen in a while.

Speaker 141732.18s - 1741.08s

It's never been going in Kyle Woodham's PERSON tenure. I know. Well, that's not true. That's not true. Everybody forgets that 2008 wide receiver squad was actually pretty lit. Okay.Okay.

Speaker 101741.08s - 1746.82s

Okay, good point. The 08, but let's be honest, Kyle PERSON's had a lot of success without that really big.

Speaker 141746.98s - 1755.6s

But here's the thing is I think they view that as the reason why they haven't necessarily checked some of the boxes off of their goal list.

Speaker 61755.9s - 1760.08s

Okay. I think that's been, they've just lacked some explosive plays at times.

Speaker 41760.16s - 1760.66s

Okay, got it.

Speaker 61760.66s - 1768.92s

And so I think getting a wide receiver core that they can get more involved and feel like they trust and can really let it rip is a big deal to them.

Speaker 41768.92s - 1782.3s

And I think they feel like that's perhaps the missing piece that could elevate them from, oh, you know, it's really great that you made it here to, you know, we're taking this over and it's ours.

Speaker 61782.88s - 1790.44s

Now, looking at it, it's going to be an interesting season because the first game out of the shoot for Utah GPE,

Speaker 101790.44s - 1794.46s

Big 12-wise, against Oklahoma State, that one might be the biggest one of the season.

Speaker 141794.6s - 1797.46s

I know that traditionally you want to have one of those bigger games later on in the year,

Speaker 61797.56s - 1800.64s

but it's just the way the schedule shakes out here.

Speaker 141801.12s - 1829.26s

And I think there's going to be a lot of interested parties that aren't necessarily maybe fans of the Cowboys or the Utes NORP who are going to watch that game because they want to get a feel really early on. Okay, how serious is Utah GPE? Are they able to, and how good is Oklahoma say? Yeah, they're going against the Pac-12 legit champion. It's going to be interesting to see that one in particular because that's a very early test that is, I think, going to say a lot about how that season potentially could go for both programs, quite literally.

Speaker 101829.88s - 1837.9s

Absolutely. I mean, Oklahoma State's definitely one of the teams that we consistently talk about is being in that upper echelon of the Big 12 ORG.

Speaker 01838.44s - 1849.04s

So there's some thought that, you know, them, Utah, perhaps Arizona. I know Kansas ORG State has, you know, been talked about very highly, possibly even Kansas,

Speaker 141849.28s - 1850.38s

depending on what they do.

Speaker 01850.38s - 1856.58s

Those are kind of where the eyeballs are falling as far as, you know, who's going to

Speaker 101856.58s - 1879.3s

take the top spots in this league, at least very early on. And so, yeah, you get that pairing between Utah and Oklahoma State ORG right out of the gate. And I get, like, yeah, a lot of times you want those games later in the season. But the benefit is, if it's a good game and both sides play hard, it probably doesn't hurt them. And especially if they

Speaker 01879.3s - 1902s

continue on and keep playing well towards the end of the season, even if they're not playing in bigger games like that, I think there is some benefit there to really both of them. You protect, you know, two of your entities that potentially could do some big things for you in that regard. And then, I mean, the other interesting part, though, with that is Utah GPE comes home in

Speaker 101902s - 1963.76s

Hoves, Arizona GPE. Yes. So, I mean, they kind of get, I think, probably their toughest games done early. There's some questions about UCF ORG. You know, they've made a great haul in the transfer portal. There's no doubt about that. But I have to say, having watched teams that do that, USC, Colorado ORG, it hasn't necessarily worked out for them the way that I think they thought it would. So does UCF ORG scare me? No. You have to prove that all of that's coming together and will be a force. And there's going to be plenty of time for them to prove that before they meet with Utah GPE. So I don't know that I'm marking that one as a tough one right out the gate. It could be. But I just need to see that all those transfersinto that program actually work together as a team. And I personally think there's more examples of that not working than of it working. So. Well, you're right. The transfer portal is proven that

Speaker 141963.76s - 1994.4s

sometimes it all comes together and it's great. Other times it just doesn't ever really come together. And I can point directly to BYU last year. They brought in a ton of transfer. The total overhaul of that roster last year, Michelle PERSON, not just transfer portal. I'm talking return missionaries, high school guys entering junior college and transfer portal.I think, if I'm not mistaken, it's 50 or 51% of BYU's roster was turned over last year. And I'm not saying that BYU is unique in that regard because, yeah, you can point directly to Colorado ORG. Like, yeah, Colorado did 90%.

Speaker 101994.4s - 1995.8s

Yeah. Great. Okay, good job.

Speaker 141995.8s - 2034.54s

But the bigger point to we made is I think BYU, I think anybody who watched the Cougars last year, and trust me, you and I watched him pretty darn close, was it never really gelled particularly on offense. That rushing attack was so inept for so long of the season that it was just like, what was going on here? The offensive line had issues, running backshad injuries, and the transfers in those units didn't necessarily pan out the way he expected. The quarterback situation, Keaton Slovis PERSON got injured. I don't want anybody to say that he could have come back. He couldn't have. They were not going to risk his NFL ORG future for a guy who is, from what Iunderstand, 60% of what he was before he got injured. So you have to make do with what you're

Speaker 02034.54s - 2041s

given, obviously. But I think BYU learned some, I think, good and hard lessons last year.

Speaker 142041s - 2050.56s

They're going to benefit them this year because we're talking about two programs. And I don't mean to get BYU fans upset, nor should they be upset. The goal for BYU this year is get

Speaker 02050.56s - 2073.52s

to the postseason, get the bull eligibility. Whereas for Utah GPE, yeah, you are the marked team coming in here. You are the team that everything, but all right, there's a big bad youths. Let's take them down. There's two different levels these two programs are competing on but I don't want BYU ORG fans to think that Utah GPE is going to stay at that level and you're going to be stuck at your level forever. Right. That changes and I thinkBYU ORG for

Speaker 142073.52s - 2080.08s

everything you want to see what the success of the Cougars NORP is going to be potentially down the road, look at what Kyle Winningham and the youths did. It came

Speaker 02080.08s - 2100.22s

out of the gate. They actually had a pretty incredible first year in the Pac-12, then back-slid pretty hard to those back-to-back five and seven seasons. Then it was a monumental task to build from that, and then they ultimately realized their championship aspirations in the Pac-12. The linear paths, these two programs are on, BYU is about a decade behind right now of where

Speaker 42100.22s - 2106.04s

Utah was at. But if you want to see what BYU ORG, I think, can become, look at your arch rival. Yeah.

Speaker 142106.48s - 2111s

And I know that, trust me, if the people are listening, they're going to hop on Twitter ORG,

Speaker 102111.28s - 2112.6s

they're going to be so mad at you.

Speaker 142113.02s - 2114.52s

That's what it's got to be.

Speaker 102114.72s - 2131.18s

It is. Because Kyle Winnihan PERSON proved that you can do this. You can make a successful leap from what was the G5 to the Power 5 ORG. And yes, you can be on top of that conference eventually. It just takes time. Well, and not just be on top of that conference eventually. It just takes time. Well, and not just be on top, but stay on top. Which is also something that you taught did.

Speaker 62131.94s - 2137.66s

You know, it wasn't a flash in the pan. Oh, gee, that's so cute. You guys, you guys won at once.

Speaker 142137.66s - 2142.9s

It was, you know, they constantly were getting back and now moving into a different conference.

Speaker 62143.46s - 2145.62s

The conversation kind of remains the same around

Speaker 32145.62s - 2152.64s

them that they're expected to be a top dog. And again, it's any of those teams that came in,

Speaker 62152.64s - 2165.62s

you know, from the G5 rank or the independence ranks for the Big 12 ORG, they have the opportunity there. It's been shown, and even TCU ORG has kind of shown the path to getting yourself

Speaker 142165.62s - 2170.38s

established in that role, in a bigger role, in a bigger conference. To a national championship.

Speaker 102170.46s - 2175.36s

Exactly. So it's, it absolutely can be done. It just is going to take some time.

Speaker 142175.72s - 2183.68s

It will. And here's the thing, Utah this year, I think the goal for Utah, yeah, win the Big 12 ORG, but more importantly, Utah, there's one other thing on the Kyle Winningham bucket list still.

Speaker 102184.16s - 2185s

Playoffs. Yeah.

Speaker 142185.78s - 2218.84s

Playoffs. Now it's an expanded field, so that makes it infinitely easier to make it in the playoffs now with a 12-team playoff. But that is kind of the last, I guess, checkmark on the Kyle Wittingham PERSON career checklist. And we all know that he's not necessarily super long for the job. It's not anybody's surprised. But at the same time, he's got a good thing going right now.Totally. Totally. It's kind of an interesting dynamic you look at this because BYU, they're currently in on a guy named Isaiah Jada. He came out of Snow College last year, went to Colorado ORG, went through that whole experience with the coach prime situation, and decided, you know what,

Speaker 02218.98s - 2224.08s

I'm better suited to go elsewhere. And he visited BYU this week. He's going to visit USC ORG's the

Speaker 62224.08s - 2236s

Southern California native originally, and he's going to visit the Trojans ORG. But you're right. They're the biggest to bring its whole circle on this conversation is that both of these programs, they're looking for pieces right now still in the portal.

Speaker 02236s - 2240s

But they're not necessarily expected to be the pieces that are like going to make or break the season.

Speaker 62240s - 2241s

Nor should they.

Speaker 102241s - 2250.34s

Because if that is what you're banking on right now, yeah, you're probably going to be the long shot of long shots. You're kind of in trouble if that's where you're at the moment.

Speaker 142250.64s - 2267.58s

So it's just, it's kind of a funny thing. These two programs, as I know that these fan bases, they love to get at each other, but they're more connected than they ever have been before, not just because they're in the same conference again. It's just that I think both of them, they have built and found success in similar paths.

Speaker 62267.98s - 2272.12s

But the thing is Utah is just a little further along that path, the BYU ORG is currently.

Speaker 142272.28s - 2284.62s

And for good reason. All right. We will take a time out here. We'll come back on the other side. We're going to get into technical fouls. Talk about some of the more frivolous or stupid things in sports. And trust me, there are some stupid things out there. And we'll talk about that next.

Speaker 72284.62s - 2305.14s

If you're coming from the street with dirty shoes on your feet, that's a technical file. If you switch the radio to some modern music show, that's a technical foul. If you touch the thermostat, you'll get hit for the bus, because that's a technical foul. You will feel my right. That's a technical foul. You will feel my rights. It's a technical foul. Personal file, 69, office. He was giving them the business. A technical foul.

Speaker 142395.2s - 2403.58s

Welcome back to the Saturday show here on 975, the KSL Sports Zone ORG. We are out here. Michelle PERSON, the smells just get better and better than long going along.

Speaker 42404.02s - 2409.5s

We got wings going on multiple grills. They got steaks going on here. I'm doing cobblower competition.

Speaker 102409.82s - 2412.8s

Yeah, geez, they are going on out today. Everything. All the good stuff.

Speaker 142412.92s - 2415.2s

Yeah, and the best part is, like, some of these setups, Michelle PERSON.

Speaker 102415.7s - 2416.86s

I know, they're pretty incredible.

Speaker 142417.06s - 2426.72s

Yeah. This is what I aspire to do one day, but I don't have the time nor the money to do some of what these guys are doing, but it's awesome to see what, because.

Speaker 102427s - 2430.44s

Yeah, competition, barbecuing is crazy.

Speaker 142430.64s - 2433.82s

I grew up with the Snyder Brother ORG kids.

Speaker 62433.92s - 2434.2s

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 102434.2s - 2442.04s

So I, like, I am so familiar with all of this because they are big into doing that kind of stuff.

Speaker 142442.16s - 2449.78s

That's awesome. It's crazy. All right. So technical fouls, Michelle, do you have anything outside of the Scotty Schaeffler PERSON situation you want to get to?

Speaker 102450.68s - 2451.18s

Yes.

Speaker 142451.3s - 2455.42s

I am giving my technical foul to Harrison Butker PERSON. Okay.

Speaker 102455.62s - 2467.08s

He's made some headlines this week. He certainly has. And here's the thing. I don't have an issue with his perspective on life. Like, that's fine and everybody's

Speaker 62467.08s - 2473.44s

entitled to do what they want to do. However, time in place, time in place. That's my thing.

Speaker 102474.12s - 2488s

College graduation with a bunch of women that have worked really, really hard to get a college degree and lecturing them about the benefits of staying home and being a stay-at-home wifey so men can go and do what they want to do

Speaker 02488s - 2491.4s

was probably not a wise choice.

Speaker 62492.32s - 2505.62s

You know, it's a lot of work to get that degree, and I don't think you go to college just for funsies without any intent of doing something with the degree, even if it's a part-time thing.

Speaker 102505.66s - 2526.46s

Sure. So I just, I thought that, again, I don't have an issue with his viewpoint. Like, if that works for him in his situation, absolutely, by all means, go for it. That's great. But if you're giving a college commencement speech, that's just not the time in place to bring that up.

Speaker 132526.6s - 2531.26s

To add on top of that, Michelle PERSON, he brought up his own wife, right, and how it worked with him.

Speaker 102531.74s - 2539s

Obviously, it's a lot easier to make that work when you're one of the best kickers in the NFL ORG, like one of the highest kickers in the national football league.

Speaker 142539.34s - 2540.92s

You're multi-millionaires, what you're saying, yes.

Speaker 132540.92s - 2547.74s

Right, so of course his wife doesn't have to do a whole lot besides, you know, raise their family. So I thought that was pretty silly.

Speaker 102548.5s - 2558.24s

Yeah. It was, it was a bad look. It just, yeah, just it wasn't the time or the place to go on that rant. Yeah.

Speaker 142558.62s - 2571s

It was, it made, trust me, it continues on, by the way, the backlash. And as it should, like, here's the thing. Not your way works for everybody, and everybody has to kind of find their own path in the world.

Speaker 02571.1s - 2573.92s

So let's just be a little more understanding across the board.

Speaker 142574.24s - 2586.9s

I got one real quick one here. We'll get to the Sky Shelter in a moment. Did you know that O.J. Simpson had Marv Albert PERSON turn, essentially feed him bad intel when they were doing NFL ORG games way back in the day. What?

Speaker 62587.06s - 2590.14s

So Marva Albert was on the Dan Patrick show this week.

Speaker 142590.32s - 2615.9s

I worked at O.J. Simpson during his two-sincinn's NFL ORG broadcasting. But Albert PERSON said he found ways to mess with him. He said that Simpson was a colleague during his days covering the NFL ORG. But Paul McGuire PERSON was an analyst and everything. And they would have these meetings pregame with the coaches and whatnot. And essentially, they caught on that OJ was essentially just stealing what McGuire was talking to these coaches about and passing off as his own information.

Speaker 102616.14s - 2616.9s

Oh, my gosh.

Speaker 142617.1s - 2645.04s

So then they found this. So, OJ, one time I was doing sideline first for NFL ORG games. I remember I was working with Paul McGuire PERSON at the time we were rehearsed. And all of Paul's comments in the rehearsal were used by OJ when he would go on for the pregame show. We had met with the coaches, met with the players, and Paul PERSON would always have great stuff. And then we would have to do it. And then what we had to do after a couple of games went by thefashion, we were actually throwing the rehearsal to give him bad intel and catch him and prove that he was stealing information. So, you know, OJ.

Speaker 102645.04s - 2648.08s

Just further proof that OJ was not a good guy.

Speaker 142648.08s - 2678.9s

Bit of a slime ball. No doubt about that. All right. All right. So let's get to the big story of the day, though. Yesterday, I literally, I walked into studio yesterday to get ready for DJ and PK.And news was starting to filter out. The first report from Jeff Darlington in his video of Scotty Shepard being arrested by Louisville Metropolitan Police ORG. Now, let's acknowledge the horrific auto pedestrian fatality that happened that caused the backup here. There were multiple golfers, by the way, that were caught up in this traffic trying to get to Valhalla Golf Club ORG,

Speaker 62679.08s - 2681.58s

that literally just got out of the car and walked to the club.

Speaker 142682.4s - 2707.48s

Scotty PERSON was close enough, apparently, and he had been told, based on with the reports, that he was supposed to navigate his way around this police barricade and get himself into the entrance to the club so he could get ready for his round. But then, apparently, police officertoo thought that he was not supposed to do what he was doing, and as Christian PERSON will play right now, this ensued. Guys. Guys. Guys. Uh-uh. Step back. Back up, are you going to tell, guys, guys, dude, uh-uh, step back.

Speaker 52707.56s - 2708.52s

Back up, are you to try?

Speaker 142708.52s - 2709.08s

I'm back.

Speaker 72709.68s - 2713.12s

I'm back. Guys, what do we tell you?

Speaker 52713.4s - 2714.32s

I'm saying back.

Speaker 72714.7s - 2718.84s

Here's the time. Right now, right now he's going to jail. Okay.

Speaker 52719.36s - 2723.68s

He's going to jail. And it ain't nothing you can do about it, period.

Speaker 72724.18s - 2726.24s

There's nothing you can do about it. period. There's nothing you can do about it.

Speaker 02726.38s - 2727.08s

Okay.

Speaker 72727.64s - 2729.32s

Now, do you have questions?

Speaker 02729.56s - 2730.88s

I'm a media.

Speaker 142731.08s - 2782.66s

Okay, okay. That's all I'm just. I just want to make sure that's no. Okay, but you need to step back over here now. No problem. You got it.Okay. Okay. All right, so there you go. That's Jeff Darlington, ESPN reporter, who was literally right on the scene there following Scott PERSON. And so you hear that, nothing you can do about it. He's going to jail.Oh, my gosh. Okay. First off, he's in a very clearly marked car, that it's a courtesy car from the tournament that designates that this guy can be where he's going, allegedly. Mean Wu Lee, who's one of the golfers playing in the PGA championships, said that he did the exact same thing Scottie PERSON did in terms ofnavigating around that police barricade to get into Valhalla FAC to get ready for his round. And Scottie PERSON was just doing it, and you haul him off, put him up for a mugshot in an orange jumpsuit. And allegedly, according to Jeff Darlington PERSON, after you arrest this guy, you turn to Jeff PERSON, who's a reporter and say, hey, by the way, who did we

Speaker 102782.66s - 2785.12s

just arrest? Oh, my gosh. Yeah.

Speaker 142785.28s - 2807.62s

I know that Scotty PERSON's not necessarily the most identifiable person. He's not Tiger Woods PERSON. He doesn't have that world renown right now. Right. But he's the best player in the world right now. And for you to haul him out of his car, put him in cuffs, and haul him off to the precinct, which, by the way, one of the Valhalla Golf Club ORG co-owners had to go pick him up and drive him back.Come on now.

Speaker 102807.98s - 2809.46s

What a mess.

Speaker 142809.7s - 2815.14s

What a mess. And, hey, have you seen the other guys, the movie The Other Guys?

Speaker 102815.3s - 2815.66s

Uh-uh.

Speaker 142816.02s - 2817.58s

You know what I'm talking.

Speaker 102817.88s - 2818.86s

Tyler, I'll check out here.

Speaker 142819.16s - 2819.94s

The Yankee Clipper.

Speaker 102820.72s - 2859.64s

So, in the movie, who's the actor? I forget his name all of a sudden Christian you can help me if you remember this It's Will Ferrell PERSON and Mark Wahlberg And WalbergThere's a famous scene in the movie where He shoots Derek Jeter Because I'm on tunnel duty I'm in Yankee Stadium And this guy in the hood He was walking down theI told him to stop, you got to stop man You got to stop and then he shoots him in the leg It's Derek Jeter PERSON Dude you shot guy in the hood who was walking down the I told him to stop you gotta stop man you gotta stop and then he shoots him in the leg it's Derek Jeter dude you shot me in the leg and he's like now I'm stuck on desk duty for the rest of my career and everybody calls me the Yankee Clipperand all of his compatriots in the circle dude you screws out of a championship that year so this

Speaker 62859.64s - 2864.26s

Louisville Metropolitan Police Depart police officer may find himself on desk duty

Speaker 102864.26s - 2866.82s

all of the other guys.

Speaker 142867.24s - 2870.58s

Oh, what a fail. What a fail. Yeah.

Speaker 102870.94s - 2881.84s

The Scotty Sheffler clipper now is what this guy will be known as going forward. But any othertechnical files? Christian PERSON, you got anything else for us? No, that covers it.

Speaker 132881.88s - 2883.28s

I think that Scotty Schaeffler

Speaker 142883.28s - 2888.78s

was so funny. Oh, my gosh. Yeah gosh yeah it's just it's one of those

Speaker 132888.78s - 2893.04s

things you're like this like is this real life because i was legitimately i'm sitting there's

Speaker 32893.04s - 2895.94s

getting ready for the show i'm like this is seriously happening and there's that video hitting

Speaker 132895.94s - 2901.16s

hauled off by the coffee you know about it going to jail right now it's like well i think

Speaker 32901.16s - 2906.4s

the crazy part about that story was it was like very confusing to follow it first.

Speaker 142906.4s - 2908.34s

And then it was like, oh, yeah.

Speaker 102908.6s - 2908.88s

Okay.

Speaker 142909.12s - 2909.48s

Okay.

Speaker 102911.32s - 2912.02s

Here's the deal.

Speaker 142912.12s - 2915.38s

I don't typically like people who say, don't you know who I am.

Speaker 102915.98s - 2918.88s

But in that circumstance, I think Scotty PERSON would have been justified in saying,

Speaker 142919.4s - 2926.92s

Would you know who I am? By the way, Scotty, Sheffert, for him to go out and did what he did yesterday on the course.

Speaker 102927.88s - 2928.04s

Crazy.

Speaker 142928.48s - 2929.18s

Cros PERSON to you, sir.

Speaker 102929.26s - 2931.2s

You've got like nerves of steel.

Speaker 132931.58s - 2934.36s

I will add on Real Golf, they were talking about it this morning.

Speaker 142934.82s - 2953.18s

Scotty PERSON said that he was in the jail cell, like stretching and stuff. Oh, yeah. I did my stretches. He said, I was watching the reports of what I was doing on TV as I'm sitting in the slammer. I'm stretching and getting ready for my round while I'm sitting in the precinct and being read by Miranda Wrights PERSON and whatever else goes on.

Speaker 102953.44s - 2954.18s

Oh, my gosh.

Speaker 142954.18s - 2958.78s

We got a celebrity setting walking by, Scott Gerard PERSON competing, you know, doing his thing.

Speaker 102959s - 2959.7s

That is crazy.

Speaker 142960.48s - 2960.88s

Scotty PERSON?

Speaker 102961.32s - 2962.18s

Yeah, we are on there.

Speaker 142962.3s - 2964.18s

You guys are ready for some cobbler?

Speaker 102964.42s - 2964.66s

Sure.

Speaker 62965.14s - 2965.48s

Yeah. We're always ready for some cobbler? Sure. Yeah.

Speaker 142965.66s - 2966.78s

We're always ready for some cobbler.

Speaker 102968.88s - 2970.4s

Oh, geez, that was incredible.

Speaker 142970.72s - 2970.9s

Yeah.

Speaker 102971.18s - 2971.46s

Ooh.

Speaker 62971.76s - 2972.96s

Folks, Scott Gerard PERSON.

Speaker 142973.68s - 2974.36s

Sounds good.

Speaker 102974.44s - 2974.96s

Sounds great, Scott PERSON.

Speaker 142974.96s - 2975.98s

He's competing in this.

Speaker 102976.1s - 2979.98s

This is an incredible thing, and I'm sure he's going to win it. No pressure anything, Scottie PERSON.

Speaker 142981.02s - 2995.16s

But anyways, we'll come back on their side. We're actually going to talk with Bob Casper PERSON, and we'll get more of his insight on this Sheffler PERSON situation. He was legitimately warming up in the jail cell as he's waiting to get released. By the way, he gets second-degree felony assault of a police officer on his rap sheet.

Speaker 102995.84s - 2997.8s

For damaging the $80 pan.

Speaker 142998.24s - 2999.22s

So good times.

Speaker 102999.48s - 2999.74s

Anyways.

Speaker 143000.36s - 3009s
