On the show today, we bid farewell to one Tobias Harris as our own Mike O'Connor PERSON, finally puts out the article that he's been dying to write for nearly three years. We talk about some more free agents and some, seems like some, what's their own, some pessimism about Paul George, both from the Sixers ORG fans and some people in the media, perhaps former players. And we talk about potential other off-season targets. Excuse me. Connecticut GPE skateboarding, which I mentioned. Boy, we love it. I saw a pair. What are those, CJ PERSON?You see those orange Nike's that were on the social today that was pretty sweet? What I would recommend you doing with kinetic skateboarding is follow them on Instagram at kinetic skateboarding on Twitter at kinetic skate. They have these shoe drops that happen like boom, you got to be following them because these are sneakers that you cannot get anywhere else. They're not even like the ones like the Jordans PRODUCT, the ones that you see in the sneaker apps or whatever, completely different ones.Nike, vans, Converse ORG, all that, new balance, all that kind of stuff. Follow them on social and go to kinetic skateboarding.com. And as you're preparing for the summer, need some new shorts, some t-shirts, gear up as the kids say. Kids say that? No, absolutely not. At kinetic skateboarding. And use code Dave Silver for 9.1% off your first order and a special mention if you didn't listen to the pod earlier this week you may remember a ricky listener named mike detory who was diagnosed with brain cancer in may of 2021 and lost that fight with brain cancer inseptember of 2022 he was 30 years old. He had two little kids, Dominic and Dante, and his wife, Rebecca PERSON. We did a couple go-fund-mys for them, very, very sweet people. His wife, Rebecca, is a writer and has written a book called I'd Still Choose You, WORK_OF_ART which is about Mike and her relationship with Mike, and then the battle with cancer and her dealing with the grief afterwards. It's very touching, and it came out on Tuesday. There are two versions. The Kindle version is just 99 cents, and then there's the paperback right here, available on Amazon ORG, and we will put it in the show notes. It is currently, thanks to Ricky PERSON listeners, ranked number two in Amazon ORG Motherhood books, number one in parenting, number two in journalwriting, which is awesome. Would love to see the support for the book. And I recommend the book. It's very good as a support for one of our own. And she also started a charity in his name called the Mike Detory Small Moments Foundation ORG, which helps out kids in the area who have lost a parent to cancer. So part of the book sales go to that charity. There's an event on Thursday night for the book as well at Forest and Maine, the brewery in Ambler GPE, from five to nine. So would love to watch the book shoot up the charts to show the power of the Ricky and the power of our community. And again, book made me cry a couple times really good. And if you get a chance to listen to the pod, we did an interview with Rebecca about 35 minutes earlier this week. It is in your pod feed.Without any further ado, Amos PERSON and the chef. Larry Sweetie PERSON, the man is here.

Speaker 5249.76s - 265.68s

we were right we were right so say the name say the name say the name say the name say the name The rights. I'm sorry to me.

Speaker 6279.56s - 279.72s

Welcome to the Rik's Ricky Sanchez PERSON podcast.

Speaker 5287.14s - 294.18s

I'm Spike Askin along with a guy who is in an undisclosed dark room, not film just a different kind of dark room that is michaelvin PERSON here we are i guess we just i guess i just do midweek

Speaker 6294.18s - 298.94s

podcasts from the screening room at work now i think this is just what this is it this is what is

Speaker 5298.94s - 306.08s

going to happen yeah and that's that means the likelihood of my boss coming in at a certain point.

Speaker 6306.26s - 306.72s

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 5307.14s - 312.56s

To his screening room and asking me what I'm doing is very high.

Speaker 6313.82s - 322.22s

So when I was a student at Syracuse ORG, our radio station was down the hall from an auditorium where they had classes.

Speaker 3322.68s - 326s

And there was one class that I went to for the

Speaker 2326s - 331.06s

first three times. And I wasn't a class cutter, but I was doing the morning show on the radio

Speaker 3331.06s - 350.38s

station. So I just stopped going to the class, but it was right down the hall. And one time, we had turned the volume all the way up on 112 and Allors PERSON all cried out. And we were singing at the top of our lungs. And the teacher from the class came over and asked us to turn it down as I was cutting his class.

Speaker 7351.02s - 352.98s

And that reminds me of this.

Speaker 3353.18s - 355.84s

Even though it's not the same thing, it sort of reminds me of it.

Speaker 2356.2s - 360.62s

Yeah, I guess if I was doing this podcast while the writer's room was happening.

Speaker 3361.24s - 363.04s

That would be a little bit more problematic.

Speaker 2363.04s - 368.26s

We came close during the playoffs a couple times, but that's over now.

Speaker 3368.86s - 370.68s

So we do this.

Speaker 2371.08s - 376.04s

As Logan PERSON asks in the chat, if your boss does come in, could you get him to say the name?

Speaker 3379.24s - 380s

We'll see.

Speaker 2382.14s - 385.72s

This comes from Luke to write Stricky Sanchez PERSON at gmail.com

Speaker 3385.72s - 396.12s

before it plays out at this point would you rather see the Knicks lose to the Pacers ORG and bow out of the playoffs or see the Knicks go to the NBA ORG finals Would it feel better as a Sixers ORG fan to lose to the team that represents the East LOC?

Speaker 2396.6s - 406.5s

I don't particularly care about that I know that the Knicks ORG for a solid team Brunson I haven't looked in a few minutes but was out for much of the first half.

Speaker 3407.1s - 409.6s

So he was out at the end of the first quarter.

Speaker 2409.72s - 422.88s

He came out for the third quarter. But he did not look right. Like he was hobbling around and he wasn't even dribbling in that first position. Then I came over here. They're probably not going to win this game or the series unless Brunson PERSON is playing and right.

Speaker 3423.4s - 424.36s

That would be tough.

Speaker 2424.7s - 426.82s

There's something tells me there's something about this Knicks ORG team

Speaker 3426.82s - 428.86s

where every game would be a one possession game

Speaker 2428.86s - 431.32s

with one minute left, even without Brunson PERSON. Yeah.

Speaker 3432.54s - 437.6s

But I would say, I really, I do still like those Nova ORG guys

Speaker 2437.6s - 440.06s

and there's nobody on the Knicks ORG I really hate hate.

Speaker 3441.5s - 444.58s

Isaiah Hartnstein PERSON did lose me a playoff series

Speaker 2444.58s - 446.04s

in Xex, a championship by one free throw. Oh, no. Which hurts. I Isaiah Hartinstein PERSON did lose me a playoff series in execs a championship

Speaker 4446.04s - 447.18s

by one free throw

Speaker 2447.18s - 449.14s

which

Speaker 4449.14s - 449.8s

which hurts

Speaker 2449.8s - 450.98s

that he would do

Speaker 4450.98s - 451.68s

this to me

Speaker 2451.68s - 461.72s

and in real life and in fantasy but I do really like his game I just I like the PacersI like Tyreys Halliburton I like T.J.

Speaker 4462.28s - 463s

Yeah of course

Speaker 2463s - 476.04s

I find I've always you know enjoyed how bizarre of a game Pascal Seacum PERSON has. There, I like, you know, I'm, I'm rooting for the Pacers ORG, but not because I dislike the Nix.

Speaker 3477.04s - 513.46s

Yeah, I go back and forth. There's something, the NICs are, this version of NICS ORG, pretty easy team to root for, you know, play hard, you know, players played for Villanova ORG, yada, yada, yada. Their fans, I can't take them. So I want to see the fans sad, but the team, I don't mind very much. The Pacers ORG seem a little fraudulent to me.The Western Conference seems far more interesting to this point than the Eastern Conference ORG does. You think the any any thoughts like if you had a I don't know what you pick before the the playoffs, but if you had to pick now, who would you pick to win the title?

Speaker 2515.6s - 566.6s

Man, it's cool to see Minnesota ORG do what they're doing. It's wild. It's it is so you think about this with players a lot and teams. It's both like when, I remember, like, 2017 or 18, I was like, I think Kauai PERSON is the best player in the league. And that was not a popular opinion because he hadn't done it on like a massive stage yet as like the number one guy. And then obviously what happened with Toronto ORG happened. And then he became that. And I think other people felt that about Yokic PERSON before he was doing it on that level. And I think you think about that with team sometimes. And the wolves had such a stench of loser energy. Yep. With between Gobert PERSON and the stuff that he's been, you know, surrounding him his whole career and towns,

Speaker 0566.82s - 568.56s

just his, you know, vibe generally.

Speaker 2569.68s - 589.38s

And then the franchise, being like a franchise that has not done anything, has barely won a round in their history. And then all of a sudden they get the right guy there and they're playing hard and they play long and they play physical and they, they de up and they're well coached and Mike Conley PERSON makes every team he plays for better

Speaker 3589.38s - 592.12s

and by the way the NBA ORG changed the rules in the middle

Speaker 2592.12s - 594.34s

of the season in a way that probably

Speaker 3594.34s - 595.94s

benefits them in this series

Speaker 2595.94s - 599.08s

you know but to go up

Speaker 3599.08s - 601.72s

2-0 on Denver GPE on the road

Speaker 2601.72s - 614.04s

is awesome it's cool to see it and so maybe we'll look back in five years and go obviously that was the start of Minnesota ORG being the best team in the league. But it's hard to know.

Speaker 0614.22s - 615.9s

It's hard to know while it's happening. It's hard to

Speaker 7615.9s - 617.64s

it happens quick

Speaker 0617.64s - 620.08s

when all of a sudden you're like, holy shit.

Speaker 2620.28s - 628.52s

They're allowed to go up to nothing on the rain champions and the three-time MVP. It's cool. It's fun. It's fun to see.

Speaker 3628.96s - 636.5s

And the nuggets melting down, by the way. The Nuggets ORG melting down. And the Thunder ORG are looking so good. Like, I think the Celtics ORG are going to sleepwalk

Speaker 2636.5s - 639.08s

to an appearance in the championship,

Speaker 0639.2s - 639.86s

it seems like.

Speaker 3641.24s - 643.68s

The East LOC shook out well for them

Speaker 0643.68s - 646.16s

and the East LOC wasn't that good

Speaker 2646.16s - 659.22s

and you know that kind of thing but but it could be any of the four of them out of the West LOC still I think I wouldn't rule out Dallas without how good Luca and Kyrie PERSON have been I would probably rule out Dallas

Speaker 3659.22s - 668.42s

I think whoever wins that whoever wins Wolves Denver assuming that it's wolves, I think, ends up going to the finals, which is crazy. And by the way,

Speaker 2668.96s - 671.48s

Wolves ORG... Thunder ORG are just as good as those teams.

Speaker 3671.82s - 672.68s

I'm excited to see it.

Speaker 2673.76s - 675.24s

I'm not so sure I buy it yet.

Speaker 7676.32s - 677.1s

But I don't know.

Speaker 2677.18s - 677.56s

We'll see.

Speaker 3678.1s - 698.96s

And then the wolves end up going against the Celtics if Porzingis PERSON isn't playing, all of a sudden you have this giant team going against the Celtics ORG who are long and obviously very skilled but I don't know if there's a team that could get Boston ORG out of what they wanted to dooffensively it's probably Minnesota ORG so

Speaker 2698.96s - 701.64s

yeah I just don't my rooting interests are

Speaker 3701.64s - 703.38s

anyone but the Celtics ORG is definitely just

Speaker 2703.38s - 707.02s

prevailing thought across the board, anyone but Boston ORG.

Speaker 3707.62s - 731.22s

That's fair. So I think it's time. We didn't really get to do it last time. And Michael Connor, you know, I put so many lines from this article in our thing. I almost wanted to do an audio version of this article because I feel like anyone who didn't read it needs to hear it. We did get this call about Tobias Harris PERSON to 833 lickface.

Speaker 0732.02s - 810.2s

Guys, one of my favorite Tobias Harris PERSON stats of all time towards the end of his career, of course, towards the final games this career, Tobias Harris scored a total of zero points in the second half of his final three games with the 76ers. Now, I thought that this was really unusual after two games. Watched game six to see the chance of this happening. Sure enough, did happen completing the trifecta three games in a row. Later, tried to find out if this has ever happened before in history of the NBA ORG. It's a weird stat.I'm not really sure how to look something up like that in basketball reference. After conferring with a couple different large language models between chat GPT and Claude PERSON and perplexity, I cannot find a single instance in the history of the NBA that a starting player has gone scoreless in the second half of three consecutive playoff games. I mean, that's like a real TNT ORG.Did you know the bullshit staff that I throw out to you? Which is truly remarkable, man. It's really wild to be living in the post-Bias era. I'm so happy over here. I can't believe that this guy was on this team for six years, man.

Speaker 3811.12s - 819.22s

This from Mike O'Connor, who writes on Rikisancho.com ORG, by the way, this article inspired more subscriptions to our website than any article

Speaker 2819.22s - 822.02s

that's been written since we went to substack. That sounds right.

Speaker 3822.22s - 829.92s

It was great article. To answer the caller, I think I would just, I would look at PJ Tucker and see if, if there's any, uh, some second halfs that he didn't score.

Speaker 2831.12s - 834.12s

Yeah, but three straight would be, but I don't know.

Speaker 3834.2s - 834.56s

We'll see.

Speaker 2836.06s - 840.54s

So you can subscribe to Mike's writing, everybody's writing at writes ORG, drakeysanchez.com.

Speaker 3840.64s - 896.66s

That way you just get an email to you. Many teams hire part-time regional scouts as independent contractors and will contract independent companies to pay for their services. When I worked as a scout, for example, I work for an independent company that sold insights and services to several NBA ORG teams. It's a highly competitive industry and the job requires you to be meticulous. Most scouts keep insane amounts of highly organized notes. If you ask a pro personnel scout for notes on a player's performance in a game they were assigned to five years ago, they could probably provide you with them. Their job is to miss absolutely nothing, to be encyclopedic. You could ask them about a very specific skillof an extremely obscure NBA ORG player, and they should be able to give you a detailed answer. The reason I think about this depth of infrastructure is so often is this. I just can't fucking believe that any team could have the type of infrastructure to do what the Sixers did in 2019 with Tobias Harris PERSON. I don't get it. How is it possible? They give up to

Speaker 2896.66s - 901.98s

Tobias hit those free throws in Game 5. He didn't go score less in the second half. You're right.

Speaker 3902.6s - 906.44s

This guy's call was completely bullshit. I'm sure there were plenty of other examples

Speaker 2906.44s - 907.64s

maybe it wasn't maybe it was

Speaker 3907.64s - 909.96s

several of the games it felt like he had

Speaker 2909.96s - 916.14s

there were games when he had like oh he ate in the first half oh that's pretty good and then he finishes with eight or ten or something but yeah the free throws

Speaker 4916.14s - 918.1s

were big and felt

Speaker 2918.1s - 928.2s

like maybe momentous at the time of like maybe this is when he turns it all around and then zero in his last game. I like the call anyway.

Speaker 3928.6s - 928.76s

Sure.

Speaker 2928.88s - 930.08s

Even though it was a lie.

Speaker 3930.66s - 934.68s

They gave up two first round picks, two second round picks and Landry Shamma PERSON to get him.

Speaker 2935s - 938.16s

And then they gave him the largest contracted franchise history to that point.

Speaker 3938.46s - 939.44s

But it didn't stop there.

Speaker 2939.86s - 944.9s

They also performed a bizarre backroom deal to signed Tobias his brother Terry Harris PERSON to a summer league contract.

Speaker 3944.9s - 961.68s

So weird. And later a training camp deal, followed by an Exhibit' brother Terry Harris PERSON to a summer league contract. So weird. And later a training camp deal, followed by an Exhibit 9 deal to play for their G-League team. That's free. Free money. Terry, who averaged eight points per game playing 20 minutes per night as a fifth yearsenior at North Carolina A&T ORG, had absolutely no business being anywhere near the NBA ORG, respectfully.

Speaker 7962.16s - 963.92s

No. He played 19 games

Speaker 3963.92s - 971.1s

with the Delaware Blue Coats that year, averaging 3.5 points per game on 35.6% shooting from the field.

Speaker 2971.26s - 972.7s

Respectfully doing a lot of work there.

Speaker 3973.62s - 1020.8s

I will never in my life forget what an absolute nightmare it was to root for Tobias Harris during this era. He is by far the most maddening player I have ever watched. The simplest way I can describe that Tobias Harris PERSON conundrum is this. On a good team, he is nowhere near good enough as a scorer to be your second or third best player, nor is he anywhere near good enough at role player responsibilities to be yourfifth best player. Even at his best, he is stuck in this limbo of never having the proper role to fit into. He has somehow underqualified for every role you put him in. There is no situation you could put him in. There is no situation you could put him in that would allow him to impact winning at a high level on a night-to-night basis. The best thing that Tobias Harris ever could be in the NBA ORG is an empty calorie score on amediocre team. The highest purpose in his basketball life is to bring a 34-win team to a 37-win team.

Speaker 21020.8s - 1026.92s

100%. Dead hit. Direct. Bullseye. But everything I just described,

Speaker 31027.14s - 1037.18s

that only applies to good Tobias PERSON. When he's in bad Tobias PERSON mode, which he was for basically the entire second half of the season, he is one of the single most harmful high minute players in the NBA ORG.

Speaker 21037.74s - 1040.02s

Yeah, it is crazy. You're going to keep reading,

Speaker 31040.12s - 1042.5s

but I just keep chiming in here. I can, I can.

Speaker 21042.86s - 1055.7s

No, no, it's still very good. Okay. I really did love this article. It was, and it was baffling that like really almost nothing could, he could do almost nothing to get the Sixers ORG to bench him. No.

Speaker 01055.7s - 1058.84s

Any coach, any of the three coaches he played for when he was here,

Speaker 21059.74s - 1114.26s

no one would do it. And like once in a while he like sat in the last three minutes when some other role player was hot. But like there was never a time when it was like, oh, Tobias PERSON is just going to play 21 minutes for a while because he's not worth more than that. It felt like they kept believing for years and years that he would just find a way to be useful. And too often, he just really, really was not. Really wasn't.And that's why I look at those guys and it's like, you got to either be really good off ball or really, really good on ball and at least or a really, really good defender. And he was just none of them. He was just none of them. And also, Michael O'Connor PERSON calls him athletic in this article, and he's just not. He's big. And he's not the least athletic player in the league. But for his size, he's pretty close. Yeah, he's not athletic.

Speaker 31114.72s - 1118.78s

He's, yeah, he's fine, I guess.

Speaker 21118.78s - 1120.12s

He has no quick twitch athletic.

Speaker 31120.2s - 1120.3s

No.

Speaker 21120.42s - 1123.64s

Maybe, like, from a standstill jump, he could get up a little bit more than others.

Speaker 31123.74s - 1126.98s

And he is definitely big, and he has, has like a big NBA ORG 6-8 body.

Speaker 21127.34s - 1129.66s

But no, definitely not.

Speaker 31130s - 1131.5s

Look at him versus Derek Jones Jr.

Speaker 21131.86s - 1132.18s

There's not.

Speaker 31132.5s - 1133.64s

Not really the same thing.

Speaker 21133.9s - 1135.2s

They don't move in similar ways whatsoever.

Speaker 31135.76s - 1137.32s

And to be that big and not be that physical.

Speaker 21137.48s - 1139.18s

Like it's big, it's pointlessly big.

Speaker 31140.6s - 1161.02s

The rights Ricky Sanchez PERSON podcast is brought you by body bio. Body bio, we love them. First of all, because they're a partner of ours. But second of all, because they're fucking great. They are a family owned and operated supplement company in South Jersey LOC, trusted by over 10,000 doctors and healthcare professionals.

Speaker 71161.64s - 1167.02s

They are fixated on making sure that you are healthy.

Speaker 31167.76s - 1325.86s

Go to bodybio.com, use code Mike's tummy for 20% off everything, everything. You know, one of the advantages of them being a sort of smaller, more nimble company is they can be better at quality control. They test every batch of every product they do. If something does not live up to their standards, they take it off the website until it's right. They've done that over the last year. We've had a couple of questions. Hey, why isn't calm there? It's back up. Why isn't Gutplus PERSON there? It's because the product was not living up to their standards. So they took it off. They care about it. One product that is there, calm. Now, you should be calm now. Sixers ORG' playoffs are over. A calm. Something maybe perhaps before work, maybe before bed.All natural. Soothes the nerves a little bit. E-light, which is your hydration solution, 100% electrolytes. No artificial flavors. No artificial colors. No sugar.Put a little bit in your water in the morning, a little bit in the evening, and it keeps you perfectly hydrated. Hydration, not just about water, about electrolytes as well. And if you can take one gut supplement in the entire world to control bloat, keep your regular, you know, all that kind of stuff, sodium buterate, B-U-T-Y-R-A-T-E. Give it a try. There's a few different putterates on the website, but try sodium buturate if you don't know which one to go. Go tobodybio.com. Excuse me, use code Mike's tummy for 20% off any order. That is code Mike's tummy, bodybio.com. Final part here. One thing is for sure. The Tobias PERSON trade and contract, and there's much more, again, you should go read it. The Tobias PERSON trade and contract should serve as a major lesson for the sixers moving forward. They absolutely cannot be seduced by raw talent and neglect things like fit and winning DNA. Daryl PERSON's obsession with talent over everything is likely the reason that he never madeit a top priority to get off of Harris PERSON's contract. If there's one thing that Harris is, it's talented. I imagine if Mori ever seriously considered trying to salary dump Tobias PERSON, he fell back on the idea that talent wins championships and Tobias PERSON is too talented to give away for nothing. But he was wrong. There are tons of players who are less talented than Tobias Harris PERSON, who would have given the sixers a better chance to win the title over the past six years. And so, as I do my final reflection on the Tobias PERSON era, I have absolutely nothinggood to say. I don't have a single positive memory of his time here that is worth mentioning. I will have no nostalgia for watching him, and I feel no degree of sorrow watching him leave. I would say that I'm thrilled, and in some way I am, but I'm frankly too scarred to celebrate. The torment of rooting for a basketball team that he played for will haunt me for the rest of my life. Goodbye, Toby. Six years, man. It's a long time. Six years. It's a long time. The torment of rooting for a basketball team that he played for will haunt me for the rest of my life. Goodbye, Toby PERSON.

Speaker 21326.66s - 1327.18s

Six years, man.

Speaker 31327.92s - 1327.96s

It's a long time.

Speaker 21328.54s - 1329.14s

Six years.

Speaker 31329.74s - 1332.64s

It's a long time. He just was never that good. There is nothing.

Speaker 21334.72s - 1393.3s

It is one of the worst contractual mistakes any team has ever made in basketball. It is borderline Bobby Bonilla PERSON. Like, what a waste of time it all was. And it wasn't always, always, always bad. There were moments thathe played like fine as the third or fourth best player on the team sometimes. But like on the whole you step back, he stayed the whole timetoo good to trade trade too bad to help like just i can't believe he played the whole fucking contract here man it was an awful experience that you always had to game plan around a liability in every area of the court and and yet the sixers didn't do a good enough job of having more useful players to sub in for him. Like Justin Holliday would have been a more useful player the last six years than Tobias PERSON.

Speaker 41394.3s - 1396.42s

That's like a classic minimum guy.

Speaker 21396.82s - 1401.36s

By the way, as he wrote in the article, Nick Batum PERSON would have been.

Speaker 31401.56s - 1402.04s

100%.

Speaker 21402.04s - 1402.4s

Yeah.

Speaker 31402.52s - 1405.06s

It's just like to be not that smart on the basketball courts,

Speaker 21405.12s - 1415.98s

be not that much, not high motor, not much, not much hustle, not much athleticism, not much defense, although it was always better than, than a little bit, some people thought, on ball.

Speaker 31416.32s - 1416.94s

Nice guy.

Speaker 21417.14s - 1463.8s

Off ball, just not much, not a good shooter, not off the catch, not good at getting fouled, not good around the rim, not getting above the rim, like just so many things that you're just like, can you just, the best hope was just him like dipsy doing into daddy touch time. And like, hopefully it goes in like a contested 16 footer. It was it's it's so much better to look back on and be honest about now. Because so much of being a fan, fan I think is like lying to yourself.Talking yourself into shit. Talking yourself into it saying that like there have been games when Tobias PERSON was helpful so maybe he can get back to just being pretty helpful and now that it's overand God PERSON let it be over if Darrell PERSON brings him back on a team friendly deal

Speaker 31463.8s - 1472.68s

I'm gonna lose it. You just got to, you get 15 guys that you can have on a roster. 15. Make sure

Speaker 21472.68s - 1507.32s

they're the kinds of players that you would play and want to be on your team. You don't have to, there's so many guys in the league, there's so many teams. You can just decide, yeah, that guy might be good at these kinds of things, but like, not for our team. And we have to just be able to say that this offseason. This is the last time that we can go, not for our team. And I really want Daryl PERSON to be discerning and specific about the kinds of players that he wantsand needs to be around Maxie and Mb. Because those guys are so fucking good, man.

Speaker 31507.86s - 1513.58s

We're cultural guys here. It's a better starting two starting guys than most teams in the league.

Speaker 21514.12s - 1547.44s

And we're still a team that hasn't gotten past the second round. Like, we are happy with those two guys. You just got to fucking, we got to surround them with players that are the kinds of types of players, emotional types of players, physical types of players, quick decision types of players that you want to be on a court with them, that you wouldn't go like, man, I wish we didn't have this guy so our coach wasn't forced to play him or temptedto play him. He played fucking 38 minutes and some playoff kid. What are we doing? How do they keep happening?

Speaker 31547.78s - 1591.44s

One thing that MOC wrote in the article that I actually think is wrong but not in a comforting way is when he was talking about how they scouted him and how enamored they were. I actually don't think that's what happened. I actually think they traded for Jimmy Butler PERSON. They saw it be more, they knew, I think, rather quickly that they weren't going to keep Jimmy Butler PERSON,and they were in, we got to show the fans were winning mode, and they traded for Tobias Harris PERSON as a hedge, and they gave up too much to not sign him. And I think it was actually not scouting malpractice. It was just dumb panic. Yeah. And if you remember, just one second,

Speaker 21591.44s - 1597.36s

if you remember correctly, that was when we had the five-headed GM of, you know, Elton was a

Speaker 31597.36s - 1611.88s

GM, but it was, you know, Rucker and Ned Cohen PERSON and all those guys. And when you have a bunch of people making decisions, David Heller PERSON. David Heller PERSON. It is way worse than having one bad guy making decisions, actually. Everybody can throw each other under the bus.

Speaker 21612.18s - 1612.34s

Yeah.

Speaker 31612.42s - 1618.82s

Like, it's so tough because had they traded, like, one fewer pick for Tobias PERSON,

Speaker 21619.82s - 1623s

you could have convinced, the team could have convinced themselves, like, hey, it didn't

Speaker 31623s - 1623.44s

really work.

Speaker 21623.72s - 1624.26s

Just let him go.

Speaker 71624.26s - 1625.04s

But you traded too much for him go. Let him walk.

Speaker 21626.78s - 1629.8s

But you traded too much for him and then justified signing him

Speaker 71629.8s - 1631.86s

to the biggest contract you could give him

Speaker 21631.86s - 1634s

and giving his brother a contract

Speaker 31634s - 1634.9s

who sucked.

Speaker 71635.3s - 1636.42s

You know what's wild too?

Speaker 31636.42s - 1637.94s

Because of how much you already spent for him.

Speaker 21637.98s - 1640.34s

Like, that is just such bad management.

Speaker 41640.64s - 1643.22s

It is such, such bad management.

Speaker 21643.44s - 1646.32s

And we have been living and suffering through those

Speaker 01646.32s - 1655.52s

mistakes, those two mistakes that compounded each other for years, for six years. And now it's over

Speaker 21655.52s - 1706.62s

and Joel PERSON is, you know, better than he was, but also less healthy than he was and or, you know, less time to execute what he's capable of on the playoff stage. And, and, and, you you know less time to execute what he's capable of on the playoff stage and they lucked into maxi god bless him but there's just there's so much less time because of the fuckery that happened with tobias is so embarrassing and and we're going to have opinions about who we think that they should sign and who's interesting to sign and what kind of player would be there. And some of that is going to be based on just like reputation. And it's very different to watch somebody when they're playing for your team. That's something that you and I talk about a lot when you watch somebody play for your team and need them to execute in this particular way and they don't do it. Like Dan Olinger pointed to this Clippers ORG podcast. Yeah.

Speaker 41706.72s - 1712.8s

The 213, did you listen to that? He tweeted about it. I didn't listen to it. And it's tough hearing them talk about Paul George PERSON, man.

Speaker 31712.96s - 1713.14s

Yeah.

Speaker 41713.18s - 1714.14s

It is tough hearing them

Speaker 31714.14s - 1714.96s

talk about Paul George PERSON.

Speaker 41714.96s - 1717.4s

And while I think

Speaker 21717.4s - 1770.08s

the role he would have here as a sort of five tool guy can do everything, you know, occasionally amp his game up when Mbid is hurt or Maxi PRODUCT's not on. It's hard to not trust the people that have been watching this guy play for their team for a number of years and go like, I hope you walk away. Get the fuck of here no matter what he's going to be better he would be better than than tobias but that does give me a lot of pause um and the and the sixers NORP should do more research and more and more have more information andactually no and not just be darrell going it's a max contract guy we're going to get it for him and like we'll have as good of a shot as any. Like, I need more, I need more consideration on the human level of the alchemy of this

Speaker 31770.08s - 1785.06s

team from, from the Sixers front office. What's funny about the Tobias PERSON trade is, you know, you gave up two first, two seconds and sham it. They somehow got Jimmy Butler PERSON for Covington Sarish and a second round pick. Yeah.

Speaker 21785.68s - 1786.72s

Because that, I mean, yes.

Speaker 31786.96s - 1788.32s

That was a joke of a trade.

Speaker 21788.46s - 1790.76s

That's Minnesota ORG, the wolves that we were just talking about.

Speaker 31790.76s - 1809.18s

Yeah. An embarrassing trade for them. Yeah. And the Sixers for Tobias PERSON, an embarrassing trade for them. It's absolutely crazy. So speaking of Paul George PERSON, let's go into, I feel like we have to talk about PaulGeorge here because you set it up. We got this call. I want to play two pieces of audio. This call to 833-3-lick face.

Speaker 11809.18s - 1918.08s

This is definitely Jersey GPE. I'm calling about Paul George PERSON. I think two things. First thing, Ricky fans, stop calling Paul George Tobias Harris 2.0. Not going to be Tobias 2.0 PERSON. Device Harris PERSON off his basketball team is simply addition by subtraction.A fucking banana peel can be paid $40 million. It would have been a better use of money to be thrown on the basketball court and said whatever the fuck Tobias Harris was in game six. Paying, this is the second thing, paying Paul George max money when he turns 38 years old, that's a tough sell. It's a tough sell. And maybe I'm dumb. Maybe I'm stupid. But Mike telling me he's a great fit between Tyrese Maxie and Embed PERSON is not, it's not doing it for me.Because I feel like I've heard that about Paul George PERSON at every place he went in his career. And what has that gotten every single team who's had him on their team? Nothing. He's a reputational playoff follower and never contributed to winning in the big moments once throughout his career. Not true, by the way, but... He's played with Hall of Famers across the port. So, why am I paying the 38-year-old version of a guy who cannot live up to his potential and his theoretical limits? Why am I paying the 38-year-old version of that? $50 million. Explain that to me. I don't get that. I don't understand that.

Speaker 31918.08s - 1927.9s

Now, here is Evan Turner on Paul George on his podcast with Andre Aguadala PERSON. CJ PERSON. There you go.

Speaker 81928.3s - 1941.04s

You got some teams in the playoffs right now. Obviously, the Cavaliers ORG. You have the Thunder, the Pacers ORG that used to have like crazy superstars that would make a crazy impact. Would Carmelo be decent with either the Knicks or the Nuggets ORG?

Speaker 41941.34s - 1949.56s

Now, not out to my dude, Justin Holliday, but Justin Holiday gives him that it's Mellow PERSON can plug. Nuggets ORG would be really, really unstoppable.

Speaker 81949.86s - 1956.74s

Because, I mean, people know how good Mello PERSON was. Katie would be amazing with OKC ORG. PG would be really good with the Pacers ORG. Pacers ORG would be scary.

Speaker 41957.02s - 1977.8s

But I think their krypton night would always be what it is. Either Halliburton ORG would have to mature into like the go-to-game ender. Or PG PERSON is just going to... A Halliburton matchup might be cakewalk to certain peopleto-game ender. Or PG is just going to. A Halliburton ORG matchup might be cakewalk to certain people, gee. You know what I mean? Like coming down to stretch.Like that's not in no disrespectful sense. But then I'm just saying because that's the only best option because PG PERSON has a history of not showing up, which is an understatement.

Speaker 01977.94s - 1980.24s

I never met a human.

Speaker 71980.56s - 1984.12s

They will let a media rumor drive his like energy or personality.

Speaker 01984.32s - 2002.56s

Like somebody was like, I heard he going to Philly GPE. He was like, you know what? I'm going to Philly, gee. Do you know I saw that team going to be if him and B PERSON go together? It'll probably be the most skilled duo ever since Kobe and Shat and B2 and B to be hurt and PG going to be Paul PERSON though. So the thing is though, just I know

Speaker 32002.56s - 2011.86s

it was 10 years ago. But saying that Paul George PERSON never had playoff success is untrue. He was in the conference finals twice as the best player on the Pacers ORG. It was 10 years ago.

Speaker 22012.02s - 2013.18s

And the Clippers when Kauai PERSON went down.

Speaker 32013.28s - 2015.28s

Yeah, but it did happen. Yeah.

Speaker 22015.5s - 2018.78s

He's had more playoff success than the rest of the Sixers ORG.

Speaker 32019.08s - 2020.36s

Yes, have combined.

Speaker 22020.62s - 2020.78s

Yeah.

Speaker 32021.32s - 2025.24s

So I just, can I just say, yeah. Like, if you're,

Speaker 22025.38s - 2025.54s

if,

Speaker 32025.64s - 2031.82s

if you're pointing to players who have had huge success

Speaker 22031.82s - 2044.96s

as the number one option on their teams, or even number two option on their teams, and saying like, if you haven't, then I don't want you on my team, then you're not going to sign anybody.Because that guy's not available. Right. Right.

Speaker 72044.96s - 2050.88s

If you're, if they're that good and still young, they're staying on their team unless there's something

Speaker 22050.88s - 2062.34s

wrong with them. That's why the Sixers got Jimmy PERSON for so little is because he was like a devalued asset because of like behavioral stuff and just like general team vibe. And then the Sixers gave him away for Josh Richardson PERSON for a similar reason.

Speaker 32062.46s - 2073.16s

And now he's a guy that has, you know, gotten to the finals and led his team and been awesome and all that stuff. And now he's also old. And by the way, he might be available for the same reason. It's the same shit. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 22073.26s - 2193.28s

If once the way that you get homegrown superstars is to draft them, you draft them. That was the whole point of the process is to have more bites at the apple so you can have homegrown superstars that you can watch get better and be undervalued and get them. That was the whole point of the process, is to have more bites at the apple so you can have homegrown superstars that you can watch get better and be undervalued and get them in their prime when they're not,I'm going to have to take a chance on this guy and hope that he can hold up at age 35, 36, 37. It's not a buffet. You don't just get to pick. And the fact that the Sixers have a ton of cap space right nowmeans they can sign any of these kinds of free agents, Paul George, if LeBron PERSON ops out, if you want to go back to James Hardin or DeMar de Rosen, or, you know, we'll see what happens with Pascal and OG PERSON on their respective teams. Odds are they signed? Tobias PERSON is around.Like, there's just not that many options of guys you can sign into it. Now, if you want to, you can acquire guys, but it's going to cost those picks that you will then regret trading later on when you go, man, I wish we had some homegrown guys. That could work. It's just, that's why I resent many iterations of Sixers ORG' front offices for trading so many picks is becausethey could have gotten more guys that go oh, that guy became Tyrese Maxie. And Tyrese Maxi developed into a guy that we're not going to trade. And that guy became on the Thunder Jalen Williams in a second year who's like going to be a max playeralready like there's so many of those guys that get drafted and obviously not every draft pick hits teams make mistakes uh guys get hurt guys forget how to shoot whatever it is but like when you're talking about we should get a guy in his prime who has a history of winning and would want to come here and their team would want to trade him to us for whatever. Like, that doesn't exist. That guy doesn't exist. That guy does not exist. And so you have to feel, do I feel conflicted about Paul George PERSON? Absolutely.

Speaker 32194.08s - 2196.82s

Feel conflicted about everybody on the list. Everybody on the list.

Speaker 22197.5s - 2292.02s

Everybody on the list. There's nobody that's perfect. Paul George PERSON, at least you can go and, and this is, that Clippers ORG podcast and the guys that watch watch him every single night Ruding for him wanting him to do the thing that they wanted him to do and him not doing itIt's going against that but he is certainly capable of defending at a high level He is capable of shooting space in the floor at a high level And he's capable of Running actual offense for himself isolation pick and roll Making passes doing everything on a basketball court at a very high level. Does he do it all the time? Does my wife think he's a fucking loser? And saying if you sign him, you will regret it? Yes. But like, there's just not that many options of guys that are available that would cost nothing but money in the cap space that the sixers NORP have that there's just nobody that is that is a perfect fit there's nobody that is a perfect stage of their career cost uh history of success everything there's just it's just not that's just not how it works and so you have to be real about it every single option is going to bea risk now you can say like let's go get let's go get cheaper guys and hope that like Gary Trent Jr., Bruce Brown, Malik Monk, Malik Monk, and maybe Batum and Covington and Melton PERSON, like, and that's your, that's your rotation right there and hope that they all put it together and work and maybe Gary Trent PERSON takes the next step and all of a sudden become like the likelihood of those things happening is small.

Speaker 32292.48s - 2314.74s

And by the way, a lot of times those guys get overpaid too. Yes. Bruce Brown got paid $50 million for two years. You know, so the number of role players that end up working out the way that everyone just saw,I think everyone just has like Knicks ORG PTSD. They see Josh Hart PERSON. It's understandable to overreact.

Speaker 02314.8s - 2316.4s

Yes, and Dante DiVenchez-O.

Speaker 32316.44s - 2336.54s

And it was so easy to get great players at a bargain. And by the way, the Knicks are about to give O.G. Ananoby $40 million a year. And he's a good player. And he's not like Tobias PERSON, but he's also going to get a giant contract. He's never made an all-star team. And he maybe never will in his entire career. But at least he's a very,

Speaker 22336.62s - 2340.02s

at least he can hang his hat on the fact that he's a very good defender and he's big and

Speaker 32340.02s - 2348.22s

he's big. Tobias PERSON was big out of those things. I'm just saying that those players, like, it's just, it's a lot more complicated.

Speaker 22348.3s - 2351.46s

As you were saying with the player, it's a lot more complicated than it seems.

Speaker 32351.94s - 2354.88s

The Wrights-Ricky Sanchez podcast is brought to you by L.L. Pavorsky Jolars ORG.

Speaker 22355s - 2360.14s

Mike, did you know that we hit 400, right, Ricky Sanchez listeners who purchase engagement rings from L.L. ORG?

Speaker 32360.14s - 2364.56s

I did know. I thought that that would push the Sixers ORG over the top.

Speaker 22369.66s - 2369.88s

But I guess I'm going to need to watch somebody have sex for that really lock in.

Speaker 32375.68s - 2375.84s

Yeah. So Mike promised he would watch the couple have sex if the couple is into it, of course.

Speaker 22384.12s - 2388.98s

You volunteered that I would involve myself, but I changed the terms of that to just watch and no touching. Yeah. So if you are, and I have the name and email address if you want me to send a note,

Speaker 32389.1s - 2391.12s

but if you are number 400.

Speaker 22391.12s - 2392.96s

They have to reach out to, they have to reach out to us.

Speaker 32393.32s - 2397.58s

We're not, we're not going forward and say, hey, do you want your deal? Hey, Mike.

Speaker 22397.74s - 2398.34s

Here's your perk.

Speaker 32398.72s - 2400.7s

May God bless you if they do reach out.

Speaker 42400.9s - 2401.06s

Yeah.

Speaker 32401.06s - 2410.04s

So if you are number 400, you don't, we want Mike to watch you have sex, then just, you know, writes Ricky Sanchez PERSON at Gmail.com. Yeah.

Speaker 22410.14s - 2416.48s

There's only so few, there's not that many things we haven't done in the 11 years of this podcast. And I guess, I guess that would be the next, the next logical step.

Speaker 32417.38s - 2418.6s

I'm sorry for the coughing.

Speaker 22418.84s - 2421.84s

The pollen is pollen count fucking crazy where I am.

Speaker 32421.94s - 2495.24s

I hate it. Yellow all over everything. L. L. L. Povorsky Jewel is the first sponsor of the Ricky PERSON. 400 rights to Ricky Sanchez listeners have purchased engagement rings from LL ORG. He even his Ricky PERSON customers, he gifts them Ricky stuff. I just saw on Twitter today. He ordered like two cases of the state side the year vodka so he can give it to his Ricky PERSON customers. What I like about LL ORG is that he treats all of our customers with a ton of respect and no pressure. A lot of jewelry stores you walk in there. They're on you like white on rice, as the kids say. Not LL. LL ORG. No pressure. Treat you with respect so much so that he doesn't even want you walking in. No walk-ins. Nope. He's like a fancy hairdresser. You got to make an appointment. And the reason he does that is he wants to be able to talk to you beforehand so he can have everything out for you when you show up and give you one-on-one service. Really just the best. Every person we've heard from who has purchased engagement ring from LL has been absolutely thrilled. If you want to make an appointment, 215-627-225-2 CARDINAL is a phone number. Lee at LL.Povorski.com on Twitter at L.L.Povorski ORG. The store, 707 Walnut, been there for 36 years, a supporter of our charity's Province Animal Center and Mammatiz Community Fridge ORG.L.L. Pavorski Jewelers ORG. He's watching too.

Speaker 22496.06s - 2497.1s

So, oh, God.

Speaker 32497.9s - 2521.62s

I'm bringing a friend, and it's LL. Jesus. So, so where are you on Paul George PERSON? Like, were all, oh, and by the way, just as like an addition to this, not just that caller, not just Evan Turner PERSON. Like, I've heard a lot of blowback from like our listeners. Like no, no, no, no, no, no, no. And to your point,

Speaker 22522.06s - 2525.74s

a lot of it is just like reputation. The way that like Kat PERSON has a reputation,

Speaker 32526.16s - 2534.24s

the way that Westbrook PERSON has a reputation, guys with like star level, all star level guys that are very known and have a reputation

Speaker 22534.24s - 2543.4s

are going to get that kind of treatment unless they've won a championship. Or at least like competed close to one like Jimmy PERSON has.

Speaker 32544.82s - 2554s

You know, it's funny people will bring up, and we talked about in the last pot so we won't talk again, talk about Brandon Ingram PERSON. Well, he's 27, yada, yada, yada.

Speaker 22554.34s - 2557.22s

It doesn't have as much reputation because he hasn't been there.

Speaker 32557.22s - 2578.24s

Made a ton of all-star teams and been there at the highest level and been allowed to fail at the highest level because his teams weren't good enough. And on top of that, you just have to say to yourself, and it doesn't mean that New Orleans knows what they're doing, absolutely not.But you have to say to yourself, okay, here's a 27-year-old player like going into his prime that a team has control over

Speaker 72578.24s - 2580.94s

and is unwilling to pay.

Speaker 32582.28s - 2604.9s

It's weird. Do you know what I mean? Like there is a team who, the team does not want him. And maybe, okay, he fits in the same position. He's on the same position on the court of Zion ORG. But Zion ORG's no fucking lock to play.Like Zion's hurt 70% of the year anyway. So that's like sort of a red flag for me. So here is, here's some, we talked about Jimmy PERSON last time. We talked about Paul George PERSON.

Speaker 22606.02s - 2613.88s

It's a different, it's just a different category talked about ingram then the idea of i'm i'm still like undecided on on paul

Speaker 32613.88s - 2620.94s

george PERSON i think like anybody that you sign to this kind of big contract is going to be

Speaker 22622.38s - 2626.02s

you're going to pay for it on the back end you know this is just that's just the nature

Speaker 32626.02s - 2632.28s

of these kinds of contracts you're giving him five years in hopes that the first two or three years

Speaker 22632.28s - 2640.88s

are going to be very good and then tailing off to be like just okay or one like one bad injury

Speaker 32640.88s - 2644.58s

and it's just he's never the same and then you pay to get off that contract whatever by the time

Speaker 22644.58s - 2646.24s

that the end of that contract would come

Speaker 02646.24s - 2648.06s

and Beds Prime ORG is probably over anyway

Speaker 22648.06s - 2728.78s

and you're rebuilding. It's hard to go the fact that he can just walk in and you don't have to pay any picks for him and then you have those picks to mid-season improve the rosteris very big for me. The idea that you'd have to trade a ton of shit for Kevin Durant or Brandon Ingram PERSON or Jimmy Butler to a team that doesn't want to trade them to the Sixers ORG. Right. They're not incentivized to trade in the Sixers ORG. Teams really don't like trading with Darrell PERSON that much, it seems.Especially trading star players to Darrell PERSON. They don't like that. That's something that they are not into. And so it would really require a player to say, Philadelphia GPE, that's where I'm going, that's where you're trading me. And then the team has to be the kind of team that doesn't do what, you know,Portland did and trade Dame to Milwaukee ORG. Like, it's just, there's so many variables in it. When someone's just a free agent, Sixers ORG have cab space, guy was assigned here, here you go. It just makes it so much easier. So that has, that's got Paul George PERSON with a lot going for it.But it doesn't have to just be Paul George PERSON. You could tell, you could tell me we're going to do the same thing for Seacum PERSON. You could tell me we're going to do the same thing for Ananobe PERSON, if the Knicks ORG are trying to lowball him or something like that. Well, who would you just come right now taking

Speaker 32728.78s - 2737.22s

temperature, Paul George PERSON or OG Ananobe? I would go with Paul George. Okay. Paul George or Pascal

Speaker 22737.22s - 2745.06s

Seacom. But Ananoi is seven years younger than. Yeah. Ananoby 70 years, which is nice and it's helpful, but Paul George PERSON is just a better player. He's just a better player

Speaker 32745.06s - 2750.4s

Also, by the way, I think fits a little bit better Seacum not the shooter that Paul George PERSON is

Speaker 22750.4s - 2763.38s

Not even close. Seacom, you know, higher usage sort of guy than Paul George PERSON is Yeah The question is do you do do Paul George PERSON at a max contract for five years?

Speaker 72763.78s - 2765.3s

Or do you do

Speaker 22765.3s - 2847.7s

Demar de Rosen at less than a max contract, maybe way less than a max contract for maybe way fewer years, and then have more money to go get, okay, DeRosen, obviously, not a very willing shooter, not a crazy good defender,a little bit useless without the ball in his hands. But he's physical, he plays hard, he gets to the line of fuckload, he hits tough shots always, gives you another option, run, pick and roll, that kind of thing has turned into a better passer. And then you can get him at a lower number and go like, okay, well, what else do we need? What else do we need to make that happento make a good basketball team happen out of that. And maybe that's Malik Monk PERSON. You have enough money to get Malik Monk PERSON. You have enough money to keep DeAnthony Melton PERSON if he's healthy. You have enough money to go get, I don't know, Andre Drummond as the backup center or Derek Jones PERSON or whoever.Somebody that you think like, okay, this is going to make the team better generally. Or you have picks to then trade somebody. If you don't, if you want to lose the B-ball experience, you trade B-ball and whatever for somebody that's that's available via trade because you have, you have picks to trade. That's the question. And that's what the Sixers ORG front office is hopefully deciding between now, deciding on now, because it's just a tough, is it, it's just a tough spot. There's no easy way to do it.

Speaker 32847.82s - 2861.48s

By the way. There's just not an easy way to go like, this is the answer, obviously do it. Even if your answer is like, Mikhail Bridges, number one option, Mikhail Bridges. All things being equal, absolutely, I would love Mikhail Bridges on this team. Bring them home 100%.But the Nets ORG might not trade them,

Speaker 02861.62s - 2874.14s

and even if they opened them up to trading them, the Sixers ORG might not have the best offer. Right. And it's just, it's just, you can't force teams to do shit and if you do force them to do the thing that you don't want them to do you're usually paying way more

Speaker 22874.14s - 2877.84s

than you should have to for this kind of player and that gets you in trouble.

Speaker 32878.34s - 2890.54s

Yeah, to your point it's not just up to the Sixers whether any of these things happen, any of these players. You know, like the player has to want to come hereor the team has to want to trade them here too.

Speaker 22891.08s - 2892.4s

So, um...

Speaker 32892.4s - 2893.36s

There was a quote in the Daryl PERSON,

Speaker 22893.72s - 2894.88s

in the Daryl PERSON, uh,

Speaker 32894.96s - 2895.52s

press comments.

Speaker 22895.84s - 2895.96s

Yeah.

Speaker 32895.96s - 2897.92s

That I liked a lot what he said.

Speaker 22898.12s - 2903.34s

I think he's pretty honest. But he gave himself maybe a little bit too much credit for going like, hmm,

Speaker 72903.34s - 2905.76s

I think we're good at identifying

Speaker 22905.76s - 2998.12s

minimum contract guys. I like, and that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, I was going to go stars and scrubs and hopefully that one of the, some of the scrubs are going to help enough to like, way overplay that contract and give you what the kind of, you know, instead of, you know, a guy making two and a half million or whatever it was for the minimum, you're now, that guy is producing at the level of somebody that a $12 million contract would give you because, because that's, that's the hell, the roster crunchand the money crunch and the salary cap works is those there's not that there's not much of a middle class i don't know that that's a the kind of strategy that can be repeated reliably um ubrae came here a lot based on luck um the fact that he was that that size and that athletic and and committed to defense and willing to do it. I think just assuming that it's going to happen again is unlikely. He's never been a minimum contract guy. He's going to get paid this offseason, whether it's from us or somebody else.I just don't expect that Dowell PERSON's going to find a diamond in the rough like that again. But Lowry coming here, having a biote guy come here, like finally, after years of buyout guys either not coming to Philadelphia GPE or not producing once they got here. Yeah, and also Dowell PERSON just hasn't been successful at the deadline. He just hasn't been. Not while he's been here, no.

Speaker 02998.12s - 3006.66s

For sure. He's struck out a bunch of times at the deadline. And again, that is the kind of, you can't make the other team

Speaker 23006.66s - 3044.66s

trade the player. Like, you can't make Chicago trade Andre Drummond PERSON. They didn't want to. And if you wanted to get him, you would have had to trade way more than he is worth. And by the way, wouldn't have changed the outcome. Probably not. But he would have been, B-ball was not good at this playoffs and Drummond PERSON might have helped thatin some regard, at least clean up some rebounding issues. Maybe. I think he sucks, but whatever. I've never been a Drummond guy, but watching the Knicks ORG over and over again just like maul the offensive glass and us be powerless to stop them made me like a boomer-levelhorny for Andre Drummond PERSON. Just for me to get the fucking rebounds, Jesus Christ.

Speaker 33045.84s - 3052.6s

You know, I don't think the sons are going to trade Durant PERSON. And so it's a weird conversation to have, would like to have Durant PERSON on the team.

Speaker 23052.72s - 3061.74s

Yeah, I mean, if it was all things being equal, you can have one player on the Sixers next year, Kevin Durant PERSON, even at his age, three years older than Paul George, two or three?

Speaker 33061.74s - 3063.52s

I think he's 35. He's 35?

Speaker 23063.8s - 3064.02s

Yeah.

Speaker 33064.24s - 3065.36s

I thought he was 36 or 37.

Speaker 23066.9s - 3068.7s

Would absolutely pick Durant PERSON. Absolutely.

Speaker 33069.16s - 3070.2s

Absolutely. Absolutely.

Speaker 23070.36s - 3070.74s

It's 35.

Speaker 33071.22s - 3073.48s

He'll be 36 in September. Okay.

Speaker 23073.58s - 3108.46s

So he's 36 for next year. Paul George is going to be 34 for next year. But that's Kevin Durant PERSON and all the picks it. Those are gone. And now you have fewer ways to improve the team in that way. And so this is the hard stuff, man. This is the tricky stuff. And again, the sons might not want to trade him. But the argument against that, I just keep arguing both sides because this is the conversations that are happening in the Sixers ORG' front office is like, look what the sun just happened with Bradley Beale. They acquire Bradley Beale who signed the Supermax ORG contract. Yep.

Speaker 83109.32s - 3112.96s

And he fucking is not the guy that he used to be.

Speaker 23113.42s - 3123.26s

And the idea that he's going to be, he's injured all the time. And also, when he does play, he's not as good as he used to be. And it's like, that contract is going to fucking sit there.

Speaker 33123.26s - 3126.18s

By the way, he's just a shitty version of Devin Booker PERSON.

Speaker 23126.72s - 3237s

He's a worst version. And that's bad, like, team building. Yeah. On that regard. And at least you can, that's the thing with like, the Ben, the Ben situation, the Harden situation, the Brad Beale PERSON situation. Like, there is no version of Paul George on the Sixers ORG that doesn't at least make logicalsense. You have Maxi, you have MB, you need somebody on the wing who can do everything else. He does that. And whether he can take over a game at any point or average like 24 in night or something like that as he ages into his mid to late 30s as this comes that's that we don't know but we know he's at least not a complete liability on the defensive end not a complete liability as a shooter not a complete liability liability with a ball in his hands and tobias at various points in his six years career was all of those things so no matter what he is going to be betterthan tobias if that happens and you can at least defend it by making a logical sense. Everybody else, and at least signing him, you still have other ways to improve the team. But if there's some magical algorithm that Daryl PERSON has that shows you that like, you know, trading for, I'm just trying to name a rent, or signing Haywood Highsmith and he becomes like an even better player than he is like somebody that's like a complete low contract guy and then signing him and that guy can give you what Paul George PERSON gives you forway less of a number then then great then let's then let's do that but you got to you got to hit on some of those guys and aside from Ubre it's just really really hard to hit on contributingwings contributing do it all wings at a low number. And it's just Paul George PERSON can walk in here for nothing but money right now. And that would be good, even with all of the problems with him as like a number one option, which he wouldn't be here. Yeah.

Speaker 33237.1s - 3260.78s

And, you know, you mentioned McHale Bridges PERSON. I just don't think they're going to trade him. And to your point, he is a sort of player that would fit on literally every team. So any team that has draft picks to trade, you know, like if Oklahoma Citywants him on their team, they can have him, you know, like we're going to lose out to a few different teams. Paul George PERSON,for a four-year max or DeMard de Rosen

Speaker 23260.78s - 3262.28s

for 3-120 CARDINAL.

Speaker 33262.58s - 3263.7s

Don't want Demard de Rosen.

Speaker 23264.16s - 3264.4s

Okay.

Speaker 33264.7s - 3272.04s

Yeah. Why not? It's certainly not for 40. I just don't want anyone who's not going to shoot for 3.120. I don't want Demar de Rosen. Okay. Yeah. Why not? It's certainly not for 40. I just don't want anyone who's not going to shoot a three when it gets past to them at that spot.

Speaker 23272.2s - 3277.08s

I might have overshot it. He made 27 million this year, but he has still been good and he's about to turn 35.

Speaker 33277.08s - 3279.84s

He feels like a 260 guy, like the Kyle Lowry PERSON contract.

Speaker 23279.84s - 3282.38s

Okay, well, what if it's exactly 260 CARDINAL?

Speaker 33282.52s - 3287.04s

He's just not the guy I want there. I just, I want that person to shoot three point shots.

Speaker 23287.3s - 3288.76s

I understand. I understand. I understand that.

Speaker 33289.34s - 3290.38s

I can't, I can't.

Speaker 23290.52s - 3346.28s

He's played with nurse before. So maybe there's a, there's at least a learning curve there. I would see the logic of going. Let's let's have a wing that can penetrate that can get to the line that has hit, which you have to admit, has hit a ton of tough shots over the court of big moments. Like, obviously the Bulls ORG have been pointless for a number of years, but like in close games, he hits tough shots always and always seems to make guys bite with his pump fakeand has improved as a passer and seems to be a guy that people like playing with and isn't, doesn't have the like loser energy of Paul George PERSON that we have to admit thatlike is the reputation not not knowing he hasn't played for the sixers NORP so it's it really is hard to know how real that is until you're rooting for the guy and you can tell but i wouldn't if it's if it's if it's paul george max contract four years or demar de rosen 260 and then you can go get a bunch of other guys

Speaker 33346.28s - 3355.24s

at that number i probably would go to rosen well i think that's a mistake and maybe and maybe

Speaker 23355.24s - 3360.18s

good player good player yeah i mean like darrell just seems like the guy that's always going to

Speaker 33360.18s - 3371.18s

get the better player and and and trust himself to figure it out on minimums and whatever. But like the Sixers this year, part of it was injuries, did not have enough guys that they

Speaker 23371.18s - 3424.46s

could trust when they went up against the Knicks ORG team that was bigger, hungry, or more athletic than them. And you're not going to have your pick of the best when you're only offering people minimum contracts. And also if you get the other thing about only getting big contracts is like, if you get to Rosen, then you can give guys 10 million, 15 million, look at the next cap sheet. Like, then you can package those guys up and trade him for somebody else, or you can trade one for somebody else that makes that number. It's a more tradable situation rather than like, okay. So it's like Corkmas plus house plus Springer plus, you know, even just the Sixers trading for Harden, trading Hardin to the Clippers and getting all those tradable contracts back, you could start to like, okay, it didn't work out this way, but you can start to mix and match numbers rather than going, we got Embedit at this high number, we got Mbitt at this high number, we got Maxi at this high number, we got Paul George of this high number, and the next highest guy is B ball at $8 million.

Speaker 33422.24s - 3550.84s

high number. We got Maxi at this high number. We got Paul George of this high number and the next highest guy is B-Ball at $8 million. I have a number for you. Speaker 23551.56s - 3552.68s

I just don't want to go cute.

Speaker 33553.2s - 3579.54s

Don't get fucking cute. Just let me give you these numbers. 0.6, 0.5, 1.2, 1.9, 1.9, 1.92.8 CARDINAL. Kelly Ubre assist? No. What is it?That is the number of three-point attempts per game for the last six years for DeMar de Rosen. Yeah. Topped out at 2.8 this year.

Speaker 23580.24s - 3588.06s

Bottomed out at 0.6 and 0.5. Has average... What's gone up? What's going up, right? Yes. Well, down that up, right? Yes. Well, down that up, then down, then up.

Speaker 33588.54s - 3594.66s

Average actually 3.6 in 2017, 2018. Certainly not a Darrell PERSON type player.

Speaker 23594.9s - 3597.38s

1.6 per game for his career.

Speaker 33597.38s - 3604.52s

And certainly not ideal for the kind of offball threat you want for Maxi and Mbid ORG.

Speaker 23604.6s - 3672.1s

In that version, it'd be a lot of DeRosen Embed pick and rolls with Maxi PRODUCT running off screens and spreading the floor. Because people, you could double off of DeRosen. But he's a decently heady cutter and he moves well. But the benefit to me would be you can sign this guy for a lot less and get other guys. And also, he can be a numberone option in like crunch time situations. But it's not perfect. Nobody's, nobody's perfect. They really, truly aren't. I just don't want Daryl PERSON to do like, I just don't want him to do the cute thing where it's like, this guy's undervalued and maybe, maybe it can work for us. It just really feels like. It never does, Darrell PERSON. It almost never does. Yeah.At the minimum, you take a swing on a guy that you like if you think, okay, this kind of athleticism and size and body and type of player or whatever skill set you havethat you think, sure, take a swing. Moabamba PRODUCT was a great swing to take. It did not work out, but it was a great swing to take and you do that work out, but it was a great swing to take, and you do that every day of the weekat the minimum, totally fine. But like, don't get cute

Speaker 33672.1s - 3673.8s

with some of those other guys.

Speaker 23674.72s - 3677.12s

The Knicks win 130 to 121,

Speaker 33677.24s - 3682.54s

but lose O.G. Annobe to a strained hamstring. Jesus. Brunson PERSON did play,

Speaker 23682.66s - 3683.84s

finished with 29. Holy shit.

Speaker 33684.2s - 3685.14s

Brunson PERSON played,

Speaker 23685.4s - 3695.16s

but from reports looks like he was pretty limited in that second half. You know, it's funny. I like all of...

Speaker 33695.16s - 3696.26s

Pacers ORG just don't defend.

Speaker 23696.56s - 3698.22s

Yeah, well, also people were complaining

Speaker 33698.22s - 3720.72s

that Carlisle PERSON would not play TJ down the stretch when he was, he had, I think, 13 assists tonight or something like that. You know, you can't play, they played Alec Berks a little bit tonight. We didn't see Alec Brooks one time in the entire series. Berks played one minute in this game. Just that I saw him on the court,

Speaker 23720.82s - 3721.82s

I forgot he was on the Knicks ORG.

Speaker 33722.62s - 3731.98s

And then he left the court as soon as you stopped looking. You just cannot play all your players 45 minutes a game and have them not hurt themselves.

Speaker 23732.22s - 3734.04s

Like you just can't, you know?

Speaker 33734.04s - 3738.46s

Flash Heart 48, Devinchenzo 44. Yeah.

Speaker 23739.06s - 3741.14s

Brunsum only 32 because he missed.

Speaker 33741.36s - 3745.86s

Yeah, but he played 20 minutes in the second, 22 minutes in the second half when he was hurt. Yeah.

Speaker 23746.48s - 3746.84s

You know?

Speaker 33747.14s - 3849.78s

And they won. Fuck, man. It's crazy. He's a fucking lunatic. This came from Slavic to Wrightsariki Sanchez PERSON at gmail.com. Hello, Spike, Mike, C.J. and Darrell PERSON.First of all, thank you in your Wrights ORG, Ricky Sanchez PERSON unit for what you are doing. I'm with Spike on the team not embarrassing us this year. In my opinion, if it was a second round exit, it would be something fair considering hardened summer and current roster. But we were the seventh seed, which brings me to this. Darrell didn't make this year's top 15 executives. This offseason is the time to correct it,but the task at hand is tricky. This team can't be built strictly into Joel PERSON's extensions and fall apart every time without him anymore. Trying to build a more generic roster could result in another 1920 team. I'm probably wrong. That's why I'm crying words into a keyboard and Daryl PERSON's out there playing chess with B-ball. I trust in Daryl, but it's time for Mr. Mory PERSON to earn his story. Now, despite the early exit, I feel hope, which I haven't felt since before the Jimmyand Tobias PERSON trades, because now the front office can actually get things done, not just react. There is no bend, there is no harden, and it looks like a calm, productive offseason is looming. I know these words will come back and kick me in the dick, but I'm now at peace, which I wish all for you. He says one thing that is very important there, it is that if we give Daryl PERSON every benefit of the doubt, every benefit of the doubt, didn't want to trade Tobias because it would have cost a first round pick.He didn't want to do it. Didn't want to make a big deal of the deadline because he wasn't sure about him being, and he had a big offseason coming. Yada, yada, yada, all of these things. Then it's all been building to this particular off season, and he just has to fucking, he has to crush this off season.

Speaker 23849.78s - 3850.3s

Yeah.

Speaker 33850.38s - 3853.94s

Didn't trade any first at the deadline. Didn't trade Tobias PERSON.

Speaker 23855.24s - 3866.42s

Kept the cap sheet completely clear aside from Mbid, Maxi, and Ricky Council because B'Ball PERSON is non-guaranteed. I believe Ricky Council is non-guaranteed as well.

Speaker 33866.6s - 3867.8s

Well, I'm guaranteeing it.

Speaker 23867.82s - 3868.16s

Okay.

Speaker 33868.5s - 3869.28s

I'm doing it right now.

Speaker 23869.92s - 3911.04s

I think that there's a good chance that they are at least looking and considering, especially because of the tax situation and the rules against the second apron and the apron and the hard tax and all the stuff that they are, that other teams run the league cheaper owners will be wanting their GMs to get the fuck out of that's part of why the pelicans are looking to trade ingram is because they don't they've never paid the luxury tax and I think some getting some guys like for example I don't this is me shooting from the hip but like couldyou get Jeremy Grant from Portland for like just thank you for taking him off our hand, like, for like one pick, basically.

Speaker 73911.04s - 3913.56s

Yeah. I don't know.

Speaker 23913.62s - 3925.64s

I don't know what I do that. Is that like a, is that a happy resolution to the third guy there? I'm not sure. He's at least young in athletics, though he's 29. I think I'd still rather have Paul George

Speaker 33925.64s - 3926.52s

yeah for sure

Speaker 23926.52s - 3955.52s

yeah and the guy can just again he can just walk right in there thank you for the money I'm now on the team it costs you nothing else but I think you're gonna look around and go like which teams have players that they don't want to signbecause or they don't want to hold on to because they they don't want to pay more in tax or the suffer the consequences of the the aprons and stuff and the hard cap. So we'll see. And we'll keep looking at the free agents and, you know, we can look at guys that we want more.

Speaker 33956.24s - 3957.44s

I know you're a Gary Trent PERSON guy.

Speaker 23958.04s - 3959.42s

I love, I've always loved Gary Trent PERSON.

Speaker 33959.5s - 3960.3s

He's got big balls.

Speaker 23960.44s - 3961.54s

Him and Nurse PERSON don't get along, right?

Speaker 33961.88s - 3962.58s

I don't think so.

Speaker 53962.58s - 3963.26s

Wasn't there an issue there?

Speaker 33963.5s - 3963.78s

Uh-huh.

Speaker 53964.94s - 3970.48s

But yeah, finding who those guys are that would love to have the kind of,

Speaker 23970.48s - 4017.8s

I'm just going to name Nuggets, but like the kind of Bruce Brown PERSON working for us at a low number in a playoff series. KCP ORG on multiple teams doing just like playing good solid role player basketball and stuff Darrell PERSON I think doesn't thinks you can get role players for cheaper and is willing to payand usually overpay for stars and for the potential. Paul George's is that it's going to hurt at some point but can you steal a good playoff run with if everybody's healthy at the same time beforeit before the back end of the contract starts to hurt but you're right i mean like the it's he's just he's just got to do it like darrell truly he's been here for what is this is this is he's

Speaker 34017.8s - 4024.56s

going into his fourth season here he got here during the after the covid season DATE right so

Speaker 24024.56s - 4026.68s

2021 yeah because he drafted maxi in 20 2021 21 22 here during the after the COVID season, right? So 2021. Yeah.

Speaker 34026.68s - 4034.24s

Because he drafted Maxie in 20. 2021, 21, 22, 23, 24. So this is about to be his fourth season.

Speaker 74036.58s - 4040.9s

He's done for as much chaos as there has been around the team,

Speaker 24042.96s - 4145.98s

partly his fault, partly not his fault. He's not, like, done that much. Do you know what I mean? Like, it's a little bit like, he made the hard and trade and that's big, and then he traded harder in a way and that's big.But other than that, like, it's kind of just been not flipping the table, not going too hard, not stakeaking any big claims in anything. Just sort of, there's been no massive free agent signing. It wasn't like the Al Horford offseason. It wasn't like the, we're going to trade for Jimmy and Tobias in the same, during the same season. It's just sort of like and beat and Maxie we take a swing with with Hardin that didn't work I'm a liargoodbye and now it's like this it really has all been building to this and this is the most fresh air that they will have to do kind of whatever they want within reasonand he's just got to be a lot of the guys that darrell assumed would be available or or thought could be available at this in this off season have re-signed with those teams or will like seemingly resigned with those teams yakomanoi i'm talking about and so's like, there's just not that many guys that it could be. There's just not that many as it could be. So it's either it's Paul George, it's DeRosen, it's LeBron PERSON, or it's a trade. And they would have to, we would have to just absorb whoever into our cap and pay picks for that.

Speaker 34147.18s - 4149.48s

We end the pod on a sad note.

Speaker 24150.28s - 4159.58s

The first, as far as I can tell, the first person on the shirt to pass away is Darius Morris PERSON.

Speaker 34159.98s - 4194.46s

That is very sad. Darius Morris, Morris's family announced his death in a statement shared with TMZ on Saturday. With great sadness, we announced the passing of our dearly beloved son, Darius Aaron Morris PERSON. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace. That is a statement from the Lakers ORG. His body was found in Los Angeles area according to TMZ ORG.Lakers ORG' family did not provide a cause of death. So rest in peace Darius Morris the on the shirt Sixer NORP in 2013 thefirst year of the process so um

Speaker 24194.46s - 4210.68s

Speaker 24244.36s - 4245.82s

Speaker 04246.12s - 4247.14s

Speaker 34247.34s - 4248.44s

They re-hydrated him.

Speaker 04248.68s - 4250.06s

He finished the fucking race.

Speaker 74251.12s - 4253.32s

He finished the fucking race.

Speaker 24253.46s - 4253.62s

Speaker 74253.78s - 4254.38s

That's right.

Speaker 34255.2s - 4271.2s

Wow, well, wow. The other race my brother did that I have some video of, there's a race in San Francisco near the Golden Gate Bridge where it is a one-mile loop and everybody runs for 24 hours and the person that runsthe most laps wins. Holy shit.

Speaker 24271.42s - 4272.6s

My brother and his friend

Speaker 34272.6s - 4302.46s

I was there just filming. Didn't bring a chair. There's no chairs there, guys. Just so we know, there's no chairs there. You're sitting on the ground.I didn't know that. This is before Uber ORG too. So I bring the camera, I film them. They give up like 13 miles into it. Because they can't run anymore. My brother and his friend, they just can't do it anymore. I make them pop champagne 13 miles into it. They each take a sip of it. We couldn't get a cab, couldn't get an Uber ORG, had to walk back to the hotel after they had run for 13 hours. Yeah.

Speaker 24302.96s - 4303.18s

Yeah.

Speaker 34303.56s - 4309.64s

So good luck, CJ PERSON. 50K. Is it, can you tell us where it is? Are you too scared?

Speaker 44310.02s - 4315.6s

No, it's the dirty German trail run in Pennypack, North Philly GPE. Oh, wow.

Speaker 84315.6s - 4327.86s

Pennypack Park FAC. Oh, cool. Is it a loop? Or it has to be. Yeah, it's like a figure eight loop. That's, I think it's like 25K, a a full loop my dad has an iconic story among my friend

Speaker 24327.86s - 4336.56s

Speaker 44336.56s - 4348.28s

Yeah, please do.

Speaker 24351.18s - 4351.84s

Just start digging.

Speaker 44352.2s - 4352.38s

Speaker 44361.28s - 4362.4s

Not 50K.

Speaker 24362.82s - 4363.04s
