Speaker 40s - 6.62s

I mean, what's the football football is doing? Last week they had Brady. This week they got Brady. We're doing it.

Speaker 06.68s - 8.64s

We're literally doing it differently from everybody else.

Speaker 48.82s - 13.52s

As a matter of fact, moving more from this point on, I will not make reference to the PFL.

Speaker 014.12s - 14.96s

Ready to get into it?

Speaker 415.06s - 15.2s

Yeah.

Speaker 015.4s - 15.8s

All right.

Speaker 416.12s - 19s

We're going team by team. I would be very careful with that slings.

Speaker 119.2s - 26.28s

Am I going to get sued? You got legal on this? Let's send you out on the right now. PFF ORG sucks. Have a great day. Boom!

Speaker 026.28s - 36.72s

Wow! Welcome in to the PFF NFL podcast, Steve Pelazola, Sam Monson PERSON.

Speaker 436.78s - 62.98s

We're live on YouTube. It's May 13th. It's really the real, real, real offseason here. So we're talking to NFL ORG, but we got some news. We got some breaking NFL news, some big time breaking NFL news to discuss here today. Then we'll get into the most improved teams, Sam PERSON.All right. What broke? There's a new hire for the Carolina Panthers over the last few days. Ah. From the PFF ORG tree. The PFF ORG tree.

Speaker 063.18s - 67.06s

There's an announcement. It's a big week. It's schedule release week.

Speaker 467.68s - 77.78s

Some people are releasing their schedule mock drafts. And Pete Trager, who's awesome at mock drafts and predicting Super Bowl EVENT winners. And he's one for one in his schedule mock draft.

Speaker 278.54s - 80.08s

In his schedule mock draft?

Speaker 480.28s - 80.5s

Yeah.

Speaker 281.24s - 97.36s

I don't understand the hype around the schedule. I get it for people that want to to plot out what games are going to. You know, people actually attend the games. That makes sense. For the rest of us, it's like the games are coming. You know which ones are happening anyway. What difference is a matter when?

Speaker 497.48s - 100.34s

The NFL ORG is just marketing geniuses because they just flood the timeline.

Speaker 2100.64s - 111.68s

I mean, if you see what happened, you know, you follow a lot of insiders as we do, NFL people, as we do. It's Monday morning. Everyone has just tweeted out the same image.

Speaker 0111.96s - 116.62s

Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, by the way, spoiler alert here. Ravens Chiefs ORG will kick off

Speaker 4116.62s - 120.2s

the season. That's the break of the Thursday game to kickoff. But that, but that's how,

Speaker 2120.44s - 125.92s

that's how the day started. Shefters got it and everybody, the NFL ORG's putting it out there

Speaker 4125.92s - 132.9s

and everybody's just got this image. Mahomes, Lamar, it's week one, AFC championship rematch. So they know how to hype this thing up.

Speaker 2133s - 141.38s

I know I'm a week late on this, but as a diehard Brady fan over there, did you have feelings about the roast, the Brady roast?

Speaker 4141.68s - 142.28s

Not particularly.

Speaker 2142.42s - 146.26s

A lot of people saying mean things about Tommy PERSON. No, I mean, people, including, you know Not particularly. A lot of people saying mean things by Tommy PERSON. No, I mean, people.

Speaker 4146.58s - 158.36s

Including, you know, teammates. I saw the people, first off, all those, all those jokes are well written by actual comedians. Except grunks, which was hilariously on brand.

Speaker 2158.36s - 158.82s

Which is even better.

Speaker 4160.44s - 172.76s

I think, I saw the people who were like, wait, they paid Brady $25 million for people to come in and, you know, make fun of his ex-wife. Yeah. He's like, I mean, Kelsey, Jason Kelsey PERSON was making that point.

Speaker 2172.76s - 175.94s

He was like, I don't get roasts.

Speaker 0176.14s - 181.9s

Like, you watch the thing and it's like, there's a lot of jokes there that sail very close to the bone.

Speaker 4182s - 185.68s

You would do well to come out of that without getting hurt feelings.

Speaker 0185.84s - 186.32s

It's for the money.

Speaker 2186.42s - 190s

Regardless of who you are, right? Because everyone's a target. But you know.

Speaker 1190.12s - 198.42s

Whatever's name is, Tony Hinchcliff just sort of went down the line, just hammered everybody, right? So everyone's getting annihilated. Unless you're getting the money,

Speaker 2198.92s - 199.58s

a lot of it,

Speaker 0200.1s - 201.58s

you would do extremely well

Speaker 2201.58s - 205.16s

to come out of that without getting your feelings hurt. They all got paid to be there too.

Speaker 4205.16s - 216.14s

Yes. But Jason Kelsey PERSON was making this point. I don't get gross. Like I don't. Why would you volunteer to sit there just have people absolutely rip you shreds for stuff that's definitely going to hit a nerve?

Speaker 2216.3s - 221.94s

You know, it's not like, ah, yeah, that's good. That's a good joke, you know, you and me laughing together.

Speaker 4222.06s - 223.76s

It's like, no. You can't laugh at yourself, man.

Speaker 2223.88s - 231.32s

Yeah, but there's a thing, you know, there's a line there. And they definitely consistently cross the line in pursuit of funny, right? I don't know.

Speaker 4231.32s - 233.42s

I'm pretty thin-skinned. I probably couldn't handle it.

Speaker 2233.52s - 234.34s

No, definitely couldn't.

Speaker 4234.58s - 235.34s

For $25 million.

Speaker 2235.34s - 237.76s

But for $25 million. I'd be able to suck it up. Find a way to handle it. Yeah.

Speaker 4238.56s - 243.7s

And he had to do it to offset all the money that he lost in the scam. In the crypto. Yeah.

Speaker 1243.7s - 245.6s

The crypto thing. Yeah. They joked about it. Right. I. Yeah. The crypto thing, yeah.

Speaker 0245.6s - 246.68s

They joked about it. Right.

Speaker 4246.68s - 257.04s

I'm just saying it's like, did he actually make $25 million, which he offset because he lost $20, didn't he lose $25 million? Something like that, yeah. Right? So Netflix was like, hey, heard you just lost $25 million.

Speaker 2257.04s - 258.04s

We'll give you $25.

Speaker 4258.04s - 270.76s

What if we could replace the $25 million? What if we could replace that $25? You just have to, you know. In the budget. And then Brady just threw on like a whole persona where he's like, I'm the goat, you know, let me just talk down to everybody.I mean, they're all just actors. Yeah.

Speaker 2270.92s - 271.5s

They're all just actors.

Speaker 4271.5s - 285.46s

I just, I don't, I'm, I'm in the Jason Kelsey PERSON camp of money aside, not quite getting the allure of roasts. I think it's a very American NORP thing. I don't think they tend to exist elsewhere. It just, I don't know. I don't quite get the

Speaker 2285.46s - 292s

appeal because they're, they're pretty mean-spirited. And as a mean-spirited person, I just,

Speaker 0292.2s - 296.5s

it's too much for you. Yeah. I don't know. I want to open myself up to that. Not that anyone's

Speaker 2296.5s - 301.8s

queuing up to roast me as a, you know, on TV. We can do that in the chat. And they do.

Speaker 4302.5s - 305.9s

I mean, we open ourselves up three times a week, sometimes two times a week

Speaker 2305.9s - 311.42s

in the offseason. Hey, I brought that up. I brought our negotiations to the forefront with Greg

Speaker 4311.42s - 317.6s

the other day. Oh, yeah? I said, Greg, management wants us to go three times a week in the off season.

Speaker 1317.6s - 322.1s

What do you guys do? He says, usually two. Oh, and they're a bigger, a bigger podcast than we are.

Speaker 4322.2s - 331.44s

And award winning, right? I brought our internal discussions and negotiations with management over here.

Speaker 2331.46s - 332.64s

We should definitely use that.

Speaker 4332.64s - 333.1s

To the public.

Speaker 2333.2s - 339.72s

We should use that in as, look, an award winning podcast that beat us for the award we're going for.

Speaker 4339.84s - 343.14s

And is a larger audience than us does this.

Speaker 2343.34s - 343.52s

Yeah.

Speaker 4343.78s - 344.16s

Or go.

Speaker 2344.26s - 345.62s

Unless something's coming up, you know.

Speaker 4345.72s - 346.14s

You do that.

Speaker 2346.14s - 347.92s

They might even take a couple weeks off at a time.

Speaker 4348.1s - 348.38s

Wow.

Speaker 2348.54s - 350.38s

They kind of regroup before training camp.

Speaker 4350.48s - 350.94s

That's crazy.

Speaker 2351.04s - 351.66s

If I understand.

Speaker 4352.36s - 354.46s

So just saying, that's all I'm saying.

Speaker 0355.3s - 356.44s

We got most improved teams.

Speaker 4356.56s - 361.9s

We also have to go through our draft bets. I didn't add that to the title. We have to go through the draft bets and see who won.

Speaker 2362.12s - 362.38s

Okay.

Speaker 4362.5s - 434.32s

So I can pull that up at some point here as well. Yep. So start thinking about the most improved teams in the NFL ORG. Speaker 2437.82s - 438.3s

I am. So the breaking news in the NFL, Ravens Chiefs, week one.

Speaker 4439.12s - 457.48s

Done that. Yep. And Dr. Eric Eager, formerly of PFF via Sumer Sports as well, has been hired by the Carolina Panthers ORG for a publicly undisclosed job description. But, I mean, I know what it is.

Speaker 2459.78s - 461.86s

I just don't know if it's public yet. But Eric's been hired by the Carolina Panthers ORG.

Speaker 4462.08s - 467.78s

The tweet said something like to work in the analytics department or to work in analytics or something like that.

Speaker 3467.78s - 468.08s

That is correct.

Speaker 2468.28s - 468.4s

Yeah.

Speaker 4468.66s - 470.64s

I mean, I don't know what else.

Speaker 2470.7s - 472.04s

He's not being hired to play tight end.

Speaker 4472.38s - 472.82s

No.

Speaker 2473.24s - 474.5s

Analytics department does make sense.

Speaker 3474.5s - 474.78s

That would be a big jump.

Speaker 2475.16s - 475.76s

So yeah, Eric PERSON eager.

Speaker 3475.88s - 477.88s

Congrats to Dr. Eric PERSON.

Speaker 4478.12s - 478.72s

The late doctor.

Speaker 3479.04s - 479.22s

Yeah.

Speaker 2479.54s - 484.94s

And so it's just another, I was talking to him the other day, congratulatory phone call.

Speaker 4485.5s - 494.12s

And I said, is this for the PFF tree? You know, do you go into the front office with a PFF hat or a Sumer PERSON hat? And I think it's got to be a PFF ORG hat, right?

Speaker 2494.58s - 504.36s

Well, that's the tree. I mean, Sumer PERSON. Just move my chair down. Yeah. Okay. The Sumer PERSON is his own thing, right? But the coaching tree comes out from PFF ORG.

Speaker 4504.36s - 505.18s

It's our tree. Yeah. It's our tree. Yeah.

Speaker 2505.24s - 505.72s

It's our tree.

Speaker 4506.44s - 508.76s

The question is, who within PFF ORG claims it?

Speaker 2510.16s - 511.64s

Well, Rick PERSON's gone now, so I'm going to claim him.

Speaker 4511.64s - 513.72s

I mean, I was one of the early advocates for.

Speaker 2513.8s - 520.88s

But he was also, yeah, he was also doing P.P. He was doing special team stuff. So like Gordon and Khaled PERSON of claiming him as well.

Speaker 4521.04s - 523.64s

It's all under K. It's hired everyone. Yeah.

Speaker 2524.1s - 525.12s

No, well, there was a while.

Speaker 4525.12s - 526.32s

He gets credit and blame for everybody.

Speaker 0526.78s - 530.28s

There was a while where everyone had to do their own, like, little interviews.

Speaker 4530.52s - 532.38s

You had to screen your own people.

Speaker 0532.68s - 532.98s

That's true.

Speaker 4533.06s - 533.36s

We did.

Speaker 2534.48s - 535.9s

Did I hire Zach PERSON exactly?

Speaker 4536.02s - 536.64s

No, not really.

Speaker 2537.14s - 538.1s

Neil really brought him.

Speaker 4538.1s - 539.12s

Yeah, Zach PERSON was all.

Speaker 2539.22s - 540.5s

Those people were always.

Speaker 4540.8s - 544.06s

But Neil, I mean, Zach PERSON learned under my wing.

Speaker 2544.28s - 544.56s

Yeah.

Speaker 4544.74s - 545.86s

No, I think you could claim him. Under. No, I think you could claim him.

Speaker 2546.32s - 546.94s

Under the wing.

Speaker 4547.06s - 548.02s

I think you could claim Zach PERSON.

Speaker 2548.02s - 548.18s

Yeah.

Speaker 4548.68s - 550.48s

I can claim Bruce PERSON, too.

Speaker 2551.3s - 551.5s

Right?

Speaker 4551.58s - 555.38s

Like, Bruce used to drive down here from Toledo GPE. We'd buy him lunch. UFL.

Speaker 2555.68s - 556.22s

Once a week.

Speaker 4556.38s - 559.24s

Offensive coordinator for a team that's still doing really well, I think, right?

Speaker 2559.24s - 559.94s

Bruce Kretkowski PERSON.

Speaker 4560.08s - 563.44s

I mean, he used to sit down with me and I'd teach him the ways.

Speaker 2564.4s - 566.5s

Learn them the ropes over here at PFF ORG. So yeah, congrats to sit down with me and I'd teach him the ways, learn them the ropes over here at PFF.

Speaker 4566.96s - 582.86s

So yeah, congrats to Eric working with the Panthers ORG. They've made a few different moves there. Brantilla PERSON's coming over from the Kansas City Chiefs with a pretty high up position there next to Dan Morgan PERSON, the new general manager. So Eric PERSON's going to be working with that group.

Speaker 2583.46s - 593.94s

Bruce running the second most prolific offense in the U.F.L. ORG right now for the St. Louis Battlehawks ORG. Five and two, top of their conference, division, whatever you call the thing, X-FL ORG conference.

Speaker 4594.06s - 601.68s

Not going to lie, my weekends in the offseason are pretty loaded. Haven't had a chance to sit down and watch AJ McCarran PERSON in the fighting battlehawks.

Speaker 2601.68s - 611.04s

I've caught a little bit. I'm trying to kind of keep an eye on it without watching three hours of UFO games. You know what I mean? I mean, I'd like to I'd like to catch up.

Speaker 4611.08s - 615.62s

Maybe grind the film by June, you know, getting June to go back and watch the, you know,

Speaker 2615.62s - 621.54s

watch the UFO film. It's the spring soccer league for the, you know, the under 12 girls team that

Speaker 4621.54s - 626.44s

we're coaching, you know, Scat's team. So I'm busy trying to reinvent wing play here.

Speaker 2626.68s - 629.68s

I don't have time to, you know, get deep into the UFO.

Speaker 4630.02s - 631.8s

I got Harry and Teddy PERSON playing baseball.

Speaker 2631.96s - 632.48s

Can't hit a ball.

Speaker 4632.52s - 638.64s

I mean, I got to teach them how to hit. They can't make contact. Brutal. And, I mean, Harry PERSON's pitching pretty well, though.

Speaker 1638.72s - 641s

Let me know if you want to, if you want me to come in.

Speaker 2641.24s - 642.12s

Yeah, do you want to coach him up?

Speaker 1642.66s - 645.44s

It's really difficult teaching people something from scratch.

Speaker 4645.44s - 646.38s

From scratch.

Speaker 1646.38s - 654.06s

Right. Like I've taught professionals, borderline professionals, the whole thing, college kids. I kind of forget it's like, this is what a throw is.

Speaker 2654.06s - 656.92s

Yeah, like you can tweak emotion, but how do you actually go?

Speaker 4657.08s - 662.72s

This is a bad. I don't understand how to go from zero to throw. You have to get yourself in this headspace that they literally know nothing.

Speaker 2662.98s - 664.68s

They have no baseline for anything.

Speaker 4664.92s - 666.44s

And that's a challenge as a coach.

Speaker 2666.48s - 695.1s

Well, this is why the ceremonial pitch outs, you know, the ones that go into the dirt or into the stands or whatever, the ones that look so ridiculous. It never computes in my brain that there are people that can't just throw a ball 60 feet or whatever it is, right? Like, whatever, hitting 60 was one thing, but at least it was like a genuine sort of understanding amongst all parties that I could throw a ball the 60 feet that was required for this to happen. It was just could I do it at 60 miles an hour or not?

Speaker 4695.1s - 705.72s

I mean, just I think it shows just how great baseball players, athletes are that it is so difficult for the average person, an athlete to throw a ball. No, I don't think it does. It shows how great we are. I don't think that's true so difficult for the average person in athlete to throw a ball.

Speaker 2705.84s - 706.62s

No, I don't think it does.

Speaker 4706.62s - 714s

It shows how great we are. I don't think that's true because I think the average person can throw. I think it shows how bad all these people are that they find to do that.

Speaker 2714.46s - 725.52s

Because I'm an average person I can throw a ball. That's not the standard. The standard is higher than that. Anyway, we, uh, is that, is there any other breaking news?

Speaker 4725.56s - 726.32s

Anything you want to add?

Speaker 2727.04s - 729.16s

No, just congratulations to the good doctor.

Speaker 4729.28s - 738.4s

Yeah, so congratulations to see how that goes. I mean, rest in peace. He's not here at PFF ORG any longer, but he is with the Panthers ORG. Yep. I don't love that he is in the NFC South LOC,just like Zach PERSON.

Speaker 2738.5s - 739.28s

When I've got competing,

Speaker 4739.44s - 765.24s

PFF ORG interests. Yeah, at least Bobby PERSON's in the other conference. Right. In the AFC. But it's just another team. Well, I'm sure, I mean, listen, if Eric PERSON's got some dirt that he wants out there in the public,if he wants some misinformation out there, he knows he has us to use. He knows he has a voice. If he wants to, you know, trash Bryce Young's PERSON work habits or something like that so that the front office looks better, whatever you want to call it, we're here.

Speaker 2765.38s - 774.88s

And hopefully it will give us an even greater insight and understanding into the mind of a billionaire, which is always a positive. Yeah. And what a billionaire to work with.

Speaker 4775.4s - 777.36s

Can't wait for those stories.

Speaker 2778.04s - 780.44s

That is the best thing is billionaire stories from our friends.

Speaker 4780.68s - 781.22s

It really is.

Speaker 2781.22s - 781.72s

In the industry.

Speaker 4782.04s - 784.68s

Can't really tell them publicly, but behind the scenes, they're awesome.

Speaker 2785.46s - 786.94s

Other rumblings and other things going on.

Speaker 4787s - 790.22s

We can't get into it yet. But any other NFL ORG news while you're gone here?

Speaker 2790.7s - 791.86s

No, nothing much happened.

Speaker 4791.86s - 792.46s

Had a lot of fun.

Speaker 1792.88s - 796.62s

If you guys missed it on Thursday, had Greg Rosenthal PERSON on the show, which was great.

Speaker 4797.08s - 804.56s

I mean, we just, he was, I did not prepare him much. I said, we're going to talk draft in general offseason, which I felt like was broad enough.

Speaker 2804.56s - 806.16s

I felt like that was a good enough topic.

Speaker 0806.28s - 809.28s

And he felt like, man, you didn't give me anything to prepare for here.

Speaker 2809.28s - 812.34s

We need one of those shows that you do with Greg every year.

Speaker 4812.44s - 814.42s

We need to find a way of making it happen in person.

Speaker 2814.64s - 819.5s

Because the amount of crap I take from being next to you and looking like a child.

Speaker 4819.84s - 820.62s

Bring the booster seat.

Speaker 2820.82s - 826.48s

Right. Imagine what Greg PERSON would look like sitting next to you in the same, you know, chair, same setup.

Speaker 4827.7s - 830.98s

Anything else you want to touch on here at the top of the show? No.

Speaker 2831.5s - 834.02s

No, I think we can, you know, get into the meat of the.

Speaker 4834.4s - 885.46s

Most improved teams. You want to do most improved teams? And then, so the draft bets that we'll get to, remember, those were from you. Those were from our viewers and our listeners. Bet's probably not the right word. There were predictions. They were bold takes. They were whatever you want to call them. But you put something up, often coffee. I at least see one Kirkland ORG coffee that we're going to be winning. So we'll go through that in a little bit and see how well your predictions were for the NFL ORG draft. But first, let's talk most improved teams. And, you know, the off season's mostly over. There'll still be a few one-off late veteran signings and, you know, some training camp moves and all that. But knowing that the, with the draft behind us, free agency behind us, who are the most improved teams in the NFL ORG? Who stands out to you as a most improved team this offseason? So let's start with the Chicago Bears ORG.

Speaker 2890.12s - 893.04s

I think you have to say the Bears ORG are an extremely improved team given where they were and what they've gone to.

Speaker 4893.48s - 895.68s

Obviously, the whole offseason decision was,

Speaker 2895.78s - 959.5s

will they, won't they with Justin Fields PERSON? Are they going to move on? Are they going to use the number one pick on a quarterback? Or do they trade down, take a massive haul of picks, continue to build around Justin Fields, give him one more year and then hope that he's the guy effectively commit to him long term. They decided to trade him away for pennies on the dollar. They get Caleb Williams. They get Roma Dunzee PERSON in the same draft. And now you are theoretically rebooting but starting over with a vastly improved situation. So unlike the Justin Fields PERSON spot where he was genuinely set up to fail, they had nothing around him. And the fact that he showed anything with the environment that was around him those first couple of years, I think is actually an impressive thing in his favor. Caleb Williams is now throwing to Romodunze, DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Cole Komet, Gerald Everett PERSON,you know, guys out of the backfield, D'Andre Swift, Killeel Herbert PERSON. I mean, this is a very, very good group of skill position players around him and an offensive line that if he plays more within structure than Justin Fields PERSON did, is probably going to look a lot better.

Speaker 4960.24s - 1033.26s

Yeah, and I think if you look at this from a multi-year view, obviously we're talking most improved. We're going to talk last year to this year. The Bears, they earned the ninth overall pick, not the first overall pick. So they were still one of the worst teams in the NFL ORG, but not the worst. But from a multi-year view, remember when Ryan Poles PERSON took over, they had some cap issues. They had very little in the way of draft capital. And one of the first moves was to trade Khalil Mack PERSON, which feels like a long time ago when the bears were unloading Khalil Mack to the chargers and kind of restructure in the roster. But now they didn't have as many draft picks this year, but they had the two high-end picks, and Caleb Williams and Roma Dunzee had a ton of picks in 2023. I'm not saying it's, look, I think the roster itself, top to bottom is below a lot of, you know, at least two of the other teams in the NFC North when you talk about the Packers and the Lions ORG have. But it is better than it was a couple years ago. I think the offensive line looks reasonable enough. You know, they looked worse at they, with Justin Fields PERSON at quarterback. You mentioned that trio at receiver. That's how I always look at teams, man. I look at the quarterback and I look at the past catchers. And I say,is the offensive line good enough? And I feel like the bears have all of that. I think one of my

Speaker 01033.26s - 1048.58s

questions for the bears is on the defensive side of the ball. They were really good down the stretch there. And they brought in Montez Sweat in the middle of the season. Kevin Byard PERSON comes in at safety. Does he still have something to offer there? They got young in the secondary with Tyreek Stevenson and Terrell Smith last year to go with Jalen Johnson PERSON, who they just paid.

Speaker 41049.08s - 1058.02s

It does look like they've got more talent on the defensive side of the ball. Can they keep that down the stretch type of cohesion that they had? That was pretty good.

Speaker 21058.16s - 1129.96s

I think the Bears ORG are feeling pretty good. We're going into 24 here. Keeping hold of Jalen Johnson PERSON was a big thing. On what was a fairly team-friendly deal as well, they deserve a lot of credit for that. I don't know if you want to give them credit for that in terms of offseason, just keeping your guys in the building. But their defensive approach, Kevin Byer PERSON aside, seems to have beenlargely, we have a ton of young guys, let's hope that they get better next year as opposed to let's really reinforce this and, you know, bring in several more players and upgrades. They have gone. We invested heavily last season. We got Tremaine Edmonds PERSON. We got T.J. Edwards PERSON.We got those draft picks in the middle. Gervon Dexter, Zach Piggins PERSON, et cetera. You know, the corners, Tyreek Stevenson, Terrell Smith PERSON. Let's hope that they get better and improved together. And if they do, this group becomes really good. If they don't, you know, we'll deal with that in the future. But that I think was their approach in that. It's like all the focus was on offense. Let's make sure this quarterback succeeds as opposed to the last one. The Caleb Williams thing is going to be fun because the bears have an all-time, pitiful history of quarterback play. And Caleb Williams has got some funny numbers to chase. You know what the rookie Chicago ORG record is for touchdown passes?

Speaker 41130.98s - 1133.36s

Oh, it's like 17 or something.

Speaker 21133.36s - 1133.74s

It's 11.

Speaker 41133.96s - 1134.5s

11.

Speaker 21134.9s - 1136.84s

So, yeah, he has 11.

Speaker 41137.06s - 1148.34s

11 touchdown passes. He ties the rookie record. You know what the overall record is for this team? Which, let's remember, who was a founding member of the NFL ORG? 28.

Speaker 21149.06s - 1150.2s

29, close.

Speaker 41150.62s - 1153.26s

So nobody has ever... Is that Eric Kramer PERSON? Yes.

Speaker 21153.48s - 1180.22s

Nobody has ever thrown for more than 30 touchdowns in a season as a Chicago Bears ORG quarterback. Eric Kramer, 29, 2 J. Cutler seasons. Number four on that list is Sid Luckman, who did it in 1947. That's how bad this history is. So as a rookie, it's entirely plausible that Caleb Williams becomes the all-time leading single-season touchdown passer for Chicago ORG. And in fact, that's corresponding for like yardage

Speaker 41180.22s - 1186.64s

as well, right? No, you know. I'm very, I'm very snobby when it comes to people citing the record book.

Speaker 01187.1s - 1191.18s

Yeah. So through the years, I've brought this up before. But when people, so I thought,

Speaker 41191.38s - 1213.66s

Cam Newton, I thought during his career was a solid NFL ORG quarterback. I don't think he's a Hall of Famer, like some people think. I don't think, I honestly don't think there was more than a two-season stretch where Cam Newton was a top 10 quarterback in his era when he played. 2015 and he won the MVP WORK_OF_ART. Everywhere else, he was probably QB-11. He was, like, competing with Matthew Staff PERSON for QB-11 in his era, right?

Speaker 01214.38s - 1220.16s

And every time I bring up something like that, people like, Cam Newton has 29 NFL ORG records or whatever it is.

Speaker 41220.46s - 1251.18s

And most of the records are like, most yards through one game. Yeah. Most yards through two games. Most yards through three games. Most rushing touchdowns are there for Cam. And that's, that's a thing. So what I'm saying, Caleb Williams is going to be breaking Bears rookie records by week seven. And it's going to be Caleb Williams has, you know, 92 Chicago Bears rookie quarterback records at the end of the season or whatever it is.And all I ask is that we don't completely overreact. Plus, there's a 17 game schedule. Yeah. You know, you stay healthy for 17 games. He's going to destroy these things.

Speaker 21251.18s - 1264.08s

And the fact that, like, forget the rookie records. Like Chicago's quarterback history is so bad outside of Sid Luckman, who was working in the 1940s, that all of their records are in play.

Speaker 01264.48s - 1278.1s

Like, the bar is set so low for him that every single passing record Chicago ORG has to offer is on the table for somebody like Caleb Williams if he comes in and has a really good rookie season. They have no more use for the bears.

Speaker 21278.5s - 1288.12s

Can I use that still? I don't see why not. Do you have anything else on the bears? If there's one thing you've learned from the late Dr. Eric Eager PERSON, is it a joke has never been used too much?

Speaker 41288.18s - 1302.16s

Never too much. You keep flogging that thing. I'm going to miss. I'm going to miss Eric, you know, attacking the fan accounts that have 250 followers. What if he still does it? What if he still does?Yeah.

Speaker 01302.68s - 1306.1s

What if that's part of, maybe that's, maybe he's there

Speaker 41306.1s - 1310.28s

his social media director. So he's going to have to be on Twitter ORG. Maybe they got him for his social

Speaker 21310.28s - 1315.48s

media skills, his tact, even. I mean, it would be, this is probably, I don't know what the

Speaker 41315.48s - 1347.76s

panther's internal policy is on, you know, social media presences from their staff. But I would imagine this is the most restrictive entity that he has entered into as a public-facing figure, right? And I mean, it won't be public-facing, you would assume, with Carolina GPE. But between PFF, Sumer, and now the Carolina Panthers ORG, I'm going to go ahead and say theirs is the most restrictive social media policy of the three. They're going to have to tie his hands during lunch break. You know he's going to see something. He's going to get Twitchy PRODUCT.He's going to get Twitchy. He's going to respond.

Speaker 21347.92s - 1350.5s

He is going to have seven burner accounts.

Speaker 41350.5s - 1367.84s

He'll have some burners going. So the main account is now going to go silent. But there's going to be seven interesting Carolina GPE focused burner accounts that surface. There's no person in the world who is going to have the most obvious burners. When he starts talking about Brownian motion or whatever, you know.

Speaker 31369s - 1369.42s

Sorry.

Speaker 41369.72s - 1372.84s

I don't know who Joe 67934 PERSON is.

Speaker 31372.94s - 1373.88s

I don't know who that is.

Speaker 41374.28s - 1388.68s

Talking about brownie in motion and mathematical concepts and whatever else. It's going to be tough to have burners, Eric PERSON. It's going to be very tough. You have to dumb it down a bit. He did say maybe because he can't podcast, though, he's going to listen to us. Yeah.So he'll be listening.

Speaker 21389.3s - 1392.64s

Well, we can give him tips on how to avoid getting rumbled as a burner account.

Speaker 41392.98s - 1395.64s

Yeah, don't just don't get a burner, Eric PERSON.

Speaker 21395.72s - 1397.62s

You can't hide your voice.

Speaker 41397.82s - 1399.14s

It's very tough to hide Eric PERSON's voice.

Speaker 21400.04s - 1401.98s

I mean, I imagine it's easy enough.

Speaker 41402.06s - 1403.24s

You just have to be conscious of it.

Speaker 21404.36s - 1404.66s

All right.

Speaker 41404.7s - 1407.74s

I'm going to go my most improved team that stands out to me is the Tennessee Titans ORG.

Speaker 21408.62s - 1411.64s

Now, is this really short-sighted?

Speaker 41411.64s - 1418.58s

Because they made a lot of, let's get better in 2024 types of moves, including, you know, trading for Lagerius Sneed PERSON.

Speaker 21419.06s - 1423.6s

They now have a, they have a wide receiver room.

Speaker 41424.7s - 1426.26s

I think this is just their starters.

Speaker 21426.5s - 1427.4s

Shoot, Eric PERSON's texting us.

Speaker 41427.54s - 1428.5s

The top three, is he really?

Speaker 21428.5s - 1428.82s

He is listening.

Speaker 41429.1s - 1429.28s

Yeah.

Speaker 01429.64s - 1433.46s

Their top three wide receivers have an average age of 30 plus.

Speaker 41434.02s - 1434.22s

Yeah.

Speaker 01434.26s - 1434.84s

That's crazy.

Speaker 21435.7s - 1437.9s

Yeah, so I think that's fine for this year.

Speaker 41438.58s - 1478.74s

You know, so I can't remember if this was on the Greg PERSON show when I was talking about this. I'm a big believer in those top three receivers. I think DeAndre Hopkins is still a wide receiver one, probably the lower end of wide receiver one type of history. Calvin Ridley is better as a two, and he gets to be a two here next to Newk Hopkins PERSON.And they just signed Tyler Boyd PERSON, who I think, look, he's not coming off a great season, but is a pretty good wide receiver three right now. So I like that trio of receivers. J.C. Latham PERSON, early reports are that he will play at left tackle, so they're going to put him on the left side. I think, look, the tough part is projecting a rookie going out there and performing well right away.

Speaker 11478.86s - 1479.06s

Right.

Speaker 41479.38s - 1520.38s

But Latham and Peter Skoronsky on the left side here, they're bringing Lloyd Cushenberry PERSON, who's coming off of his best season to play center. They could be solid in four out of five spots there, which is better than they were, way better than they were last year. And then defensively, you know, I think Devonre Sweat PERSON can make an impact right away as a nose tackle right next to Jeffrey Simmons PERSON on that defensive line and that secondary, as I mentioned, legurious need, but also Chita Bay Ousier PERSON coming in, say what you want about the money for both of those corners and what they have invested going forward. But I think for this year, the Titans ORG look a lot better. I don't know if it'll show on the record because it all depend on Will Levis PERSON, but I think they've put some pieces onto that roster that was rebuilding about a year ago at this time.

Speaker 21520.68s - 1633.16s

Yeah, I mean, Sneed, I think, is a fantastic move for them overall. Like, they traded for him for them overall. Like he, they traded for him for really not much at all to the point where, you know, we were wondering why it was reports that his, his knee was an issue and that that was what was kind of holding up trade talks. But if they've cleared him medically, I mean, the cost to get him was incredibly good from their perspective. The contract that they signed him to wasn't insane either. So you add Sneed, you add a Woosier PERSON, who's a perfectly capable starting corner,to Roger McCreary, who I think was the one player in that cornerback room already that was actually pretty good and can operate from the slot. It is a pretty overhauled cornerback room that should definitely be a massive upgrade. The interesting thing is they've kind of done what the bears have done in terms of, all right, let's really build around Will Levis PERSON and give him the opportunity to succeed, except instead of, you know, like the bears kind of did it by hitting everywhere they could, right? We'll bring in one big move the DJ Moore PERSON thing as part of the trade. We'll bring in a veteran for, you know, a fourth round pick, but the giant contract that he's on, and then we'll get, we'll grab a rookie and we'll sort of hit every level of this. Whereas the Titans ORG have gone, let's just grab all the 30-year-old players that are already good, right? We'll just pay him. Hopkins, Calvin Ridley, we'll pay him big money, and we'll bring in Tyler Boyd PERSON as the sort of post-draft free agent. Now we've got this entire really experienced wide receiver room who probably has one year left before they're all done. And that's it. That's all we got. Which is, I mean, it's an interesting approach. From this point, like 2024, Will Evers PERSON should be very well set up to succeed in terms of people he's throwing to 2025 who knows and then for whatever it's worth i i don't remember how much you

Speaker 41633.16s - 1638.42s

look into this stuff but they're they're talking up trailing berks in camp too they're talking up

Speaker 21638.42s - 1644.22s

trailing berks but this is after just signing tyler boyd which leaves trailing berks i mean this

Speaker 41644.22s - 1645.12s

might be where he belongs.

Speaker 21645.12s - 1674s

You said you like him as a, you know, with the ball in his hands, you know, the Nekeel Harry PERSON role. No, the Traylenberg's Arkansas ORG role. Like, he's now, he becomes the designated gimmick. Like that, if you watch his tape in, in, in Arkansas ORG, he was not playing wide receiver. He was playing athlete. He was. It was like when you watch, colleges do this as well, but high school in particular, if you watch these guys in high school, it's like who is our best athlete and how do we get the ball in his hands, right?

Speaker 01674.16s - 1679.14s

Now, it's so extreme in high school. Generally, that guy plays quarterback, so he's got

Speaker 21679.14s - 1683.66s

the ball in his hands every time. But if he doesn't, he plays the way Trayland Berks PERSON played,

Speaker 01683.76s - 1685.34s

which is he's going to line up a

Speaker 21685.34s - 1732.74s

quarterback in the backfield, in the slot, at tight end. We're going to move him everywhere. And every play is essentially designed to go through that guy and just get the ball into his hands regardless of where he's lining up, but in a variety of different ways. He was really good at that. It just wasn't a wide receiver position. And the question for him coming into the NFL ORG was, okay, that's great, but can you translate that to now you're going to play X receiver or Z wide receiver or, you know, you have to fit into some kind of conventionalposition and operate that way. And so far, he hasn't been able to do that. So if you just put him back in that role and say, you're not having a designated gimmick except instead of every play coming to you, it's like one in every 12, you know? He should be still good at it.It's just a much smaller role than it was in college.

Speaker 41733.4s - 1752.62s

That has been intrigued by the Titans ORG. Anytime you move people down the depth chart at receiver and you tap into just what they do well, I think that's a good strategy. So I like the Titans ORG. All right. You have another most, there's a really obvious most improved team that we haven't talked about yet. Is it the Pittsburgh Steelers ORG? It's not who I'm thinking of, but if you

Speaker 21752.62s - 1762.24s

want to talk about them, we can't. The Steelers ORG would have been the next team that I, uh, brought up. Obviously, at PFF, we're contractually obliged to hate the Steelers ORG and everything they stand for,

Speaker 41762.62s - 1766.72s

but yeah, this is going to put us in hot water with management, but we already are, as we discussed

Speaker 21766.72s - 1767.06s

before.

Speaker 41767.44s - 1768.4s

Right, because, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 21769.54s - 1878.94s

I think, look, they decided the Kenny Pickett thing wasn't going to work. We're going to go in a different direction, and they did not have a ton of good options. But the options, so when you bear in mind that Mike Tomlin, the Pittsburgh Steelers ORG, their baseline is. They don't have losing seasons. They're generally above 500 and challenging for the postseason. They were doing that with Kenny Pickett, having not developed at all. They bring in Russell Wilson PERSON and are paying him effectively nothing. He's like $1 million. He's against their cap this year. Denver is eating all the pain of the Russell Wilson PERSON contract. And then they trade for Justin Fields for the flip side, the pennies on the dollar deal that Chicago ORG dealt him awayfor. And he's on the books for not a lot of money as well. And obviously, there's the potential upside of what he could become. Then you look at what did they do to the rest of the team relative to that quarterback situation. So number one, I think either one of those guys is an upgrade over Kenny Pickett from last year, right? Whatever you think about Russell Wilson PERSON and his limitations and what he can be and where he belongs, he's better than Kenny Pickett has shown to be.And Justin Fields, I think is better than Kenny Pickett if just because he's way more dangerous, so you have to be concerned by way more things than you do with Kenny Pickett. So I think the upgrade, the quarterback situation without spending a lot of money. And then you look at the overall roster. I think they added a ton of potential impact players and rebuilt an offensive line that's been sort of churning itself in the right direction anyway. The draft in particular obviously was where they did the heavy lifting there. Troy Fautano at left tackle, Zach Frazier at center. Both of those guys could start day one. And then even Mason McCormick PERSON lower down, he's more of a long-term thing, but as a developmental guy that could eventually find his way into the starting lineup.

Speaker 41879.38s - 1979.88s

Yeah, I view that, I don't know if the Steelers are going to be most improved from last year to this year, but they would, they'd be on the list for me as far as two years worth of really like what they're doing. And as I've said before, I think they're making the right move at quarterback, given their circumstances. I just don't know if it's actually going to make an impact. Will Russell Wilson actually make an impact or Justin Fields PERSON if he gets an opportunity to play? Will they actually make enough of an impact impact that you'll feel it? But I would say the offensive line, you know, moves that they've made this year to kind of, I think they'll have a chance to have a really good offensive line over the next few seasons. Again, you've got two rookies, perhaps, in the mix right away. Do you feel that right away in 2004? Not sure. I'm not sure. I like what they've done on the defensive side the last couple of years. Adding a guy like Keanu Benton in the draft last year had a nice rookie season. You can get more from him. Patrick Queen PERSON. Maybe, you know, the way he's progressed in his careermight solidify the linebacker position for Pittsburgh ORG. They've been looking, they've had this like revolving door of linebackers and corners the last couple of years. Queen PERSON could be the guy to solidify linebacker. Year two of Joey Porter Jr. could be the guy to solidify one of the corner spots. So I like a lot of what Pittsburgh ORG's done.I think there's some easiness, uneasiness about the receiver situation right now. The opposite of what they've had in the past, they were rolling pretty deep on paper, at least, at receiver. Again, you didn't feel it because the offense was not great from Matt Canada PERSON. Kenny Pickett was inconsistent. But George Pickens PERSON, and they're just kind of stitching it together.Maybe Roman Wilson is the guy to step up as a third rounder, but that's a lot to ask. But overall, I like what Pittsburgh ORG's doing.

Speaker 21980.88s - 1986.62s

So what do you make of the coaching change as well? Because obviously Matt Canada's PERSON offense was much maligned.

Speaker 41986.96s - 2010.44s

And Arthur Smith PERSON coming in here. Yeah, for a long period of time. And Arthur Smith PERSON is the guy that comes in eventually to replace him. And Arthur Smith PERSON has become like a meme, right? Because instead of getting the ball to Bijan Robinson and Kyle Pitts and Drake London PERSON, the ball goes to like random other people like, you know, Jonu Smith PERSON or whatever, right? But and, you know, maybe there's a, maybe there's a ceiling on

Speaker 22010.44s - 2019.96s

how good Arthur Smith's PERSON offenses can be, but they're generally pretty good. Like, they're not bad offenses. They're just frustrating for people that want their fantasy player to get the bulk of

Speaker 42019.96s - 2025.06s

the workload. So, theoretically, they should have upgraded significantly going from Matt Canada's

Speaker 22025.06s - 2050.02s

offense that's been unable to do much of anything to Arthur Smith PERSON. But then you get the joke of like, okay, we've got George Pickens and Roman Wilson in the draft and, you know, Pat Frymer PERSON with a tight end. But but who's that who's this offense actually going to go through? Is it going to be the Scotty Miller offense this week? Or, you know, is Denzel Mims finding going to break out within this offense to get 12 targets? Just get off the internet.

Speaker 42050.82s - 2074.14s

Take like Dr. Eager over there and just get off the internet. Like Scotty Miller PERSON was the number four read on a crosser in the red zone. And it's like, Scotty Miller PERSON's stealing all the red zone targets. Come on, Arthur PERSON. What are you doing? Let's be fair to art here. Okay. Let's be fair. He was the guy that got Ryan Tannanahill's career on track in Tennessee GPE. He was the one where

Speaker 02074.14s - 2081.44s

Ryan Tannahill had career years with the Tennessee Titans under Arthur Smith PERSON. And then with the

Speaker 42081.44s - 2144.68s

Falcons, he had one step into retirement Matt Ryan for a year. And then Desmond Ritter, who isn't going to be starting in the NFL ORG going forward. So those were his quarterbacks. Now, I'm not saying he was perfect, right? He did run power into a formation where he displaced the right tackle, left a hole like he was photoshopped out of the play and ran behind that hole on fourth and one on a play last year.I'm just saying, that's just reality. It happened. So I'm not saying he's perfect. But I don't think Arthur Smith PERSON's as bad as social media would have you believe. Because it's a lot of the fantasy people. Like, oh, Bijon ORG doesn't have the touchdowns. It's Al Jir PERSON. Oh, no. It's like he is right. I mean, we're trying to put the ball into the end zone. Anyway, this is Darnel Washington's PERSON time to shine. I liked Darnel Washington coming out as a third rounder for the Steelers ORG. Last year, as a run-blocking tight end that they're going to use in this offense, him and Friarmooth PERSON. I think there's a chance that this fit does work pretty well for the Steelers ORG.

Speaker 22144.94s - 2245s

So the Arthur Smith, Russell Wilson PERSON, access is going to be fascinating. And it might only be for a few weeks. Maybe it's actually Justin Fields PERSON. It's going to be the guy that wins that starting job going forward long term. But on the one hand, you could picture Arthur Smith being a perfect coach to get Russell Wilson PERSON back to where, you know, whatever his potential ceiling is right now. Like there's some elements of the Arthur Smith PERSON offense, a lot of play action, the sort of thingsthat work for Ryan Tannahill that you think those are perfect. That's what we want for Russell Wilson right now. Sort of actually do what, you know, the Seahawks ORG did for a while, limit the ask of Russell Wilson PERSON, not expect too much of him, help him out with play action. On the other hand, so that side, you're like, that's a great fit. That's exactly what you want from Russell Wilson right now. The downside is Arthur Smith PERSON likes to target the middle of the field a lot. And Russell Wilson PERSON doesn't like doing that at all and never has.To the point where there, a lot of the times you sort of look, you know, you tend to sort of divine that out from looking to passing maps and where the routes are run. And we talked about that with Matt Canada's PERSON offense, right? They didn't even run routes into the area of the field. You're like, why are they not targeting that? Because there's nothing in there. It's like the quarterback is looking at a thing, turning it down, going somewhere else. There's not a route in that spot of the field. But Russell Wilson PERSON doesn't like targeting the middle of the field to the extent where there are routes into those spaces. They're open. And he's like, eh, not for me.I'm going to go down here. This is a guy streaking down the field. I'm going to take a shot at that instead. I'm going to turn down on the slant. And I'm going to go down on this post over here.

Speaker 42245.06s - 2246.16s

To George Pickens PERSON, most likely.

Speaker 22246.22s - 2246.4s

Right.

Speaker 42246.9s - 2247.98s

So that'll be interesting.

Speaker 22247.98s - 2257.22s

On the one side, you've got a lot of play action, a lot of things that should help Russell Wilson PERSON. On the other hand, you've got the entire offense wants to work in the area of the field. You don't like targeting. So how's that going to work?

Speaker 42257.58s - 2265.76s

Now, for the fantasy pundits out there, I didn't realize this connection the other day, but when you mentioned Scotty Miller, he is on the Steelers ORG now.

Speaker 32265.86s - 2266.04s

Yeah.

Speaker 42266.46s - 2272.56s

And Mike Cole PERSON, is it Mike Cole? Yep. Pruitt PERSON's the, you know, he's the guy getting, was he getting end around?

Speaker 32272.64s - 2282.36s

No, John Hussmith PERSON was getting the end rounds. And Pruitt PERSON was stealing touchdowns too, I think. He does, Arthur Smith does have his favorite guys in there sitting at wide receiver six and tight end four on the depth chart.

Speaker 22282.44s - 2286.46s

And Cordarral Patterson PERSON signed the very second that kick returns became a thing again.

Speaker 42286.46s - 2293.3s

But the receiver room is the one that I do have some questions about now. Because they traded Deontay Johnson PERSON.

Speaker 22293.54s - 2295.58s

A lot rests on the shoulders of Roman Wilson PERSON.

Speaker 42295.84s - 2326.24s

Like he actually does kind of need to come in and be good right away. And then, I mean, if Steve PERSON was GM and you said, Steve PERSON just signed Cuez Watkins, or Steve was GM and you said, Steve just signed, Cuez Watkins, or Steve has Cuez Watkins, Calvin Austin, and Scotty Miller PERSON, all on the team. You'd think, yeah, that's about right. I got three speed, one, you know, one trick down the field type of guys.Right. To be our deep threats. So one of those guys could step up as the deep threat there.

Speaker 22326.38s - 2327.26s

Sure.

Speaker 42327.5s - 2333.86s

All right. The other, you good with the Steelers ORG? Yeah. The team that I think was the most obvious is the Houston Texans ORG, though.

Speaker 32335.46s - 2335.52s

We started in the NFC ORG.

Speaker 22335.8s - 2337.44s

That's good. It's not just AFC teams.

Speaker 42342.12s - 2383.16s

But the Houston Texans are probably the most obvious, most improved team this offseason, right? I mean, it's in part because you know what C.J. Stroud PERSON did as a rookie. So you know, okay, we're in year two of C.J. Stroud, and we need to build around him. We've got that rookie contract to build around. What are we going to do? Well, we're going to trade for Stefan Diggs. I know we lost Jonathan Granard PERSON, but may have upgraded with Dinell Hunter coming in to play opposite Will Anderson. So the Texans ORG have to be on this list here because they're going to be everyone's darling, ringing Joe Mixing PERSON, everyone's darling to be the next teamto go up and challenge the chiefs, the bills, the Ravens, the Bengals ORG, the teams that have been near the top and fighting for the AFC championship the last couple years.

Speaker 22383.58s - 2400.88s

Their approach has been really interesting because they have gone, they've made the kind of moves that are, they would be talked about all-in moves if there was more of a track record there. Like if this was the second or third year that the Texans ORG had been playoff bound, you know,

Speaker 02400.96s - 2436.5s

if they were like the bills, right, and the bills had made these moves, you're like, oh, Buffalo ORG's going all in to try and get over that hump. They've made those types of moves. Like they've voluntarily gotten older and more expensive in multiple positions in the kind of, this is the guy that puts us over the hump move. Only they just encountered the hump like last year. They've only just seen the hump for the first time. It's not like a hump that they've consistently not been able to get over. It's like we've only just, this thing is only just loomed on the horizon into view. And they're like, oh, we're going to need more reinforcements to get over that. You know, they're like planning before they've arrived at this thing.

Speaker 22436.72s - 2480.54s

So they go and get Dinell Hunter as opposed to Jonathan Grenard PERSON. It's a kind of interesting approach and Stefan Diggs PERSON as well. You don't usually see a team, number one, that has the advantage of that rookie sort of quarterback deal very early on. Number two, they only just sort of arrived on the scene as this up and coming side throw that much at this sort of short term and approach, particularly the Diggs PERSON thing.I mean, you know, Dinell Hunter PERSON is still in his prime, but it's only, that one only looks strange when you view it through the prism of letting go Jonathan Grenard to bring in Dinell Hunter PERSON, you know? You had a guy that was pretty good and productive and young.

Speaker 42480.54s - 2482.52s

But he was hitting free agency. It's not like you really had him.

Speaker 22482.6s - 2513.12s

No, I understand. Well, you had him under contract. And then, you know, you could have. Well, you had him under contract. And then, you know, you could have gotten him, you could have signed him long term for a fraction of the deal that Dnell Hunter PERSON signed before you got to free agency, is what I'm saying. So they sort of, there was a conscious approach there of we're probably going to let this guy walk. And instead, we'll bring in a much more expensive and more productive, to be fair, older player. So I don't know quite what to make about how aggressive they've been with this.We can win this year.

Speaker 42513.44s - 2515.86s

Well, let's not have short memories here, Sam PERSON.

Speaker 22515.94s - 2521s

We were the one sitting here four years ago, two back-to-back offseason say,

Speaker 42521.1s - 2522.3s

what are the Texans ORG doing?

Speaker 32522.4s - 2529.04s

Why are they just signing backups? Why are they just signing rotational players? They were in limbo with the Deshawn

Speaker 42529.04s - 2559.08s

Watson contracts. Then they trade Deshawn Watson to the Browns. And of course, that's one of their big opportunities. And I'm sure they looked at, as critical as I was about the Will Anderson PERSON trade and everything, I'm sure they were looking at all this extra draft capital that they got for one Deshawn Watson PERSON and said, okay, we're able to be a little bit more aggressive for guys like Will Anderson PERSON and to make those moves. I didn't read the, or listen to it exactly, but I saw the rankings on Twitter ORG. So that's how you do things, right? You just saw the headline,

Speaker 32559.2s - 2571s

let's respond. Yeah. But Kev Cole, former PFFer and rest in peace, and Ben Baldwin went through and they ranked the front offices every year. And I think they put the Texans in the bottom five this year.

Speaker 42571.06s - 2575.5s

They put them low. And again, without listening, I'm just going to guess.

Speaker 12576.12s - 2576.62s

Right?

Speaker 42576.7s - 2597.38s

That's how you do things here. They're both very process-oriented, and I assume that they're looking at the Houston Texans ORG process and saying, okay, do they deserve credit for C.J. Stroud? You know, so there's a lot of the analytics folks who would look at decisions and say, do the lions deserve credit for drafting Aiden Hutchinson PERSON?

Speaker 02597.5s - 2601.22s

That was the obvious, right? Well, in the Texans ORG, they just happened to be the number two

Speaker 42601.22s - 2703.14s

pick that year. Who knows if they actually would have drafted Bryce Young if they had the number one pick. But they had the number two pick. The Panthers ORG made the decision for them. And the consensus pick was C.J. Stroud PERSON. They made the decision that was correct. And then they gave up three high, you know, draft picks for Will Anderson PERSON.And so was their, is their process actually sound in how they got here? And, you know, that's probably the criticism there. I don't think I'm not, so my point is I disagree with. I'm not necessarily going to go down that path, that they are not doing a good job and just kind of stumbled into this. I think that once they realized whether they stumbled upon C.J. Stroud PERSON or not, and, you know, we're aggressive to go get Will Anderson PERSON. I like that they've been aggressive this offseason. It has offset. And when we said, when they were making go get Will Anderson. I like that they've been aggressive this offseason. It has offset. And when we said when they were making all those non-aggressive moves, here's our special teamer. Here's Desmond King PERSON who's going to play in the slot. And they were spending $4 to $6 million for 20 players. I do think there was some culture shift in there. I do think there was, you know, some long-term fought into some of those moves. Maybe not like those guys are a part of the team right now, but just kind of resetting things in Houston GPE. some long-term thought into some of those moves. Maybe not like those guys are a part of the team right now, but just kind of resetting things in Houston GPE.So I want to give them credit for that, whether they deserve it or not, and give them credit for going and getting Stefan Diggs PERSON. Call me, I like shiny objects, but Stefan Diggs to go with what Nico Collins and Tank Dell PERSON showed last year and Noah Brown PERSON, former top recruit, who looked like a stud at times with C.J. Stroud. So I think the Texans ORG deserve credit forafter, whether they were lucky or not to get Stroud PERSON, now realizing the moment, realizing the three-year window that they have and going after it. You see they traded for Ben Skoronic PERSON as well?

Speaker 22703.3s - 2707.02s

I meant to text Bobby PERSON about that because that just struck me as quite a funny trade.

Speaker 42707.56s - 2708.44s

Well, they need a fullback.

Speaker 22708.54s - 2708.8s

Right.

Speaker 42709.76s - 2710.56s

Fullback slash.

Speaker 22710.82s - 2712.46s

They need a receiver. They need a receiver.

Speaker 42712.46s - 2717.08s

It was one of those like this is the minimum we could possibly trade, right?

Speaker 22717.18s - 2720.08s

Because it was Scoronic and a seven. It was a swap of two.

Speaker 42720.32s - 2722.28s

2000, 2006, seven.

Speaker 22722.28s - 2728.1s

It was a six to a seven, but it might have been two. It might have been moving down in both the 6th and the 7th.

Speaker 42728.64s - 2731.14s

I just saw Scaronic and a 7 for a 6.

Speaker 22731.44s - 2740.88s

Okay, so yeah, the way the tweet I saw was worded could have been either moving down in two different consecutive rounds or it could have been swapping a 6th for a 7th. Yeah.

Speaker 42740.96s - 2742.82s

Either way, it's not much. Where does he fit in on that?

Speaker 22742.82s - 2790.98s

The other move, by the way, that they made that's a very sort of short-term-ish move is Joe Mixon PERSON. They're running back. And Mixon PERSON, yeah. So, like, I'm not saying any of these are bad moves at all. And in fact, I think all of them made them better. But at least two of those moves, Dinell Hunter, Stefan Diggs, and Joe Mixon seem like quite short shelf life moves for a team that expects to be good for like the next several years. You know, like the window for them such as these things exist just opened, right? CJ Stroud PERSON rocks up. He's amazing. Will Anderson PERSON's good. You just nail two picks. Window starts to open. What they've done is like, let's throw as much at this window as possible. Cram everything through the window while it's open. Quick, mixing, Diggs PERSON, you shove it all through.

Speaker 42790.98s - 2804.84s

But the window's not going to close. Even if you did, even if you do overpay or Hunter regresses over the next couple of years and Diggs is really only a one year option, you've got the, you have money to play with heading into the 25 season as well. You have.

Speaker 22804.94s - 2807.08s

Yeah, but compare this. Open, man. But compare this approach to like into the 25 season as well. You have the windows open, man.

Speaker 42807.08s - 2810.5s

But compare this approach to like how the lions are doing things, right?

Speaker 22810.76s - 2843.74s

Like they have sort of very steadfastly avoided those types of moves. They've gone, no, we want everything we do wants to be in the optimal zone to try and keep this window open for as long as possible, as opposed to let's shove as much through the window as now that it's open as we can. It's just, I mean, I'm not, I'm not saying either of these things is right or wrong. It's just these are two interesting, contrasting approaches to what appears to be a similarly opening Super Bowl EVENT window.

Speaker 42844.1s - 2867.52s

So Steve over here, third person. Steve PERSON has a short memory too. I may have copy and pasted my same take from the Chargers after they realized they had Justin Herbert. And then it's like, oh, we're going to trade for Khalil Mack and we're going to load up and we're going to, you know, hasn't necessarily worked out. But I still like that approach. I think that's the way to go. Okay. Even if it didn't work for the Chargers ORG, not the top of my head. All right.

Speaker 22867.58s - 2877.36s

Teams that have tried it. Okay. All right, who else you got in the most improved list? I mean, one or two more teams. There's one other team that I definitely want to mention. Can the Jets count for getting Aaron Rogers back?

Speaker 42877.58s - 2879.22s

Yeah. Because that's pretty significant. Yeah.

Speaker 02879.52s - 2894.16s

Now, outside of that, they might have gotten worse. Like, numbers two through 53 on the roster might be worse heading into 2024 than they were heading into 2023. But theoretically, you get Aaron Rogers from more than four snaps this time.

Speaker 42894.46s - 2920.4s

I want to say this. This is very anecdotal. But in all of our, in the many years that we've been doing this, I do feel like most off seasons, it's easy to build optimism for a team, right? It's easy to build optimism and you think, oh, they've made these moves. Overall, they're going to be better. But there's usually like one or two teams that I highlight where it's like, ah, it doesn'tfeel as good, right? It doesn't feel like they got better. A couple years ago, I remember it was the Cowboys ORG. Yeah.

Speaker 32920.56s - 2921.8s

Didn't feel like they improved.

Speaker 42922.02s - 2969.16s

Then the next year they offset it, felt like they improved. Either way, they still landed at 12 wins and lost in the playoffs. That's what they do. This offseason feels like maybe more of the good teams may have regressed a touch. It feels less comfortable for teams like, say, the Ravens ORG, the way they've been just gutted from a coaching and front office and offensive line,an overall player standpoint. Do the Ravens ORG feel a little bit worse? The bills maybe feel a little bit worse. I get it, youth movement, but it just feels a little bit worse. The Cowboys ORG, again, feels a little bit worse than they were. Anecdotally, I think there's a few more teams that are like that, whereas you could build optimism for these other teams. But to your point on the Jets ORG, I was going to say, you can cheat and say, okay, it's not necessarily because of the decisions that they made. But yeah, like with Aaron Rogers

Speaker 22969.16s - 2978.1s

coming back, they should be much better. Yeah. And I do think it's cheating. I mean, Rogers PERSON is already there. They're just getting him back at this point. This isn't an official list.

Speaker 42978.32s - 2981.9s

This isn't, there aren't rules here. We're not breaking rules. It's our show, Sam PERSON. Yeah.

Speaker 22982s - 2986.14s

We could do whatever we want. Right. And my preference would be to disqualify them.

Speaker 42986.74s - 2992.3s

But Tyrant Smith PERSON coming in at left tackle, Olu Fascheneu and the draft to back up Tyrant Smith,

Speaker 22992.4s - 3048.44s

who you know will miss some time injured because he always does. The great Morgan Moses PERSON coming in to the other tackle spot. John Simpson PERSON, all right, that's less exciting. But theoretically is another potential upgrade at Guard. The offensive line is what I'm saying, has been fairly significantly rebuilt in a way that should materially affect the play of Aaron Rogers and not have him running for his life for the first four snaps. He dropped back. Now, the flip side of that is they had some losses on the defensive line. They lost Bryce Huff PERSON, who was the most productive, small sample size, situational pass rush, if you like, in the NFL for the last two seasons. They lost him in free agency. They also traded away John Franklin Myers PERSON, which is a move I don't really understand for a team again that theoretically is in a win-now Super Bowl EVENT window. Why would you get rid of a player that you know is good?Brought in Hassan Reddick PERSON.

Speaker 43049.14s - 3051.64s

No, that's true. Got Will McDonald PERSON. Yeah.

Speaker 23052.24s - 3052.26s

But.

Speaker 43052.48s - 3053.56s

Brought in Javon Kinlaw PERSON.

Speaker 23053.68s - 3067.42s

This is what I'm saying, that if you, the totality, the net of the 2024 defensive line, I don't think looks as strong right now as the net of the 2023 defensive line. Very minimum, it's a watch. Yeah. And then, you know,

Speaker 43067.52s - 3099.16s

the boomer bust nature here is not only is it Tyrant Smith PERSON, who you mentioned, we'll get injured more often than not, at least a little bit, or at least have to play injured, whatever it might be. Mike Williams coming off injury at receiver, Aaron Rogers coming off injury. But if all those guys are healthy, yeah, the jets are much better. And, you know, that's a nice compliment. Mike Williams is a really nice compliment to what Garrett Wilson PERSON brings as your high volume target at receiver. And Alan Lazzard catching slants from Rogers PERSON if he's still there. I forget who made this point.

Speaker 23099.24s - 3108.92s

It might have been Will Parkinson when I was on his podcast. I was saying that one thing about the Fashnu PERSON pick that I think is really good for the Jets ORG,

Speaker 03108.92s - 3112.36s

not only is Fashnu PERSON a backup plan insurance

Speaker 23112.36s - 3124.2s

for if and when Tirent Smith PERSON inevitably gets hurt during the season. He has to play four games. Because Tiren Smith PERSON is always hurt, veteran, he doesn't practice basically anymore.

Speaker 03124.2s - 3131.98s

So you're going to get Fashnu PERSON effectively a starting set of practice reps all the way through the season

Speaker 43131.98s - 3136.44s

and have him there as insurance for if and when Tyron Smith PERSON.

Speaker 03136.98s - 3181.3s

You know, a lot of these guys that if they're not going to start, they're getting backup reps throughout the year and that's not helping them a lot, you know? So they're trying to get better based off like a smattering of reps at the end of the practice, whereas Fashnu PERSON is potentially getting all of the reps at left tackle and then just not necessarily playing until Tyrant Smith PERSON eventually gets hurt to the point where he can suit up this week.So it's actually a great landing spot for him, not just for that insurance policy, the fact that he's probably going to play some this year, but just for that insurance policy, the fact that he's probably going to play some this year, but he gets to practice probably for the entirety of the year without having to necessarily go out there. They can like seriously work on his technique, his sets, his footwork, like all the things that need cleaning up just a little bit. It's a good point.

Speaker 43181.4s - 3185s

We can fix that while we wait for him to have to get out there. It's a good point.

Speaker 23185.08s - 3186.62s

Not surprised it came from a Jets ORG podcast.

Speaker 43186.92s - 3187.12s

Right.

Speaker 23187.58s - 3187.96s

That's good.

Speaker 43188.58s - 3204.14s

I mean, look, it's optimism season. By the way, are you with me? I've declared over the last couple of years, I will endorse buy into all. Rookie minicamp, minicamp. Did you see Keon Coleman the other day?No.

Speaker 23204.4s - 3205.08s

Wide open. Wide open.

Speaker 43205.68s - 3206.36s

Wide open.

Speaker 23206.8s - 3210.06s

Wait, the rep where he just ran a post against air?

Speaker 43210.94s - 3213.14s

A little curl, a little curl. Oh, okay.

Speaker 23213.22s - 3213.6s

Against air.

Speaker 43213.72s - 3214.06s

All right, right.

Speaker 23214.08s - 3216.56s

Wide open, though. Got it. Yeah. Just saying.

Speaker 43217.74s - 3221.9s

Separation, open. Yeah. Open targets for Josh Allen. I'm here for all of it.

Speaker 23222.84s - 3225.4s

I'm only here for the bits that look impressive.

Speaker 43226s - 3227.56s

Okay, fine. If they don't look impressive.

Speaker 23227.56s - 3230.68s

Like Jamir Gibbs PERSON cooking a linebacker and one-on-ones during training camp.

Speaker 43230.68s - 3233.12s

You show me a, you show me a rep that looks amazing. I'm in.

Speaker 23233.26s - 3235.78s

You show me a rep that it looks like just a regular practice.

Speaker 43235.78s - 3236.78s

No, the on-air ones.

Speaker 23236.78s - 3250.1s

I mean, we need like the all-timer for me was Giants, Giants Twitter Jones PERSON' rookie season on a swing pass.

Speaker 43250.26s - 3251.04s

On a swing pass.

Speaker 23251.38s - 3253.32s

That was like a little high too, I think.

Speaker 43254s - 3260.68s

One thing that I saw a video of, I think it was Ladd McConkey and the Guardian ORG caps,

Speaker 23260.78s - 3273.16s

the big scrum caps on top of the helmets. Those really don't help small players. No. Because they make your head look absurdly large. And now a small player looks even smaller by comparison to his own head.

Speaker 43273.6s - 3278.52s

You look like the little alien guy on the Flintstones PERSON. A little green guy.

Speaker 23278.52s - 3280.18s

Oh, yeah, yeah. What the hell was he called?

Speaker 43280.18s - 3285.04s

Look him up. Yeah. No, I know what you mean. Gazzoo? Cazoo? Cazoo?Cazoo? What? I know who you mean, though. The Flintstoneazoo? Cazoo? Cazoo? What?

Speaker 23285.22s - 3286.64s

I know who you mean, though.

Speaker 43286.7s - 3291.8s

You're right. The Flintstone PERSON alien. Can we get a picture of the Flintstone PERSON alien guy? This is a guardian guy.

Speaker 23291.8s - 3294.54s

Eli PERSON and the booth doesn't know any word you just said.

Speaker 43294.68s - 3298.38s

He's not. The Flintstones PERSON was a. He's not aware of any of that. This was a cartoon.

Speaker 23300.24s - 3303.5s

It's a cartoon like before our time, let alone his time.

Speaker 43304.5s - 3306.5s

Like that was trailed into our time. No alone his time. It trailed into our time.

Speaker 23306.54s - 3308.3s

No, they were still showing reruns in our time.

Speaker 43308.38s - 3311.86s

But like that was, wasn't that from like the 60s or whatever? It's a gazoo. Okay.

Speaker 23312.26s - 3313.1s

With a G.

Speaker 43313.22s - 3313.68s

With a G.

Speaker 23314.1s - 3314.72s

I nailed it.

Speaker 43315.02s - 3315.2s

Yeah.

Speaker 23315.32s - 3318.86s

That's what the Guardian ORG cap guys look like.

Speaker 43318.86s - 3319.08s

Yeah.

Speaker 23319.24s - 3329.18s

But anyway, what I'm saying is the Guardian ORG cap is not friendly to already small looking human beings when they put them on because they somehow get made to look even smaller in relative to their own head.

Speaker 43329.94s - 3336.1s

Did you see that they have are, we had the Dr. Alan Sills, the NFL ORG's chief medical, whatever he is.

Speaker 23336.8s - 3338.76s

Two years in a row, we've had him on at the Super Bowl EVENT.

Speaker 43339.3s - 3339.94s

Oh, here we go.

Speaker 23339.94s - 3340.78s

There you go.

Speaker 43341.16s - 3341.18s

There he is.

Speaker 23341.18s - 3341.56s

Look at that.

Speaker 43342.28s - 3343.48s

It's the Guardian ORG accounts.

Speaker 03344.42s - 3345.92s

The original design for the guardian.

Speaker 23346s - 3349.5s

Can you quickly Photoshop Ladd McConkey's PERSON face and his number in there?

Speaker 43349.6s - 3350.84s

And then we've nailed it.

Speaker 23351.76s - 3352.74s

That's what we're here for.

Speaker 43352.9s - 3357.3s

So we had him on two years in a row of the Super Bowl EVENT talking about various things.

Speaker 23357.3s - 3361.6s

And one of the things we asked him about this year was if the guardian camps are supposedly

Speaker 43361.6s - 3365s

better for preventing concussions.

Speaker 23365.18s - 3381.32s

Why are they not now used in game? And he was like, well, you've got a trial these days. You don't know what unintended consequences might come from it. Yada, yada, yada. Gave out a long, and pretty good, actually, to be fair, explanation of why that hadn't happened. They have now been cleared and approved for use in game.

Speaker 43381.4s - 3384.74s

Great lying by Dr. Allen PERSON. I mean, that was just months before they approved it.

Speaker 23384.74s - 3403.56s

Right. But I just p-sced, all the way through the answer. I wonder, I wonder how many people are actually going to use those in game, if any. Like, because it's not like, I don't think players love those things. And yet it's like, all right, training campus. Are they putting logos on these things? How did, I don't know. I mean, it's bad for,

Speaker 43403.7s - 3405.52s

I don't want to sound like,

Speaker 23405.56s - 3410.22s

whatever, but it's bad for branding. Sure, but it also raises the question again, which keeps coming

Speaker 43410.22s - 3417.44s

up. Like, if that is a better mechanism for preventing concussion, why have we not fundamentally

Speaker 23417.44s - 3472.6s

redesigned helmets so that it's not a hard shell on the outside? Like, if that, because that's effectively a modified scrum cap, right? The thing you know as a guy that's, where's your picture? There's a man that's worn scrum caps now. You know, right? That's what it is. It's just a giant modified scrum cap that goes on over the helmet, right? But the theory appears to be that if the absorbing padding is on the outside as opposed to the inside,it's better for you than having a hard shell crack in and moving your head around. So if that's the case, why have we not fundamentally decided on a complete redesign of helmets? And you kind of come back to the answer that you hit on, which is it's an aesthetic thing. It's branding. It's harder to make a scrum cap have a Texan NORP's logo down the side of it than it is a hard shell. Like is that what's keeping us away from unscrambling the brains of NFL ORG players? It might be.

Speaker 43473.46s - 3473.8s

Okay.

Speaker 23474.7s - 3478.86s

Yeah. That would raise some questions about how much you really care about player safety.

Speaker 43479.48s - 3487.74s

And I'm over here asking about the branding and can you get a logo on those things? But yeah, it's a good point by you. Do you have anything else?

Speaker 23488.46s - 3491.38s

No, I don't even remember how we got on to that. Ladd-McConkey PERSON in a small.

Speaker 43491.64s - 3495.9s

I got off on, I got down the rabbit hole of training camp videos.

Speaker 23496.56s - 3497.62s

Mini-camp videos, yes.

Speaker 43499.82s - 3513.96s

Okay, the other other most improved team that I wanted to mention was the Atlanta Falcons ORG. Oh. Because we're going to spend this whole offseason talking about Michael Pennix Jr. in that decision and forget the fact that they're going from Desmond Ritter to Kirk Cousins PERSON at quarterback.

Speaker 33514.24s - 3514.9s

And just that.

Speaker 43515.38s - 3515.5s

Yeah.

Speaker 33515.68s - 3518.3s

And Arthur Smith's offense to Zach Robinson's PERSON offense.

Speaker 43518.86s - 3537.06s

But, yeah, just having Kirk in the building bringing in Darnell Mooney to compliment Drake London PERSON and, you know, Kyle Pitts at tight end, Charlie Warner PERSON has a blocking tight end. And again, a defense that I think is, I think they were feisty last year, feisty defense last year. So I think the Falcons ORG should be much improved.

Speaker 23537.42s - 3593.16s

No, it's a good point. The we're now, the Kirk Cousins PERSON thing is almost being viewed as this like buyer's remorse, folly, whereas actually just treat them as independent transactions. the Kirk Cousins PERSON thing is almost being viewed as this like buyer's remorse, folly, whereas actually just treat them as independent transactions. The Kirk Cousins PERSON move is what makes them favorite for this division. They just went from a team with no quarterback at all to a team that at the very minimum is getting a top 10 caliber quarterback who's gotten a really good track record of impressive quarterback play with a good situation, which is still there. Really good offensive line in front of him, really good track record of impressive quarterback play with a good situation, which is still there. Really good offensive line in front of him, really good group of receivers to throw to in totality. And remember, they added like a couple of smaller pieces as well. They added Darnal Mooney, who, you know, Bears ORG fans were talking up as like, hey, he could be the guy. And, okay, that didn't happen. But how much of that was just in fields? Like, Darnel Mooney PERSON is an interesting player to add to that. They added Rondale Moore PERSON for like a throwaway addition, right? Rondale Moore PERSON is an interesting gimmick.

Speaker 43593.4s - 3593.98s

Ray Rie McLeod PERSON.

Speaker 23594.18s - 3623.74s

Yeah, in a similar mold, albeit a wildly different body type to the Traylon Burks PERSON thing we were talking about earlier. You're the designated gimmick in this offense. And then Ray Ray McLeod PERSON from the offense that they're familiar with. Like, this is a really good offense theoretically, top to bottom, for Kirk Cousins PERSON to work in, and a good system with Zach Robinson on operating some version of the Sean McVeigh offense. That should immediately make this offense really good and enough to propel them to the top spot in that division.

Speaker 43623.94s - 3691.92s

Yeah. So that's part of the Kirk Cousins PERSON experience, which I'm not going to rehash the whole Michael Pennix Jr. conversation again for the fifth straight show. But with Kirk Cousins, relative to what they got last year, where Arthur Smith PERSON was making every time Desmond Ritter PERSON had to throw a red zone pick or, you know, was literally, you know, losing games with some of his decision making. Not that you always look at, well, last year, everything will be exactly the same, and then Kirk Cousins will just be better than Ritter, therefore the Falcons ORG will be better. But this is a drastic improvement. Cousins has been playing some of the best football of his career over the last couple of years, and I know he's coming off of an injury as well. Yeah. But that's why the Michael Pennix Jr. PERSON thing was not a buyer's remorse thing. If you are honest about yourself or to yourself and you say, two years from now, are we going to say, yeah, Kirk Cousins upgraded us, but we want a little bit more, but we're ready to move on like Washington was, like Minnesota ORG was. And in age 37, 38, whatever it is for Cousins PERSON, that's why that move is made, not because they're unhappy with what Kirk Cousins are going to bring to the table in 2024. So yeah, the Falcons ORG should be an improved team, especially offensively.

Speaker 23692.32s - 3698.9s

Yep, I agree. I mean, as long as you just treat them as independent entities

Speaker 03698.9s - 3705.38s

or independent transactions, the Kirk Cousins move was one of the single biggest off-season additions in the

Speaker 23705.38s - 3749.56s

entire NFL. Like we were talking at free agency time. There is one high level veteran quarterback available this off season. And that's Kirk Cousins. Like that's why Atlanta ORG was able to get him because they were willing to go from a contractual point of view to a place the Vikings ORG weren't. Like the Vikings ORG had nobody been willing to go and make that contract, the Vikings would have kept Kirk Cousins PERSON. They would have had him, you know, in the building for whatever compromise deal,a 35-year-old coming off an Achilles actually should get. But he's the one guy. So Atlanta was willing to go somewhere that the Vikings ORG weren't, and that's how he ends up changing teams. But that's all because Kirk Cousins was the one guy available at that kind of caliber this offseason.

Speaker 43749.98s - 3774.16s

All right. The one last team I just wanted to highlight quickly, and not because someone in the chat keeps mentioning them. But the Philadelphia Eagles are they one of the most improved teams, but for different reasons, right? They were sitting there at 10 and 1 at one point last year, going through a gauntlet of teams and beating them and then just fell apart down the stretch. They fell apart in, I mean, I don't know that I've ever seen it at the level that they did, but they were so good early on

Speaker 03774.16s - 3782.04s

that they had to go into the playoffs and they felt like the worst playoff team going in and they looked like the worst playoff team in the playoffs. But it's the offensive coordinator,

Speaker 43782.16s - 3815.22s

defensive coordinator changes. Bring it in Kell Kellan Moore instead of Brian Johnson PERSON, this offense was just not prepared for any sort of five-man rush, any sort of blitz last year. So Kellyn Moore PERSON comes in, and then Vic Fangio PERSON on the defensive side of the ball, on a defense that just kept blown coveragesand just could not figure things out. They were bringing in Matt PERSON, or giving the reins to Matt Patricia PERSON down the stretch, maybe just the coaching stability and all of the multiple years of good moves from Howie Roseman in this front office should have the Eagles ORG as a most improved team.

Speaker 23815.88s - 3825.78s

So you might be able to sell it to me in terms of that coaching overhaul. But from a roster standpoint, it's not immediately apparent to me that they're better than they were a year ago.

Speaker 43825.78s - 3830.2s

Yeah. I mean, again, if you're just saying we don't have parameters for a, whoa, what's most improved team?

Speaker 23830.24s - 3857.58s

It's our own show. We can make it up. If we're saying player for player, are they a better team than last year? Maybe not. I think that's entirely debatable because every addition you can point to is there's not necessarily a corresponding, but there's a balancing loss, right? So, oh, they added Bryce Huff PERSON. Yeah, but they lost to San Redick ORG, right? Oh, they added Sequin Barclay PERSON. Yeah, but Jason Kelsey PERSON retired.Like there's a counterweight to every one of these big moves that they made in terms of additions.

Speaker 43857.58s - 3861.52s

They did get less athletic losing Jason Kelsey and adding Seekwan Barclay PERSON. That is a good point.

Speaker 23861.6s - 3944.86s

That's true. And they added Devin White PERSON, which makes them worse if he plays. So, you know, there's some problems. Subtraction by addition. Right. Yes, the rare. The rare subtraction by addition. ButI do think, and look, the draft was outstanding, right? But because it's a draft, they're rookies. You don't necessarily know how much of an impact those guys are going to make could be amazing. Right. If they nail every one of those picks, if it's as good as as it looked that draft could propel them in a differentdirection but if they just sort of hit a baseline of rookie expectations it's probably not made them that much better but i do think you can absolutely sell me on the idea of they went from problematic on both sides of the ball in terms of coaches to good on both sides of the ball, minimum good, right, with the potential to be outstanding. I mean, Vic Fangio's PERSON system is still the current, you know, in vogue system right now, and he is the finest proponent, exponent of that defense. So theoretically, that could be an amazing unit. And Kellyn Moore PERSON, minimum, I think you're talking about a good offensive coach, and we don't quite know where he can get to in terms of what he can bring to the table with a group. So going from where they were a year ago to where they are now on the coaching side, I think is definitely one of the biggest upgrades of the offseason. But overall, you certainly can't, I don't think, make the argument just by looking at their roster. All right.

Speaker 43944.88s - 3950.18s

So we've got a call to make here. So those are your most improved teams. The other most improved teams are your favorite team.

Speaker 23951.1s - 3952.8s

Your team, they got better.

Speaker 43953.06s - 3953.14s

Okay.

Speaker 23953.34s - 3955.66s

The rookies, look, it's a big playbook.

Speaker 43956.1s - 3992.7s

Darren Rolowski did a video the other day showing how big the playbook is, how difficult it is for rookies to pick up the playbook. But your rookies, they're picking it up. They're ready to go. And they're looking sharp in rookie minicamp better than we expected. So we're happy for that, all 32 of you. Your team's looking great in rookie minicamp. Wait till the veterans get there formini camp. They're going to, I mean, they're going to be practicing football plays and ready to go. And by training camp, I mean, it's like Super Bowl EVENT or bust for all of you. So all your teams are most improved. We just highlighted a few rather than others. But it's all 32 that are better because

Speaker 13992.7s - 4000.54s

it's May. All right. Now, we could wait on the bet review and turn that into a whole different

Speaker 44000.54s - 4007.48s

show. Yeah. Because we're over now. But we have almost 900 crazy people watching us live here in mid-May.

Speaker 24007.7s - 4012.42s

I feel like you're overestimating the interest in a bet review show.

Speaker 44012.98s - 4014.6s

People want to know how the predictions went.

Speaker 24014.96s - 4015.14s

Yeah.

Speaker 44015.26s - 4016.48s

Do you want to fly through these?

Speaker 24016.86s - 4019.92s

Hammer that out now rather than trying to make a show out of it.

Speaker 44019.92s - 4021.46s

I just can't believe we just did an hour on that.

Speaker 24021.66s - 4023.26s

Two of the things we do every off-season.

Speaker 44023.44s - 4026.78s

Oh, so what we should really do is get people to, we've now reached,

Speaker 24026.94s - 4059.54s

it's May the 13th, right? We've reached off-season season. So all of the ridiculous things that we do in the off-season that you guys love, now's the time to pitch those ideas. So NFL podcast at pf.f.com, if you have an off-season content idea for us, we are willing to do the crazier the better, frankly. But we're willing to do pretty much anything. But what we do every year is we have one show for reasons for optimism, for every NFL ORG team and reasons for pessimism. Pessimism we have relatively covered.

Speaker 44060s - 4061.24s

You like doing that? You want to do that again?

Speaker 24061.34s - 4067.46s

Well, usually we bring in somebody that can do the optimistic side, right? We've done the late Austin Gale PERSON.

Speaker 44067.56s - 4074.4s

It was all about optimism. And Trevor Sycamas PERSON has been all about optimism. Was it last year you went on your trip? Yeah, I don't even remember.

Speaker 24074.68s - 4076.32s

No, it wasn't it kind of been last year, right?

Speaker 44076.42s - 4086.9s

Wasn't it last year? Wasn't it last year? I don't know. One of the years, no, maybe it's two years ago. One of the years you were just gone. Yeah.It might have been last year. You were gone for like three straight weeks.

Speaker 24087s - 4090.78s

It was really last year? And I had to fill in all the show. So I had to do optimism with Trevor

Speaker 14090.78s - 4094.94s

because he's great at being optimistic and you're not. Right. Trevor PERSON's good at optimism and

Speaker 24094.94s - 4099.44s

Austin Gale PERSON is good at optimism. Yeah, but you got him for the pessimistic show and that was like

Speaker 44099.44s - 4104.72s

the best offseason show we did three years ago. Yeah, that's true. Anyway, we'll do that.

Speaker 34105.52s - 4111.16s

We could go back to our expansion draft. We'll do our draft, build our expansion teams.

Speaker 44111.28s - 4115.28s

We'll do our draft watch-along. I need to like cut my entire team and start over.

Speaker 24115.92s - 4119.62s

Maybe. Maybe have a good draft. You're going to double up a QB this year?

Speaker 44120.56s - 4124.58s

That's a question. Are you going to, you have Bryce Young PERSON on your expansion team.

Speaker 24124.72s - 4126.28s

Yeah, that hasn't gone well.

Speaker 44126.44s - 4131.94s

Do we get the top two picks again? Were we bad? I don't know. I don't know how we predict where we select in the draft.

Speaker 24131.94s - 4134.52s

There's no way I don't end up with the number one overall.

Speaker 44134.52s - 4137.22s

You probably have the number one overall pick and you'll get Caleb Williams.

Speaker 24137.5s - 4138.18s

I'm good with that.

Speaker 44138.52s - 4143.34s

And I had C.J. Stroud on my team. Does that mean I made the playoffs and I'm picking in the 20s?

Speaker 24143.34s - 4149.54s

I don't know. But unlike the, we need, what's the guy's name? The guy are the one who's organized the whole thing, that we like defaulted to his.

Speaker 44149.54s - 4152.08s

Yeah, we'll get his, we'll get his.

Speaker 24152.08s - 4177.48s

We need him to like, to define some rules as to how we're doing this going forward. But I will not be sticking with my, like, Bryce PERSON, I'm sorry you've been, you, like Bryce Young in real life have been set up to fail quite spectacularly by the roster that was around you I am sorry for that that's that's on me I am nevertheless holding you accountable for that and going with Caleb Williams I think there's a way

Speaker 44177.48s - 4185.62s

to do if we add up the war values on every team and then just kind of like slot them in we could project a win total off that okay so there's

Speaker 24185.62s - 4192.16s

some things we can do it'll take some work who the heck wants to do that now it'll be fun all right

Speaker 44192.16s - 4197.56s

let's go through these these were your bets you have the sheet handy yeah these were your bets or

Speaker 14197.56s - 4201.9s

predictions before the see before the draft where you said these are the things that are going to

Speaker 44201.9s - 4205.48s

happen these are the things that we predict vault me these are the things that are going to happen. These are the things that we predict.

Speaker 14208.18s - 4208.22s

Volta PERSON me, these are the things that are going to happen before the draft,

Speaker 44210.82s - 4215.14s

and we accepted as bets to keep an eye on. You ready? Yep. Ryan Kinsey says Drake May will not be drafted in the first round.

Speaker 24215.44s - 4215.52s

Okay.

Speaker 44215.94s - 4228.22s

That was a loss. Ben Grethel. Just three QBs will not be taken in the first round. Oh, yeah. You lost that pretty quickly. You want to add in win and loss here while I'm reading them?

Speaker 14228.22s - 4236.52s

Your sheet doesn't work. What? Your sheet doesn't work it. What did I do? You broke it. Where did it go?

Speaker 44237.44s - 4240.72s

There we go. Is that the right link that I say? Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 24240.72s - 4245.56s

It's the right link. It's just not that it's not automated the way it is on my sheet.

Speaker 44248.56s - 4248.7s

Oh, yeah, I didn't automate. I don't think I'd set up automations or anything on it.

Speaker 24250.56s - 4250.62s

I just typed in loss on the first one.

Speaker 44254.42s - 4257.82s

Yeah, one of mine, if I click loss, it automatically tallies it for us. Well, you gave up on it, so. Yeah, I don't have the automatic talent.

Speaker 24257.82s - 4258.78s

You could have just copied the sheet.

Speaker 44260.74s - 4266.48s

Either way, Ben, Ben owes us double Kirkland coffee, I guess, for predicting three QBs in the first round.

Speaker 24266.64s - 4267.72s

Jonas Leon PERSON.

Speaker 44268.32s - 4271.76s

Jonas Leon, three QBs in the first round. Same prediction.

Speaker 24272s - 4282.06s

You're going to lose that. Yeah, a lot of people were predicting a sort of anti-quarterback run, you know, a version of the 2020. No, 21.

Speaker 44282.4s - 4289.2s

22 draft. Kenny Pickett being the last rounder. Yeah, yeah. The Kenny Pickett year where it's like none of these guys. Or last year where there was three QBs and then Levis fell.

Speaker 24289.44s - 4289.6s

Right.

Speaker 44291.12s - 4305.74s

Philly Joe PERSON, wait, did I do? Graham Hackney PERSON was wrong. Said there'll be a running back taken in the first round. Yep. Wrong. Philly Joe PERSON, calling my shot now, cornerback Wiggins for Howie PERSON. He almost kind of got screwed by Quinnion Mitchell's PERSON fall. Right. Right. Yeah.

Speaker 04305.74s - 4308.8s

Because it could have been true. Could have been true. But it did not happen.

Speaker 44308.84s - 4315.86s

We haven't lost a bet yet. Ryan Euler, like to wager that only three wide receivers are drafted in the first round.

Speaker 04315.94s - 4316.96s

That did not happen as well.

Speaker 44318.3s - 4339.98s

Josh Smith predicted the chargers taken to Lisa Fawaga, whether they trade the pick or stay at five. No, they took Joe Walt PERSON. Josh Smith PERSON also had a really fun one. The Saints and Broncos swapping first-round picks. Sean Payton PERSON will call and trade and none of this happened. Sean Payton PERSON was going to trade up for an offensive tackle or something. Is that right? But they didn't.

Speaker 14340.18s - 4340.38s

Yeah.

Speaker 44341.12s - 4351.22s

Cole Novak said barring landing spot, Taj Washington and Javon Baker will have better rookie seasons than either Texas ORG rookie wide receiver. We do not have enough information yet. We need football to be played for this.

Speaker 14351.52s - 4352.2s

Yeah, we do.

Speaker 44352.92s - 4366.08s

Sean Smollett's has Peyton Wilson selected in the first round. Nope. False. Did not happen here. Alex Montenegro, the overhyped J.J. McCarthy PERSON will not be drafted in the first round.

Speaker 24366.08s - 4367.66s

And that means we get exploding whales gear.

Speaker 44368.08s - 4375.12s

Yes, that's right. An NFL ORG team fails to submit their draft selection. Neither one happened. Exploding Wales gear. Send it over, Alex PERSON. Nice.

Speaker 24376.02s - 4378.44s

Nobody won anything yet. You know what I've discovered?

Speaker 44379.12s - 4386.98s

Oh, here we go. Here's a winner. You know, I've discovered since going bald? What? Your real head size rather than one with hair.

Speaker 24387.52s - 4401.58s

Your hair, turns out, takes up a surprising amount of the cap room, right? That's correct. When there is no hair, there's like a gap here that does, like your, the thing sits up in space above your head in a way that's not pleasant.

Speaker 04401.78s - 4411.46s

So you need to find like a, apparently, I Google this recently, right? There is a thing called a low profile cap, which apparently like removes the hair room. You lose the netting.

Speaker 24411.76s - 4416.84s

You lose the, you lose the, you just lose like a, like a centimeter or two of space up here,

Speaker 44417.22s - 4420s

which is where the hair sits. What's your head size? Like a six?

Speaker 24420.82s - 4437.68s

It was like a, it was like a reasonable size when it had hair. Now I don't know what it is but it doesn't fit most caps is what I'm saying so apparently you need a low so what I'm saying isstick with a t-shirt with the exploding whale here because the cap caps she's not gonna

Speaker 44437.68s - 4438.8s

she's not gonna work

Speaker 04438.8s - 4440.36s

normal exploding whales cap

Speaker 44440.36s - 4450.56s

I can no longer I'm one of these people that needs like custom head gear now because the stupid caps don't sit on my small bald head. These are the things you learn when you don't have

Speaker 04450.56s - 4455.26s

hair. I mean, when I grew my hair out, I learned so I need more hat. Yeah. I need bigger hat.

Speaker 24455.66s - 4459.86s

Now, you'll learn this once it keeps, you know, once the hair retreats far enough.

Speaker 44460.42s - 4466.2s

You got some years here. All right. Jacob Laid PERSON, we have a winner here. He predicted a run on QBs, wide receivers,

Speaker 24466.34s - 4467.96s

offensive tackles, and a tight end.

Speaker 44468.62s - 4470.9s

So the first 12 picks will be offensive players.

Speaker 24470.9s - 4471.5s

Good call.

Speaker 44471.56s - 4472.26s

That was all correct.

Speaker 24473.02s - 4474.38s

And he went as far as 12, yeah.

Speaker 44474.48s - 4480.02s

He said 12. Other people said 10. So there are some other winners that are in here. Usually, if you predicted offensive players.

Speaker 24480.08s - 4480.22s

Yep.

Speaker 14480.68s - 4482.74s

This one we won't know until football's played.

Speaker 24482.74s - 4487.48s

This Declan O'Neill PERSON predicting that Brian Thomas Jr. will be top two in the class's first year in war. Okay.

Speaker 44488.24s - 4491.08s

Thomas McCann, the past two years he predicted.

Speaker 14491.54s - 4496.74s

He's predicting at least five first round quarterbacks and seven in the first two rounds.

Speaker 44496.86s - 4510.38s

Now, this is a tough one. We had six in round one, zero in round two. And he said, and. He said, and not or. And he said, and. He said, and, not or. And. That's rough. Not or.

Speaker 24510.52s - 4512.02s

Thought yourself out of it with the last.

Speaker 44512.18s - 4517.02s

So he said five in the first round, winner and seven in the second round, loser.

Speaker 24518.42s - 4520.08s

However, I did add a comment here.

Speaker 44520.14s - 4521.9s

He thanked us for our offseason rambles.

Speaker 24522.44s - 4523.24s

And I feel like maybe we could.

Speaker 44523.24s - 4525.76s

I feel like given that we only had one so far, we can just call that a winner. Well, yeah, because he was nice to us and hisles. And I feel like maybe we could... I feel like given that we've only had one so far.

Speaker 24525.96s - 4526.26s

We can just...

Speaker 44526.26s - 4527.7s

We'll call that a winner. Well, yeah.

Speaker 24527.7s - 4528.94s

Because he was nice to us in his email.

Speaker 44528.94s - 4550.42s

It's our show and we cheat. So let's... We could do that. We could do that. We could call him a win. Rachel B., misses this one, says that Joe Alt will not be among the first two offensive tackle selected. This one was close. Wyatt Charter says Jalen Polk will be drafted ahead of Ladd-McConkey PERSON. That just missed.

Speaker 24550.48s - 4551.16s

How close was that?

Speaker 44551.58s - 4552.24s

Like two picks.

Speaker 24552.38s - 4558.8s

33 versus 35. Let me just confirm that, but the Chargers did select him ahead of Polk PERSON, right?

Speaker 44558.88s - 4559.68s

Yeah, yeah, definitely.

Speaker 24560.44s - 4561.74s

Because the Patriots ORG traded down.

Speaker 44562.28s - 4563.12s

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 24563.12s - 4568.8s

Because Ladd-McConkey was one of the receivers that went between in the bills trading down mess, right?

Speaker 44568.92s - 4576.54s

So he went at 33, right, the top of the second? Yes. And then Polk went somewhere in the 30s. So just missed on that one.

Speaker 24576.54s - 4581.94s

But they both went, let me just get the, it just happened many weeks ago.

Speaker 44582.14s - 4582.28s

Yeah.

Speaker 24582.64s - 4583.34s

Tough to remember.

Speaker 44584s - 4585.8s

Ladd-McConkie went at 34.

Speaker 24586.08s - 4587.24s

Polk went at 37.

Speaker 44587.54s - 4587.74s

Okay.

Speaker 24588.1s - 4589.8s

So that is a...

Speaker 44589.8s - 4597.86s

It's a loss. It is. By the rules. Teddy predicted that the Dolphins will draft a wide receiver on day one.

Speaker 24598s - 4598.78s

Not your son, right?

Speaker 44598.9s - 4599.4s

Not my son.

Speaker 24599.52s - 4600.96s

Well, I don't know. He may have. I don't know.

Speaker 44601.72s - 4616.2s

So you got that kind of unrestricted internet access? It could have been him. This was the cryptic one from Brian Poles PERSON. Yeah. About the Chicago Bears pick swapping their ninth pick with the Cowboys ORG. And trading a Cowboys ORG veteran.

Speaker 24616.2s - 4621.48s

This is the guy that suggested inside information that if he had it was wrong. Don't ask me how I know this.

Speaker 44621.52s - 4624.46s

Yes. Well, you didn't know it, so I'm not going to ask.

Speaker 24624.58s - 4628.38s

We might have known it, but whoever told him was wrong. It didn't happen. It just didn't happen.

Speaker 44629.24s - 4636.06s

Mark Mercer predicted that Mike Sanristel, little Mikey PERSON, was going to get drafted in the first round. Did not happen.

Speaker 34636.06s - 4639s

Little Mikey PERSON. Second rounder for the Washington GPE commanders.

Speaker 44641.5s - 4647.08s

Mark Treasurer says the Cardinals ended up taking at least three players in this first round. They only took their two.

Speaker 24647.28s - 4649.98s

They only took their two allotted first rounders. Which means we win coffee.

Speaker 44650.06s - 4652.56s

Some London coffee. Is that from Mark Treasurer PERSON?

Speaker 24652.66s - 4653.74s

What is London coffee?

Speaker 44654.32s - 4655.5s

It just means it's from London.

Speaker 24656.76s - 4660.4s

I think he's in London. He's going to send us something from. Okay. Because they don't grow.

Speaker 44660.4s - 4666.62s

It's a city in England GPE. I know that, but they don't grow coffee in London. You know, it's not a coffee. A London-based company.

Speaker 24667.04s - 4667.72s

Okay. Or something.

Speaker 44668.3s - 4670.46s

Don't they have some colonies or something that grow coffee for them?

Speaker 24670.48s - 4680.3s

They certainly did, yeah. I don't know how many they've got now. I think there were some things that happened that, you know, reduce the footprint of the British Empire GPE. All right.

Speaker 44680.86s - 4689.48s

Philip Erickson predicted three centers will go round one. Three centers will go in round one that did not happen because Zach Frazier did fall to the second round.

Speaker 24689.48s - 4696.32s

And that was assuming Graham Barton PERSON. That was giving Graham Barton declared a center, which he did. So Graham Barton was the only center. Yeah.

Speaker 44696.62s - 4699.64s

drafted the first round. J.P.J. and Frazier went in the second round. Correct.

Speaker 34705.78s - 4709.28s

Joe Lasky was leaning into the top golf test that Michael Pennix Jr. PERSON was going to get picked by the commanders,

Speaker 44710.62s - 4712.64s

potentially at number two, potentially trading.

Speaker 24712.76s - 4741.84s

So this is interesting because, okay, the exact, the specifics he went with are wrong, right? His hot take prediction is that Michael Pennix would get picked by the commanders because, but his reasoning is because he dominated the top golf test. And as we know, looking back at the last 25 drafts, the top golf test is clearly the best indicator of quarterback performance. Now, I'm almost inclined to give him credit for that because, okay, he didn't get drafted at two to the commanders. He did, however, get drafted in the top 10

Speaker 44741.84s - 4751.88s

when nobody saw that coming. To give him credit, we would have to go speak to our friends in the industry and say, look, Falcons ORG, who picked him.

Speaker 14752.36s - 4759s

Did the reports coming out of Top Golf ORG have any influence whatsoever on your decision?

Speaker 44759s - 4760.3s

We should definitely ask that question.

Speaker 24760.64s - 4766.44s

And would you be willing to disseminate that information on our show? Now, one more

Speaker 44766.44s - 4782.88s

thing I haven't broached yet is prior to the draft, Zach PERSON suggested that he could, you know, join the show. Yeah. We need to get Zach PERSON in the show. After the draft, however, I wonder if the Falcons ORG could be like, we just had, we just don't want to do PR anymore. We just did something pretty bold

Speaker 24782.88s - 4787.44s

here. I don't think we need to talk about it anymore. I think we want to control the message from the top, you know?

Speaker 44787.44s - 4793.28s

I think Zach PERSON would know that on this show, he could expect some, I'm not going to say that we

Speaker 24793.28s - 4810.6s

would compromise our journalistic integrity, but there may be a softball pitcher to. Are we journalists? I mean, I have a master's degree WORK_OF_ART in journalism. I don't. I am a qualified journalist. I'm a tremendously qualified journalist, in fact. Good for you. Don't do any journalism, but I'm very qualified.

Speaker 44810.6s - 4818.14s

This is your big opportunity. You broke that news that one time about the Irish NORP guys, didn't you? Can you break some news or something? I don't know.

Speaker 24818.24s - 4823.28s

They're all trying out this weekend. It's like rookie minicamps and stuff. So one guy, Charlie Smith PERSON...

Speaker 44823.28s - 4830.12s

You're reporting on that. Charlie Smith was signed, actually signed, to the New Orleans Saints a few weeks ago.

Speaker 24830.12s - 4835.1s

But a couple of the other guys were in triouts this weekend.

Speaker 04835.34s - 4838.64s

Mark Jackson, I think, was the guy that was with the Steelers, Rory Began PERSON.

Speaker 44838.82s - 4849.5s

I think it was with Carolina Panthers ORG. So multiple of those IPP guys, the kickers, have been on active tryouts this weekend. It's good.

Speaker 24849.84s - 4854.66s

And it's funny. So the Lewis Re-Zamett PERSON thing, the Welsh rugby player with the Chiefs ORG.

Speaker 44854.66s - 4857.22s

I didn't even think of him for most improved. Like, the Chiefs ORG are way better.

Speaker 24857.3s - 4910.88s

I know, right? He is now a fascinating nexus of ignorance on both sides, right? So you've got all the football people that don't even know that Wales is on both sides, right? So you've got all the football people that don't even know that Wales is like a country, right? There was apparently, I didn't find, I couldn't find the actual document. I could only find the quote graphic, but somebody had claimed apparently that Lewis Rezammett was the best rugby player that the city of Wales has ever produced, you know, which is wrong in every way, not just the fact that Wales is in the city, at least not in Wales. It's a city, I think, in several places in the U.S. GPE, but it's a country. Number two, he's not even close to being the best player than Wales has ever produced. Anyway, so you've got the Americans who know nothing about Wales, rugby, or him, right? And then he's got the Welsh people who know nothing about American NORP football. Then he's just just firing ignorance across the Atlantic in both directions. It's fascinating. You know both. Yeah.

Speaker 44911.32s - 4912.36s

And nobody's talking to me.

Speaker 24912.44s - 4914.68s

Expert in American football and the British Isles LOC.

Speaker 44914.98s - 4915.2s

Uh-huh.

Speaker 24915.2s - 4915.66s

So you know.

Speaker 44915.68s - 4919.58s

Yeah. Also. And nobody's coming to me for any information. I'm also a British Isle LOC expert.

Speaker 24919.64s - 4921.98s

Except on this show. You are. You've seen a map and everything.

Speaker 44922.18s - 4924.94s

Yeah. I know how you feel about Wales. I know all about it.

Speaker 24926.18s - 4932.08s

All right. So Joe PERSON. So we're not giving giving we can't give him credit no but i'll tell you this if we tip of the cap

Speaker 44932.08s - 4938.76s

for getting something if we dig and find inside information about top golf having any influence on the falcons

Speaker 24938.76s - 4944.06s

we will rect respectively we will send joe an email and give him a pff plus even if we can't announce it on air

Speaker 44944.06s - 4945.52s

okay give you my word.

Speaker 24946.42s - 4949.34s

I'm not saying I'm going to try to track down this inside information, but if it comes up.

Speaker 44950.04s - 4951.46s

If it comes up a conversation.

Speaker 24951.58s - 4952.1s

Check with Zach PERSON.

Speaker 44952.3s - 4952.6s

There we go.

Speaker 24952.64s - 4952.96s

There we go.

Speaker 44954.8s - 4959.48s

Jacob Smith, a bet a coffee that the Patriots trade down from three and later trade up for a quarterback. Well, we know that didn't happen.

Speaker 24959.68s - 4959.96s

We do.

Speaker 44960.12s - 4967.56s

That did not happen. Tim Allen, Toolman comes up with 10 picks in this year's draft.

Speaker 24967.6s - 4968.26s

You're going to be on offense.

Speaker 44968.38s - 4972.48s

If it's the real toolman, it feels like he could do better than coffee.

Speaker 24973.4s - 4974.56s

Yeah, and that's kind of sad.

Speaker 44974.66s - 4977.96s

He had Tacoma Camp Fire Coffee PRODUCT on the line here,

Speaker 24978.44s - 4980.3s

and we're not going to win that because Tim PERSON wins.

Speaker 44980.7s - 4981.42s

He's going to win a PFF.

Speaker 24981.42s - 4982.76s

But it feels like it was the real toolman.

Speaker 44982.84s - 4984.46s

He could, like, offer us a muscle car or something.

Speaker 24985.46s - 4987.26s

He could get us to some Lions ORG games or something.

Speaker 44987.38s - 4988s

That too, yeah.

Speaker 24988.1s - 4992.38s

I was watching a little old home improvement show the other day.

Speaker 44992.42s - 4992.62s

Oh, yeah?

Speaker 24994.02s - 4995.3s

On the, I don't.

Speaker 44995.42s - 4995.8s

It's a good show.

Speaker 24995.96s - 4996.9s

Yeah, it's a great show.

Speaker 44996.98s - 4997.4s

It was a good one.

Speaker 24997.4s - 5001.2s

It was actually, it was on like the Roku PRODUCT channel.

Speaker 45001.7s - 5001.86s

Okay.

Speaker 25001.9s - 5003.18s

They're just showing some old, I don't know.

Speaker 45003.18s - 5009.88s

I was clicking through. It was on. And it was a Thanksgiving episode where he got to go to the luxury box at the Silver Dome at the Lions ORG game.

Speaker 05010.24s - 5012.34s

And then you blew the circuit

Speaker 45012.34s - 5025.22s

and the whole thing, the lights went out. Yep. And then Rodney Dangerfield PERSON showed up. It was a great episode. Great episode. Toward the end of their run there at home improvement. So appreciate the toolman listening. Zach Gelfand says the Bears ORG will trade up for Marvin Harrison Jr.

Speaker 25025.76s - 5028.38s

Oh, this is our gift card to the brewery place.

Speaker 45028.48s - 5038.76s

Oh, yes. So now we have to go to Chicago ORG. Nice. Good job losing that, Zach. So we'll go $500 gift card to Tonality ORG brewing.

Speaker 25038.94s - 5040.1s

It's Google ORG this place. What's the like?

Speaker 45040.72s - 5058.86s

So we're going to go to Chicago land. It's 20 minutes. We're going to have to make a trip. Menu. So we're going to go to Chicago land. It's 20 minutes. We're going to have to make a trip. Menu. How about for the schedule release on Wednesday? If the Bears are hosting a Thursday night game, that would be good.We can go on a Thursday night game, make a little trip. That would be good.

Speaker 25060.08s - 5065.04s

That's a really good idea. Did the Bears host Thursday night football last year? Finally, for the first time ever, I'm interested in the schedule.

Speaker 45065.92s - 5067.54s

See, this is why people do schedule releases.

Speaker 25067.82s - 5073.12s

How many Thursday games can we go to? You know, that's big. I don't know. So I'm excited about that.

Speaker 45076.3s - 5100.74s

LeVon Myers. Now, I brought this one up on the show because it was in play. His bet was that A.D. Mitchell was the 23rd overall pick, regardless of what team was picking there. And the Jags had traded down to 23 and did pick a receiver. It happened to be Brian Thomas Jr. But I loved the boldness of this.Of course, A.D. Mitchell fell to pick 45, I believe it was with the Colts ORG. Levon Myers PERSON, by the way. So that's a loss. He left yourself a note.

Speaker 25101.1s - 5101.18s

Yeah.

Speaker 45101.32s - 5102.98s

Because I said Levant PERSON.

Speaker 25103.14s - 5103.9s

And still screwed it up.

Speaker 45104.1s - 5104.44s

Instinctively.

Speaker 25104.74s - 5106.1s

But then I saw the note that said Levant PERSON.

Speaker 45108.1s - 5108.88s

Not a journalist.

Speaker 25109.02s - 5109.76s

I tell you all the truth.

Speaker 45109.88s - 5110.7s

No, you're not stop.

Speaker 25110.82s - 5111.18s

That's not.

Speaker 45111.7s - 5114.16s

That's the opposite of journalistic integrity.

Speaker 25114.5s - 5118.44s

Your only qualification is in baseball. What did you actually, what's your degree in?

Speaker 45119.32s - 5133.74s

Management information systems and finance. Huh. So basically, uh, what is that? It's basically like what I'm doing, product managing. It was like a funny,it was a complex term for product managing back in the early 2000s. Got it.

Speaker 15133.98s - 5134.22s

Okay.

Speaker 45134.52s - 5150.58s

So IT management basically, and then finance. Double major. Wow. So it was a double, it's a business degreewith a double concentration. So it sounds like a double major. I did two things, but it's really. All you had to do is like take the right.

Speaker 25150.86s - 5160.1s

So you're qualified. You're qualified to operate. Really, you're qualified to be a professional baseball player and an operator's your own agent. Yeah.

Speaker 45160.4s - 5162.34s

Maybe you run the cap for some teams and everything.

Speaker 25162.44s - 5170s

You can do it all. Basically GM. Yeah, I guess. For baseball or football teams and everything. You can do it. Basically, GM. Yeah, I guess. For baseball or football. Right. Given my history.Well, now, yeah.

Speaker 45170.08s - 5171.5s

But in terms of like qualification.

Speaker 25171.62s - 5172.16s

We should double up.

Speaker 45173.16s - 5173.36s

Just the baseball.

Speaker 25173.36s - 5174.78s

Another really quick aside.

Speaker 45175.64s - 5180.94s

I'm not even going to get into it. No, but so I watch old baseball games in the background every now.

Speaker 25181s - 5187.66s

Along with the old football games and the old draft games. Old drafts. They were talking about, I mean, I, I, I, I forgot, old baseball drafts as well. Is that fun?

Speaker 45187.76s - 5189.74s

Baseball drafts, no, they're horrible. They're horrible.

Speaker 25190.44s - 5190.54s

Yeah.

Speaker 45190.66s - 5205.32s

No, there's no baseball drafts. Right. Actually, I heard this somewhere else, but apparently in like the late 80s and early 90s, there was an executive for the Braves ORG. So he did baseball and basketball. He was like GM of the Hawks ORG,

Speaker 25205.52s - 5207.62s

but also vice president of the Braves ORG.

Speaker 45207.74s - 5264.64s

Like something ridiculous. And I'm just like, was the job that easy back then that you could just double up? It's the offseason for baseball. I think I'll just run the Hawks ORG. Maybe he was just the Dion Sanders PERSON of GMing.I looked into it further. I don't think he was making, I think he was like real GM for the Braves and then like just kind of an executive above the GM, but not making the day to day with the Hawks ORG or vice versa, whatever it was. But it sounded like an awesome thing to just literally be able to run a couple different teams. Sure. You know, I could do that, is what I'm saying. All right, coffee and donuts for the office versus subscription that says, Jaden Daniels would be the fourth quarterback drafted. We know that didn't happen. So we win coffee and donuts. Cedar combo? It's going to have to send us coffee and donuts to the office. And the last one is Bobby Lloyd, the lion's first pick in the draft will be a quarterback. Hashtag VaultMe PRODUCT.That was from the VaultMe PRODUCT. Hashtag on Twitter ORG. So that was also a loss.

Speaker 25266.26s - 5279.86s

So the only wins were really offensive players getting drafted. That was it. We literally only lost the ones for the offensive run at the top of that draft, right? So we were something in two. Our listeners were two and a lot.

Speaker 45279.92s - 5285.84s

And we've got two to be determined. We've got two that still need football to be played for us to get ourselves.

Speaker 25285.84s - 5287.62s

Yeah, a couple need football to be played.

Speaker 45287.94s - 5292.64s

Both white and then one potentially pending if we learn more about top golf and Michael

Speaker 25292.64s - 5293.08s

Pennix Jr.

Speaker 45293.2s - 5294s

Yes, right.

Speaker 25294.74s - 5298s

We're calling that a lot unless we get new evidence servicing.

Speaker 45298.6s - 5317.68s

That was fun. That's, you know, again, for all those people, worst mock draft ever, you know, you guys don't know what you're talking about. It's not that know, again, for all those people, worst mock draft ever, you know, you guys don't know what you're talking about. It's not that easy, is it? Making predictions for the draft. It's not that easy.Yeah, you're right. That probably could have been its own show. Got anything else for today?

Speaker 25318.68s - 5321.24s

You got a good crowd here on a Monday morning in mid-May.

Speaker 05321.94s - 5322.22s

Yeah.

Speaker 25322.38s - 5327.22s

We hit the breaking news. We hit the bets. We hit the most improved teams.

Speaker 45327.62s - 5334.04s

Do you want to do any sort of rookie minicamp interpretation of quotes and things that have come out? For instance. Do you have any?

Speaker 25334.88s - 5335.76s

Gerard Mayo's PERSON.

Speaker 45336.38s - 5336.64s

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 25336.68s - 5345.06s

He said Drake May PERSON is terrible, right? That's how we do this. That's what he said, yeah. Got a lot to work on, I think was the quote, right? Yeah. After practice, one. Yeah. Which to work on, I think, was the quote, right? Yeah.

Speaker 45345.18s - 5346.08s

After practice, one.

Speaker 25346.18s - 5346.38s

Yeah.

Speaker 45346.94s - 5347.54s

Which means he's terrible.

Speaker 25348.54s - 5353.46s

I imagine he just, like, doesn't know how to, like, take a snap under center or something like that, right?

Speaker 45353.76s - 5354.72s

We just don't know the plays.

Speaker 25355.1s - 5355.3s

Yeah.

Speaker 45357.24s - 5358.66s

Is there any sort of alarm?

Speaker 25359.82s - 5360.6s

So that's the thing.

Speaker 45360.72s - 5362.14s

Like, do we overreact to that?

Speaker 15362.28s - 5363.46s

Drake May PERSON has a lot to work on.

Speaker 45364.22s - 5377s

We don't know what Gerard Mayo PERSON, I don't want to say our friends, but, you know, person that follows me that I follow that we've given shoutouts before, CoachSpeak Index, they do, that's the official, right?

Speaker 25377.38s - 5378.58s

What's his translation of,

Speaker 45378.88s - 5422.86s

so I don't think they have it. So the CoachSpeak Index PRODUCT does a really cool, they do a really cool thing. Is that the official? Yeah, the coach, at CoachSpeak Index. a really cool. They do a really cool thing. Is that the official? Yeah, at CoachSpeak Index. And they do this cool thing.Well, they take all the coach quotes and then go back through the history of their quotes. And if it's like Andy Reid's PERSON like, oh, this running back's great. He's taking all the reps. He's going to get some time. They'll be like, oh, Andy Reid PERSON always tells the truth on this or he lies or whatever it might be. So Gerard Mayo is a first time head coach. So we don't know yet. But this is just more data, right? Like when he says Drake Mays PERSON got a lot to work on and Drake Mays PERSON over here, you know, not knowing the plays and getting sacked and missing protections at the beginning of the season, we're going to say, oh, Gerard Mayo PERSON tells the truth. Or maybe Gerard Mayo PERSON is just, you know, never positive about his quarterback.

Speaker 25424.02s - 5426.94s

Even though. He's a defensive guy. Why would he talk up to quarterback?

Speaker 45427.16s - 5439.08s

Mayo PERSON's been, it seems like a truth teller, though, so far. It seems like he's been trying to, you know, go the opposite of Bill Belichick and give more information than is needed. You know, I'm assuming that there was some playbook issues.

Speaker 05440.32s - 5443.86s

I think a lot of work to do after one day of minicamp doesn't mean the dude can't

Speaker 25443.86s - 5444.12s

throw.

Speaker 05444.66s - 5447.16s

It means, like, the guy doesn't know

Speaker 25447.16s - 5448.34s

where people are lining up yet.

Speaker 05449.58s - 5453.1s

And then Drake May and Jalen Polk are at the Bruins ORG game.

Speaker 45454.38s - 5455.82s

They go to the hockey game.

Speaker 15456.58s - 5457.72s

Yeah, the first two picks.

Speaker 45457.88s - 5458.04s

Okay.

Speaker 15458.72s - 5459.84s

Like shouldn't they be in their playbook?

Speaker 45459.96s - 5465.86s

What's going on? Yeah. You have a lot of work to do when you're going to a hockey game. Just saying it's a bad star for Drake Bay GPE.

Speaker 25465.92s - 5472.26s

Let's overreact. Isn't that a good thing? They're already, you know, already teaming up together. Like they're in each other's hip pockets.

Speaker 45472.4s - 5474.52s

That's a good thing. Not if they can't even line up properly.

Speaker 25474.52s - 5483.98s

Like when Malachi Corley is staying in Aaron Rogers guest house or whatever. That's perfect.

Speaker 45485.18s - 5486.86s

That's a good start. That's a good start.

Speaker 25486.92s - 5488.56s

I forget who it was, but one of the...

Speaker 45488.56s - 5491.36s

You were already being attacked by Jets ORG fans, by the way, saying that they're worse.

Speaker 25491.8s - 5492.94s

What? I didn't say they're worse.

Speaker 45493.02s - 5494.4s

He said they're better. Already being attacked.

Speaker 25495.04s - 5501.82s

I literally raised them as a potential most improved team for the Aaron Rogers thing.

Speaker 45502.92s - 5505.44s

Other than Rogers PERSON, they got worse.

Speaker 25505.94s - 5507.3s

I said they might have gotten worse.

Speaker 45508.14s - 5510.38s

Two through 53 on the roster.

Speaker 25510.62s - 5513.84s

I think you could easily argue is worse now than it was 12 months ago.

Speaker 45514.06s - 5514.56s

Good hedge.

Speaker 25514.9s - 5519.94s

Anyway, my point being, hey, they were getting a lot of credit.

Speaker 45520.02s - 5520.68s

That's going to help him.

Speaker 25520.88s - 5523.82s

It's going to help Corley out amazingly being that close to Aaron Rogers.

Speaker 45523.92s - 5524.7s

I forget who it was.

Speaker 25524.7s - 5541.24s

Some former Packers wide receiver that wasn't one of the two that he loves and brings with him everywhere. They were like, I never got offered that. That would have helped a lot if I'd been at Aaron Rogers' PERSON pool house or whatever. Didn't happen to me. So, you know, what you're saying?

Speaker 45542.34s - 5552.32s

Polk and Drake May PERSON being together, I think that's a good thing, not bad. You think it's good that they went to the hockey game? Yes, together. When Drake May PERSON has a lot of, a lot to work on things, the hockey game. How do you know?

Speaker 25552.82s - 5557.96s

What if they're, like, pitching each other play calls quietly, you know, testing each other.

Speaker 45558.06s - 5561.7s

In the limo over there, maybe they're got to get in the playbook, man.

Speaker 25561.9s - 5572.8s

Even just while they're sitting there, right? You know, the game's going on in front of you, and one of them's like, what do you do versus press coverage? You know, they just hit asking questions. You can take it deep. You could convert to a go.

Speaker 45573.02s - 5573.24s

Right.

Speaker 25574.18s - 5574.76s

I don't know.

Speaker 45574.8s - 5578.08s

Do you see anything that's worth overreacting to?

Speaker 25578.9s - 5591.52s

I saw a video of J.J. McCarthy failing to throw the ball to a coach that was standing about 15 yards away from him. So that means he stinks too. Oh, boy. What happened? He tried to throw it to him?

Speaker 45591.76s - 5595.68s

He just, yeah, it was just like warming up or whatever and threw the ball to the guy 15 feet away.

Speaker 25595.74s - 5598.72s

And the guy had to make an adjustment that because he's a coach, he wasn't able to make.

Speaker 45598.96s - 5601.66s

Now, it was, you know, I heard here, but like it wasn't good.

Speaker 25602.28s - 5604.9s

That was like when Hakenberg PERSON hit the cameraman with a pass.

Speaker 45606.24s - 5609.06s

And yeah, it could have been a miscommunication.

Speaker 25609.24s - 5611s

Like there's zero contacts around this.

Speaker 45611.04s - 5611.58s

We're like, see?

Speaker 25611.94s - 5612.58s

Inaccurate.

Speaker 45612.78s - 5613s

Drake PERSON.

Speaker 25613.56s - 5620.76s

The Hagenberg PERSON thing, Hagenberg PERSON has one of the funniest low light reels of all time, you know? Just all the sort of like,

Speaker 45620.76s - 5636.58s

you know that the video that surfaces every year. You remember when the ball just fell out of tibbo PERSON's hand and it's like this i was going to bring that horrific wobbling duck that then falls under the ground and the camera follows it as it like dribbles off the field and i think at the bottom end of

Speaker 25636.58s - 5677.12s

it like the back end of the video whoever was filming it is like what the hell was that like it's and it's one of those videos where, okay, it's completely absent of context and clearly it wasn't, it's not like it's a fair indication of Tim Tebow's baseline of throwing a football. It is, however, a perfect caricature of Tim Tebow PERSON as a quarterback. So Hackenberg PERSON is similar where obviously every throw of Hackenberg like throwing a screeninto the floor is not a fair representation of the average Christian Hakenberg PERSON throw. It is, however, a perfect caricature of Christian Hakenberg as an NFL ORG player, i.e. terrible.

Speaker 45678.56s - 5682.86s

Tim Tebow PERSON has maybe the worst throwing highlight of all time

Speaker 25682.86s - 5686.82s

and the worst blocking highlight of all time.

Speaker 15687.06s - 5687.46s

Yes.

Speaker 45688.14s - 5688.88s

One is a quarterback.

Speaker 25689.02s - 5689.62s

One is a tight ends.

Speaker 45689.7s - 5690.34s

That's impressive.

Speaker 25690.72s - 5699.12s

And a perfect playoff game winning throw to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers ORG in overtime.

Speaker 45699.5s - 5726.28s

And let me just double check this because I'm pretty sure he has a lower AAA batting average than me. So we just want to confirm that. Wasn't he quite good at hitting? He did well in AA ORG, I believe. Oh yeah, so hit223 in his career. He hit 273 his one year in AA ORG. And in AAA ORG, he hit 163. I hit 250 in AAA ORG.Okay.

Speaker 15726.82s - 5729.32s

So, yeah, he has a lower AAA ORG batting average than me.

Speaker 45729.8s - 5751.18s

I will say hitting 223 in his career in the minors, starting at age 28, is impressive. I used to give Michael Jordan PERSON credit for this. People laughed at Michael Jordan's PERSON baseball career. Yeah. But to step in in AA as Michael Jordan PERSON didand hit about 200 as he did is really impressive. To just be able to step in in AA as Michael Jordan did and hit about 200 as he did is really impressive to just be able to step in and face professional pitching like that.

Speaker 15751.3s - 5751.52s

Sure.

Speaker 45751.94s - 5762.96s

So Tebow finished hitting 223, on base percentage, just under 300. That's not good relative to other minor league players. It's good for a former quarterback slash tight end though. Yeah.

Speaker 25763s - 5767.28s

It's good for him. He may have been a better baseball player than he was a football player.

Speaker 45768.32s - 5769.56s

No, I wouldn't go that far.

Speaker 25769.9s - 5770.26s

I don't know.

Speaker 45770.38s - 5771.1s

I mean, well, okay.

Speaker 25771.36s - 5772.44s

Playoff win as a quarterback.

Speaker 45772.48s - 5776.5s

So better, he's a better baseball player than he was at tight end.

Speaker 25777.2s - 5777.86s

Oh, for sure.

Speaker 45778.04s - 5778.2s

Yeah.

Speaker 25779.12s - 5780.28s

His, whatever it was.

Speaker 45780.28s - 5781.34s

No chance at tight end.

Speaker 25782.32s - 5787.16s

How many, was it like 15 snaps he played in that game, the preseason game, before they finally

Speaker 45787.16s - 5788.22s

were like, no, enough.

Speaker 25789.26s - 5791.14s

Might be the worst 15 snaps I've ever seen.

Speaker 45791.14s - 5797.28s

I mean, he's a big jacked up quarterback, but he looked like any quarterback playing tight end, basically. Yeah.

Speaker 25798.28s - 5798.74s

Uh-huh.

Speaker 45799.18s - 5799.52s

That was it.

Speaker 25800.02s - 5801.08s

Other than maybe Josh Allen.

Speaker 45801.24s - 5802.06s

Josh Allen could do it.

Speaker 25803.52s - 5804.46s

Josh Allen could do it.

Speaker 45805.02s - 5809.12s

Just those were like maybe the worst 15 snaps of football I've ever seen from a professional.

Speaker 25809.3s - 5809.66s

It was rough.

Speaker 45809.76s - 5810.46s

They were horrific.

Speaker 25811.58s - 5812.04s

All right, man.

Speaker 45812.38s - 5813.32s

That's it for us today.

Speaker 25813.96s - 5815.3s

We'll be back sometime later in the week.

Speaker 45815.42s - 5818.34s

We'll let you know how it goes with management.

Speaker 25819.76s - 5820.84s

We will let you know.

Speaker 45821.32s - 5822.72s

But yeah, that's it for us today.

Speaker 25822.8s - 5823.7s

Thanks to everybody for tune in.

Speaker 45823.76s - 5825.02s

We'll see you again later this week

Speaker 05825.02s - s

with more PFF and NFL Minds ORG. You know,
