Speaker 00s - 28.2s

Hi, this is Dr. Lari Santos PERSON. In a world that sometimes feels uncertain, there are beacons of hope in your neighborhood. Introducing Neighbor to Neighbor, a California Volunteers Network ORG. Whether it's lending a helping hand to a neighbor in need or standing together in times of natural disaster, neighbor to neighbor empowers you to grow your community.

Speaker 228.84s - 93.82s

Visit c.a neighbors.com to learn how you can build a more connected community, neighbor to neighbor Slayton with you. Nate Lucas alongside of the Monster Energy Drink, STL-Cars.com, Kings Court FAC. We were just talking during the break. I mean, I just said to Nate PERSON, how stunningly beautiful is Hope Hicks PERSON. She's testifying today in the Trump PERSON trial. She was counsel to the president. She was his communications director. She worked for the Trump Corporation ORG. She had some not-so-n nice texts about the January 6th situation, and she was wrong, by the way. She said on one of the texts, his future wiped out in one day. And that's not true, obviously, because he's the nominee for president and winning in all the polls. So she was dead wrong on that. But she's not going to turn on him, that's for sure. But she's stunningly beautiful. I mean, it's really kind of unfair, we were saying. Nate PERSON, I think someone that's that beautiful shouldn't be that smart too. I know.

Speaker 193.98s - 96.78s

She's been giving the keys to greatness, but...

Speaker 296.78s - 98.46s

She really has. I mean.

Speaker 199.82s - 105.14s

And then you look over at CNN, and you were telling me that Caitlin Collins had Omarosa PERSON on as a guest.

Speaker 2105.42s - 108.7s

So CNN's resorted a game show contestants to try to trash Trump PERSON.

Speaker 1108.98s - 123.42s

And this is a lady, let's keep in mind if you were to go back, you know, when she first was brought into the Trump PERSON administration for whatever reason. They probably dragged her through the mud, and now she's just happy to go on any set and sit up there and be a talking head.

Speaker 2123.68s - 143.88s

These attention horrors are a dime a dozen, but it reflects something I've said about Trump PERSON all along as much as I love him, that he has a blind spot for hiring, and he hires some bizarre people, and putting Omarosa PERSON anywhere except out to watch the dog was a bizarre hire. You know, I think this time around he'll be better.

Speaker 0143.96s - 155.28s

He certainly didn't hire people like that in his corporation. But when he got to Washington GPE, I think he took the advice of people in Washington on hiring, and he's learned that lesson the hard way. There's no doubt. And this is what happens.

Speaker 2155.36s - 161.08s

When you go to like establishment picks, I mean, look no farther than say like guy like John

Speaker 1161.08s - 165.68s

Bolton, you know, this guy's a warmongmongering fool, and Trump PERSON, like, trusted him.

Speaker 0165.68s - 185s

And that's how you become undermined by these bureaucracies, the CIA, the NSA, the FBI ORG. And Chuck Schumer even went on that Sunday show notoriously, and he threatened Trump PERSON. He said, if you go after the intelligence agencies, they have seven ways to Sunday to get you back. And here we are witnessing it all unfold.

Speaker 2185.3s - 186.8s

It's pretty unbelievable, isn't it? Yeah.

Speaker 1187s - 192.32s

It's just they're that brazen with their openness of the control that they own you with.

Speaker 2193.38s - 203.58s

And interestingly enough, Schumer is the same guy who threatened the lives of two Supreme Court ORG justices on the courthouse steps, and nothing's ever happened to them.

Speaker 1204.58s - 207.42s

I mean, they're pathetic, but this whole country's pathetic.

Speaker 2207.6s - 274.9s

But the Cardinals are at home tonight against the pathetic White Sox ORG, speaking of pathetic. They're so bad. I mean, you can't ask for a better matchup. Sonny Gray against Brad Keller PERSON. Keller was never any good when he's with the Royals, and now he's with the White Sox ORG. And I'm just, I just laugh when I look at that pitching matchup. Now, those are exactly the kind if you're a betting person that you bet to Cardinals ORG and lose. Because the juice is so formidable. But it is the way it is. And they'll open that three-game series tonight. Then tomorrow, Lance Lynn PERSON pitches. And the Cardinals haven't announced who will pitch Sunday.I guess that's Matt PERSON's spot, the guy who injures his back while jogging. I can't not laugh every time I hear that. I'm the same way. I mean, if you told me that he stepped in a hole and broke his ankle, okay. But injures your back jogging. I mean, what were you doing? You were running. That's why you were doing. How do you get hurt running? It's mind-bogg. I mean, what were you doing? You were running. That's why you were doing. How do you get hurt running? It's mind-boggling. I mean, I can go out and jog right now, and I wouldn't hurt my back. I mean, everything else will hurt, but I wouldn't injure my back.

Speaker 1274.94s - 277.94s

It might hurt because it would be sore, but I wouldn't injure it.

Speaker 2278s - 281.88s

I told Jimmy here on my way out of the studio, I said, you know, some days I feel old,

Speaker 1281.88s - 287.62s

but at least I can still go jogging and not injure myself. I got that going for me. How'd you hurt yourself? Well, I said, you know, some days I feel old, but at least I can still go jogging and not injure myself. I got that going for me.

Speaker 2288.54s - 309.42s

How'd you hurt yourself? Well, I went to church Sunday, and when I sat down in the pew, I got my ankle caught in the knee-I mean, it's just so stupid. I don't even believe it, first of all. It had to be some other kind of injury that he sustained. I don't believe any of these injuries.I'm at the point now I don't believe anybody about anything except the Trumpster and maybe Ho Picks ORG.

Speaker 1309.78s - 332.04s

Matt PERSON's has just been a disaster, though. I mean, this guy, he's injured all the time. He clearly can't pitch through any sort of soreness. This was all set up. Keep in mind, he got off to a decent start, the first two starts. But then his start in Arizona ORG was going well. He had a huge lead, and then he threw the ball away. And he hasn't been the same guy since that throwing air.

Speaker 2333.22s - 443.14s

No, and it's another free agent signing that the Cardinals ORG made. This past off season, one of the reasons the Cubs are battling for first place in the division is because they went out and signed a Japanese NORP pitcher by the name of Shota Imanaga PERSON, who is the best pitcher in baseball through the first month of the season. A 0.78 earn run average over six starts. He's given up only three earned runs all season long with a strikeout per inning. And you might think, well, gosh, you think Yamamoto and on the 400 million that he got, well, Imanaga got four-year, $53 million contract. And the Cubs only had to pay just under $10 million in a feed to the Japanese NORP teamto get his services. So you're talking about $63 million over four years for a guy who's the best pitcher in baseball. Where were the Cardinals ORG on that one? See, it gets down to the Cardinals ORG scouting again. Who's scouting these players?Who's involved when Jeff Luna PERSON was there? They were bringing in really good players, stocking their farm system with good players, developing those players, and now they're doing none of that. Yeah, it's mind-boggling.And here's the best pitcher in baseball in your arch-rivals ballpark and probably going to help pitch the Cubs to the Division Championship this year. That'd be my guess, you know, barring injury, of course. But I don't see the Cubs ORG. It's going to be the Cubs of the Brewers ORG. The Cardinals ORG have an easy road to the All-Star break, though, from here on out. They don't play very many teams that are 500 or better. Of course, there's a lot of bad teams in baseball, and eventually they'll all play them. So this is the time if the Cardinals ORG are going to get better in a record sense, then they have to sweep the White Sox ORG. I don't think two out of three would be considered a series win, in my opinion, in this particular case.

Speaker 1443.28s - 446.42s

I think you have to go five-and-one on this homestand at the very least.

Speaker 2447.38s - 448.44s

Who comes in next?

Speaker 1448.68s - 449.92s

New York, the Mets ORG.

Speaker 2450.86s - 492.72s

Yeah, and of course the Mets beat the Cardinals up in New York GPE, the last game of that series, but the Cardinals had taken the first two. The Mets had a tremendous come from behind win over the Cubs yesterday. Cubs blew a 4-0-0 lead. So the Mets ORG are a weird team. They've got the best bullpen in baseball, and yet they can't seem to gain any traction. They're just hovering around 500 like most teams are, except for the real bad ones, and then a couple of decent ones. But it's a weird year. I mean, look at the Rangers. They're hovering around 500. And there's been a lot ones and then a couple of decent ones. But it's a weird year. I mean, look at the Rangers ORG. They're hovering around 500. And there's been a lot of injuries, a lot of pitching injuries in baseball in the first month of the season.

Speaker 0493s - 509.9s

None of it really makes any sense. You know, Baltimore seems to be Baltimore. The Yankees ORG are better than I thought they'd be. That might be a leveling off point at some stage where they come down to earth. But the Braves are than I thought they'd be. That might be a leveling off point at some stage where they come down to Earth LOC. But the Braves ORG are what we thought they'd be.

Speaker 2510.56s - 519.48s

Excellent, very good. The Oakland A's are better than anticipated. Better record than the Cardinals ORG. The Oakland A's have a better record than the Cardinals as we start May.

Speaker 1520.2s - 521.16s

Did you think you'd say that?

Speaker 2521.28s - 586.16s

I did not. Rangers also got hit last night with an injury. Nathan Yovaldi had to leave the game in the sixth inning with a groin injury. Yeah, they're a beaten-up team, man. They can't keep anybody healthy. And Corey Seeger PERSON's having the worst year of his career.I mean, he's mired in a slump that I don't think I've ever seen before. I think he's hitting in the 240s now. Wow. He was hitting 360, you know, first week or so of the season. He's just gone into the ice age. And then you've got the Astros at 11 and 20.They won their game last night, but they've won three out of four, so they might be starting to turn it around after a woeful start. But again, injuries were part of that issue. They just got Framber Valdez back and Justin Verlander PERSON back. You got those kinds of injuries on your pitching staff. You're going to get off to a slow start. And obviously with the Cardinals ORG, the hitting has been just atrocious. You would think the offense could score better than they have. But, boy, a month's worth is not a small sample size.

Speaker 1587.02s - 594.3s

No, and they're not, I mean, Aronado and Goldie PERSON are just not hitting home runs. I think Aronado has one home run.

Speaker 2594.3s - 602.3s

One home run. Dating, and that goes all the way back to last August. Wow. I didn't realize

Speaker 1602.3s - 604.2s

that. Yeah, like August 19th

Speaker 2604.2s - 605.08s

or something like that. Jeez. Well, you know, I didn't realize that. Yeah, like August 19th or something like that.

Speaker 1605.96s - 606.36s

Jeez.

Speaker 2607.8s - 624.48s

Well, you know, I don't know why hitters going to slumps like that. It's not as though pitchers all of a sudden figure out guys because these are guys who've been around for a long time. I'm not expecting Aeronado to ever perform like he did in Colorado ORG, but good grief. He's become a singles hitter.

Speaker 1626.26s - 633.1s

It's, you got to, I mean, you can't live and die by the long ball, but you can't just not hit home runs.

Speaker 2633.78s - 649s

No, but teams do live and die by it in this day and age. That's the problem. You still win with pitching, and you win with timely hitting. You know, I've repeated this many times, but Billy Martin was a career 250 hitter. And he said, but my one for four would kill you.

Speaker 0649.68s - 656.36s

I'd rather have eight Billy Martins than 10 Nolan ORG Aeronados. Because I want a guy who's won for four is going to kill the other team.

Speaker 2657.7s - 669.16s

You know, you can buy these hits. You can have them, you know, with nobody on base. But, man, when you got guys in scoring position in two outs and you deliver time and time again, that's the kind of guy that wins your games.

Speaker 1670.22s - 674.14s

And I think, let me pull up the Cardinal splits this year, but they're...

Speaker 2674.14s - 677.06s

I think they're hitting 2-02 with runners in scoring position.

Speaker 1677.1s - 678.16s

Oh, that is just awful.

Speaker 2678.66s - 691.46s

I mean, that's almost hard to do. It seems harder to do that than it would be to hit 350. I mean, that's just awful. Yeah, 203.

Speaker 1691.6s - 693.66s

203 with runners in scoring position.

Speaker 2694.66s - 696.14s

That's unbelievably bad.

Speaker 1696.84s - 697.72s

Historically bad.

Speaker 2699s - 731.7s

But this Imanaga kid up in Chicago, he's 30 years old, so the Cubs ORG are getting him somewhat in his prime and a very, like you said, money-friendly contract, much better than the contracts any of the Cardinal ORG pitchers have.I mean, he's pitching better than Sunny Gray. Sunny Gray's off to a great start, and this guy's better. And Sunny Gray makes $25 million a year while this kid is making somewhere around 13. A heck of a deal by the Cubs in the off season.

Speaker 1731.7s - 743.14s

I applaud so many of these organizations, including the Milwaukee Brewers ORG, for their ability to find guys who you don't necessarily pay the most money, but they've identified them as superior talent.

Speaker 2743.4s - 818.32s

And so they might not catch big headlines when they're signed to these contracts, but then they perform well. And so everybody craves, you know, payroll, payroll, payroll. Let's see them spend, spend, spend. Spending money doesn't necessarily equate to acquiring top-notch talent. And the Cardinals ORG seem to just be off their calibration in terms of free age and external signings has just been brutal.Yeah, and the key is being to having that knack to balance that money versus finding these hidden gems. And then you don't go broke trying to stack your roster unless you live in New York or Chicago, L.A. And even in Chicago, the Cubs ORG hit it big with this kid so far in terms of money and performance. And the Cardinals ORG haven't hit that with anybody in a long, long time. And it's catching the eye of baseball people everywhere who are wondering when the Cardinalswill start producing from their farm system or when they'll produce ballplayers that they can learn how to develop? When's the last guy the Cardinals ORG developed into a real good player? Mason Wynn PERSON is off to a good start right now, but we know how that can change. Look how it's changed for Jordan Walker PERSON.

Speaker 1819.92s - 826.92s

I cannot remember the last, was Tommy Edmund an All-Star at one point? I don't think he was an All-Star.

Speaker 2827.04s - 829.1s

I'd have to go back and check, but I don't think he was.

Speaker 1829.3s - 847.14s

I'd have to look too, but offensively speaking, it's been a long time since the Cardinals featured a player that was homegrown that rose to All-Star caliber level. And not just, even if it was Edmund, you know, that's a flash in a pan, one-year thing. I'm talking about perennial All-Star talent.

Speaker 2847.82s - 850.94s

Well, they actually had four of them, but they gave them all away. Oh.

Speaker 1854.22s - 857.92s

So the ones they've identified and kept, there haven't been any.

Speaker 2858.58s - 863.78s

But they did have four of them and gave them all away, three of which were in the starting

Speaker 1863.78s - 865.72s

moments of the All-Star game last year,

Speaker 2865.76s - 896.22s

and the only reason the other guy wasn't was because he was having Tommy John surgery. So after winning the Cy Young WORK_OF_ART, I might add. So yeah, they had them, but they let them go.We all thought Dylan Carlson PERSON would be that guy, or at least I did. I plead guilty to falling for the hype around Dylan Carlson PERSON. I just thought, or at least I did. I plead guilty to falling for the hype around Dylan Carlson PERSON. I just thought he was going to be the real deal. But he clearly is not. He is defensively, but he's not at the plate. He's not even

Speaker 1896.22s - 898.22s

an average Joe. Yeah, I did too.

Speaker 2898.36s - 900.1s

Now, it does seem like he'll be back

Speaker 1900.1s - 907.84s

with the club here. And then I'm even thinking maybe by Monday he could be back in the lineup because he is on a rehab stint with Memphis ORG.

Speaker 2908.56s - 928.44s

Well, it would be great if he would be able to somehow turn his offensive game around. I hope he does. But at this point in his career, would you think that his confidence is so shot that the best thing for him, not for the Cardinals ORG maybe, but for him would be to be traded to another team and get a fresh start somewhere.

Speaker 1928.86s - 933.86s

I think you're on to something there, but it concerns me that he would be the next player

Speaker 2933.86s - 943.38s

to go to a different organization and find tremendous success. He joined Rose Arena and Garcia in the outfield in the All-Star game EVENT.

Speaker 1944.22s - 964.02s

I mean, and that's just you just almost expect it, right? Like when a guy leaves town, they're going to go on and find their groove. And I just, I cannot, for the life of me, pinpoint why that is the case other than maybe the, I don't even know. I mean, do you pin it on the coaching staff? It's bizarre.

Speaker 2964.74s - 965.34s

Yes, you do. On the coaching staff? It's bizarre. Yes, you do.

Speaker 1965.94s - 970.2s

On the coaching staff of player development people, the scouts, the general manager,

Speaker 2971.2s - 1024.12s

it's not a coincidence that the Cardinals haven't produced those kinds of players since Lunow PERSON left, and it's not a coincidence that the Cardinals had one of their employees served time in federal prison for trying to tap into Lunau PERSON's computer information on the draft. The Cardinals ORG realized at least somebody up there did, other than Chris for Korea GPE who took thefall forward. Somebody there realized we're inept at this. We better, you know, break the law and check Jeff Lunoz stuff because we can't draft anybody properly. Sosomebody knows it. They're just not doing anything about it. They're not making any changes. It's just, again, the Cardinals ORG seem to be an operation that looks like they're going to be for sale pretty soon. I mean, I can't come to any other conclusion because they've given up caring about winning. You can't keep John Moseilac PERSON and think that you are serious about winning.

Speaker 11025.3s - 1033.96s

It is official now that Matt's has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a lower back strain. Good Lord.

Speaker 21034.8s - 1073.04s

What's you going to do next? Get hurt playing wiffleball? Don't play chess or checkers while you're on the injured list. You might hurt yourself. I've never seen such fragile athletes as I do in baseball. chess or checkers while you're on the injured list, you might hurt yourself. I've never seen such fragile athletes as I do in baseball. It's just unbelievable. Nobody's tough anymore in that game. It seems like everybody, oh, I'm hurt, I'm hurt, I'm hurt, I'm hurt, what's the problem? Well, I'm sore. Or, you know, they need a rest. I mean, you read Marmel, his comments saying that he wants to get his guys days off before their bodies are screaming for it.Bodies are screaming for it. Whose body is screaming for a day off playing baseball in April?

Speaker 11073.72s - 1075.14s

And they've had days off.

Speaker 21075.34s - 1079.14s

They haven't played a Thursday game for like four weeks.

Speaker 11080.08s - 1083s

And they had a rainout on a Monday against Detroit ORG.

Speaker 21083.7s - 1210.22s

Yeah, so they had to play two games the next day, but so what? They had a day off. But it's just, and you know, back in the day, these guys played double-headers all the time, and they played them back to back, and they didn't have any time in between the games, but a half hour, and the same guys played both games for the most part. Now it's like, oh, my God, we can't have Mason Win play the second game. We've got to get him out of there. And I just don't understand it where he says something like that, that their bodies are going to be screaming for a day off. Who? And if you have a guy whose body is screaming for a day off in April, unless he's 45 years old, then you need to get rid of that guy. It's my belief that nobody's screaming for a day off, that these are these managers. They think they're such geniuses. I remember that was a time that I got sideways with Mike Mathini PERSON when he lied to me. I don't like being lied to. You can answer the question any way you want, but don't lie to me. I asked himbecause it was in April when he at first taking over the Cardinals he had David Freeze PERSON out of the lineup. David Freeze had been the World Series hero the year before, had come back like a ball of fire the next year in April, was hitting the ball all over the place, driving and runs. All of a sudden, he's got a day off. It's April. So I had Mathini PERSON on the show, and I asked him.I said, do players ask for days off? And he said, yeah, he said, they come to me and they ask for days off. And I said, and that's why Freeze was out. Yeah. So then I called David Freeze, and I said, do you ever ask for a day off? He said, I've never asked for a day off.Never in my life, and I never would. So, I mean, come on. I wasn't stupid. I knew he wouldn't ask for a day off. I mean, even though I'm not a Poo-Hulls ORG guy, Poo-Holls ORG played almost every game. And that's how you do it. You know, what do you need a day off for? This is baseball you're playing. It's not football or hockey or even basketball. You know, the only guys that get days off are pitchers and catchers, and catchers shouldn't

Speaker 11210.22s - 1225.4s

want too many days off. None of these guys should be craving days off. You get four months off, all right? Exactly. Get in there and play. Carlson last night, two for three with a home run and a rehab start against Charlotte ORG.

Speaker 21226.3s - 1236.76s

Good for him. Tommy Pham will be here tonight. He's with the White Sox ORG. They quickly won three games after he came over and they won the first three games he was playing with him. How about that?

Speaker 11237.3s - 1247.02s

Maybe Tommy Fam is a good luck charm. Well, they really took that momentum and ran with it into the ground because then they got swept three-game spot right in Minnesota GPE.

Speaker 21248.62s - 1251.8s

The twins are hot, but White Sox ORG just are bad.

Speaker 11252.52s - 1270.98s

But I don't think it matters. I mean, you can look at all of these pitchers that the Cardinals will face in the next three games, and I don't think it matters. If your offense is spiraling to the rock bottom that they've hit. I don't, you know, who? I mean, they couldn't hit Kenta Maeda PERSON. That's the unbelievable thing.

Speaker 21271.42s - 1294.86s

As bad as that guy is right now. Here's what Marmel said about getting days off. He says it's a game within the game. It's interesting. You can go extremely hard and then you're trying to find off days. Whereas if you just pace yourself a little bit, then you try to get a guy a day off before his body is screaming for it. That's just a bunch of gibberish. I mean, what is that?

Speaker 11295.04s - 1297.62s

You know, that sounds like a guy who's never played in the big leagues ORG.

Speaker 21297.76s - 1298.24s

Oh, wait.

Speaker 11299.18s - 1302.36s

He never has. Yeah. Sounds like Kamala Harris PERSON.

Speaker 21304.36s - 1305.54s

That's just idiocy.

Speaker 11307.5s - 1308.46s

Pure idiocy.

Speaker 21309.88s - 1331.76s

The guy's body's screaming for a day off. Mason Wynn's body was screaming for a day off the other day? Are you serious? For the second game of that doubleheader, a 22-year-old player, his body was screaming for a day off? I don't think so.I think if you asked Mason PERSON when, you'll get the same response I got when I asked David Freeze PERSON years ago that I never asked for a day off.

Speaker 11332.52s - 1333.76s

I'll never forget.

Speaker 21334s - 1336.82s

A very short conversation I had with Tommy Edmund

Speaker 11336.82s - 1350.36s

when I was doing the Springfield Cardinals ORG games, when the players wouldn't be starting, they would sign autographs for the fans walking through the gates at Hammonds Field. And I said, wow, Tommy, taking a day off. He goes, yeah, I could just use a day off.

Speaker 01350.4s - 1362.1s

And I told him 2,632. And he goes, what's that? And I said, well, that's the consecutive streak that the Iron Man PERSON set. And he said, wow. I said, yeah, you should try to be more like that.

Speaker 11362.5s - 1368.84s

I love it. Good for you. And nobody could convince anybody that Cal Ripkin, Jr. PERSON didn't play injured.

Speaker 21368.94s - 1469.72s

He played injured a lot. Not injured, I should say. He played hurt a lot. He didn't play injured because when you're injured, you can't play. But he played hurt a lot. He had twisted ankles. He had all kinds of things. But he showed up every day and played. Every day. Every day. At a very demanding position, you know, because you're getting runners sliding into you at shortstop all the time.So it's not surprising to me that Marmold PERSON doesn't know what he's talking about. That doesn't surprise me. I mean, everything starts at the top. We all know that. And so when you look at the organizational chart, you say to yourself, okay, the De Wits don't seem to care. Bill the third is started to lie. He never did before, but he has now. And he's running for cover and hiding. And so I start thinking, okay, they just don't want to even, they don't even care about winning anymore. And you keep Moseilock PERSON. You have given them extension last year. now you give marmaline extension, and it sounds like Missou GPE all over again. These people are all nuts. I mean, if you want to make money and not be very good at what you do, go to Missourior go to the Cardinals ORG. It's incredible, really. So I don't know what's going to happen, but we shall see that we would hope that there are 500 team by Sunday night, because they're 14 and 17 right now, they're half game ahead of the Pirates out of the cellar in the National League Central ORG. Is that cause for celebration, do you suppose? No, the Pirates organization is atrocious. And yet, the Pirates Minor League system is ranked like first or second by these people that rank these farm systems. The Cardinals, everybody in the Cardinals divisions in the top 10, but they're not. They're 22nd.

Speaker 11470.36s - 1493.36s

Yeah, I was reading an article yesterday about Paul Skeens, who they took in the first round of last year's draft, and there's a lot of excitement that he's going to make his Major League debut this season. And yet, he has never, up until his last start, pitched into the fifth inning of a ballgame. I mean, they treat these kids with such, I mean, why don't you just

Speaker 21493.36s - 1516.6s

put them in bubble wrap? That is unbelievable. Yeah, it is. It really is. There's a correlation somewhere between all these guys getting hurt and all these guys not pitching much. They're all, I guess, as soon as the fifth inning rolls around, oh my God, if I pitch the sixth inning, I'll get hurt. And then they become the predictor of their own future, really.

Speaker 11516.6s - 1535.46s

And I think the Cardinals did that with Jordan Hicks, and I see a very similar blueprint that they're lining out with Tink Hens, who is one of their lone top 100 MLB ORG prospects in the system. And has electric stuff. I have no idea if he knows where it's going. But, I mean, let's take the training wheels off the kid.No kidding.

Speaker 21536.06s - 1589.38s

We talked about the arms race in college sports and what it's going to cost these schools. And that's when the players woke up, seeing the administrators and coaches getting these exorbitant salaries and not having achieved much. Kirby Smart was made the highest paid coach in college football by Georgia yesterday. They raised his salary to $13 million a year and extended his contract two more years. He had gotten a 10-year, $112.5 million contract in 2022.And he was the highest paid coach then, but he only lasted for a month. Then Nick Sabin and Daubo Sweeney PERSON got salary adjustments to move them back ahead of him. Well, now Nick Sabin PERSON's out. So Dao Sweeney PERSON's probably in the same ballpark. The sad, the crazy part is, that drink is only 4 million behind him, and he was only a million behind him until thisnew deal yesterday. Go figure that out.

Speaker 11591.28s - 1596.36s

Well, maybe his agent probably said, look at what Missouri is paying Eli Drinkwitz PERSON.

Speaker 21596.8s - 1655.64s

Guarantee, that's what he said. I'll guarantee that contract was used. Kirby Smart's first deal was in 2015 when he went to Georgia ORG. He made $3.75 million on a six-year deal. But he's won two national championships as well. And he's 43 and two in the past three seasons. So when you rack up that kind of record,he should be the highest paid coach in football. I don't know that he should be at $13 million. But if Drinkwood's is at $9 million, Kirby Smart ought to be around $20 million. The real joke is that the drink is at $9 million. That's a joke. It's a lot of dough. A lot of dough for an under 500 coach except for one year. We're talking 43 and 2 versus a 5 and 5, a 6 and 7, a 6 and 7, and then an 11 and 2. And they were making the same money just about until yesterday. And now smart's only 4 million ahead.

Speaker 11655.92s - 1661.96s

For whatever it's worth, it's all, I mean, outrageous amounts of money for a football coach.

Speaker 21662.96s - 1663.16s

I mean...

Speaker 11663.16s - 1665.38s

Well, if the revenue's there, I've always said, even though it sounds like an outrageous amount, fine. But it doesn Well, if the revenues there, I've always said,

Speaker 21665.46s - 1807.14s

even though it sounds like an outrageous amount, fine. But it doesn't sound like the revenues there at most of these places. Now, Georgia, their athletic department, gave money to the university last year, as opposed to Missouri, where the university loan $23 million to the athletic department. So there's quite a big difference there in whether your program is profitable, Georgia ORG's is,but Missouri GPE's isn't. And they run around giving raises like they can't wait. It's incredible. They should be throwing raises around like, like, you know, nickels around like their anvils. That's the way Missouri GPE should be doing it right now until they get their budget under control. And I don't think that this oversight committee is going to do that, the cost of playing. And if you're going to pay your football coach $9 million a year until he's won a conference championship, at least, well, you're out of your mind. So Missouri GPE is completely irresponsible down there. And it's not the AD ORG. It's that board of curators and the Oversight Committee ORG. Those are the ones who fought to pay Drenquitz to the two extensions. So it is ironic that a Board of Curators ORG and this oversight committee made up of some of the curators is going to oversee the Athletic Department and make them financially responsible when they're the ones who gave the extensions that weren't warranted to Dennis Gates and to drinkwitz. I mean, so Desiree PERSON gets ousted for that and she fought against it. They did it and they're now overseeing the athletic department to make it financially responsible. I mean, it's just like, just put a whole checklist together and watch Missouri GPE get it wrong. It doesn't matter what it is, they still get it wrong. It's just incredible that, and then this, this Laird Veach PERSON coming in here, again, a guy whose basketball team was on probation now for finishing up three-year probation. But even if he wasn't, I mean, he's walking into a quagmire, a financial quagmire. And right away, how would you like to walk into your job, Nate PERSON, and be told by the way, your first order of business is you need to raise $250 million.I'd hope I have some rich friends. I would hope they are, and I can find them and locate them real fast, and they're in a giving mood.

Speaker 11808.18s - 1809.5s

That's not going to be easy.

Speaker 21809.5s - 1821.88s

You brought up the article yesterday where it's at administrative officials, you know, expect for the athletic program to run at essentially, you know, to break even for the foreseeable future.

Speaker 11822.38s - 1833.28s

And I see a lot of parallels between all of our elected officials when they talk about wanting to balance the budget because their actions don't line up with their spending habits.

Speaker 21833.52s - 1879.38s

Yeah, I mean, how can Missouri GPE say we expect, you know, him to have financial success when you haven't had any? The people that are there need to be gone. This Munchoi PERSON needs to be gone. This board of curators, they all need to be ousted. They're the ones responsible. You know, and so now you've got coaches making exorbitant salaries that haven't earned them. And there's no going backwards. You've already screwed it up. So get rid of the people that screwed it up. I don't know how these terms are for these curators, how long these terms are, but there's got to be a way to oust them.Instead, you've got the, literally you've got the wolf watching the henhouse down there. It's so ridiculous.

Speaker 11879.62s - 1898.74s

I find it to be a pretty simple concept. If you're running at a deficit, stop spending. Right. Okay? So when you hire a search firm to go do your work for you, that would be extemporaneous spending that maybe you could cut out of the budget to run closer to actually making a profit.

Speaker 21899.34s - 2012.38s

Yeah, I know that they paid the search from 100 and a quarter, but that's still 100 and a quarter you didn't have to spend a penny on. Precisely. Or fire yourself because you're incompetent. You're saying you're incompetent that you can't find an athletic director, so whoever's doing that should be fired because you're admitting you can't do a job.You know, I mean, you're kidding me? We'll take a break. We're in the Monster Energy PRODUCT drink. STL-dash cars.com, Kingscourt FAC. It's taco time at Taco Bell because it's lunchtime on a Friday afternoon.
