There he is. There I am. But the good news is you don't have to retire that.

Speaker 3108.42s - 112.18s

Oh, we're going to get the way too early 2025 mocks.

Speaker 6112.18s - 113.04s

Well, that too.

Speaker 3113.2s - 120.46s

But you know what next week starts? Mocking the schedule. I want to mock.

Speaker 0120.56s - 121.02s

Mock!

Speaker 3121.14s - 125.94s

Don't ever forget this league, you think this league will leave hanging like that?

Speaker 2126.86s - 129.68s

And I think, didn't we hear, or has it been announced,

Speaker 6129.86s - 137.64s

or one of us heard a little birdie that, like, it's usually May 15th-ish, but it's like May 9th? I mean, it's going to be like in a week and a half.

Speaker 3138.22s - 140.12s

I found it a projected date.

Speaker 6140.24s - 141.72s

They're not saying a 50th yet, but they're a-

Speaker 1141.72s - 162.2s

Oh, so it's a mock schedule for the schedule release. I would even say also not just for us. My fiance wants that to come out because I told her I can't plan any honeymoon stuff until that is out, which goes over really well in this house. But this is where we're at here. We're at the mercy of the NFL ORG schedule. So I need to figure out what that looks like too in this house.

Speaker 6162.32s - 165.4s

And the preseason, you know, because you guys are getting married in the summertime.

Speaker 1165.82s - 169.26s

And you guys are getting married within a month, the preseason schedule coming out.

Speaker 0169.56s - 173.4s

I want to mock. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6173.7s - 216.2s

So while the Vikings ORG just finished up, their 2024 entire draft class, if you are coming here for JJ McCarthy discussion, I think we would point you to the countless hours over the past couple days on the Purple Daily podcast feed and YouTube channel, Apple Spotify, where we, Jud and I jumped on last night. They didn't have a pick last night. And we jumped on for the first hour we talked J.J. McCarthy. Dallas Turner, obviously, with the 17th pick. But let me, I'm going to fly through these. And we can kind of come back and talk about anyone individually. I've got some notes on these guys, but they round out. By the way, they didn't make a trade today, right? No. They stuck at all. Congratulations,

Speaker 1216.5s - 223.26s

Quasi for for sticking and picking here, I guess. But with the 108th pick, a fourth round pick,

Speaker 6223.26s - 276.6s

the Vikings selected cornerback Kyrie Jackson from Oregon ORG. And again, we'll fill in details as we go back here. With a six-round pick, 177 overall, offensive tackle Walter Ruse from Oklahoma ORG. Six-round pick 203, kicker, Will Reichard from Alabama GPE. In fact, he was one of the two kickers that Thor PERSON threw out as draftableon the final seven-round mock simulation we did with him last week. The Stanford kid was the other one. And then seventh round, the 230 overall, Interior Offensive Lyman Michael Juergens from Wake Forest ORG. And then a seventh rounder, 232 overall defensive tackle, Levi Drake Rodriguez from Texas A&M Commerce ORG inFCS ORG school. So where do you guys want to start here with just the day three picks that just came across the board here in the last couple hours? Anything stand out to you guys?

Speaker 3277.06s - 367.54s

Well, the kicker did because, of course, the last time the Vikings ORG tried to go this route, Daniel Carlson was a fifth rounder, if I'm not mistaken. And Will Reichard is a sixth round pick. But the difference here to me is substantial because I actually have no problem this time with drafting a kicker because of the coaching staff, which I think will put up with the kicker. My whole thing with when Spielman took Carlson PERSON was you are sending him into a hornet's nest.Zimmer doesn't like kickers to start with. This guy is a kid. The first sign of trouble, and it happened. Mike's going to melt down. And it started in training camp. And it didn't end until after what was that third game of the season at Lambo FAC when they had to cut, or they didn't have to. They cut him because he had a terrible game. Riker PERSON, in this case, to me, I like this if you're going to spend a pick on a kicker because, first of all, the head coach, far more patient, not even close. Matt Daniels PERSON, to me, has done some really good things as a special team's coordinator. So this is not one where I roll my eyes and think you wasted a pick. This is one where I will say, I think for the sixth round, this was a smart move. This was a smart move because it gives you a kicker. I mean, how long have we complained about kickers? And part of my thing was always previously during the Zimmer PERSON regime was you're going to have to bring in a veteran because the person's going to have to have some type of thick skin.Yeah.

Speaker 6368.14s - 369.46s

And now Thor PERSON,

Speaker 3369.76s - 382.86s

this was not the one that Thor PERSON endorsed. Thor endorsed the Stanford ORG kid, and he brought up this, this, uh, Rikert PERSON's name.Yeah. But, but Thor's thing was the Stanford ORG kid, kid kicked countless 50 yard field goals because Stanford ORG was like, ah,

Speaker 2382.86s - 385s

just go out there and try another one. Dude, Nick Sabin loves this kid, but he didn't do that. But last year, kicked countless 50 yard field goals because Stanford ORG was like, I'd just go out there and try another one.

Speaker 0387.7s - 389.04s

Nick Sabin loves this kid, but he didn't do that. But last year,

Speaker 2390.26s - 391.26s

Will Rickard PERSON was,

Speaker 0391.66s - 394.12s

or Reichard was five for five from 50 plus.

Speaker 3394.64s - 394.98s

Here's the,

Speaker 6395.08s - 410.64s

so I got some other stats on Reichard because it's Alabama GPE. And to your point, you're not really kicking a lot of 50 yard field goals when you're Alabama GPE. He only attempted 1350 plus yard field goals in his career and 297 career extra points

Speaker 9410.64s - 413.62s

because you're constantly getting in the deep red.

Speaker 0414.54s - 419.58s

But, yeah, PFF had him as a 95 grade on field goals and extra points,

Speaker 9419.58s - 422.8s

which was fourth among all college football kickers.

Speaker 6423.68s - 459.78s

And the consensus board. So the Vikings took him 203. The consensus board had him 218. So the consensus board is just all the big boards piled into one consensus. So they maybe reached a little bit per the consensus boards. But I will say this about an Alabama GPE kicker. You're kicking in a lot of raucous environments. Those are NFL ORG stadiums, basically, in terms of environment and pressure. There's no more pressure-packed conference in college football than the SEC ORG. So tough to rattle an SEC ORG kicker, I think, that has some polish. So I'm interested to see him in training camp.

Speaker 3459.78s - 475.82s

And it's Sabin, too. And Sabin love this kid. Yeah. But I actually think if you were to ask me of the, after the first round of the Vikings picks for 2024, who stands to actually have an impact, well, Riker PERSON's the guy.

Speaker 1477.1s - 498.22s

He also has been kicking his entire life. His entire, in peewee football, this guy was kicking. He was going to youth this guy was kicking. He was going to youth camps strictly for kicking. This was not some random soccer player that said, hey, can you, can you come and kick PATs for us on the side of the high school games?

Speaker 5499.72s - 500.44s

What do you want to do when you grow up, Willie PERSON?

Speaker 1501.62s - 508.28s

And he wanted to be a kicker. I want to be a firefighter. I want to be a police officer. This is brilliant. I want to be a firefighter. I want to be a police officer. This is brilliant. I want to be a national football league kicker.

Speaker 5508.5s - 509.12s

Yeah.

Speaker 1512.96s - 516.92s

He literally attended in sixth grade, in fifth and sixth grade, kicking camps for football, not to soccer camps.

Speaker 5520.6s - 524.68s

This guy's been like groomed to be a football kicker playing his parents or or his parents are psychos and genius because they know that the,

Speaker 6524.68s - 529.4s

that there's like, your son's probably not going to be a starting defensive tackle in the NFL

Speaker 5529.4s - 535.18s

quarterback is tough right but if we if he could be a punter or a kicker and we can groom him from

Speaker 1535.18s - 541.48s

the age of six yep it's it's like it's like when your kid is born and he starts to pick up

Speaker 6541.48s - 547.26s

things with his right hand and you're like no, no, no, Junior PERSON. No, Junior, here's your hands tied behind your back.

Speaker 1547.34s - 548.36s

You got to use the left hand.

Speaker 3548.36s - 550s

And it becomes a reliever.

Speaker 6550.44s - 553.18s

And you're going to be out of the bullpen too, son.

Speaker 1553.84s - 559.84s

On Alabamarivals.com, this article that was written in four years ago in 2020,

Speaker 2560s - 566.82s

there's a sentence in here, nicknamed the baby-faced assassin for his boyish facial features,

Speaker 1567.26s - 570.88s

Reichert PERSON has long been revered as a prodigy in the kicking world.

Speaker 0571.52s - 574.02s

So, like, I legitimately think we're talking about,

Speaker 6574.4s - 595s

like, a kicking prodigy that has been doing this his entire life. Maybe this is exactly what this franchise needs. Or is this bad? Is this like a McCulley Culkin, Jonathan Taylor Thomas PERSON? Like, you're a child star, and you peak when you're 12 years old or 16 years old. And now he's going to be a, you know, he's going to be on drugs.Like, is he going to flame out, is my question.

Speaker 3595.4s - 606.16s

He's in for competition here, though, because I'm going to tell you right now, it's going to be hard for team baby face to beat J.J. McCarthy PERSON. Or in terms of like the baby face to beat J.J. McCarthy PERSON.

Speaker 6608.86s - 609.2s

Or in terms of like the baby face rankings on the team?

Speaker 3611.74s - 612.12s

J.J. McCarthy looks like he might be 12.

Speaker 6614.28s - 616.78s

Josh McCown PERSON still has kind of a baby face. But he has a jaw that you could

Speaker 3616.78s - 621.74s

but it thinned out. But the key is your face does like thin out.

Speaker 1621.94s - 622.9s

Yeah, thinned out.

Speaker 6624.4s - 625.74s

JJ 21, he's out. JJ, 21.

Speaker 3626.1s - 627.98s

He's still got the baby face.

Speaker 6628.1s - 763.96s

So it's going to be hard for Will Riker PERSON to beat out. So they snagged the kicker. I want to talk about Kyrie Jackson here for a second. The cornerback, their first pick on day three here, the fourth round pick, number 108. The consensus boards had him as a top 100 prospect number 96. So they wind up getting 12 slots worth of value here. Some amazing quotes from this guy, by the way. I'm going to go through a couple things here. First of all, he'll be 25 years old when the season starts. So this is one of those deals where you're not really signing him to a second contract. He'll be like 29 when he hits free agency in four years. But he's six foot three,195 pounds. So he's one of the tallest cornerbacks in the draft. Brian Flores PERSON gets a tall, lanky cornerback, somebody with some maybe ability to jam at the line scrimmage. He played a couple years at Alabama and then wound up at Oregon ORG.But he barely played at Alabama. The thing about him is he's 25 years old when the season starts. He's only been like a one year starter in college. So that's part of the reason why he isn't maybe more of a reliable higher pick in this draft. Now pro football focus, they listed this on Twitter today, a career best 41.6 passer rating allowed in coverage in 2003 for Kyrie Jackson PERSON, which was second among all Pac-12 cornerbacks in a passing conference, by the way, where you got Michael Pennix, you got Bo Nix PERSON, all these guys lining it up.So, well, he was teammates with Bo Nicks. So he didn't his face, Bo Nix PERSON. But then some of the beat writers had some great quotes here. Kevin Sefer PERSON just had a lively video conference with Vikings cornerback Kyrie Jackson. He said he told the Vikings ORG at thesenior bowl quote, I'm the best cornerback in the draft. I told them they were going to get me for cheaper because of some of the politics that go into it. He's going to fall because of the politics being you're 25 and you've only started one year. And it was a great year. Yeah, there's a lot. Yes. And then Alec Lewis, our friend from the Athletic ORG, said, Kyrie Jackson was at the mall today when the Vikings ORG picked him. He likes clothing.Quote, I was in the store. I missed the first call. Then my phone rang again. I picked it up. It was the Vikings ORG. I told the lady in the store, well, I got to go.And I ran out.

Speaker 3765.1s - 773.54s

Yeah. He also had the one. Did you see the one where he left football, went to work at a grocery

Speaker 5773.54s - 781.88s

store? Yes. And in the deli. And he was like a professional gamer for a while too. Yeah. Yeah. This is this is an

Speaker 3781.88s - 788.18s

interesting one. There's a lot of questions here. Like there's a lot of, I mean, it could work. Well, that's why he's a fourth round pick and not a second

Speaker 5788.18s - 792.92s

round pick. This is the type of guy that like Spilman might have taken second or third round and it

Speaker 6792.92s - 796.92s

would be like, what are you doing? Because this could easily bust, but in the fourth round.

Speaker 5796.92s - 808.48s

But yeah, he's mysteriously out of football in 2017 and 18. Spends two years at Bama where Forno PERSON told me like they were raving about his

Speaker 6808.48s - 813.18s

athletic ability, but they didn't really play him. And then he gets suspended in 2022,

Speaker 3813.54s - 817.46s

goes in the portal, services at Oregon ORG, and as you just went through, was really good.

Speaker 4818.24s - 830.52s

This is Tom Bernard. Can't get enough of sports talk with Phil Mackey and Judd Zolgad PERSON. Tune in to the new Tom Bernard show podcast Monday through Friday, as Phil and Judd PERSON joined me to discuss the latest sports headlines and whatever else comes to mind.

Speaker 1847.12s - 853.3s

And at Harris Teeter ORG, too, by the way, a really good grocery store. So that is a very prominent southern grocery store.

Speaker 6853.34s - 857.4s

Nice. Okay. North Carolina GPE have some of those? North Carolina, Maryland GPE.

Speaker 1857.64s - 872.22s

When I visit my brother, usually like the first stop we go because they have the weird liquor laws there in North Carolina where you can only get beer in the grocery store and then ABC ORG stores sell like hard liquor and booze. It's a very strange system out down there.

Speaker 0872.6s - 877.26s

But Harris Teeter ORG is like, it's kind of like a hybrid between, it's a higher end like

Speaker 1877.26s - 884.84s

cub foods, but it's not quite whole foods. It's got the deli. It's got bars inside of them. You can drink beer there. I'm a big Harris Teeter ORG guy.

Speaker 6884.84s - 887.5s

You can just like belly up at the grocery store. Yeah.

Speaker 1887.6s - 894.32s

There's like a bar inside Harris Teeters ORG that you can belly up and have a tap that have a beer before you go or finish your shopping.

Speaker 6894.46s - 959.62s

I like that. Sometimes I get kind of, you know, the anxiety starts to set in after like 30 minutes of grocery shopping. I just need a shot of something to finish out the produce section. So, I mean, he's going to be automatically just one of the most fun players to follow in the offseason camps and training camp, Kyrie Jackson PERSON.We should also mention, too, before we get to some of these other players that we're going to transition to Vikings Ventline ORG here, kind of a draft recap edition hosted by Declan Vikings Ventline. So if you want to jump in the room here, if you're hanging out edition hosted by Declan, Vikings Ventline ORG. So if you want to jump in the room here, if you're hanging out with us, and by the way, there are 2,000 of you draft sickos hanging out with us right now on a Saturday evening as we recap this thing on the Purple Daily ORG YouTube channel.Just send an email if you want to get on Vikings Ventline to Vikingsventline at gmail.com. Vikingsventline at gmail.com. Also, we've got a bunch of you have already picked up in the Skornarth PERSON shop. Scornorth.com slash shop. Your official JJ to JJ ORG Purple Daily merchandise here. You can find t-shirts, hoodies, some crew necks. Declan PERSON's more of a crew neck guy.

Speaker 1959.88s - 972.34s

And I also locally, I know this is mostly just here in the Twin Cities GPE. Yesterday at about 6 o'clock, 615 on 49435W. I saw also the JJ to JJ ORG Billboard. Oh, that was up as well.

Speaker 0972.44s - 975.08s

So you guys will also see in the metro area here in the Twin Cities GPE.

Speaker 6975.2s - 986.78s

You might keep your eyes peeled for the digital billboard of JJ to JJ. Yeah. Now, Justin Jefferson has made it clear that there's only one JJ PERSON on the team, that his nickname is Jets or Jettas PERSON, right?

Speaker 3987.26s - 989.16s

And J.J. McCarthy PERSON is J.J.

Speaker 6989.44s - 1061.64s

But the fans still call Justin Jefferson JJ PERSON. So, okay, the next pick was, so they went, they went Kyrie Jackson, round four with the 108, and then they stuck at 177, a sixth round pick, and they drafted offensive tackle Walter Ruse from Oklahoma ORG, 6 foot 6, 32 pounds. He was 162 on the consensus board, so they got 15 slots of value for him. He was, I believe he was a four-year starter at Stanford ORG, and then a starter at Oklahoma ORG. So he has either been a starter or played pretty much the whole season for five years in college, Stanford and Oklahoma ORG, exclusively left tackle. Almost like 98% of his snaps came at left tackle.I did catch a little bit of his press conference, really impressive, sharp dude on the press conference. The media, looks like Alec Lewis PERSON tweeted this out here. The media also talked to Vikings ORG director of college scouting. Mike, is it pronounced Shalaton PERSON? Sholitan PERSON. And he said, quote, one of the things that Walter Ruse PERSON talked about was he doesn't wantpancake blocks.

Speaker 11061.96s - 1064.34s

He wants waffle blocks.

Speaker 91065.34s - 1066.68s

I don't know what that was. He blocks. I don't know what that was.

Speaker 11066.78s - 1068.36s

He goes, I don't know what is that.

Speaker 61068.82s - 1073.78s

And he said waffles are when you pancake someone and then step on them.

Speaker 11076.84s - 1086.92s

And you know what? Waffles are super. People always, people just assume pancakes are just the go-to. Waffles are far superior than pancakes. I love me some waffles.

Speaker 31087.68s - 1088.72s

I think they both got their place.

Speaker 61088.84s - 1090.64s

Can I pull a Judd and put a third option in?

Speaker 31090.94s - 1091.72s

French toast.

Speaker 11091.72s - 1093.56s

Well, French NORP toast is superior.

Speaker 61093.92s - 1095.62s

That is, that's the Tom Brady PERSON.

Speaker 11095.88s - 1096.7s

That's the goat.

Speaker 61097.08s - 1097.28s

Okay.

Speaker 11097.32s - 1098s

That's the goat for me.

Speaker 61099s - 1099.24s

Yeah.

Speaker 11099.96s - 1101.74s

French NORP toast, a little bit more work, too.

Speaker 61102.84s - 1105.08s

Yeah, well, I mean, you order it and someone else can do the work.

Speaker 31105.14s - 1106.2s

Yeah, yeah, I don't make it.

Speaker 61106.24s - 1106.58s

That's true.

Speaker 31106.58s - 1111.98s

So here's my question about Walter Ruse PERSON is, okay, he's a tackle.

Speaker 61112.76s - 1115.3s

I did send 4-0-0-0.

Speaker 31115.4s - 1145.76s

I said, can he play some guard? He's like, not really. He's a tackle. So here's the question, though. He comes in as a swing guy. I mean, I'm guessing now he is a, what? He's a six-round pick, but I'm guessing he makes the roster. And I wonder if there is an eye towards, because, I mean, he's started a lot. He sounds like he's a pretty impressive, a smart guy, which, you know, the offensive line, the smarts are huge. You got to be intelligent. That's probably one of, along with

Speaker 61145.76s - 1150.16s

quarterback, the most important. He seems, he seems very intelligent. I think he's got, yeah,

Speaker 31150.2s - 1185.1s

I think he's got a medical background as well that he wants to get into that. But any, anyway, here's my question. Is this insurance, if they, A, can't reach an agreement with Darisaw ORG, which I'm not expecting. I don't expect that won't take place. But more importantly, you know, Brian O'Neill PERSON at this point in time, as far as his career goes, is not a kid. You know, he's torn his Achilles or at least partially.I wonder if this is a longer-term play as some type of just flat out insurance policy as well.

Speaker 61186.28s - 1187.18s

Yeah, I mean, throwing it out there. I don't think you.

Speaker 31187.18s - 1191.78s

Yeah, I think it's, well, I think it's, I think you're like two steps ahead here.

Speaker 61191.84s - 1195.56s

Like you draft him in the sixth round as a guy that you hope can make the team first.

Speaker 31195.9s - 1196.16s

Mm-hmm.

Speaker 61196.74s - 1198.6s

And you project some upside.

Speaker 31199.54s - 1206.48s

And if you were to lose Brian O'Neill and or Christian Derasaw PERSON because of contract or injury or age or whatever,

Speaker 61206.6s - 1210.9s

I don't know that like Walter Ruse PERSON is at the top of their list right now

Speaker 51210.9s - 1213.24s

because there's a reason why he was a six-round pick.

Speaker 61213.34s - 1237.36s

But it is interesting. Again, the Vikings ORG, they went to some big-time colleges and then they took an FCS ORG kid, which we'll get to. But it's like, it's a lot of Alabama, Oregon, Stanford ORG, just big time, Michigan GPE.'ll get to. But it's like, it's a lot of Alabama, Oregon, Stanford, just big time, Michigan. Yep.He allowed zero sacks at Oklahoma in 2023 in 481 pass block snaps. Yeah.

Speaker 31237.56s - 1239.44s

And that ain't that ain't FCS ORG, man.

Speaker 61239.58s - 1259.1s

That ain't that's not matching on Tuesdays. That's Oklahoma ORG. So that's pretty impressive right there. But there's also a reason why he wasn't a second round pick. There was nine offensive linemen taken in the first round. So we'll see.I think step one make the team. But yeah, he's a really interesting prospect.

Speaker 11259.82s - 1259.9s

Yeah.

Speaker 61259.9s - 1293.22s

Anytime you lose like, and whether it's for a game or two, which we have seen injuries to Derrassad PERSON that are, that are, you know, could linger for a game. Like, you just, you need options because the moment you lose one of your starting tackles, and especially in the Vikings case where they're lucky enough where they have probably obviously two of the top, you know, 15 to 20 tackles in the NFL, I think having one of those guys on the bench that can come in and be your swing guy that isn't, you know, Rashad Hill PERSON could have actually made a pretty decent career here. But you feel probably a lot better about a guy who went to Oklahoma ORG, was a four-year starter, was really dang good, smart as hell. I think just having the luxury of having that as a security blanket does feel pretty good.

Speaker 31293.7s - 1303.46s

I think you got five guys, five of the seven guys that they drafted, who are going to vie for 53 man spots. And I think it ends at the sixth round.

Speaker 61304.72s - 1308.18s

So you think the next two guys we're going to talk about are probably just

Speaker 31308.18s - 1309.5s

practice squad type of guys.

Speaker 61309.82s - 1309.98s

Yeah.

Speaker 31310.6s - 1312.06s

Well, let's throw these guys out here.

Speaker 61312.16s - 1351.22s

And I'll throw another shout out too. If you're just joining us, it looks like we're up to almost 2,000, 2,500 people simultaneously here, listening to us talk about sixth round tackles, which we love you guys.We appreciate you guys. Declan PERSON will turn this into a ventline session. Vikingsventline at gmail.com. If you want to jump in, Vikingsventline at gmail.com. With the 230th pick, a seventh round pick, the Vikings took Interior Offensive Lyman Michael Juergens from Wake Forest ORG.So Thor did not have him ranked in his 500. And the consensus board had him 446.

Speaker 31352.3s - 1353.72s

Yeah, this was a weird one.

Speaker 61353.72s - 1411.6s

So this was like an, this was a UDFA. This is how you use your seventh round. To me, this was a UDFA that they had as a priority UDFA, that they didn't want to compete with the rest of the league and they just, and they took him. Six years in college, mostly at center and then he switched to left guard last season at Wake Forest ORG.And PFF loved him as a left guard at Wake Forest ORG. He only allowed seven pressures in 450 plus pass blocking snaps. So, and he's a big guy. He's six foot four and a half, 3707 pounds, which is pretty tall for a center. But you, like, I mean, Alex Boom was a guard at 6 foot 8,so you can be a tall guard. Right. But I wonder, like, is he a guy that they're looking at? Probably, I mean, like you said, he's fighting for a roster spot as a seventh round pick. But is he a guy that they,he played mostly center until last year, but maybe playing guard is what got him drafted? Is he a guard? Is he just a swing guy across the middle? We don't really know.

Speaker 31411.6s - 1460.02s

The scouting report that the league produces basically said he's a center, which because I thought the same thing. And there's no question they had to at least draft him with the thought that he could be a swing guy. But somewhat concerningly, the scouting report also said he struggles to hold up against, like, defensive tackles.Like for his size, I would think that he's a mauler, that he just absolutely ends the careers of defensive linemen. And he doesn't even come close. Yeah, this one was, this one was curious. The only thing I can guess is that the offensive line coach and coaches liked his film and said, we'll cut him, we'll resign him to the practice squad and give us a year to work with him. That's the only thing I could figure. Yeah.

Speaker 61460.6s - 1485.4s

Yeah. The other interesting thing is I'm looking at his Raz PRODUCT breakdown, his relative athletic score. So on a zero to 10, he was a 7.62 RAZ score, which is fine. It's not a train rack. It's not off the charts. But he graded really high in the vertical and the broad jump. So like his explosion grade, which is a sector of the RAS score, was very high.

Speaker 01487.2s - 1491.38s

His weight was a little like 307 when compared to some of the other interior

Speaker 91491.38s - 1492.9s

offensive linemen was a little low.

Speaker 01493.02s - 1494.6s

And then his bench reps were low.

Speaker 61494.76s - 1513.7s

Only only. Right. I'm throwing stones in a glass house here. Only 22 bench reps. There's some other guys that get into the 30s. Like there's some guys that got to like upper 30s on the bench reps.So I don't know. Just a seventh round pick with some potential to maybe make the practice squad there.

Speaker 31513.7s - 1530.96s

His size would make you think that he dominated the bench though. That's what I found like didn't make sense to me was like this guy sounds like he should be a bleep kicker. And it doesn't sound like he is but perhaps they've said you know what we'll get him stronger yeah uh and then

Speaker 61530.96s - 1553.82s

the last pick that the vikings made is one of the more interesting ones it was the seventh rounder number 232 defensive tackle levi drake rodriguez from texas aM Commerce, which is an FCS ORG school. I think a recent FCS ORG school, too. I was looking up on Wikipedia ORG. I believe they were Division II as recently as a few years ago.

Speaker 91554.88s - 1558.02s

On the consensus, Big Board, he was 376.

Speaker 61558.02s - 1635.4s

So another guy that was probably going to be a UDFA that had some competition. The Vikings ORG decided now we're just going to draft you 6 foot 4, 290 pounds. I happen to have the volume up on the ESPN ORG panel when they made this pick. And, you know, they're just flying through a bunch of different things. And they stop. And they don't break down every single player in succession, but they literally like made a point to talk about him for like two or three minutes. Right. And Field Yates and Mel Kuyper love this pick for the Vikings ORG. They called him a major potential sleeper, one of the best defensive linemen in, in FCS ORG. So again, I don't know, a development guy for sure. Now, I read the Forno PERSON write up, I think that he just posted like 20 minutes ago. And he, you know, he said, yeah, whatever. It's like it's number 232. Doesn't love his explosiveness. But the fact that Field Yates PERSON and Mel Kiper Jr. kind of stopped what they were doing to say, oh, yes.Somebody took our guy, Levi Drake Rodriguez PERSON. And Field was even saying they were on a call together at one point, just kind of testing each other on their draft knowledge. And Field Yates was like throwing out a call together at one point, just kind of testing each other on their draft knowledge. And Field Yates was like throwing out a bunch of facts about Levi-Drake Rodriguez PERSON. And Mel Kiper PERSON was like matching him fact for fact or something. So interesting pick with their last pick.

Speaker 31635.86s - 1637.36s

It was a draft info off.

Speaker 61637.44s - 1637.78s

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 51638.08s - 1638.9s

Oh, man.

Speaker 31639.08s - 1641.42s

Field Yates challenging Mel PERSON. Oh, God.

Speaker 61641.52s - 1651.18s

I bet that was good. I bet that got competitive. So, yeah. So that's the class. Levi-Drake Rodriguez, the defensive tackle from Texas A&M Commerce ORG, rounding it out.

Speaker 31651.72s - 1652.88s

So how do we feel?

Speaker 61652.88s - 1659.12s

Of that class, how many guys do you expect to set foot on the field for the regular

Speaker 31659.12s - 1661.24s

season opener next season?

Speaker 61662.28s - 1666.02s

Like on the, just having made the 53. Yeah.

Speaker 31666.02s - 1668.7s

And actually contribute, but contribute.

Speaker 61668.7s - 1670.14s

A week one, a week one impact.

Speaker 31670.62s - 1671.76s

Yep. They're playing. Week one.

Speaker 61671.86s - 1676s

Week one impact. Well, week one impact, Dallas Turner. Yep.

Speaker 31676.08s - 1676.22s

Yep.

Speaker 81676.38s - 1679.28s

I don't know that J.J. McCarthy is a week one impact.

Speaker 61679.44s - 1679.94s

We'll have to see.

Speaker 51680.56s - 1690.56s

He's on, they, they, so he's on an individual performance plan essentially where he, there's some certain boxes he needs to check to develop to be put into the fire.

Speaker 81691.2s - 1698.8s

Does it even feel like and I love that we're just having overreactions here on April 27th still for a half months from the season opener?

Speaker 11698.8s - 1704s

But like as of now, would you expect J.J. McCarthy to be inactive for a week one behind Sam Darnold PERSON?

Speaker 61704.8s - 1715.06s

It would be maybe potentially Darnold and like Mullen PERSON's. Jaron Hall or Mollins PERSON and then they would deactivate. If he's the, he'd probably be the QB2.

Speaker 31715.06s - 1738.62s

I was going to say, I think if he's inactive, that actually means that they, that they are disappointed, I think you'd be QB2. Okay. I think you'd be QB2. But, but, but this gets back to, I just don't thinkSam Darnold PERSON should expect to see O'Connell PERSON much because that individual plan is going to include one tutor and his name is Kevin O'Connell.

Speaker 51739.08s - 1742.42s

But Josh McCowan PERSON, don't you think Josh McCown PERSON is going to be?

Speaker 31742.42s - 1772.02s

I do, but I'm just saying, like it's very clear now that Josh McAllen and Kevin O'Connell are going to go into the lab with JJ PERSON. And it's going to be, that's going to be the key here. But I think Dallas Turner PERSON, now Turner might be a situational guy early. I could see him being a third down guy and not being a first and second down guy. And Will Reichard PERSON, to me,makes the team.

Speaker 61772.6s - 1773.52s

And he'll be important.

Speaker 91773.74s - 1774.66s

Like, you can't put that down.

Speaker 61774.78s - 1791.86s

I just, I think he is far better chance to succeed because he's going to get the support and it's not going to be a gong show. How much fun is it that we get a three-month kicking battle now? OTAs, mini camp, training camp. We get a three-month kicking battle now? OTAs, mini-camp, training camp, we get a full-on off-season kicking battle. Don't you think? Are they going to cut

Speaker 31791.86s - 1796.72s

the XFL guy? I think they'll, no, I think they'll start off with a battle, but I don't think it's

Speaker 61796.72s - 1802.12s

going to last that long. Do you think the XFL guy makes it to training camp? Yes, but I think he

Speaker 31802.12s - 1805.14s

gets cut early. Okay.

Speaker 11806.78s - 1810.62s

Hey, by the way, I think we're getting some of, some of the UDFA's already trickling in for the Vikings ORG.

Speaker 31810.62s - 1810.64s

Oh, yeah.

Speaker 61811.1s - 1813.86s

These deals have been done for like two days in some cases.

Speaker 11814.16s - 1814.32s

Right.

Speaker 61814.46s - 1819.08s

So, uh, Bo Richter to the Vikings ORG with a P5 guarantee

Speaker 11819.08s - 1823.1s

an Air Force linebacker per Aaron Wilson of NFL ORG. That is such a football name.

Speaker 61823.18s - 1823.98s

Did Thor PERSON bring him up?

Speaker 11824.4s - 1825.46s

I thought it sounds familiar. But that is,. Did Thor PERSON bring him up? It sounds familiar.

Speaker 31826.18s - 1833.22s

But that is probably. Wait, Richter PERSON? Bo Richter PERSON. No, that was, that was, what was the offensive?

Speaker 61833.46s - 1838.12s

Well, Bo Limmer PERSON. Bo Limer from Arkansas ORG. Yeah. Who was kind of falling, by the way.

Speaker 31838.16s - 1843.56s

He was kind of falling today. That was the ball I remember. Bo Richter PERSON is a great football name, though.

Speaker 61843.56s - 1850s

So confirmed the Vikings already have at least one agreement on a UDFA? Correct.

Speaker 11850.32s - 1850.62s

Okay.

Speaker 61850.9s - 1851.22s

Correct.

Speaker 11852.76s - 1856.08s

Yeah, that'll be that, so that's going to be the next 24 hours where they're going to fill out.

Speaker 61856.16s - 1871.64s

And by the way, like they got Ivan Pace PERSON, who was one of their best defensive players after the draft was over. They gave him a big, in some cases, you can actually get a bigger signing bonus as a UDFA because there's actually a market for you than you would if you were drafted.

Speaker 91872.32s - 1874.66s

So I think, by the way, back to Judd PERSON's question.

Speaker 61874.84s - 1910.3s

I agree. I do think the Alabama kicker, Riker PERSON, I think he probably has the edge because you spent a draft pick on him. I think Kyrie Jackson, the fact that he's 25 years old, six foot three, at the very least, a special teamer that makes the team. So I don't think he like starts as an outside corner. But I think he's on the team. And then we're going to have to see on like Walter Ruse PERSON. He's not starting for you unless there's an injury or something crazy happens. Right. So, yeah, I'm kind of shocked. They didn't make a trade.Quasi PERSON loves trading. You just sat there and made his picks.

Speaker 31910.42s - 1950.26s

You know what? Some folks will complain about this draft. They traded too much. They lost too many draft picks. They didn't have enough draft picks. I'm not complaining about this draft.I would far rather, I'm not a Spielman PERSON guy. I don't need 17 names. You know, I've, with what they accomplished in the first round. Now, ideally, perfect world, you probably do have a second and or at least third round pick, right? I'll acknowledge that. But with what they accomplished in the first round, which I think is potentially absolutely enormous. It's huge. I have no problem with this draft. I'm not going to complain about this draft.

Speaker 61950.66s - 1955.5s

Dex PERSON just sent us some more UDFA information. Will Raggitz from, is he still SI ORG?

Speaker 31955.82s - 1957.76s

Cover the Vikings ORG. Yep, SI.com ORG.

Speaker 61958.76s - 1969.9s

And this is interesting. So UCLA edge rusher, Gabriel Murphy, reportedly, now he was 111 on the consensus board. That's weird.

Speaker 11969.9s - 1973.26s

And there's 250 some draft picks.

Speaker 61973.76s - 1975.82s

And they get him as a UDFA.

Speaker 11976.12s - 1981.82s

Arkansas cornerback Dwight McLaughern, 189 on the consensus board.

Speaker 61981.82s - 2018.06s

They get him as a UDFA. And then, yeah, Air Force linebacker, Bo Richter, Arizona ORG defensive lineman, Tyler Minoa PERSON. So it's always interesting when you see guys that are like 11,150 on the consensus board. And so they're like 130 slots displaced as UDFAs. But that's what people said about Ivan Pace correctly. They're like, really? This is literally the best linebacker in college football.I know the positions kind of devalued in 2020, but there's not a spot in three days of drafting for this dude. And yeah, he's a starter.

Speaker 12018.18s - 2020.4s

He's one of the better players they have on defense.

Speaker 62020.78s - 2021.98s

And Gabriel Murphy PERSON, by the way,

Speaker 12021.98s - 2027.1s

was the top UDFA per the consensus boards after this

Speaker 62027.1s - 2027.8s

draft completed.

Speaker 12028.14s - 2029.42s

So the draft ended.

Speaker 62029.82s - 2030s

Mr.

Speaker 12030s - 2030.72s

Relevant PERSON was made.

Speaker 32031.24s - 2035.44s

The top UDFA in terms of the consensus board for Marie Fassan was Gabriel Murphy PERSON.

Speaker 62036.06s - 2037.64s

So that's a good crazy.

Speaker 12037.98s - 2042.64s

So that's an interesting one because what that is, and this goes back to Rick PERSON, I think,

Speaker 32042.72s - 2043.24s

as well.

Speaker 12043.68s - 2048.5s

The wills, so this shows what teams will spend and what teams don't like to spend

Speaker 32048.5s - 2080.78s

because these guys, when they're signed, aren't subject to the cap, right? Because the cap is what, the estimate of the top 55 or something like that? So because of that, you could actually just spend on these guys. And the Vikings ORG have always been open to this. But, but I mean, you get a guy like Pace PERSON or in this case, a guy like this kid because of the fact that you can go to him and say, hey, here's what the offer is where teams likethe Bengals ORG will try and nickel and dime them.

Speaker 62081.02s - 2112.72s

Yep. And I've heard too,, just behind the scenes, some of these UDFA conversations literally start before the draft, that if there's a kid that is maybe outside the top 100, you think he's probably getting a drafted, but just in case, like, these conversations are being planted the week leading up to Thursday and Friday.Sure. And that's why this stuff happens so fast, where the draft gets over and then boom, there's like the draft just ended a second ago. And the Vikings already have like six UDFAs under contract.

Speaker 32112.72s - 2122.28s

You mean it's like free agency? You used to be when we'd be omitted in to the signing period and guys would sign and we'd be like, how did that happen? They just made the phone call.

Speaker 62122.52s - 2123.46s

Yes. Yeah.

Speaker 32124.06s - 2124.24s

Yeah.

Speaker 62125.12s - 2146.8s

So there it is. And yeah, we'll throw one more. We got some people jumping in the room here for Ventline with Declan, VikingsVentline at Gmail.com. If you want to jump on Purple Daily ORG here and sling some post draft takes, Vikingsventline at Gmail.com and Dex PERSON can get some of you guys in.So any final thoughts, Judd PERSON, from you here. Schedule time. Schedule time.

Speaker 32148s - 2158.86s

Schedule time. We just move on. During the page. Purple Daily ORG does not take a break. That does not take a breath. What it does is...Primetime. Thursday, May, whatever.

Speaker 92159.26s - 2164.4s

I'm going to tell you right now, look for a Judd mock next week. Yes.

Speaker 62165.36s - 2167.8s

How about Tuesday? Tuesday would be great.

Speaker 32168.1s - 2169.14s

Okay. Sure. Yeah,

Speaker 62169.2s - 2169.46s

whenever.

Speaker 32169.62s - 2170.86s

You want to mock the schedule Tuesday?

Speaker 62171.16s - 2175.2s

I'll start tomorrow because I got to formulate and then look at some of the dates.

Speaker 32175.2s - 2177.12s

I was going to say, it's 48 hours.

Speaker 12177.24s - 2184.2s

Is that like too much time where you're going to look at it? You're going to make it. And there's too many additions and too many situations where you're going to change the schedule.

Speaker 32184.36s - 2192.72s

No. You're sitting on it for 48 hours. No, because I'll mock it. I'll mock it again then right before it comes out. Oh, so we're going to get two.

Speaker 82193.08s - 2193.54s

May,

Speaker 62193.54s - 2198.2s

May 9th appears to be the projected day. Is that Thursday?

Speaker 32198.52s - 2198.86s

Yes.

Speaker 12199.42s - 2200.12s

Because I believe.

Speaker 62200.12s - 2201.02s

That's typically what they've done.

Speaker 12201.16s - 2201.78s

It is.

Speaker 62201.84s - 2202.78s

I believe if you look,

Speaker 12202.78s - 2206.18s

2023, a Thursday was May 13th.

Speaker 32206.18s - 2230.66s

Same thing. Because if you go back a couple of years, it used to come out in April before the draft. No, not anymore. But I mean,we got to pick an opener. We got to pick primetime games. Because now that you know, and now that McCarthy PERSON's there, and who knows who's going to start a, you know, there's a lot of unknowns here. That Falcons ORG game still looms large. The question now is who starts, Pennix or Cousins PERSON.

Speaker 62232.28s - 2235.2s

Dude, I'm telling you, man, it's going to be,

Speaker 32235.32s - 2241.14s

somebody else pointed out, too. Who the hell was it? Somebody, was it, uh, it Chris Sims PERSON?

Speaker 62241.26s - 2247s

Somebody pointed out on Twitter that think about this. Cousins is going to be, he's not going to be full steam for OTA's mini camps because he's coming back from Achilles. It's Chris Sims. Somebody pointed out on Twitter that think about this. Cousins is going to be, he's not going to be full steam for OTAs ORG's mini-camps

Speaker 72247s - 2249.04s

because he's coming back from an Achilles. It's Chris Sims PERSON.

Speaker 62249.44s - 2255.54s

And Michael Pennix is going to be just, he's going to be taking the reps with the ones throwing piss missiles all over the field,

Speaker 22255.54s - 2262.82s

building chemistry. Like tweeted exactly that. He's going to be, he's going to be, but it's true. And think about if Cousins PERSON like does scuffle.

Speaker 32263.78s - 2269.72s

Yeah, it's going to be hilarious. We want panics. I mean, it rolls off the tone.
