Speaker 930.08s - 46.8s

All right, another frustrating loss for Miami last night, losing to the Giants ORG in game. One of this three games set, Steven Strom Marlins ORG rewind. As always for the recap, here's your radio voice of the Miami Marlins, Kyle Seeloff PERSON. Another very unfortunate ending for the Marlins this season.

Speaker 1147.66s - 52.66s

Tonight mark the Marlins' sixth blown lead loss this year.

Speaker 953.74s - 58.4s

And they fall to the San Francisco Giants in game one by a final score of four to three.

Speaker 1158.52s - 79.64s

This is the 10th inning show. It's brought to you by Warner Hoffman, Greg, and Garcia PERSON, your trusted workers' compensation and personal injury lawyers. Gabby Sanchez, back with me now to break down this 4-3 Giants ORG victory. We'll start with a good Gabby, and we will start with Edward Carrera PERSON, who was brilliant in his 2024 debut, six strong innings, one run, five hits, one walk, and ten punchouts.

Speaker 1079.8s - 122.82s

Oh, you say good. I say great, because, I mean, he was just absolutely filthy today. And the biggest thing was, of course, throwing that ball across the plate, a lot of strikes, a lot of first pitch strikes, which is really nice to see. When you go out there and you pitch the way that he did, go six inning, strikeout 10. And it was very easy for him.He had one inning where he could have exploded. He could have given up a whole bunch. He stayed poised on the mound, which is growth in him, which we haven't seen in years past, usually in those kind of situations. He starts to get erratic. We didn't see that today, so that was really, really nice to see. This was an unbelievable first star for Cabrera PERSON. Offensively,

Speaker 11123.82s - 135.66s

Avi Garcia went deep leading off the second. Then the Marlins got the two out two run double from Brian Dela Cruz PERSON. Unfortunately, that is all. Again, that's been a theme this season. A lot of early run support, and then they just come up empty the rest of the way.

Speaker 10135.66s - 204.86s

And that's kind of what we've seen. And when you're a team and you've been struggling, those add-on runs are huge. When you get guys in scoring position, you have to be able to get them in. And we've seen it plenty where the Marlins go out there and they score four runs, five runs in one inning, and that is it. That's all you're getting. You're going to get four. You're going to get five. It's going to be in one inning. And then that's it.We're not going to tack on any runs. That's what this team, in my opinion, needs to do a better job of. Right. It's tacking on those runs. And we used to talk about, you know, with a pitcher on the ropes, you know, put that foot right on that neck and just keep pushing and pushing down. You know, get him out of that ballgame. Don't let them even breathe for one second. Continue adding the pressure. That's what I want to see this team continue to do. When you get into certain situations, I want to see Jazz PERSON run a little bit more. Right. You know, he had a couple chances where he could have stolen the bases early. One time he finally did, but it was already with two outs. It's a little bit different with nobody out or one out and a guy had second base than it is with two outs and the guy get into second base. It's that one extra batter, maybe that one slatter that they don't want to bury down into the dirt

Speaker 7204.86s - 210.26s

because then you're going to move over. So there's certain little things where you can see the growth of

Speaker 10210.26s - 226s

the team. You can see the play getting a lot better. It's just having those other little moments where you're adding on that one extra run in that fourth or fifth inning because of a sack flyer or moving the guy over. Those things, that's what's going to get take this team to

Speaker 11226s - 230.36s

that next step now skip was ejected for the first time this season it was in the eighth inning

Speaker 10230.36s - 237.64s

that there was some controversy um but i will say the bottom line is that the marlin's bullpen

Speaker 11237.64s - 267.06s

has struggled mightily okay they allowed three runs in the top of the seventh inning um cabrera allowed the one run of the fourth. So controversy aside, whether it was right or wrong, whoever was right or wrong, whether a skipper is right or wrong, it doesn't matter. The bullpen has got to start to hold up their end of the bargain. And look, Gabby, I understand that Skip has said all the right things. He has said, I have to do a better job of finding the right roles and the right spots. It's no longer on Skip. He's putting these guys in the right spots, and they're just not holding it up their end of the bargain right now. It's no longer on skip. He's putting these guys in the right spots and they're just not holding it up their end of the bargain right now.

Speaker 10267.22s - 275.32s

It's not him. When you're going out there and it's just a consistent thing, he's putting guys in to be successful in their certain spots.

Speaker 11275.5s - 301.74s

And he's doing it. It's not his fault. And he's going to take all the blame for it because he wants to take all the blame for it. That's what type of a manager he is. He's not a manager that just says, oh, nope, these guys think and it's their fault. It's not myfault. I'm doing everything perfect. No, hey, we lost. It's on me. We win. It's on you. That's how he manages games. But really, when you're a player, the game's over, you look at yourself in that mirror

Speaker 10301.74s - 305.68s

and you say, whose fault really was it? And you know what?

Speaker 0308.04s - 308.2s

If you're a man enough to admit it was me,

Speaker 10310.6s - 312.6s

then it's something that you work forward towards and you try to get yourself better

Speaker 0312.6s - 314.38s

and put yourself in the better mindset

Speaker 10314.38s - 316s

to kind of get those three outs.

Speaker 11316.58s - 336.46s

And look, controversy aside as well, to me, it was almost the tipping point and Skip had to release emotion and and this cannot continue to happen. And we've got to find a way to win games instead of finding ways to lose them. So, Marlins lose four to three tonight. We'll see if they can bounce back tomorrow night.Jordan Hicks will take on Ryan Weathers, and I'll see you then, Gabby PERSON.

Speaker 7336.58s - 337.38s

All right, see tomorrow.

Speaker 11337.58s - 710.92s

All right, that's Gabby Sanchez PERSON. I'm Kyle Seeloff PERSON. Let's take a listen to the highlights from this ball game. Scoreless going to the bottom of the second. Tonight, Kyle Harrison was going opposite of Eddie Cabrera PERSON, who was making his 2024 debut, and it was Avi Garcia that would give the Marlins ORG an early lead. The first offering to Garcia PERSON said high and deep left field. This thing is crushed, and it is gone. Avi Garcia, his second home run of the season. It's 1-0 Miami here in the second. So Garcia gave the Marlins a 1-0 lead with two outs in the second. We had consecutive singles from Otto Lopez making his Marlins ORG debut and Luis Arise PERSON. And that's at the table for Brian Dela Cruz PERSON. Otto Lopez is at second, arises at first. Here's a swing of the line, drive in the air, left field, off the bat of Brian De La Cruz PERSON. Hot comes getting four, he dives, he can't get it, and it gets by him.Lopez scores, arise rounds third. Here comes a throw, not in time. Dela Cruz takes off for third. He'll arrive in safely there. It's three, nothing, Miami ORG. And unfortunately, that is all the Marlins would get in this ball game tonight. It felt for a while like that would be good enough for a victory. Edward Cabrera PERSON was rolling. He had faced the minimum through the first three innings. He would get hurt by a lead-off walk in the fourth with a couple of men on base and won away in the inning of Michael Conforto PERSON at the plate. Now the U-1-1. And that has hit on a line out towards second base, past the diving Luis arise. Lee will score, throw it a second not in time, so Laird had to hold up for a second. It's an RBI single for Michael Conforto PERSON. This is a 3-1 game in favor of the Marlins here in the 4. Eddie Cabrera went six innings tonight in his season debut,a lot of run, five hits, one walk, ten strikeouts. Kyle Harrison went six innings. A lot of three runs, eight hits, one walk, and two strikeouts for the San Francisco Giants. So this was a three-one game in favor of the Marlins ORG going all the way into the top of the seventh inning tonight. And George Soriano came into pitch for the Miami Marlins ORG. The first man he faced was Matt Chapman PERSON. Chapman PERSON lined out to the center fielder Jazz Chisholm Jr.who made a sensational diving catch for the first out of the inning. But then there was a double and a walk and with two aboard and one out. The catcher Patrick Bailey PERSON, the switch hitter was at the dish. Double play depth up the middle line drive drive in the air, deep left field. Dela Cruz PERSON backing up makes the catch. Tagging from third and scoring is Estrada PERSON.Throw comes in towards second. It's a sacrifice fly for Patrick Bailey PERSON. Now it's a Miami three in San Francisco, two in the seventh. So at that juncture, there was one on and two out. The next batter was Nick Ahmed PERSON. He walked. That four skip Schumacher PERSON's hand. He brought Andrew Nardy into face Jung Hu Lee PERSON, and Lee PERSON tied this puppy up. Three, the two-two pitches lined through the left side to base hit. That's going to tie the game. Scoring from second base is Yistremski PERSON.Throat comes in towards second base. We are tied at three on the two-out RBI single from Jung-Hoo-Lee PERSON. And then after Lee, it was Wilmer Flores facing Nardy. and base. We are tied at three on the two-out RBI single from Jung Hu Lee PERSON. And then after Lee, it was Wilmer Flores facing Nardi, a lefty-righty matchup that would put the Giants ORG ahead for good. O2. That is swung on in line. Into center field, that's a base hit, and the Giants ORG are going to take the lead. He jammed them up at him with a fastball. Flores kept his hands in on that heater. And the Giants have their first lead of the night. They have scored four unanswered. And the Marlins would come up empty in the seventh. Let's move along to the bottom of the eighth inning because that's when controversy struck, per se. Marlins were trailing four to three. Ryan Walker was pitching for the Giants ORG. He allowed a one-out single, the Jazz Chisholm Jr.Then he struck out Avi Garcia PERSON looking. There were two outs. And at that point, Skip Schumacher sent Nick Gordon PERSON to the plate. So the left-handed hitter and the pinch hitter was announced into the game. Bob Melvin PERSON came out of the dugout. He appeared to basically say, I want my righty Doval PERSON to come in.The umpires even signaled for a right-handed pitcher to come into the game. However, it was Taylor Rogers PERSON, the lefty that came in. Rogers is the one that came out of the bullpen. And to my understanding, unless I'm totally wrong on this, he had essentially announced himself into the game. He had essentially announced himself into the game. Roger PERSON should not be able, even with miscommunication, to walk right back out into the bullpen and then allow for Deval PERSON to come in.And I think it was a ginormous, egregious error by the umpiring crew. We will get further clarification on that coming up shortly. Now, so the umpires let Doval PERSON come into the game. And then as he was facing nick gordon before the first pitch was thrown the clock apparently had hit zero that ticked off skip schubacher PERSON even further he came out and continued to give las diez PERSON an earful who finally just threw him out of the game uh but las diezby the way on the original miscommunication with the bullpen situation for the giants he continued to let Skip just rail into him over and over and over again, which led me to at least believe at the time. The umpiring crew know that they had got this thing wrong. So we'll see. I think Skip is rather animated downstairs tonight. I look forward to hearing from him shortly. Bottom line, San Francisco led four to three. They got nothing in the top of the ninth inning in Doval, allowed a chewout single to got nothing in the top of the ninth inning. And Doval allowed a two-out single to Luis arise in the bottom of the ninth inning. And then Brian Dale LaCruz PERSON struck out in the ball game was over. So for San Francisco tonight, four runs, eight hits, two errors, seven men left on base. And for the Marlins, three runs, ten hits, no errors, eight men left on base.Harrison, the winning pitcher, he's two and one. Soriano PERSON, the loser, he's O and one. Doval, his second save of the season for the Giants ORG. Total time of game, two hours and 36 minutes. The Giants improved to 7 and 10. The Marlins fall to 3 and 14. On the mound for the Marlins tonight, Eddie Cabrera struck out 10. Brian Hoeing PERSON punched out two, and that means that $300 will be donated to AutoNation's Drive PinkInitiative to fight against cancer for every strikeout this season. $25 will be donated to AutoNation's Drive Pink Initiative to fight against cancer for every strikeout this season. $25 will be donated to the Drive Pink Initiative ORG.

Speaker 9711.72s - 736.54s

Okay, Kyle PERSON, thank you. Skip Schumacher was ejected in this game, and there was a ton of drama that happened. The Giants tried to make a pitching change for Rogers PERSON. They wanted to put in Duvall PERSON. A whole bunch of stuff started getting screwed up. Skip Schumacher wanted the count to Nick Gordon to be 1 and 0 and said it was no balls, no strikes. Skip ends upgetting kicked out. So let's head down to listen to a very emotional Skip Schumacher PERSON after the loss.

Speaker 3736.54s - 741.5s

Can you give us a little clarification on what happened there in the 8th? I'd love to get clarification.

Speaker 8742.94s - 823.22s

He called for a righty, a lefty came out, Rogers PERSON came out. Obviously, they wanted Deval out there, and Deval wasn't coming out. There was extra time, obviously, because once you signal, you're supposed to start the clock and come out. Rogers comes out, the clock starts. He called the wrong guy or the wrong guy came out. I don't know exactly what happened, but that clock starts. It's not my fault that the wrong pitcher came out. DeVall should be coming out right behind himif they called the wrong pitcher. He got an extra couple minutes to get loose, which that is, we have been called for ball one many times when our pitchers are getting extra pitches in the bullpen. So we even get a ball called on Gordon PERSON.It should have been ball one. And he should not have gotten extra pitches. So I'm still trying to figure out what happened. Guys make mistakes and calling different arms. I got no problem with the mistake or whatever it was, a miscommunication. I don't care about that.I care about what happened after that. At the very minimum, it should have been 1-0. And I'm still not sure why they think they were right. It's okay. If you're wrong, just it's fine. But I just don't understand why what just happened. I should not have been tossed for that. It's ridiculous.

Speaker 3823.64s - 827.14s

And the umpires didn't give you any clarification. Like what was their justification of that?

Speaker 8827.18s - 830.84s

Looking forward to it. Is that the first time you've seen something like that?

Speaker 2830.86s - 839.52s

Never seen it before. Again, there's mix-up, miscommunication at time, at times about bullpen, you know, who's coming in.

Speaker 8839.6s - 847.12s

I was in the World Series in Texas when Larusa called for a different guy. That happens and I'm okay with

Speaker 2847.12s - 868.82s

some communication part. When Brian Price PERSON walks out to the mound, obviously there was miscommunication with who was coming in. That's okay. That happens. We're allowed to make mistakes as coaches and managers or whatever. But the fact that they got extra time, I have an issue with with the umpires. For the game of Cabrera, just one of the best outings seen for him?

Speaker 8869.12s - 902.86s

Yeah, Cabby PERSON was awesome. Six innings, ten punchies, one walk. I think the only run scored was the walk. Of course, of course that happens. But, yeah, he was, I mean, we get that out of Cabby PERSON. We're going to win a lot more games.Tough that we don't get the win after such a great outing by Cabby PERSON. He was just against a good lineup. Right, he's left. He's up and down the lineup. He was as good as I've ever seen him, honestly. And you didn't know what you're going to get because his first time out of a rehab assignment. And he was excellent.

Speaker 4903.14s - 911.14s

In the context of where the pitching step is with injuries, people sick, not just to have them hopefully be some reason that's moving forward.

Speaker 8911.82s - 961.04s

Yeah, we need guys to step up and provide some innings. And he provided six innings. If we get our starters to go six innings and do that, you know, we'll be okay. We have to obviously get the roles figured out in the bullpen. I'm not doing a good job of putting the guys in the right spot, obviously, because we're not, you know, completing the game with a win.So I have to figure out exactly. There's a couple guys that were down today that I couldn't use. But that's going to happen, and these guys are going to have to, you know, be in roles that, you know, maybe they're not used to. But, you know, we've got to figure out, Soriano PERSON, I still think is going to happen. And these guys are going to have to be in roles that maybe they're not used to. But we've got to figure out Soriano PERSON. I still think it's going to be really good. He's had a rough start. But we need him to be good if we're going to get to where he want to be. And same with Nardi PERSON. We're going to depend on these guys the next five months. So we have to figure out how to get them back on track.

Speaker 4961.28s - 965.28s

With Soriano PERSON, is that anything you're able to pinpoint with why he's had a rough time this last?

Speaker 8965.28s - 988.5s

It's honestly, it's ball one, ball two. I mean, he's behind counts, so he can't get to the slider. And so I think that, you know, there was a ball that he might have, I know, I couldn't see it on from my angle. I don't know if he threw it behind yaws or close or whatever it was, the fastball. But, I mean, that's when he, if he's pulling it that hard, you know, there's somethingobviously mechanically that we can't, we haven't figured out yet. And we got to figure that out to get him right.

Speaker 2988.78s - 995.04s

With the offense, you guys get the three quick runs in the second inning and not be able to tap on. What did you see from from your guys at play?

Speaker 8995.88s - 1056.26s

Well, Rai's had a great day. Terrible hair going on. But, no, I love him. He can wear it. As long as he gets three hits, he can have whatever he wants out there. He's amazing. He's my favorite. I love the guy. But wear it. As long as he gets three hits, he can have whatever he wants out there. He's amazing. He's my favorite. I love the guy. But, yeah, he obviously started out awesome today. Fantastic. You know, even the last hit against Deval PERSON, who's, you know, obviously extremely tough. When the better closers in the game, Dela PERSON's been on fire, love seeing him with guys on base.Even his outs were, you know, good outs. The fly ball to deep right, you know, was a really good swing. Avi him with guys on base. Even his outs were good outs, the fly ball to deep right. You know, it was a really good swing. Avi with a nice hit. But yeah, the Homer PERSON, I thought auto took some good at bats. But yeah, I think the insurance runs are, you know, what we need to figure out and how to, you know, get those middle relievers and get a couple added runs. We have the chance to do it.But, you know, we, another tough loss. I mean, it's just what it is. And we had to lead late and couldn't hold on, and we got to figure out how to hold on.

Speaker 51057.32s - 1063.1s

Just a giant step forward. Jazz PERSON is showing you in center field. Outs team from training, you mentioned it, how different it is and just the seat of the regular season, how amazing he's been out there.

Speaker 81064.3s - 1114.34s

That play in the seventh to lead off the inning was not many guys get to that ball. I mean, he is, now he's just a center fielder. I don't think of him as, like, a guy that made a change to center field. It just feels like he's just a center fielderand a really good one. He's also putting together some really good at batts against some lefties. I mean, a couple more hits today, and, you know, he's turning himself to an everyday player, which he's trying to, he's tried to convince me he's an everyday player.Let me face lefties. And, you know, we're giving him the shot, and he's doing it. He's doing a good job. Even the couple outs, he just missed a couple balls. But the center field defense has been really good. Taking command and being a leader is, you leader is going to be his, I mean, he's going to keep growing into the leadership thing. He's becoming one, and it's fun to watch him grow up.

Speaker 91114.96s - 1128.3s

All right, so that was manager, Skip Schumacher PERSON. Look, Edward Cabrera maybe made the best start of the 2024 season, six innings, five hits, one run, 10 punchouts. Let's hear what Cabrera had to say, translated by Louis Dorante PERSON.

Speaker 31128.76s - 1135.78s

20 of your 23 batters that you face, you got ahead with the first strike. How are you able to get ahead?

Speaker 121136.38s - 1147.06s

Yeah, 20, 20, 23 turn to do you, let's start with strike. How can you start with every turn? I've been working

Speaker 61147.06s - 1163.48s

that. And my mentality was, as always, attack the zone. Thank you, I can say thatit's all right. I mean, to make a career, those are things that are going to in the game. But, thank you. Thank you. In the same. Yeah,

Speaker 121163.58s - 1183.76s

that's been something that I've been working on a lot. You know, starting the abat with a strike. Like I tell you all the time, attacking the song, it's one of the things I always try to do.Most important, unfortunately I got the walk. I got the walk, but most important is that I feel healthy and I think it was a good performance out there.

Speaker 31183.76s - 1194s

You looked really confident out there from the second you took them out in the first inning. Do you feel more confident? Something changed in that aspect?

Speaker 121194s - 1207.5s

Yes, you've seen that confidence. You've got to confidence. When you went to the loomita, you took the ball. All right of that confidence. Something has done different, something that changed to have that confidence. Something has done a different or something has changedto have that extra?

Speaker 61209.6s - 1237.66s

In reality my mentality always has been the same. We're always we have thementality of that we're going to get to attack the zone. You know, thepitch of cabo that's what is what is what is, and we're we need to continue that step too. And the mentality is always Because the pitch of the caboos are what is what is what is what we're doing. We need to continue that also, you know, and the mentality is always to attack the zone. No, it's necessary to change what is what is well, only that the results are different.Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 121238.38s - 1261.12s

It's, the mentality have not changed. It's the same. It's the same as, since I came up here. Good pitchers, got to think like that with positivity got to think always ahead but I haven't changed anything and most important part is that you cannot change anything that isworking right so you got to continue to do what it is working and and maintain

Speaker 31261.12s - 1265.5s

that mentality and that confident what was the last time you felt this good on the map?

Speaker 121265.5s - 1269s

When you felt like that you're saying in the multiculo?

Speaker 61269s - 1272s

And you got some...

Speaker 41272s - 1282.5s

You worked at a really quick tempo. Did you do that on purpose? Was that an emphasis for you coming into this game?

Speaker 121282.5s - 1289.6s

Yes, the time was to launch, it was a rapid. That's what launch, it was something that you're doing to do. That's what you're doing at a purpose, something you're going to enter the game.

Speaker 61290.2s - 1298.3s

No, no, in reality, I'm not going to be thinking about. It's something that it just came out.

Speaker 121299s - 1301.84s

You were originally, I think supposed to have a rehab started in two days.

Speaker 41302.18s - 1307.8s

When you got the news, instead that you were called up here, just how excited, eager were you? What sort of was the thought?

Speaker 121307.9s - 1319.76s

Yeah, it's supposed to start your recuperation. Orita, the process of recuperation in two days. How much you were, you said, look, you're ready, you're to go to Miami ORG?

Speaker 61320.38s - 1340.92s

Much. In reality, I mean, I'm motioned much. It was something that was I'm trying to, in reality. I mean, to come here, to try to help theteam, as much that's part of my mentality also, you know, to help it. And, you know, I'm always out of the moment to the Lomito PERSON.

Speaker 121341.32s - 1357.78s

A lot. I was very excited. A lot of excitement. Because that's what I want to, where I want to be. I want to be able to help the team any way I can and that's that's my mentality just being up here give all everything I got and being able to help the

Speaker 21357.78s - 1365.56s

team. Considering just a way the season has started up here did that make you want to get up here quicker to try to help turn things around?

Speaker 121365.98s - 1373.9s

Considering the record that has the team, you give much more gas or anxious to be with the team more rapidly and to help?

Speaker 61374.78s - 1392.38s

No, I can't say more rapid, in reality. All of its time. I'm the type of person that all of time. We don't put them to pressur the thing, because at. We can't pressurar the cause, because when we're we're pressuram, it's always alwaysalways always the time.

Speaker 121393.06s - 1406.34s

Everything at the right time. I'm a big believer of that. Everything has to be at the right time. Sometimes when you rush things, things don't come out of the right way. So, yeah, everything at the right time.

Speaker 71406.54s - 1415.62s

You threw a few sliders for a strikeout today. I don't think that was a main strikeout pitch for you last year. How were you feeling with that pitch? And what was the game plan for that pitch tonight?

Speaker 121415.82s - 1429.14s
