Speaker 035.12s - 41.16s

You are Locked on SEC, your daily podcast on the Southeastern ORG conference. Part of the Locked on Podcast Network, your team every day.

Speaker 142s - 80.46s

And what's happening everybody? Welcome into Lockdown SEC ORG. It's great to have you guys along on today's show. Jordan Kay of the state newspaper in Columbia GPE. It's going to join us to talk about the Gamecox tabbing Lenore Sellers QB1 PERSON. I'm Chris Gordy PERSON.Thanks for making Locked-on SEC your first listen every day. Shout out to every day. All right, we've got plenty to discuss. We actually got a bunch of little tidbits and headlines from around the conference. So let's do that. Let's go around the conference.

Speaker 081.12s - 86.44s

Boots out to the right. Interceptment. Goes to handle. Around the conference. And we out to the right. Interception. Drove to come to the ball. What a catch.

Speaker 187.42s - 695.66s

Around the conference. And we start over at South Carolina as Shane Beamer on Monday, meeting with media members in Florence GPE as part of the welcome home tour. And he was asked if he had a QB1 announcement to make. Beamer came out and said, yeah, look, Lenora Sellers PERSON. He did say we will continue to compete at all positions and did say the headline is going to be Beamer names Lenora Sellers starting quarterback, but he did say Robbie PERSON did a greatjob during spring practice along with the other QBs. He said Lenores PERSON did a great job and expect him to continue to compete and continue to earn that position as well. So what took so long? We're going to talk with Jordan Kay here in a little bit to find out why they didn't name a quarterback all spring. And just suddenly here we are first week of May.And he just drops. Oh, yeah, Lenores PERSON, skiby one right now. As he said, heading into the fall, we get it. Do we really think things will change? Do we really think this summer Robbie Astrod's just going to crush it and jump Lenore Sellers PERSON? I guess it could happen, but not very likely. All right, some other tidbits going on around the conference over at Mississippi State ORG. Jeff Leby PERSON picking up a defensive lineman through the transfer portal. Illinois defensive lineman Anthony Johnson PERSON. Now, we say Illinois ORG defensive lineman. Johnson only spent the spring with Illinois ORG. He transferred in from Youngstown State back in the January transfer portal and decideddidn't really suit him. So he's going to be heading to Mississippi State ORG. But he's headed into his fifth collegiate season, had a redshirt year at Bowling Green ORG, and then spent the past three at Youngstown State posted 36 tackles and five sacks and included this past fall as a senior where he had a career numbers with 22 tackles and four sacks. So we'll see what he is able to do over there at Mississippi State ORG. Over at Arkansas ORG, they get some experience and some production with a wide receiver. Now it's spelled K-H-A-F-R-E, but everybody I've heard pronounce it is Choffrey Brown PERSON. Wide receiver coming over. He started his career at North Carolina, played for the Tar Heels, his first few years, and then the past two seasons played for South Florida ORG.He's coming off his most productive season. Last year, he played in 12 games, 435 yards receiving, and five touchdowns. And watching some film on this guy, I mean, it is big playability. I watched some clips from his time at UNC ORG. There was one season at Virginia ORG. He scores on a 75-yard touchdown pass, breakaway speed. And then another year at UNC, it was another year against a different Virginia ORG team, and he caught a 76-yard touchdown pass on a slant. I mean, maybe Arkansas wants to schedule Virginia ORG on their schedule, because this guy's just a Virginia ORG killer. But Choffrey Brown coming in and should be a good wide receiver room for Arkansas ORG. They had him with Andrew Armstrong back, Tyrone Broden, Isaiah Setania, and Jaden Wilson PERSON.I mean, there's some good players in that room. So let's see what they look like with Talen Green PERSON getting the football. Bob and Petrino PERSON calling plays. A few other Arkansas ORG tidbits. Zaburgan and former BYU defensive lineman Danny Saly PERSON. He announced this week he is headed to Arkansas ORG.He signed with BYU ORG ahead of the spring before entering the transfer portal. He played last season at Hutchinson Community College in Topeka, Kansas. Last season there, he had 21 tackles, seven and a half tackles for a loss, and four sacks. He was named to the 2023 Jayhawk Conference First Team. One other interesting tidbit here over at Arkansas ORG, former Major League Baseball outfielder Monty Harrison PERSON is reportedly going to give football another try.On Tuesday, Harrison committed to play football for Arkansas ORG. According to Whole Hogg Sports, he will be a walk-on for Sam Pittman's PERSON team. Now, he was a multi-sport athlete back in high school. As a football prospect, he was a three-star, the number six recruit coming out of the state of Missouri ORG. But that was in the class of 2024. We're talking a decade later. And now he's set to turn 29 years old this summerand hoping to play his first college football game. He was in the Brewer ORG's organization for over three years. But kind of a fun story. I mean, if this works out, could be really cool, but he's going to be a walk-on. Monty Harrison, keep a name out, a lookout for that name over at Arkansas ORG. Over at Auburn, former Akron offensive lineman Ronan Chambers has committed to the Auburn Tigers ORG, entered the transfer portal this offseason, had originally committed to Tulane, but after a visit to the planes over the weekend, flipped this commitment, and will now join the Auburn Tigers for the final season of his collegiate career. Played high school ball in the state of Ohio, spent four seasons at Akron, appearing in 37 games, made 18 starts, 6'4.6, 290 pounds. Did show the ability to protect the strong side and the blind side last year in the Macs ORG, so we'll see where Hugh Freez PERSON opts to put him.But he's the second O'Lyman to join Auburn this offseason through the portal, along with Mississippi State O'Leyman Percy Lewis PERSON. So we'll see what happens there. Some other negative news for the Auburn Tigers ORG, Peach Tree City, McIntosh, class of 2025 three-star tight-end, Hollis Davidson decommitted from Auburn on Monday evening. He had initially committed to Auburn back in February, 6'5-238-pound tight-end. Put out a statement said, I'd like to thank Auburn and Coach Freeze for giving me the opportunity, play football at the next level, but after much prayer and conversation, we feel it is way too early to have a commitment set in stone. Now, as it stands right now, they're going to get an official visit from him when they host Texas A&M on November 23rd, and in addition to that,Davidson will take an official visit to Florida on June 7th. So, see where he ends up. Over at Kentucky, former Rutgers quarterback, Gavin Wimset PERSON, is joining the Kentucky Wildcats ORG through the portal. Over the course of three seasons at Rutgers ORG, he had 2,500 yards, 14 touchdowns, 17 interceptions, a 47% completion percentage. But he did have 600 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. He struggled with accuracy throughout his career. Obviously a touchdown interception ratio, not great. But dual threat. And out of his 600 rushing yards, he ran 4-497 last season, scored all 11 of his career touchdowns on the ground last year.Led Rutgers to a 7 and 6 record and a victory over Miami in the pinstripe bowl last winter. He had originally hopped into the portal after the, after Rutgers ORG named Minnesota Transfer quarterback, their starter following spring ball, and Wimson's departure left Rutgers ORG with three scholarship quarterbacks on their roster. But he was a class of 2021, was a four-star recruit coming out of Owensboro High School ORG, and was the number three overall prospect in the state. So he's heading to Kentucky, and we'll go compete with Brock Vandergriff PERSON and company, although I think Brock PERSON's probably got that one on lock. But add some depth to that room. And who knows? Dual Threat, running ability. Maybe they could design some plays for him over there at Kentucky GPE.Over to Alabama. Remember that motto Lank that Alabama kind of used last year? Let a naysayer know, as notably was noted on College Game Day. Terry and Arnold and Jalen Milrow PERSON came up with that saying. Well, according to a report, Terry and Arnold shared news of a collaboration with a country music singer, Walker Hayes, to create a song called Let a Naysayer know. He put out there, I'll just share some inside information. Nobody knows about Walker Hayes, country singer. We've got a lank song coming out. Terry and Arnold, Walker Hayes, and Jalen Milro PERSON releasing a country song. So Terry and Arroy PERSON recently wrapped up his collegiate career, was the first round pick of the Detroit GPE lines. Of course, Jalen Milrow, still the starting quarterback at Alabama. They came up with that motto reportedly during 2022, and Arnold talked with Andy Staples last year about it saying, we were just sitting around, we were talking. We're like, man, we need something that's going to get us going. And they came up with that saying. So keep it out for that. If you remember, Walker Hayes PERSON, the guy with the Applebee's on a date night. So we'll see if this one is catchy atall. And one more tip bit in here. Let's throw it in. Georgia and Ohio State both considered near the top of the rankings for a lot of folks. Joel Clatt PERSON on his latest edition of the Joel Clatt show said this offseason, Ohio State, the offseason they hadand the roster they're going to put on the field to me makes them number one. And so a lot of people want to plug George in there. Joel Clatt is plugging Ohio State in as his preseason number one team. So here's Joel Clatt's post Ohio State in as his preseason number one team. So here's Joel Clatt's post-spring top 25. He's got Ohio State number one, Georgia number two, Texas three, Oregon, four, Ole Miss five.So that's his top five. And then the rest of the SEC ORG teams coming in here. He's got Bama at 7, Missouri at number 10, LSU at number 14, Tennessee at 16, Oklahoma at 17, and Texas A&M sneaking in at number 25. So our first batch of talking SEC rankings where Texas and Oklahoma ORG are both in here and we include them into the group. So that's Georgia 2, Texas 3, Ole Miss 5, Bama 7, Mazu 10, LSU 14, Tennessee 16, Oklahoma 17, and A&M 25. So again, that's Joel Klatz rankings. He probably always kind of leans a little bit too much on the side of the Big 10 ORG.So a little bit of bias there. I say bias. It's biased because he calls the Big 10 game of the week Ten. So a little bit of bias there. I say bias. It's biased because he calls the Big Ten game of the week every week on Fox ORG. It's not like, you know, he played a Colorado ORG. Butlook, when they're calling Ohio State and Michigan ORG games

Speaker 0695.66s - 697.88s

every week, that's who they see in person.

Speaker 1698.02s - 844.52s

Clearly, he's going to give a little bit of more credit and slight to them, right? But nonetheless, we'll do our preseason ranking sometime this summer. We dive into probably post-SEC media days, but look, Ohio State ORG, they make a compelling argument, right?I mean, they hit up a bunch of pieces to transfer portal. They bring in the leading Russia from the SEC ORG. The last two years, Quinn John Judkins PERSON. So it makes sense. SEC. The last two years, Quinchon Judkins PERSON, so it makes sense. Butyeah, I don't know if I'm putting Ohio State ORG on my preseason number one list. And one more tidbit I want to give you guys the anticipation of the new NCAA football game is coming your way soon. And saw this tidbit yesterday.Apparently Kirk Kerb Street PERSON revealed that he's in the video game. We know that. He and Chris Fowler, but he revealed to USA Today Sports ORG. He said, Chris PERSON and I won't be on every game. You're going to have different broadcast partnersfor different games depending on the magnitude. So there are reports that other broadcasters were going to be in the video game. It makes sense. If you're the big game, so if you're playing like an SEC ORG matchup,it'll probably be like the game of the week and you'll get Chris Fowler PERSON and Kirkcour Curb Street calling the game in the video game. But if you're playing, you know, if it's Arkansas versus Arkansas Pine Bluff ORG, you're probably not getting those two guys. All right, thank you guys for making a locked-on SEC your first listen every day. Coming up next, we're going to talk a little bit more on the South Carolina Gamecocks coming out of their spring and naming Lenora Sellers PERSON, QB1. We'll talk about that next right here, locked on SEC ORG.But first, what I'm on you guys, this episode is presented to by our friends over at eBay Motors. Like passion, drive, and patience. Speaker 1883.76s - 907.38s

Run along here, Locked-on SEC, and joining us to talk about one of the big storylines coming out across the SEC this week is Jordan K covering South Carolina for the state newspaper there in Colombia and Jordan welcome in man I know you were at an event this week for the Gamecock club where Shane Beamer was speaking to a group of reporters and you were in that group and kind of talking about some of the things coming out of spring.

Speaker 0907.54s - 916.86s

And one of the things he drops is that, hey, Lenora Sellers PERSON, is QB1 coming out of spring heading into the fall? I thought that was pretty intriguing.

Speaker 2917.9s - 974.02s

Yeah, he had been kind of all throughout spring and even right after the spring game. He had not really committed to anything and just said, hey, you know, we're going to, we're going to keep it going. This is a competition. Wouldn't really commit to anything. Wouldn't name anyone, even though everyone knew that Lenoir Sellers PERSON was the bestquarterback on the roster. He won like an award for offensive player of the spring, which, you know, gives you a good indication. And then looked like the, by far the best quarterback in the spring game EVENT. So I don't think anyone was surprised. It was just kind of interesting that he said it. And the wording he used is like starting quarterback coming out of spring and basically said, you know, if the season started tomorrow,he would be the starting quarterback. He had to really like put some caveats on it and said, you know, this is, he's a starter like right now, but that doesn't mean it's his job for sure. You know, he's still going to compete with the Auburn

Speaker 0974.02s - 988.46s

transfer Robbie Ashford and, you know, Robbie somehow elevates himself and Lenora PERSON's dips a little bit, you know, this could change. But right now, you know, Lenore PERSON's is going to be the quarterback, which I think everyone expected, but for him to say it kind of made some news.

Speaker 1989.08s - 995.68s

Why do you think he chose now to do it? I mean, I know you said the wording is, okay, it's, you know, he's saying going into the fall.

Speaker 0996.08s - 998.74s

But anybody with eyeballs, we could all tell that.

Speaker 2998.78s - 1027.12s

But why was he so noncommittal throughout all a spring practice in the spring game? And then now speaking at a, you know, with a booster event or whatever, now he comes out and goes, oh, yeah, he's the leader in the clubhouse. I don't know. I was kind of wondering the same thing. I think maybe he just was just like, what's the point now?You know, why do I have to keep saying it's a, it's a, you know, open competition. The event was in the hometown of Lenora PERSON's sellers. So I didn't know if that was something too.

Speaker 01027.24s - 1032.32s

Just okay, you know, hey, we're talking to these people. You know, Lenoris PERSON was there signing autograph.

Speaker 21032.66s - 1058.4s

So I don't know if he was just like, well, I kind of have to say this at this point. And even talking to the boosters, every time he was asked about like Lenores PERSON, he kind of included the other guys in there too in his answer. I also didn't know. And I don't want to, you know, project anything. But, you know, the one thing I've heard with other programs is sometimes they won't really tell guys where they're at until after the transfer portal window closes.

Speaker 01058.62s - 1069.38s

And that closed on April 30th. And so that was kind of where my mind went a little bit. I was like, oh, I wonder if, like, this timing was just like they had to wait until the portal closed to not make a decision to make

Speaker 21069.38s - 1104.68s

sure there were no surprise transfers. I don't know if that's 100% true. That's probably, probably, you know, not 100% fair, but that's a possibility too. And then I think just going into the summer, he had already told like basically what he was saying too is too, is he had already told, like, Lenoris and Robbie PERSON these things. So that's why I didn't really think the transfer portal thing was probably it because, like, I think he laid this out for that weeks ago. So, yeah, it was a little odd that he said it now. It might have just been because of the time and place. And he was asked about it. So that could have been it, too. Yeah.

Speaker 11104.78s - 1118.66s

No, it's a good call, too. I mean, obviously, being there at his hometown, and then also, you know, as much as we're going to think, oh, Robbie Ashert PERSON, he wouldn't have re-entered the portal again, but we've seen multiple guys do that. Guys who went to the portal in December, then entered again and spring it went somewhere else. So it's not the crazy.

Speaker 21119.66s - 1147.52s

Yeah, I'm sure there has to be coaches around the country who are thinking about this. Like, okay, how do we address a positional competition right now? What wording do we use to make sure this guy, you know, who probably does still have a chance? Like, you know, if he plays well in the fall, like he could, Robbie Ashford, if he plays well in the fall, he could be the starting quarterback. And so how do we tell him this? But, you know, without him, you know, kind of getting scared of transferring. And you probably don't want those guys in your program anyway.

Speaker 11148.02s - 1152.94s

Right, exactly. Okay, so give us the thought on what you saw from sellers.

Speaker 21153.1s - 1197.12s

Obviously, we saw a limited sample size of him in season last year, but obviously we saw the high school film. We know the excitement, the dual threat ability. What did you see from Lenores throughout the spring? Yeah, I saw a big-bodied guy who wasn't using his size and athleticism in a bad way, which I think is like the thing you always get scared of with dudes like this. This is like the RG3 thing, whereas when you have an athlete so big and so fast thatthey just put themselves into harm's way constantly and you're like you're going to get hurt you're making bad plays like what is up but sellers used his legs like basically only when he needed to only when it was kind of helping him abate the pocket or his big

Speaker 01197.12s - 1202.22s

third down and kind of the middle opened up the other thing i saw in the spring game EVENT and you know you

Speaker 21202.22s - 1231.78s

have to put a little caveat on it because it was a pretty vanilla offense they were showcasing but just made the right play time and time again which for a guy like that big you're always expected he's going to try and you know go for the home run he's going to air it out deep kind of throw into tight coverage uh because he's so athletic and in high school he was able to get away with that stuff but man it was just hey if something's not there downfield i'll check down i'll hit my easy receiver and he was like nine of away with that stuff. But man, it was just, hey, if something's not there downfield, I'll check down, I'll hit my easy receiver. He was like 9 of 11, went deep on a couple passes, didn't really complete him.

Speaker 01231.78s - 1235.56s

But, man, everything else, he was taking exactly what the defense gave him.

Speaker 21235.64s - 1259.82s

And for a redshirt freshman with the athleticism to probably just bull those guys whenever he wants or throw the ball 80 yards. He was doing exactly what the offense called for taking what the defense gave him. And that was kind of one of those mature things where I was like, okay, wow, this is this is really impressive. Like for a young guy, this gives you a lot of hope going into the fall. More with Jordan Kay here in just a second. But first,

Speaker 11259.82s - 1409.66s

The number one financial destination, it is yahoofinance.com ORG. That's yahoofinance.com ORG. Continue our conversation with Jordan Kay from the state newspaper there in Columbia GPE. And Jordan, I thought one of the biggest issues with the South Carolina team, each of the last two seasons was that offensive line. I mean, the protection for Spencer Radler PERSON was lacking.

Speaker 01410.02s - 1424.4s

And they gave him time to throw, Spencer Radler PERSON was awesome. How much is that, I mean, how much have they retooled that old line, but then also, I guess how much does that solve that problem with the running ability of sellers where maybe he doesn't have to be perfect standing back

Speaker 21424.4s - 1438.56s

there in the pocket because he can take off and run. Yeah, the rushing ability stuff is going to be huge. I mean, I will say, like, Rattler could run a little bit and there were some of those plays where he had no chance at all. Like, there was, there was no way anyone was getting out of some of

Speaker 01438.56s - 1450.12s

those sacks. But Sellers is going to be able to extend plays. He's going to be able to break tackles when, you know, the defensive linemen are diving at his legs trying to extend plays. He's going to be able to break tackles when, you know, the defensive line that are diving at his legs trying to sack him. He's going to be able to get out of some of those things.

Speaker 21450.62s - 1475s

He can run around. So that helps. The other thing with the old line is, like, it was really bad last year. But they also had, like, six guys go out with season-ending injuries. At one point, 10 of the offensive linemen on the team were injured. So, like, there was just so many injuries that it was so hard to, like, judge exactly, like, what some of these guys could do or what they have coming back because it was, like, you never really saw them at full strength.

Speaker 01475.1s - 1481.26s

I don't, I don't think they had, like, the same offensive line two weeks in a row until the last two weeks of the season.

Speaker 21481.66s - 1483.86s

So it was just constantly moving all around.

Speaker 01483.86s - 1485.22s

And, you know,

Speaker 21485.3s - 1505.16s

I expect this year they're going to have a ton of young dudes starting. I mean, there's a chance that a five-star freshman Josiah Thompson PERSON starts at left tackle. There's a chance redshirt freshmen are going to be starting at guard and at right tackle. I mean, there's a chance you got to transfer in at center. There are so many young guys, so many newcomers that are going to be on this offensive line that they're going to have more newcomers that are going to be on this offensive line

Speaker 01505.16s - 1512.04s

that they're going to have more depth. They're going to have barry injuries. They'll have more depth. They're going to have a lot more talent.

Speaker 21512.8s - 1521.96s

And so I think there is hope and optimism. But you're a couple injuries away from kind of being in a very similar spot as last year. And that is scary.

Speaker 11523.02s - 1527.94s

I was going to ask my next question, just kind of what, you know, what did you make of what they did in the transfer portal?

Speaker 21528.2s - 1612.3s

And man, they've had a ton there. And obviously one of the big ones I'm looking at is, is wide receiver. I mean, each of the last two years, you've had juice wells, you've had, you know, Xavier ORG had the get come out of nowhere. I mean, they've had studs and now those guys are gone. So who is going to be those go-toe targets for sellers?Yeah, I don't exactly know. I mean, it was tough to really tell in spring who's going to be the guy to step up. A lot of them are like very similarly sized. They don't have much size at a wide receiver. You look at their wide outs. It's a lot of dudes who are like 510 to 6 feet 170 to 190 pounds it's like the very similar body which is a little concerningso that kind of like leads me to think like one of the you know gage larvadane is one of those like six foot dudes and he's from my amy of ohio and has kind of been the stud break out in the spring but it's it is tough to tell sometimes exactly who's, uh, who's going to be the dude. Nick Harbor, who's a five-star freshman from last year. Uh, he's running track right now. So he, we didn't see him at all during spring, but that dude, 6.5, you know, 240, probably one of the biggest freaks in college football, but he's trying toqualify for the Olympics EVENT right now as a sprinter. So he's probably the go-to to be the number one receiver in the fall, but we didn't really see any of him.

Speaker 01612.3s - 1621.12s

And then they just got this big six-foot three kid from Nevada who had 550 yards-ish last season.

Speaker 21621.62s - 1651.16s

Is kind of one of those, he's going to be the only other big body dude aside from Harbor PERSON that that sellers is going to be able to throw to. So it's kind of interesting because there hasn't really been someone who's like, holy cow, like that is for sure the number one or the number two guy. A lot of guys who kind of like look very similar and I don't think we're really going to know until, you know, week one, week two of the season. It's like, oh, wow, this dude can run routes better than anyone. This guy just always has an act for getting open. It hasn't been easy to see that stuff yet.

Speaker 11652.06s - 1665.08s

Yeah, I was just looking at the numbers on Campbell from Nevada. Yeah, 6'4. And obviously, you know, Nick Harbor, 6'5, like, I felt like last year, like, just get him on the field. Get him involved somehow some way because he's just such a freak of an athlete. Yeah, I think part of it, like, was him, the field get him get him involved somehow way because yeah he's just

Speaker 21665.08s - 1717.96s

such a freak of an athlete yeah i think part of it like was him he had to learn the offense too um so that was a lot harder i think than it made it seem i think they brought him in as a tight end then he switched a wide receiver and so that was tough to uh rattler PERSON didn't have a ton of time in the pocket and so you know everyone was just saying well just Nick Harbour PERSON run as fast as you can. Like, well, great, but, like, you know, you put a safety over top and you can't throw to him. Or, you know, sometimes Spencer Rattler PERSON didn't have time to get him in the ball.So it was tough. And then, you know, he had to learn the playbook. And so there were packages where he couldn't be in there at times, too. He was also, like, 245 pounds for the season. Like, he was also like 245 pounds for the season. He was like kind of like went inlike trying to play tight end. And then he started running track this this spring. And he got down to like 225, 230 something.

Speaker 01718.1s - 1720.82s

And he's like, he was telling me he's like, I feel like way better.

Speaker 21721.28s - 1745.22s

I feel way faster. I feel like I can like actually do everything I want. And so I think he's going to actually slim down a little bit and probably get to like a 225, 2.30-ish mark, which is going to make him even faster on the field. He's going to have an entire year now of being in the system. And I think this is probably the season where you say, okay, if he's going to break out, it's probably this year. Yeah, I remember coming in. There was some talk.

Speaker 11745.32s - 1747.42s

Is he going to play defensive end? Is he tight end?

Speaker 21747.52s - 1750.82s

Yeah. I mean, it's like trying to figure out where to get him on the field.

Speaker 01751.16s - 1753.66s

But certainly a freak of an athlete.

Speaker 21753.78s - 1802.64s

Can't wait to see what he does this season. All right. Last thing for you, Jordan PERSON. Just kind of look at the schedule, man. I mean, this is a big year for Shane Beamer coming off of the disappointing season last year. But, God, the schedule's brutal.I mean, right out of the gates, week two, you got to go on the road at Kentucky GPE for a conference game. Then you come home for LSU ORG. But then that month of October, it's Ole Miss at Bama, at Oklahoma ORG, home for A&M. And oh, by the way, still Missouri and at Clemson ORG on the back end. Like, this is brutal, man. Like, I mean, is six and six kind of like, is that the, hey, that's the most doable andthat'll get us to a bowl game? Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking. I mean, last year, so they went five and seven last year, and they had a non-conference game. They opened up against North Carolina GPE. They lost that game. So my thought was like, okay, you know, realistically, if they had scheduled a cupcake instead of North Carolina GPE,

Speaker 01802.64s - 1804.76s

they would have been six and six, they went to a bowl.

Speaker 21804.92s - 1879.22s

They lost a bad Florida game that probably should have won seven games. You're looking at this year and I'm like, okay, you have three easy non-conference games. That gives me three wins right there. You play Vandy. There's four wins. And then you're starting to look like, where do the other two come from? Like, can you beat Kentucky at Kentucky? Maybe. Can you beat A&M ORG at home? Maybe. Then it's just like, okay, are you beaten LSU ORG and Ole Miss at home? Probably not. Maybe LSU. Are you beating Oklahoma and Alabama on the road? Probably not. Are you beating Clemson ORG on the road? Probably not. So I'm like, yeah, I'm kind of with you. I'm thinking, you know, six, seven is probably the max. And it's so weird because I've gone to a couple of these, you know, booster club events. And everyone keeps asking about the schedule. And Beaver kind of has to play it. He's like, you know, we don't have to play the schedule. We get to play the schedule. And, you know, this is what you want in the ACC ORG or the SEC. If we want an easy schedule, we can go play in the ACC and, you know, thatalways gets some big tears. But it's very interesting because they have one of these incredibly hard schedules and they're three traditional SEC rivals. They don't play. It's like the first time

Speaker 01879.22s - 1885.66s

ever. They don't play Florida or Georgia or Tennessee GPE. And so it's kind of crazy that the schedule is this hard,

Speaker 21885.7s - 1907.02s

and they don't even play those three teams. It won't play them again next year either. So, yeah, life is not getting easier in the SEC ORG right now. But I'm kind of with you. I think there's a path of six wins, maybe seven if they steal a game. But that's probably the bar right there. If you make a bowl game, I think it's a good season.

Speaker 11907.82s - 1912.54s

And then no help. Like, let's say, let's say they go five and seven. And the heat starts to turn up on

Speaker 01912.54s - 1916.48s

Beamer. No help from the SEC ORG office because they said, we're keeping the schedule the same. It's just

Speaker 21916.48s - 1921.82s

going to flip. So now you get Babb and Oklahoma at home, but then you've got to go to A&M and two LH2 and

Speaker 01921.82s - 1925.4s

it's like, it still is just as hard so I don't know

Speaker 11925.4s - 1930.32s

and it's going to be tough and it doesn't help I mean like you know I think South Carolina GPE is one

Speaker 01930.32s - 1935.5s

of these schools that doesn't you know I'm not sure exactly their position I haven't asked Shane PERSON or

Speaker 21935.5s - 1979.82s

the AD but I'm guessing they're one of these schools that doesn't want nine SEC ORG games because they need those like they need those three like non-conference cupcakes because they have to schedule Clemson every year and so that's I mean that's basically an SEC game so theoretically in their eyes it's like we're already playing nine SEC games and then some of these years where they throw in a North Carolina I think they're playing like Virginia Tech next year it's like they have no help it's like past, the six wins like gets really hard some years when, when they have Clemson ORG and, you know, North Carolina GPE on their schedule. So, you know, I would, I'm not sure whatShane Beamer PERSON would say, but my guess is he's like, we'll keep it at eight SEC ORG games. We don't need another one of these. Now, look,

Speaker 11979.86s - 1981.9s

if Lenore Sellers PERSON wants to have a Johnny Mansell

Speaker 21981.9s - 1983.52s

type Heisman WORK_OF_ART here? Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 11983.58s - 1985.44s

That'll turn some things around.

Speaker 21985.82s - 1987.5s

And if even like, go ahead.

Speaker 11987.5s - 1990.06s

Manzell, like didn't he only win like nine or ten games?

Speaker 21990.42s - 1990.98s

Like that's true.

Speaker 11991.1s - 1995.02s

It's not even like he went out to be like, even that is so crazy where it's like,

Speaker 21995.26s - 1998.74s

man, Manzell like carried this team and it's like he's still lost like three times.

Speaker 01999.82s - 2002.82s

Yeah. It's just so, I mean, it's impossible for some of these teams.

Speaker 22003.48s - 2007.28s

Look, if Sellers wins 10 games and has a Heisman year, I think don't take...

Speaker 12007.28s - 2008.96s

Put a statue up.

Speaker 22010.04s - 2012.64s
