Speaker 30s - 13.72s

It's the lockdown podcast network, your team every day. We told you about the offense.

Speaker 214.18s - 44.1s

We ranked those position groups from least impactful to most impactful. Now we're moving over to the defense. What is the number one position group on the University of Georgia's team on the defense this year? We'll talk about it today on the Lockdown Bulldogs ORG podcast. You are Locked on Bulldogs. Your daily podcast on the Georgia Bulldogs ORG. Part of the Locked

Speaker 144.1s - 50.04s

on podcast network, your team every day. Welcome back to Lockdown Bulldogs. Welcome back to the Georgia Bulldogs. Part of the Locked-on Podcast Network, your team every day. Welcome back to Locked-on Bulldogs ORG.

Speaker 350.12s - 57.8s

Part Locked on Podcast Network, your team every day. He is Daniel, I am Clint PERSON, together. We are Locked on Bulldogs ORG. Thanks for making us your first listen. We really appreciate y'all. We do.

Speaker 257.8s - 64.44s

So very much, the 199, the loyal third segment listeners, stick all the way to the end, thus being crowned loyal third segment listeners.

Speaker 164.68s - 70.7s

That's what they do. Athens GPE, Athens Steve almost caught the wrath today as he was talking about greatest UGA ORG athletes

Speaker 070.7s - 77.78s

of all time. Ant Man could be one of them, but his name is Stetson Bennett PERSON. He's the greatest that ever was, two-time national champion.

Speaker 379.3s - 82.38s

But we're talking defense. We're not talking offense.

Speaker 282.62s - 84.92s

No. We're done with it.

Speaker 387.04s - 89.04s

Anthony Edwards plays both offense and defense. So're not talking offense. He was in a whole. We're, Anthony Edwards plays both offense and defense. So he does the bill.

Speaker 289.24s - 89.82s

Both.

Speaker 390.64s - 90.82s

Just real quick,

Speaker 291.4s - 91.9s

real quick.

Speaker 392s - 93.34s

Oh, we're talking basketball in the first segment.

Speaker 293.5s - 94.26s

Thanks to Game Time ORG,

Speaker 394.32s - 94.64s

by the way,

Speaker 294.66s - 95.74s

for bringing us today's episode.

Speaker 395.92s - 106.74s

We love them. We love you. No, we're not talking about basketball, but Ant Man is the face of the NBA ORG, which I,it might actually make me start watching NBA ORG basketball. What a time to be alive, Clint PERSON. It really.

Speaker 2106.74s - 108.78s

What a time to be alive.

Speaker 3109.46s - 110.82s

We'll talk more about that later.

Speaker 2111.12s - 112.94s

More about that later because we have some things in the works.

Speaker 3112.94s - 116.16s

But let's begin with this defense showed out.

Speaker 2116.4s - 121s

We talked about all off season how the defense really let us down in some key moments last year.

Speaker 3121.18s - 124.98s

It wasn't what we were used to in 2022, 2021, elite defenses.

Speaker 2125.6s - 131.8s

And all of a sudden, we had a huge drop off last year, mainly because we had a bunch of young bucks running around.

Speaker 3131.8s - 137.44s

Needed some guys that didn't come through. Michael Williams PERSON famously did not set the sack record for

Speaker 2137.44s - 142.38s

SEC ORG as I did he not? No, wasn't even close.

Speaker 3142.54s - 146.44s

Nah, didn't sniff it. No. That's okay, because G day brought you and I.

Speaker 2146.72s - 146.92s

Oh,

Speaker 3147s - 150.88s

there was a great warmth in my belly.

Speaker 2150.88s - 156.66s

Just like some liquid that at times we consume.

Speaker 3157.04s - 158.2s

It warmed our souls.

Speaker 2158.38s - 159.22s

So we're going to talk about that.

Speaker 3159.58s - 161.1s

We're going to go from five to one,

Speaker 2161.2s - 161.82s

the fifth best,

Speaker 3161.9s - 170.18s

fourth, best third all the way up to the best defensive unit on the defensive side. I'm going to let you kick us off here, Clint PERSON, but I think

Speaker 2170.18s - 258.58s

is it fair to say that this one's a little bit tougher to rank and sort out than the offense? I felt like we had a pretty clear picture on theoffensive side. Now, we maybe could go back and forth about a couple things. We dropped offensive line down, the wide receivers impressed us, these types of things. But on the defensive side of the ball, I really feel like it's going to be really tough to sort these out. I'm even curious as to how it's all going to shake out here on the episode today. We were in lockstep for the offense. There might be a little bit of disagreement, but we're going to keep our same format. We're going to alternate shots. And soyou're going to lead us off with the fifth best, a lot, the worst. And just to clarify, our five position groups on defense are defensive line, edge, linebacker, corner, and safety. We're going to call the star position a safety in this episode. So the defensive backs, the corners would be the outside corners. And the safeties would include three players most of the time as Georgia ORG runs out of the nickel quite a bit. So, Clint PERSON, I'll let you kick us off here on the defensive side. And who's at the bottom of the barrel?

Speaker 3259.26s - 266.46s

This is, like you said, I think five through two could really be in a lot of different orders.

Speaker 2266.92s - 269.16s

For me, we're going to get to number one.

Speaker 3269.36s - 274.02s

And to number one, I think is going to be common between us.

Speaker 2274.38s - 277s

But you start talent, do you go talent?

Speaker 3277.1s - 300.98s

Do you go to experience? Do you go success on the field? It's such an up in the air thing. And so Daniel, I'll give you the two position groups that I'm between for fifth. And that's actually defensive interior line and cornerback. Now, we have high hopes for cornerback. We saw some things at G day that brought you and I a smile because we were,

Speaker 2300.98s - 305.46s

we're very concerned. We're losing a bunch of key guys. Camar Lasseter PERSON, locked down corner.

Speaker 3305.86s - 310.44s

We have a couple of guys that could be fighting Ellis Robinson PERSON in there.

Speaker 2310.56s - 314.36s

So the talent is there, the five stars, the four stars are there.

Speaker 3314.44s - 342.92s

But I think ultimately for me, because of the seniority on the defensive interior line, I'm going to go corner because it's unimproven because right now I don't feel confident, leaving any single person out on an island unto themselves. Now, stop me if you heard this before. I think this is a common occurrence for UGA offseason. Is it not, Daniel PERSON, you and I have sat here on this podcast several times and said, hey, famously, DeAndre Baker PERSON is not a shutdown corner. Well, it turns out he is a shutdown corner.

Speaker 2343.22s - 356.16s

That's right. We don't know Tyson Campbell PERSON, who's going to make the opposite end of the unit complete. But if you look at the cornerback, Daylon Everett Studd PERSON. Okay. The talent.

Speaker 3356.48s - 362.56s

Okay. We we project him to be very good this year. We're very high on him on this podcast. Let's

Speaker 2362.56s - 365.74s

not go. Let's not go Dailen Everett's PERSON stud

Speaker 3365.74s - 373.82s

right away. Okay. Just in a drill situation and a one-on-one, seven-on-seven type situation.

Speaker 2373.82s - 378.32s

We think he's got the goods. We think he's got the goods. Julian Humphrey PERSON, we think also has the

Speaker 3378.32s - 383.24s

goods, but has it translated to on-field? These are our two best corners. These are our two best

Speaker 2383.24s - 385.2s

corners. And there's no doubt. There's no denying that.

Speaker 3385.32s - 385.74s

There's no denying.

Speaker 2385.82s - 390.32s

And after that, like I said, Ellis Robinson probably talent wise, number three so far.

Speaker 3390.32s - 396.76s

If all recruiting services are correct, which there is no such thing as guru or insider, if they were, they would be coaches.

Speaker 2397.3s - 404.64s

So I'm going to go cornerback as our fifth position group because of the inexperience of success on the field.

Speaker 3405.28s - 408.84s

What say you to my analysis? It's corner and it's not even close.

Speaker 2408.96s - 410.34s

I don't think for fifth.

Speaker 3410.46s - 414.12s

I like it a lot as putting them there.

Speaker 2414.26s - 427.88s

Now, do I think corner is going to be drastically improved this year? I do actually and that includes losing a corner, obviously. And quite a good one in Kamari Laster PERSON,

Speaker 0428.98s - 429.86s

a guy that we liked a lot.

Speaker 2434.16s - 451.14s

Dayland Everett struggled at times last year, but we've been on record. We don't need to repeat ourselves on the podcast, but if there are new listeners, we believe that Daylon Everett is going to have a big year this year. We think he's going, we think he's good. I think you look at the track record of Kirby Smart PERSON coaching true freshman, or not true freshmen, sorry, but coaching young

Speaker 0451.14s - 458.56s

corners on the field over the course of a season. Now obviously, Daylon PERSON was a sophomore last

Speaker 2458.56s - 524.88s

year, but you look at Kirby Smart's track record that first year, sometimes some bumps and bruises. But what did we see out of the coaching staff? Nothing. He stayed the course, kept him right in there, kept him in the mix. I know Humphrey PERSON got rotated in, and I think that was good for us. I think Dalian Everett PERSON's going to be good.I think Julian Humphrey PERSON's going to be good. I think Ellis Robinson PERSON is going to need some time. And it would be awesome if he were a solid number three and got some good quality minutes every game, but was not necessarily being relied on all that much. So it would be great if those two guys would stay healthy, Clint PERSON, but lack of quality depth alone is going to put this unit. We're going to talk about some other units there'snone of them that would terrify me to see an injury at any more than corner right like this is the lack of quality depth that corner makes you just grab the bucket right we need by the way we we we got to get

Speaker 3524.88s - 528.12s

back over we we're going to make a bucket this, we, Daniel PERSON, we got to get back over. We're going to make a bucket this year to sell out.

Speaker 2528.64s - 532.6s

We got to sell a, we are going to sell a five-gallon bucket with our,

Speaker 3532.6s - 556.18s

with our own branding, with just Daniel and Clint's faces on it, a five-gallon bucket. I think you're right. The quality depth is of concern. We're going to talk about four, three, 2, 1, but first, these. These are, in fact, game time. Game time is fantastic. The official sports book of, I'm sorry, the official ticket of Locked on Bulldogs ORG.

Speaker 2556.98s - 581.94s

Locked-on college football is available five days a week on the Locked-on Podcast Network, your team every day. I started off with the cornerback position, Daniel, where we're going to go for four?

Speaker 3658.36s - 666.32s

Well, I mean, tipping my hand here, but it ain't going to be defensive line.

Speaker 2666.56s - 676.6s

I'll tell you that. Not in my book. And I get to pick number four. And so I didn't even consider defensive line in here at four.

Speaker 3677.5s - 679.34s

I got to give quickly a little defense.

Speaker 2679.7s - 684.16s

We were glad to get back some returning players.

Speaker 3684.66s - 689.88s

I think that they got some advice that said, hey, you back some returning players. I think that they got some advice that said, hey, you need some more time.

Speaker 2689.96s - 692.1s

Sure, they did. And we're still

Speaker 3692.1s - 693.86s

glad to have them back. I'm happy.

Speaker 2694.08s - 695.78s

I'm thrilled to have them back. Yes.

Speaker 3696.44s - 698.2s

We'll talk about defensive line when the time

Speaker 2698.2s - 700.06s

comes, Clint PERSON. But

Speaker 3700.06s - 701.74s

right now we're going to talk about the safeties.

Speaker 2702.04s - 703.6s

Because I'm going safety

Speaker 3703.6s - 706.34s

at four. Now, it is hard.

Speaker 2706.64s - 707.58s

It's hard.

Speaker 3707.94s - 718.4s

Sometimes two things can be true at the same time, Clint PERSON, and that is, A, we have no business being successful podcast hosts.

Speaker 2718.9s - 725.48s

B, we have a successful podcast. Two things can be true at the same time. These are both true facts of life.

Speaker 1725.48s - 746.92s

They don't have to contradict each other. Point A is that the best player on George's defense by a lot, not the highest draft pick on Georgia ORG's defense, right? We'll get to him in a moment. But the best player right now on Georgia's defense is a safety. It's

Speaker 2746.92s - 771.6s

names Malachi Starks PERSON, and he plays the safety position. And yet, I've got safety as the fourth out of five rated position groups on George's team. And it obviously has to do with what I'm looking at opposite of Malachi Starx PERSON. And I got two other positions to fill Clint PERSON, and I got a lot of questions.

Speaker 0772.06s - 774.6s

And I don't have a lot of answers.

Speaker 2775.4s - 796.34s

So let's talk about some of the things we think we maybe know. We think we know that Jonah Liguero PERSON is going to lock down that star position. We loved what we saw from him in G-Day ORG. But we need to see it in an SEC ORG game. He's about to trot out there versus Clemson in week one, Clint PERSON and the bins. We've seen him play SEC ORG football, and when he did.

Speaker 3796.68s - 799.94s

It ain't been good. The bucket was necessary. Yeah.

Speaker 2800.42s - 833s

So if Joanelle Aguero PERSON is out there, that's great. We talked about first year corners and Kirby sticking with them. Obviously, Jonell, true freshman last year, you would understand it if he took a big leap forward. And by all accounts, he has done that. And by all accounts, he looks great in practice. We loved what we saw at G day very high on him coming out of there. Now, that doesn't mean that makes me feel sunshine and rainbows. But that's, I would say, Clint, the better of the two spots that we have to fill.

Speaker 3833.36s - 840.66s

I'm sorry. You're right. We just said huge question mark for the guerrero. Huge question mark.

Speaker 2841.08s - 865.2s

And yet that makes me feel a lot more confident. The other one's worse. Because in the other safety spot over there, it's not that you don't have a bevy of names that you could go with. Okay. Thunder Dan Jackson PERSON. Jake Pope PERSON.True freshman K.J. Bolden PERSON. David Daniel PERSON. Like, Kyron Jones PERSON could slide back there and play safety

Speaker 3865.2s - 876.8s

there's a lot of names don't for a second think that Kairn Jones doesn't wind up of being the starting safety by the year's end opposite Malachi PERSON starts because he has a chance to do soI'm not I'm not calling shot but he has a chance to do so

Speaker 2876.8s - 880.24s

all those guys I think have a chance to do so

Speaker 3880.24s - 881.26s

I mean you

Speaker 2881.26s - 909.16s

obviously you've got a lot of different skill you've got a lot of different skill. You've got a lot of different people represented there, right? You've got true freshman, raw, Uber ORG talented, Uber athletic, has no idea what he's going to be doing out there. Zero clue. And then on the opposite end of the spectrum, you got Dan Jackson PERSON. Knows what he's doing. The highest floor possible. Yes. And the ceiling is the floor.

Speaker 0909.64s - 914.24s

Like he literally is just one player. He is the same player.

Speaker 2914.88s - 969.14s

And there's something to be said for that. There's pros and cons to all these guys. Some of them have more length. Some of them have more speed. Some of them have more size and physicality. It's the only thing that makes you feel good. And the only reason that safety doesn't find itself at number five on my list, Clint PERSON, is because you've got an absolute stone cold dude back there who can fix a lot of your problems. And so, yeah, safety is a position that I am, it's not like I'm nervous grab a bucket about it. I'm not nervous about any of these positions, to be fair. And that's wild given what I saw from this defense last year, which was filth. But I am so curious as to how the safety position is going to play out. And I can't rank them any higher than this until I see something. Clint PERSON, what do you got?

Speaker 3969.44s - 969.86s

What do you think?

Speaker 2971.06s - 979.18s

Look, for me, the talent of the best player on the field, Malachi-Starks PERSON, makes me want to rank them higher.

Speaker 3979.18s - 985.72s

But as I hear you talk about it, Daniel PERSON, I think you may have talked me into understanding that defensive line

Speaker 2985.72s - 991.2s

is not the fourth. And when I see defensive line, I, well, we're talking about safety.

Speaker 3991.2s - 997.22s

I think safety position is going to be a constant mix and match until we find the right recipe.

Speaker 0997.64s - 1009.44s

I think in different situations and different sub packages, we're going to see a lot of guys getting run. Dan Jackson PERSON is going to be a dude who knows his assignment on lockdown. Can he get to the assignment in time to make a play?

Speaker 31010.12s - 1016.86s

That's going to be the question. Will he be asked to do so? I don't know. He's on the field.

Speaker 21017.22s - 1017.24s

So,

Speaker 31017.94s - 1018.24s

yeah,

Speaker 21018.24s - 1019.22s

if he's on the field,

Speaker 31019.3s - 1024.28s

he will be asked to do so. And spoiler alert, dog fans, he's going to be on the field this season.

Speaker 21024.74s - 1032.58s

Like, get used to it. Yeah. I mean, he may not play the whole game all right you've got three now clint now are we

Speaker 31032.58s - 1038.28s

going to go to defensive one see though now as i hear you talk as i hear you talk about floor and ceiling

Speaker 21038.28s - 1043.68s

and in the safety position and we're talking stone cold dudes we've got defensive line we've got

Speaker 31043.68s - 1045.34s

edge we've got line back. We've got Edge PRODUCT. We've got a linebacker left.

Speaker 21046.24s - 1048.36s

And truth be told, Daniel PERSON,

Speaker 31049.46s - 1056.9s

Edge PRODUCT made me yearn last year from the lack of production out of Edge. Now, I'm thinking clearly,

Speaker 01057.38s - 1069.64s

Deavis of Line ORG was fine. They were fine. We got a bunch of guys coming back. They're fine. And we have Christian Miller PERSON. We have Jared PERSON. We have dudes who are in the pipeline. We have a Xavier

Speaker 31069.64s - 1090.5s

Cloud coming in transfer portal, big old Haas. Okay. That's sharing some stuff up. So I think trenches were going to be fine. And fine to me is B plus a minus work. The ceiling is probably right there as well. Okay. So I'm going to switch it up. I think I'm going to go edge with number three. Okay. And the reason why.

Speaker 21090.92s - 1097.16s

The defense line just gets just get bumped up the ladder. Just keeps getting promoted. It ain't going to be number one. I'm going to tell you that right now.

Speaker 01097.62s - 1100s

It's edge to me. Yeah.

Speaker 31101.32s - 1112.56s

Because Chas Chambliss PERSON, look, you know how to do a couple things well, but we need you to take that step forward. Michael Williams PERSON hasn't accelerated. I see draft mocks of him going on the top five.

Speaker 21112.72s - 1115.96s

And I'm like, okay, in a combine, you're right.

Speaker 01115.96s - 1118.62s

I need to see the production on the field.

Speaker 31118.88s - 1119.66s

What is going on?

Speaker 21120.72s - 1125.48s

Now, again, we got Wilson PERSON on the edge as well.

Speaker 31127.94s - 1128.08s

Jim and Walker PERSON, we've seen him come in in sub packages,

Speaker 01130.7s - 1134.18s

but there hasn't been dude who's just stayed out there on the edge. We got a change of position to Mikel PERSON that gives me some hope,

Speaker 21134.24s - 1181.84s

but I'm going to go edge number three, Daniel PERSON. Do you like them being number three? I actually do, and it's the similar logic. This is a more talented position group than safety. But it's, it's Michael Williams PERSON and company. That's the edge position. And Michael Williams PERSON is probably going to be drafted higher than Malachi Stargs, but make no mistake. Based on what I've seen, they are not even similar football players. No.Like I, you could take that as a disrespect to Michael Williams PERSON all you want. Based on what I've seen so far, they're not the same. Now, hopes are very high for Mikel this year. And I mean, listen, I watched a guy named Lorenzo Carter just scuffle around for three years.

Speaker 01182s - 1184.7s

I mean, just kick rocks for three years.

Speaker 31184.7s - 1193.3s

And then he came out and played himself right into a fantastic senior season, NFL ORG draft pick,

Speaker 01193.3s - 1195.82s

and a very successful NFL ORG career.

Speaker 21195.96s - 1205.82s

This is ongoing. So it's not like I don't think that talent level is there. Michael Williams, and I mean, you saw him at G-Day Clint PERSON. He's,

Speaker 31206.18s - 1208.72s

he doesn't look normal.

Speaker 21209.14s - 1211.58s

He's different than the rest of them.

Speaker 31211.92s - 1214.02s

Mary Smith PERSON walks down dog walk and you're like,

Speaker 21214.12s - 1279.64s

whoa, whoa, dude. Same feeling for Mikel PERSON. And it's not the get off, like on the pass rush.It wasn't what I saw against the deep, the offensive tackles, even though I thought he looked good against the offensive tackles. He threw, he threw that back to the ground, Clint PERSON.And play a little, little chip right here. Boy, I saw some things. You mentioned Chas PERSON. I think Gabe Harris PERSON is a,is kind of a wild card. Yeah. In, in the edge room. And, you know, it's not fair. We're going to put him in both groups because we're going to talk about him again. But if you don't talk about Jaylen Walker when you talk about the edge, I think you're, I think you're kind of fooling yourself because that's where he lines up a decent amount of the time. And so he's an inside backer for sure. And we're going to talk about him again when we talk about the depth of the inside linebackers. But he's also an edge defender. And that elevates this unit. I like edge here. That's where I have them ranked as well.

Speaker 31279.8s - 1280.08s

All right.

Speaker 21280.38s - 1291.84s

And so we got two left. And their defensive line line backers will talk about them and see which one is number one right after this. All right, game off.

Speaker 31291.9s - 1295.48s

We got to pause here to talk about Monopoly Go PRODUCT. By the way, huge.

Speaker 01295.48s - 1296.58s

Speaker 21296.58s - 1309.04s

Speaker 31346.68s - 1347.72s

We have two position groups left.

Speaker 01347.82s - 1354.04s

Defensive line, inside linebackers are what remains for this defensive unit as we rank them. Where do you want to go for number two?

Speaker 21354.5s - 1383.62s

I can see the argument to be made actually for both of these. And I'm going to say, even though I think when you lead off next and talk about the linebackers, I think you're going to say that there's a big gap between one and two. I don't think, I actually don't think there is a big gap. I actually think the defensive line and the linebackers are kind of neck and

Speaker 31383.62s - 1389.76s

neck for which is going to be the best position group which we can quibble about one and two but just right there the fact that that

Speaker 21389.76s - 1395.98s

might be the case should give you dog fan insane confidence the strength is up the middle

Speaker 31395.98s - 1400.76s

the weakness is over the top the strength is up the middle like this is your georgia bulldogs

Speaker 21400.76s - 1405.06s

where have we heard that before this is? Yeah, this is, listen,

Speaker 31405.06s - 1410.12s

it's a recipe we have seen play out well for us.

Speaker 21410.3s - 1413.48s

Yeah. And then we watched last year also. So,

Speaker 31413.56s - 1414.54s

you know,

Speaker 01414.62s - 1418.48s

these things could go either way. Let's talk about the defensive line. I got them at two.

Speaker 21420.34s - 1443.06s

But if you want to talk about top and elite talent, yes, the defensive line is at two. If you want to talk about great quality depth, the defensive line is head and shoulders, the best position group on this roster.

Speaker 01443.32s - 1443.9s

Too deep.

Speaker 31444.34s - 1445.46s

On this roster, maybe deep. On this roster,

Speaker 01445.46s - 1447.02s

maybe with the exception

Speaker 21447.02s - 1461.22s

of wide receiver. But like the defensive line is crazy deep. Obviously Warren Brinson PERSON comes back. Nazeer Stackhouse PERSON comes back. And Tyrant Ingram Dawkins PERSON comes back.He was never really a threat to leave.

Speaker 31461.38s - 1463.5s

But those three guys come back.

Speaker 21464.44s - 1469.12s

Kristen Miller PERSON transferred. So you hate to see him go, but you just wish him the best.

Speaker 31469.54s - 1472.64s

Hold up. Hold up, Daniel PERSON. Oh, did he come back?

Speaker 01472.86s - 1480.78s

No, he came. So he came back after he transferred. Jordan Hall PERSON is back. Jamal Jared PERSON is back.

Speaker 21481.82s - 1489.44s

And then you bring in guys like Xavier McLeod PERSON. You bring in true freshman like Jonah PERSON, Joni PERSON, like that they're going to play.

Speaker 31489.9s - 1491.4s

Oh, he's going to play.

Speaker 01491.54s - 1492s

He's going to play.

Speaker 31492.78s - 1493.66s

Oh, he's,

Speaker 01494.1s - 1495.72s

and he's going to open.

Speaker 21495.98s - 1501.52s

Do you remember Michael Williams's freshman year? He's going to open some eyes when he plays.

Speaker 31502.24s - 1505.8s

So I just listed nine dudes.

Speaker 01507s - 1510.4s

And for what is essentially three spots.

Speaker 21510.78s - 1519.98s

So we're talking about a three deep at Georgia ORG on the defensive front. These guys are going to be fresh the whole game, which is going to make them play even better.

Speaker 31522.36s - 1525.8s

I don't even know who the best player on this unit is.

Speaker 21526.36s - 1529.14s

See, this is what was confusing why I wanted to rank them so low

Speaker 31529.14s - 1533.08s

because I couldn't answer that either. And that gave me pause, but keep going.

Speaker 21533.22s - 1536.42s

But then you say, who's the worst player on this unit?

Speaker 31537.04s - 1539.62s

And you look at how good they are,

Speaker 21540.12s - 1544.82s

and all of a sudden you're like, oh, my, that is, like,

Speaker 31544.82s - 1547.82s

that is a scary situation.

Speaker 01548.22s - 1551.64s

I think Warren Brinson PERSON is still the best player on the defensive line.

Speaker 21551.64s - 1646s

But I think there's a reasonable chance that either Kristen Miller or Jordan Hall could surpass him and Nazir Stackhouse this year and assert themselves as the preeminent player on the defensive front. And like, I mean, I'm telling you, there's a lot of guys on here. I mean, you could throw Jamal Jared PERSON in there too. I think he could have a big year and really pop this year. So there's so many guys on this defensive front. And to me, it's not the quality of the player. It's the quality of the situation that they're going to be put in, well-rested, and rotating in and constantly fresh and always getting a series off after they have a long series. That's going to make really good players look like great players on the field, especially in the fourth quarter when it matters. And so even though Georgia ORG might not have a superstar on the defensive line, and they might, but they might not have a superstar on the defensive line. You could be talking about six, seven guys that legitimately are playing like great football players all season long. And to me, that's why I think you've got to at least consider them as the number one strength of this defense. I got them at number two,but I think this is a very strong position group.

Speaker 31647.04s - 1657.7s

I think you use sound logic and wisdom, but let me just, let's get to the linebackers. It's the linebackers. And the reason, you know, you know when you're like shopping for cars and you do,

Speaker 21657.9s - 1662.76s

and you're just fell in love with a car and you're like, this is the car. This is my car. I love it.

Speaker 31663.06s - 1669.42s

And I'm looking at it. And I just, and the entire time, it's a good car. It's a great car. But you kind of emotionally

Speaker 21669.42s - 1673.5s

attached to it. But it's your car now. It's my. Yeah. Yeah. And then all of a sudden,

Speaker 31673.5s - 1720.48s

you look, you look over and somebody says, but have you seen this car? And you're like, no, I only have eyes for this. That's what it's been like for me with C.J. Allen PERSON. And now all of a sudden sudden as I'm getting reports, I'm hearing word more and more of Mr. Mondin PERSON come in here. Oh, yeah. Smile Mondin PERSON might just have an abject rocket booster season coming for him at the inside linebacker group.Yes. These two guys are first round talents at inside linebacker. Yes. Oh, and let's keep going because as you mentioned, Jalen Walker PERSON is also talent-wise, that dude, he's a Channing Tindal PERSON type inside linebacker. That's who he is.

Speaker 01720.62s - 1732.7s

Mistle. Okay, he's a missile. CJ Allen PERSON is more of a steady, true tackling. Smile Mountain ORG's a guy that's just an eraser all over the field, fast, athletic, agile.

Speaker 21732.9s - 1765.86s

I haven't mentioned the young guys that we haven't even seen yet get into game time action, but whose talent and reports from practice as well as G. Raylon Wilson, did he open some eyes at all, Daniel PERSON, for you? Because he did for me. I'll tell you this, C.J. Allen ain't the reason that Pops PERSON transferred. Raylon Wilson is the reason that Pops transferred. Okay. So that's all, I think, you should need to know about him. And so right now on the depth chart, he's not listed as the starter.

Speaker 31766.16s - 1768.74s

He's third on the depth chart right now.

Speaker 01770.06s - 1774.1s

And, but he going to play, Clint, a lot this year.

Speaker 21774.56s - 1778.34s

We have bona fide dudes at the inside linebacker position.

Speaker 31778.46s - 1781.46s

Another year, more weight, more strength, more knowledge.

Speaker 21781.56s - 1785.22s

CJ Allen holding him back last year was missed reads and missed assignments.

Speaker 31785.58s - 1787.46s

So Malmond PERSON wasn't healthy the whole time.

Speaker 01787.94s - 1789.02s

Now they're healthy.

Speaker 31789.22s - 1830.54s

Now they're a year and more in the system. More weights, more sprint, more conditioning. And these two guys are monsters with monsters behind them. Inside linebacker group gives me the confidence. This defense will be elite this year because of this group. Because Kirby Smart System, you got to have two dudes that can just make a, get off blocks, doesn't matter. Assignment doesn't matter if they, if offense made a great call. We were in a bad situation, blitz up the middle, all of a sudden outside run or a little screen game. You have to make up for those times on defense. And these guys are those racers. For me, inside linebacker is a clear number one. And it makes me thrilled this season.

Speaker 21831.04s - 1837.4s

You love to it. Troy Bulls, special teams monster, also plays inside linebacker and guys, Chris Cole PERSON.

Speaker 31838.18s - 1844.4s

Just pencil the name down. Write it down. Because the next car Clint PERSON's going to be looking at

Speaker 21844.4s - 1865.56s

and forgetting about his current CJ Allen car his name's Chris Cole PERSON so if you want to get ahead of it you go ahead and look there he's Clint I'm Daniel PERSON this is the lockdown bulldogs podcast that is the defensive position group rankings we will be back next week we got a lot that we're going to try to cover we might have some guests we're going to have some guests.

Speaker 31865.56s - 1867.28s

We don't know what's going to happen.

Speaker 01867.36s - 1873.24s

We need a post-production meeting. But we will talk to you and see you guys then. See you. See you.
