I'm going to be talking about my pick for the Locked-on Podcast Network mock draft that dropped Wednesday night. But I wanted to dive into something that we haven't talked about yet leading into the draft process. And that is the Buccaneers' top 30 visits that they've conducted. So for those that don't know, top 30 visits are when teams are allowed to bring draft prospects into their facility. You can conduct interviews, get to know them better, show them around, you know, just really get some one-on-one time with some of these prospects. Now, if a player lives or attends school within 50 miles of the facility,it doesn't count against the top 30 visits. So that allows teams to have more than 30 players come into their facility. So who all have the bucks had in one buck place ahead of the NFL draft? I'm going to run through these really quick. Texas running back Jonathan Brooks PERSON, Florida State wide receiver Keon Coleman, Western Kentucky wide receiver Malachi Corley, Illinois tight end tip Reiman, Kansas state tight, Ben Senate, Oregon Center, Jackson Powers Johnson, Wisconsin Center, Tenor Bortolini, Western Michigan Edge, Marshawn Neeland, Florida State Edge, Jared Verse, Texas defensive tackle, Byron Murphy, Clemson defensive tackle, Rook, or, oh, I am going to butcher this guy's name. I practiced it quite a bit before this live stream. I'm still going to mess it up.Orororo PERSON. Aurora PERSON. Anyway, Texas A&M linebacker, Edgarin Cooper, Kentucky linebacker, Trevin Wallace, Clemson ORG, linebacker, linebacker, Jeremiah Trotter, Jr., Alabama quarterback cornerback, Cool Aid McKinstree PERSON, Michigan quarterback, Mike San Ristill, Air Force Safety, Trey Taylor, and Georgia Safety, Tyke Smith PERSON. So a couple of takeaways here from the list of players that we know have visited theBuccaneers. First, do not assume that the Buccaneers are for sure taking one of those players with their first pick. If these guys are first round projected prospects, do not assume that just because they were in the building, they are going to be taken at 26. Colizia Cancy, the Buc's first round pick last year, did not come in for one of the Buccaneers top 30 visits last year. So this is not tipping the Buc's hand in any way, shape, or four. But that said, one of the things that jumped out to me right away is that both of their top 30 visits with offensive linemen were centers. Now, is that indicative of their feelings towards Robert Hainsey moving into next season? I don't think so. But, is that indicative of their feelings towards Robert Hainesi moving into next season? I don't think so, but it is interesting that we have heard Jackson Powers Johnson PERSON connected with the Buccaneers ORG a lot during the pre-draft process. And then they also took time to bring in Bordalini, who was projected to be a day three pick, and you have two very opposite ends ofthe spectrum there. But the only offensive linemen they've had in have been centers. No guards, no tackles. The other thing that jumped out to me was the number of players at each position that were brought in. One running back, two wide receivers, two tight ends, two centers, two edge rushers, two defensive tackles, three linebackers, two safeties, two corners. So outside of linebacker, no more than two players at any given position, but all positions that we have talked about on this show a lot as being big needs for the team. No quarterbacks, no tackles, no guards, but twos across the board everywhere except running back and linebacker. Now, of course, there's still time for them to bring in more players and those numbers will fluctuate. But when you look at how this shakes out, you have a day two running back. You have two day two wide receivers. You have two day three tight ends. You have one first round and one day three center. You have one first round, one day two edge. You have one first round and one day two defensive tackle. You have three day three linebackers. Then you have a first round and a day two defensive tackle. You have three day three linebackers. Then you have a first round and a day two corner, though Koolaid McKinstree could find himself slipping into the second round. So potentially two day two corners and then finally two day three safeties. So at the surface level, you kind of see the priorities here for the Buccaneers ORG. You have edge, offensive linemen, defensive tackle, wide receiver, running back, linebacker, and then you have cornerback safety and tight end, kind of rounding things out. Now, again, this could all be a lot of nothing, and maybe the Bucks draft one of these players. Maybe they don't. But it looks like they are definitely prioritizing some of these positions that we'vetalked about on the show quite a bit. And that's no surprise. We all knew that the bucks were weak in those spots and they had to be addressed. But of the players that have come in for visits, you're really looking at some priorities placed on some of these first round, beginning of the second round kind of players versus some of these day three guys. And again, I circle back to the offensive line because I have talked a lot on this show about finding a starting guard. And I know a lot of people are really big on Jackson Powers Johnson PERSON coming in, being the starting center. But the fact that they brought in no guards, or at least no players that are projected to switch to guard, like a Graham Barton PERSON, who was a tackle,is projected to transition over to the guard position. And then just the mass difference between the two centers that they brought in. You have a first round pick, a plug-in-play center, which would allow you to move Robert Hainsey PERSON over to guard. And then you have a day three guy that may not even crack the starting lineup. More than likely wouldn't crack the starting lineup. And you would be looking at Opetta and Bredesen competing for that guard spot and leaving Robert Hainsey PERSON at center if Bordellini would be the choice for the Buccaneers ORG. But again, you don't want to read too much into this because these teams conduct these top 30 visitsfor a myriad of reasons. A lot of times, it's just to get to know a player better. And Jason Light PERSON and his scouts and his crew are already building files on guys that they know they will not be able to draft. They're building files on guys like, I'm trying to think of a good example here. We'll just throw out Caleb Williams.Let's give Caleb Williams as an example. The bucks know that they're not going to get Caleb Williams, but they're going to have a file ready for them because at some point, they may need a quarterback and it may coincide with a point in time when Caleb Williams could be hitting free agency or become available to trade. So they start building up all of this information and their interactions and their feelings on these players and continue to monitor them throughout the early part of their career. So it's not strictly based on guys that they're going to draft. And then again, you're also looking at bringing in guys that are going to be day three picks or not picked at all. And then you can build a rapport with them. You can develop a relationship with them, stay in contact with them. And now all of a sudden, right after the draft, when the undrafted free agency begins, they are going to remember the way that they were treatedby the Buccaneers ORG and maybe prioritize them over some of the other offers that they have gotten. Going to jump into the chat real quick before we hit that first break. Narav in the chat says, imagine a light moves up to get verse PERSON. That line would be lethal. No doubt about it. And verse may be one of those guys that they have in on a top 30 visit that they don't feel like they're going to be able to get, but you'rebuilding a rapport, you're building a file, you're building that scouting report should verse become a free agent down the line. We have word, ward. Ward Burns PERSON says, looks like they want trenches in rounds one and two, offensive skill players rounds three through five and special teams and linebackers late. Possibly, we are going to talk more about that coming up here in just a minute because of those players that have come in for visits, which ones are the best fits? That is coming up next on today's episode ofLocked on Bucks, part of the Locked on podcast network, your team every day. Let's get straight to the point. There are some really interesting players among the Buc's top 30 visits that we have not talked about a lot on this show. So to me, going over this list, which players are the best fit? And you all are well aware, especially those of you in the chat. And shout out to all of you in the chat. You guys are awesome. I see, you know, we've already talked to Ward PERSON. We got ScottyJay. We got Al Bundy PERSON in there. You guys are crushing it. But you all are well aware of how much I would like to see the Bucks draught, Audrick Estime, the running back out of Notre Dame. But Jonathan Brooks PERSON is crazy talented and he seems to be the consensus top running back in the draft. So last year, 187 carries for 1,135 yards and 10 touchdowns plus 25 receptions on 29 targets for another 286 yards. This is a 6 foot 210 pound running back and he has everything you want, especially given how strong he is and how good he is in short yardage situations. Now, he did suffer a torn ACL, which may cause his stock to drop a little bit.But if the bucks are going to have a chance to draft him, it's going to be in the second round. He checks off all the boxes. He can run with speed. He can run with power. He can catch out of the backfield. He can post up in pass protection, and he can convert short yardage. Now, I don't know if the bucks are going to prioritize running back so much that they take one in the second round, but if they do, Brooks PERSON, I think, should be the only running back that they consider taking that high in the draft. We've talked about plenty of running backs in this draft. You have Ray Davis, who's going to be available in the third round. You have Allen out of Wisconsin who's going to be available in probably the third round. Audrick PERSON estimate may slip all the way to pick125 in the fourth round. These are still big impact running backs that can come in, make a difference for the Buccaneers ORG, and you don't have to spend that super high capital in the second round. But if Brooks PERSON is there, I would have a hard time arguing against that pick if he was the selection for the Buccaneers ORG, depending on what they did in the first round and who else is available. He is a game changer of a running back. Next up on my list is Keon Coleman, the wide receiver out of Florida State ORG.And I have mentioned him in passing, but I haven't really talked about him in depth a lot on this show. He's another player that would have to be a second round pick. And like Brooks PERSON, they may have to move up if they're going to get him. But what in addition it would be if the bucks were able to land Keon Coleman. 6-4-215. He is the perfect compliment for Mike Evans PERSON on the outside. He can take the top off the defense. He is a contested catch machine. Only 658 yards last season, but 11 touchdowns. Then you go back to 2022. He was right on the cusp of 800 receiving yards, had seventouchdowns. He could easily slide in as you're locked and loaded wide receiver three, played most of his snaps on the outside last year. But he jumped from 23 to 119 snaps out of the slot from 2022 to 2023. That gives the bucks more versatility to move Coleman PERSON, Mike Evans, and Chris Godwin PERSON all over the place on the field and really create some serious mismatches.Again, I don't know if I love the idea of the Bucks ORG moving up to ensure that they land Coleman PERSON. I think he'd be a great addition, but I don't know if he would be that much better than guys that are also in the same range. You still have Ricky Pearsall, you know, Jalen Polk, Xavier Leggett PERSON, like those guys, does Keon Coleman PERSON really bring you that much more than those other guysthat you can get without having to move up or even potentially some third round targets they can get at 89 or 92 there at the tail end of day two. And then finally, edge rusher Marchon Neeland PERSON, again, another guy that I mentioned kind of in passing when talking about potential day two targets if the bucks don't go edge in the first round. But I haven't really done a dive into him as a prospect. So Neeland had six sacks last season. It was honestly the model of consistency for the Broncos ORG. His pass rush win rate was 17.3% last year, which is pretty impressive. And for comparison, Dallas Turner out of Alabama, who's expected to be the first edge rusher off the board, had a 19.6% past rush win rate. So only 2.3% more successful on average than March on Neelan PERSON.Then you look at Dallas Turner's run stop rate. It was 4.2%. Neelan's? Yeah, 11%. That's a pretty huge difference. And if there's one thing we know about Todd Bowles, it's that he wants his defenders to be stout against the run. Neelan is 6-3-275. He ran a 4-7-540, but more importantly than that, a 1.66 10-yard split. That initial get-off is explosive. And that's a whole lot of size and strength coming at an offensive line. 1.66 10 yards split. That initial get-off is explosive, and that's a whole lot of size and strength coming at an offensive lineman in a hurry. And I know you're sitting there saying, well, why is a guy like that a day two pick instead of a day one pick? And it's because he still has shortcomings. He still has things, you know, as a part of his game that needs more work.He relies on his speed and strength to win at the line, and he doesn't have a whole lot in terms of pass rush moves in his arsenal. Those are a necessity at the NFL ORG level. He's not going to win his reps based on just size and speed alone. So he could also be overly aggressive, which Bucks ORG fans are familiar with, and that can lead to breakdowns in big place for the opposing offense. But those are fixable issues. And I think if I'm the Bucks ORG, and I take a look at these three guys that I honestly think are the best fits for the Bucks based on the guys that they've had in outside of Jared Verse PERSON. Jared versus obviously the, he and Jackson Powers Johnson PERSON are the cream of the crop in terms of fits for the Bucks ORG. But outside of those two, I think these three guys are the best fits for what the Buccaneers want to do, where they want to improve, and what these players bring.I think Neeland is the best choice in the second round over Brooks or Coleman PERSON. But I have to say that I really like the idea of any of these three players potentially joining the Bucks if they end up drafting one of them. Gonna jump into the chat real quick. So we got to hit the next break. Ward Byrne says if we take Johnny Wilson PERSON, I convert him to a tight end.Maybe. I don't know if I love that idea. I think Wilson PERSON's a solid enough receiver that you just kind of leave that one alone and you let him go out there and be the wide receiver three. receiver three. Sean Wallace says Jack Rabbit at left guard. That was Evan Kloskey's pick on WTSP Wednesday when we had Evans PERSON first mock draft on the show. You know, it was, and for the life of me now, I can't remember his name. It's been a long couple weeks. But yeah, South Dakota State, the rival of Cody Malk PERSON there. And that would be a pretty solid, you know, later pick for the Bucks ORG if they focus on some other positions earlier on in the draft. But also speaking of mock drafts, I explain my pick from the Locked-on NFL Network ORG mock draft. That is coming up next on today's episode of Locked-on Bucks WORK_OF_ART.We've all been there. And for those of you that have seen or listened to the Locked-on NFL ORG mock draft that we did as a network, thank you. We appreciate it. There is a lot of work that goes into that mock draft every single year. And we really have a fun time doing it. But it is a labor of love. There is no doubt about it. For those of you that have not seen or listen to it, please go check it out.But I'm going to drop a spoiler. So if you're planning on listening or watching that mock draft, hit pause on this one. Go listen to that or watch it, and then come back for my explanation on my pick. But I wanted to give you guys a little peek behind the curtain as to how all of this unfolded, because I'm going to be transparent with you. I feel I'm generally transparent with all of you. This was one of the most stressful things I have ever endured. So at Pick 26, I ended up taking Edge Rush or Chop Robinson out of Penn State ORG. And I know some of you are already upset with me for that. That's fine.

Speaker 01754.54s - 1763.5s

This was a hard draft for me because I had a plan going in and then chaos absolutely ensued.

Speaker 21763.5s - 2390.22s

So my plan going into this was to get into the mid to late teens and take either Jared Verse or La Jatu Latu PERSON. I wanted to come away with one of those two guys and I was willing to pay a very steep price for that. So I had worked the phones leading up to this draft and I had tentative deals inplace with the Indianapolis Colts at 15, the Jacksonville Jaguars at 17, and the Pittsburgh Steelers at 20. So pick 15 rolls around. Both verse and Latu are available. I call the Colts ORG. They tell me that they're staying put and drafting Brian Thomas Jr. who was one of their top guys on their board. Okay, no big deal. Just need to get past the Seahawks pick at 16.Then I know for sure one of my two targets is going to be there. Well, the Seahawks take JPJ PERSON. And so now I still have my choice of Jared versus La Jatou, and I call the Jags ORG to get that trade finalized and make the move. I got ghosted. No reply to the text message. No reply to the DM. He's saying in our group chat that the pick is available for trade. I'm trying to get a hold of him to put our trade through. And mind you, I'm doing all this while driving my son home from his hockey tryout that night. So I am at the mercy of people actually looking at their phones andjust nothing. He stays at 17. He takes wide receiver at Donnie Mitchell. So now I have to turn my attention to the Steelers ORG, and I have to hope that one of my two guys makes it through the next two picks so that I can move up to 20. Now, the Steelers tell me that there is one player in particular that they want at 20. And if he is gone, the pick is mine. So I'm doingall right. Meanwhile, at pick 19, the Rams take Latu at 19. Okay, no big deal. Jared Verse PERSON is still there. But so was Fuaga, who was the one guy the Steelers ORG wanted. So now there's no trade. I'm in full-blown panic mode because I know I'm at risk of losing Jaredverse. And before I can reach out to the Dolphins ORG to try to get their pick, they just take Jaredverse PERSON. So now I'm stuck. But I know that a certain former co-host of this show is trying to jump up with the Packers, one pick ahead of me, and he wanted either an edgerusher or an offensive lineman. So I'm trying to move up so that my good friend David Harrison PERSON cannot snipe my pick. Luckily, the Packers wanted Cooper de Gene PERSON. He was there. I was able to land Chop Robinson PERSON. And it was for all the reasons that I have said in the past.Athletic freak, solid player that can grow and excel under Todd Bowles tutelage. But now I look back and I regret that pick. And that happens sometimes. Teams, GMs, coaches, scouts, they take players and they realize that it was the wrong move. And I think if this network mock had taken place a week later than it did, I would have taken Graham Barton over Chop Robinson PERSON. He ended up going the very next pick to the Arizona Cardinals ORG.And Alex Clancy of Lockdown Cardinals ORG messaged me saying, you jerk, you took my pick when I drafted Chop Robinson PERSON. He then took Graham Barton PERSON. And I messaged him right back. And I was like, to me, it was between Chop and Barton and I opted for Chop. Now, I still like Chop Robinson PERSON. Don't get me wrong there. And I don't hate making that pick. But I think Barton PERSON is the more polished prospect that's a plug and play starter. And his impact will likely be more immediate, whereas Chop Robinson may take a few real NFL weeks to get himself into a groove and start to show signs of the potential that so many people see in him. Now, the only other player that was in consideration for me at 26 beyond chop and Barton was Kool-Aid McKinstree PERSON. And I tried to trade back into the back end of the first round and land Kool-Aid McKinstree, but I just couldn't get things ironed out quick enough, and he ended up going 29th to the Detroit Lions ORG. So it shows kind of a change in philosophy from me. I mean, if you go back early on when I startedtalking about the NFL draft, I was all in on Chop Robinson PERSON. And I think some of that spilled over into this mock on top of me going through the emotions of trying to get deals done, not being able to get deals done, really being hyper-focused on law to reverse, not being able to get them. And so I took who I thought was the next best edge rusher instead of really just taking a moment, taking a deep breath and saying, you know what, Graham Barton PERSON might be the better fit for this team right now. But, you know, it happens. And who knows? Chop Robinson PERSON very well could be the pick for the Buccaneers when next Thursday rolls around. Going to jump into the chat one more time real quick before we get out of here. We got Michael Daniels in the chat saying Chop will be a second rounder. He could slide to the second round. I don't think he will. I think his upside is so intriguing. And his athletic measurables are so off the charts that someone is going to take a shot on him and probably Darius Robinson PERSON before the firstround is over, especially knowing that they get that fifth round or that, that fifth year option on that rookie deal. But I can see why you would believe that Robinson is a second rounder because he's not a polished product. He has all the upside in the world. He has the tangibles. But as I've compared Chop Robinson PERSON to in the past, he is a wet block of clay. And he has to be molded. And I think Todd Bowles is one of those guys, as is Casey Rogers PERSON. They're as one of the defensive coaches. I think those are some of the right guys that can mold chop Robinson PERSON into his potential. Not every team can. It's kind of like the situation that you see with quarterbacks. Quarterbacks can succeed in the NFL ORG or they can fail in the NFL based on who they have coaching them up and being able to really get the most out of them. That's why, you know, guys like Justin Fields PERSON, who I wasn't, you guys know, I wasn't big on Justin Fields coming out. I'm still not big on him. But that was one of the worst situations for him was to go to that Chicago Bears ORG team because they didn't have the infrastructure to really get the most out of a potentialfranchise quarterback. It's why a lot of people are concerned about Caleb Williams. It's why you might be concerned about Jaden Daniels PERSON based on where he goes. So it's just one of those situations where you got to take a swing on the upside because if you're too scared to pull the trigger and then he ends up becoming the next big thing, you know, listeners and viewers of this show, we're going to look back and say, man, we really missed out on a guylike Chop Robinson PERSON. Narav in the chat says Latu PERSON seems to be falling due to the medicals. That's something that I've mentioned on the show a couple times as well. For those of you who are starting to get ready for the draft and joining in for the first time, I have mentioned that Latu PERSON could slide further than he should because teams are going to be concerned about those medicals and his injury history.Al Bundy in the chat says, I would take Kool-Aid over Barton PERSON. I wouldn't. But again, you know, your opinion is that Kool-Aid PRODUCT would come in and be the better NFL ORG player at a position for the Buccaneers ORG.We'll see how it all pans out. I think Barton PERSON is for sure, just a plug-and- play starter on the offensive line. And I think that's a bigger need right now than corner. But again, other people see things different ways. And that is that is perfectly, perfectly fine. Divis Druid LAW, last one that I'm going to get to today. We are drafting law two or verse. I solidly believe this is what is happeningin round one. Druid, I hope you're right, because you all know that I would be super hyped on that live show after the first round if we are talking about Jared Burs or Laotu Latu PERSON being the newest buccaneers. But that is going to do it for this episode again. Thank you so much to all of you who were just going crazy in the live chat. I appreciate each and every one of you. I love you all so much. You make this really, really fun. Make sure you're coming back for the final mock draft Mondayof 2024. Super excited. It's draft week. We are coming up on officially draft week.
