Speaker 20s - 30.04s

It's the Lockdown Podcast Network, your team every day. We've got another commit to talk about, let's talk about the athlete out of Minnesota that the Badgers ORG landed on the defensive or our offensive or offensive. Our offensive side, I don't know, he's an athlete. Let's talk about it next on Lockdown Badgers ORG. We got Justin PERSON, you got me. Let's go.You are Locked on Badgers WORK_OF_ART. Your daily

Speaker 030.04s - 36.5s

podcast on the Wisconsin Badgers, part of the Locked On Podcast Network, your team every day.

Speaker 238.64s - 52.16s

What is good Badger fans? Welcome to Lockdown Badgers. You got that guy, Justin PERSON over there. I am Ryan PERSON. Thank you so much for tuning in. We got to commit. I did a really quick video short on it, but we got to sound the cannons. I'm not going to loop it this time. I turn the loop off.

Speaker 153s - 53.98s

Fire the record. I'm proud of you, kid.

Speaker 254.52s - 57.88s

Another one is headed to Madison on Wisconsin ORG.

Speaker 161.16s - 61.56s

Nice.

Speaker 261.92s - 62.26s

It worked.

Speaker 162.72s - 62.96s

All right.

Speaker 063.16s - 65.7s

Luke Emerich, 6-1-195.

Speaker 265.78s - 81.54s

I've seen a list a couple different spots out of Minnesota ORG. Really blowing up recently, right? Justin PERSON, you and I have talked about that, whether it's offers or it's just schools coming in to see him. Like I said, I did a quick short on it, but I want to get your thoughts on the commitment to player and kind of the blow-up and interest.

Speaker 182.48s - 183.14s

Yeah, this is a really interesting one because I had tagged you kind of on this when it first happened with the, when we offered him, kind of looking at it like, okay, this is interesting. We're going after another safety. And I tried to look up film on him. And when I look for film, I'm like, I can't find anything that's from this year or from this last year.I'm like, I don't know if he was injured or what but there's nothing out there i'm like looking at the sophomore film there's things to like he's definitely got speed the speed pops on film and he is twitchy um so there there are some definite things to like i wish i had more to look at with him because a lot of his film was on offense and i don't think he's going to be an offensive player for us. So when I look at it, it's like, what am I trying to picture this guy as? And it kind of came out that he's not going to be a guy that he's not going to be a safety, which, okay, there's not so many positions that he's out there for, potentially offensive. I don't know if I buy that, especially for a kid that's had an ACL injury, two on the same knee at this point. I look at that and I'm like, I don't think you want that guy constantly cutting on that knee trying to do double moves and stuff like that. You want to try to limit his cutting as much as possible. You'd rather have him flowing downhill. There was talk that he might be in the dollar position. I actually think that that's probably a really good fit for him.I think he's got the speed to play in space. He's kind of a tweener. If you think about it, if he puts on some weight, you can easily see him getting that 215, 220 range, if he puts on weight. And I think he can do that with better speed and better movement ability in space than most of the guys that we have.

Speaker 2184.08s - 197.08s

Yeah, that's a really good synopsis, which Justin PERSON is always really good at. I kind of thinking, this is the point I made in my short, is it feels a little like you just take a tool. Like I do baseball analogies a lot in the show because I love baseball.

Speaker 1197.52s - 200.82s

But it feels like you just take a toolsy high school pitcher that can throw hard.

Speaker 2201.04s - 216.46s

And then listen, if he becomes a reliever, a setup man, a starter, like, wherever it becomes, like you just need athletes. And athletic traits translate. Just, I wanted to ask you, like, what's the best recruiting attribute of this staff? And I kind of feel like it's just getting toolsy guys with upside to some degree.

Speaker 1216.46s - 235.78s

I think it definitely is. I think their evaluation ability in terms of being able to identify physical traits is exceptional. I think they trust themselves inherently to be able to go out there and be able to coach these guys up based off of that and say,

Speaker 0236.02s - 238.16s

it's my job to now that I've got them in here,

Speaker 1238.56s - 299.72s

turn them into a player. But I want the best physical tools I can have from a guy coming in to be able to work off of. I think we've seen that at every position. There's very few guys that I've looked at where it's like, this is a high floor guy who maybe has some limited upside. It's always guys, like we've talked about this at nauseam and people will sit there and compare therecruiting between Chris PERSON and him and fickle. And I look at it and I'm like, it's not the same. Like I'm watching the film on these guys. It's not even close athletically between these guys. And what we're getting the difference is you're getting, I feel like the ratings were probably more accurate on the Chris PERSON onesbecause of the fact that they were high floor guys that a lot of it's like, all right, well, we know what this guy is. He's just not likely to go beyond that rank. When I look at the ones for fickle, some of them may be somewhat in line, but I look at it and you're like, based on this guy's potential, like if they do anything with him, this guy's going to be a freak by the time he gets done.

Speaker 0299.92s - 303.26s

And that's how it was a Brandon Ains PERSON. Like we looked at that film and I'm like,

Speaker 1304.1s - 315.1s

this guy's, he's going to be an absolute stud. Like the instincts are there and the physical talent is there. Like he puts on 15 pounds of beef. He's going to be running all over the field just blowing people up. Yeah.

Speaker 2315.72s - 318.12s

Like it's all physical projection with them.

Speaker 1318.12s - 321.94s

But you look at the guys they bring in and it's all dudes who if they live up to the ceiling,

Speaker 0322.04s - 333.2s

which a lot of them won't. That's recruiting. But the guys that do, they're going to be NFL ORG draftics. Like they just have, even on the offensive line, you look at the physical traits of a Mandel, of a Haywood, like of a Corey PERSON.

Speaker 2333.4s - 341.6s

Like they're bringing in. And this is another one where, yes, he's had injury issues. But here's the thing with the injury issues. I tend to think if all these schools are starting to get around, they've seen workout film.

Speaker 0341.82s - 343.78s

And they're pretty good with where the knee is at.

Speaker 2343.9s - 356.26s

And it's no guarantee, but these schools aren't wasting time on a guy if they're really worried about the knee is my point. And when I say schools like USC ORG's gotten in on them, Washington, Ohio State's been in for a visit. Alabama GPE reached out. Alabama reached out.

Speaker 1356.98s - 360.56s

These schools, Alabama GPE doesn't need to reach out for a guy unless they think the knee's

Speaker 2360.56s - 366.38s

going to be good is the bigger point. Yeah. They've clearly seen something. Like, they're not going off a sophomore film.

Speaker 1367.1s - 367.34s

Yeah.

Speaker 2367.5s - 372.92s

Or they're chasing offers, which maybe in the case of Alabama GPE,

Speaker 1374.52s - 384.94s

maybe I guess you could see that with Ohio State and with Alabama GPE. I think Hitler trust, I think Hitler's kind of seen inside the machine. And it's kind of like if they're offering somebody, he's probably a dude.

Speaker 0390.18s - 398.86s

And I think that Ohio State really trusts fickle in terms of like his evaluation too so those are two schools that i could see it i i will i will totally just be blunt and say that

Speaker 1398.86s - 414.46s

i go on the minnesota board and and read their stuff i've never seen so many people like try to talk down his his 11 or his 10, 6, 9, 100, and turn it into like, oh, he runs an 11-5. Like, this is just a freak wind day DATE.

Speaker 0416.6s - 418.3s

I'm sorry to tell you this.

Speaker 1418.76s - 423.52s

Wisconsin is not going to offer a kid simply based off of the 100 time.

Speaker 2424.1s - 426.44s

They're just not. They want to see

Speaker 0426.44s - 431.74s

the other traits that follow along with that. Like they like the speed. That may get them to

Speaker 2431.74s - 437.42s

dig deeper, which I think everyone should when that happens. You see an eye-popping number like

Speaker 0437.42s - 442s

that, and suddenly you have to take a second look at it and be like, okay, well, did I miss

Speaker 1442s - 459.94s

something here? And especially with a kid like this, where he didn't play junior year, a lot of teams probably weren't on him. So you're looking at it like, yeah, we completely missed this kid because there was nothing to be found on him last year, which a lot of teams start at the beginning of a kid's junior year DATE, unless he's just an

Speaker 2459.94s - 502.58s

absolute freak show. John Berger says we need Justin PERSON on the defensive line. We've tried it. Apparently, there's no eligibility left. We're going to take a quick break, come back and finish up this quick talk. And this is mostly just about Emmerich, but I also want to ask Justin PERSON, whose stock has gone up the most from one spring football start to now I did my show on that. And I'm curious if Justin PERSON aligns with one of my guys. But we do need to take a quick break for our friends of the show. Our first friends of the show is over at game time. Game time is your spot for all your tickets, whatever you need, whatever you need to buy for an entertainment standpoint. If you want to buy some tickets to the gun show when Justin PERSON's over at the gym working out, listen, you could probably find that on game time.I don't know what kind of prices you're going to go there. Ladies line up, probably that front row seat is kind of spendy, Justin PERSON.

Speaker 1503.72s - 505.26s

Literally never had that happen.

Speaker 2506.62s - 575.34s

If those tickets are there, they're going to be on GameTime because GameTime is your number one source for all your parts, all your, all your ticket, I'm not parts. Use all your tickets. The largest inventory of tickets are the best prices, pictures of the seats before you sit down. Download the GameTime app today. Use code locked on for $20 off. Ebent Motors ORG is a place that I needed as a young car owner when I was just and I told a story. I got my Jeep PRODUCT stuck and I sewed up my soft top with like fishing line and I gooped it with that black tar.It was terrible. And then I got home and my wife's like, what happened? Oh, no. Like I'm terrible. Anyway, I could have used even motors. All the parts you'd need over 100 million parts. I don't even know where you'd put all those. Speaker 1575.68s - 578.86s

Yeah, I'm flaking this one right at the bat. Is it A Hills PRODUCT?

Speaker 2579.48s - 580.52s

I didn't say Hills PRODUCT, yeah.

Speaker 1580.86s - 581.48s

A Hills PRODUCT plays.

Speaker 2582.08s - 584.2s

Are you too concerned that we don't have a lot of four-star guys?

Speaker 1584.3s - 658.78s

No, I'm not at all. Having watched the film on most of these guys, they have a lot of guys that I think can rise. And even if they don't, I trust the evaluations on these. There's multiple guys that when I look at them, my rating for them is around four-star or very close to being there. So they got talent coming in. I can tell you that right now. There's guys that are undervalued. Even with a guy like Emmerich PERSON, I look at it and I'm like, if he hits, like if this, if he puts out good scene in your film, he could be a four star. Like the speed plays. If you have a four or five safety, that's a guy if he has any type of instinctsand ability to play down hill. And he's physically projectable. He's not an undersized safety. If he's a 4-5 guy at 6-1, you have probably close to a 4-star unless he just looks in that on the backside. And I don't think that's going to be the case. There are multiple other guys in this class that I've already projected that I think are going to be or should be. Ains is one of them. I just brought him up before. If I gave him an e-val now, I'd probably have him like 91-92. I think that he, the odds of him not being a playmaker at Wisconsin are pretty darn low. I think he's that talented. I think I'm a little more in the middle. I agree

Speaker 2658.78s - 664.1s

with you on Ains PERSON, by the way. Physically, that dude's a heat-seeking scud missile out there.

Speaker 1664.66s - 665.84s

You're not as high in jimir scott

Speaker 2665.84s - 671.92s

as me and i i'm not i think that he's a four-star i think that he's right around that but i don't

Speaker 1671.92s - 676.88s

but i think he's a four-star i'm not as high on jimir scott PERSON he's fine like he's good by the way

Speaker 2676.88s - 683.98s

just showed out at a camp recently for rivals i believe okay i like i here's the thing i feel

Speaker 1683.98s - 685.84s

like if we had four stars, we would trumpet it.

Speaker 2686.02s - 688.26s

So I feel like it's fair if we don't have four stars.

Speaker 1688.6s - 689.38s

And that's fair.

Speaker 2689.96s - 695.6s

I don't want us to ever come across as one of those guys that are just like every recruit is a diamond in the road.

Speaker 1695.6s - 696.56s

And I don't think you're that.

Speaker 2696.72s - 704.32s

I do think there's some spots where, listen, receiver, defense align, you still need elite talent there. And we haven't fully hit those yet this cycle.

Speaker 0705.36s - 707.82s

So I think there's spots thoughts running back as well.

Speaker 2708.28s - 710.84s

I don't think we're at the same pace we were at last cycle.

Speaker 0710.94s - 716.64s

Now, that being said, there's some really interesting cornerback prospects that are going to be coming through. Mason Posa is a four-star type lineback.

Speaker 1717.48s - 721.84s

I'm going to be doing an e-val on him shortly, and he's going to be a 90-plus. I can tell you the road.

Speaker 2722.14s - 723.32s

He doesn't play anybody.

Speaker 1723.74s - 729.76s

It's a competition thing, but he is. Yeah, but you can see the physically projectable tools. Unless he's a guy that just

Speaker 2729.76s - 735.38s

falters when he actually gets challenged by somebody of similar athleticism, he's not going to be a failure.

Speaker 1735.82s - 739.9s

So I would say I'm a little more concerned than Justin PERSON. I'm not hugely concerned yet,

Speaker 2739.96s - 750.26s

but I do think it's off the pace of last year. Justin, I want to throw this one up here. Badger ORG and Boramulte said, how long have you had this show now and Ryan PERSON? When did we start? Two years ago? Was it two?

Speaker 1750.8s - 755.66s

I think it's a little over that now. It's like February or something like that of 22, I think.

Speaker 2755.94s - 768.94s

I feel like that's right. So what people don't know is that we recorded our first shows. I was in Guantanamo Bay. I was actually in Gitmo FAC. At a place called the Man Camp, which is actually the name of it, recording our first show.

Speaker 1769.1s - 771.18s

Ryan PERSON was telling me stories of giant rats.

Speaker 2772.44s - 793.6s

So our first shows of the bucket of, sorry, not the Bucketka, not the Bucky Report or the buck around. I've locked on. I was in Gipmo GPE for it. Really quick, I wanted to ask you, because I did this show on this, who is the number one riser for you from when spring? So obviously we we love trech PERSON but you already had super high expectationsfor trech PERSON who has raised their stock the most for you i if i had to say right off the bad here

Speaker 1793.6s - 857.12s

i'm probably going to go with well at least what i'm hearing from camp is probably peterson now i have to see it with him because I was harsh on him last year. I will flat out admit it. I was very harsh on some of his effort in terms of last season. And if these guys have him playing harder, I'm all for it. I would love to see him kind of show some of the promise that made us so high on him coming out of him.I mean, he had a Bama ORG offer. Like, coming out of high school, he was a guy that we thought was going to be an absolute stud. I think John Berger here saying, Hiberger, I don't know about next Bosa PERSON, but I think both guys are hits. Him and Annelo PERSON, the fact that they're flashing as true freshman in a spring ball, that's, that is not common. The last player I heard do that was Nick Herbig PERSON. And I think that those guys probably would be playing if they had, if we had no,if we had the depth chart that we had when Herbig PERSON came in, I think these two guys would be playing.

Speaker 2858.44s - 864.1s

Yeah, I went with a couple of guys I went with, so I totally were with you on Peterson PERSON. I think I listened to him. I went with Lofi PERSON is another guy,

Speaker 1864.1s - 868.26s

a guy that we, I thought

Speaker 0868.26s - 871.48s

Lofi was probably a transfer guy, and now he's pushing into the two deep and playing.

Speaker 1871.64s - 873.12s

Sounds like he's number one in the slot.

Speaker 0873.82s - 875.94s

They've moved round out of the slot because of it.

Speaker 1876.38s - 880.52s

By the way, can we point out like how cool it is for the guys that stick around who have been

Speaker 2880.52s - 884.08s

buried, who see a bunch of transfers come in, and then bust their ass, don't transfer,

Speaker 1884.32s - 886.34s

don't try to, which is fine if you do.

Speaker 2886.46s - 889.52s

But Loafi is the guy that we should celebrate the Loafis PERSON, right?

Speaker 1889.56s - 891.9s

The guys who stick around and say, I'm going to bust my ass,

Speaker 2891.96s - 894.3s

I'm going to climb up this step chart, and I'm going to make you play me.

Speaker 1894.78s - 895.6s

I think that's pretty cool.

Speaker 2895.78s - 907.38s

So I think I'm cheering for that, dude. Justin PERSON, I told you before the show, I got to text, my wife is hungry and the boys are hungry. Anything else that you wanted to just throw out there? Anything else rattling around in your immense brain?

Speaker 1907.98s - 936.22s

I think we'll dive into this, you and I. We'll get together soon for another show. And I think we talked about doing a couple of them coming up here. But I want to do kind of a post-spring discussion on what we think, how we feel about the roster and everything like that that we'll dive into. Big player here, I know we talked about how we feel about the roster and everything like that that we'll dive into. Big player here.I know we talked about how we're a little behind some guys that are coming in for official visits. One of my favorite, Gordy Selfstead PERSON, going to be coming in.

Speaker 0936.42s - 938.82s

Ryan PERSON and I both high on him. I love his film.

Speaker 1939.7s - 954.74s

I want to see Peterzac PERSON come in too. I want to book in with those two because it's like having twins that you send out there that have very similar athletic profiles, both guys with length and some bursts. But I haven't heard anything on him yet, although we are in his top four. But it's a

Speaker 2954.74s - 960.54s

pretty robust top four for Peterzac PERSON. For those who may not always connect names with positions,

Speaker 1960.54s - 965.82s

so self-steady defense events. Six-five. A really good motor. They're almost identical.

Speaker 2966s - 986.5s

6-5-250, guys. Really, really good player. I like, I like Selfstead PERSON a lot watching the film. We're going to wrap it up there. Again, I'm Ryan Herings PERSON. Thank you guys. I was always for tuning to the show. Really do appreciate it. Justin PERSON is over there. Obviously, he comes on here. Follow him at Buckley Report. JJ. Also, we're at the Bucket Report with Regie PERSON.So, Justin PERSON, thank you, as always for jumping in, my friend.

Speaker 1986.72s - 988.2s

I'm going to go get some food.

Speaker 2989.46s - 995.68s

Later. See if this ends. Hey, Prime members.

Speaker 0995.68s - 1003.18s
