you at each time wheelhouse on x instagram and ticot they can find me at stroz 411 ORG on x and on facebook they can find me it back to the bullpen on x and instagram where i'm always positive always stroz i'm not sure what happened there er Eric PERSON. I was embodied by something else. This season is just something that I don't think any of us imagined. I know coming in, we kind of saw some injuries. And look, I was reminded of times that weren't as good when I found this ticket from 2007,return of the good guys. It was actually a game where the Astros ORG won. They beat the Royals ORG. It was actually an exhibition, though, so it didn't count for anything. I did get Brad Lidge to sign my jersey that day, my USA jersey, but 2007 was a rough season, Eric PERSON.So, yeah, this isn't the first time we've been here, but for a lot of fans that really just came on board in 2017, and some people, you have to admit, like, you hadn't been around for a while. This is the dregs of Major League Baseball ORG. And we got a lot to talk about. Could this be 100 lost season? I mean, a rerun of game one, Eric Getty PERSON getting lit up. But I think there's some breaking news on the managerial front.Eric PERSON, what do you got for us?

Speaker 0193.92s - 243.24s

Yes, I've just got a text from my source. It says that now this is from somebody with knowledge of situation. So just take it it what you will. But they haven't decided if Joe Spotted PERSON, it will be fired at any point this season. But the next manager will be probably Morris Buttermaker PERSON.The Astros ORG really felt like he did a good job with his former team, the Bears ORG. They almost beat the Yankees ORG in the final game. And they felt like he, the Bears. They got, they almost beat the Yankees in the, the final game. And they, they felt like he had the drive, the willpower, the, just the motivation to get those guys to get the job done. And unfortunately, they fell a little short, but they, the Astros feel like Morris Buttermaker PERSON is the man for a job.

Speaker 2243.84s - 296.06s

Well, look, here's a thing. Here's, here's the thing I remember about Morris Buttermaker PERSON is the man for a job. Well, look, here's a thing. Here's the thing I remember about Morris Buttermaker PERSON is he took this, this island of misfit toys kind of kids and he turned things around. I mean, this dude came to the club and he was basically, he was drinking too much. And these kids set him straight. He had kids that were rebels. You know, he had the one kid that smoked the cigarette and rode the motorcycle. And, you know, he was all about that. And then you had the little blonde kid that was always getting in fights and stuff. And then you had the girl on the team and, you know, the boys didn't mind that. And then all of a sudden, this team, the bad news bears, becomes a team that just goes out and whoops tail. And so look,if Buttermaker PERSON is able to make a difference on this team and if the unfortunate event happens to where a spot is let go, I

Speaker 0296.06s - 301.52s

cannot argue with that move. Wait, people in the comments are saying that was a movie. I thought that was a documentary.

Speaker 2302.16s - 325.28s

No, that was a documentary on one of the greatest turnarounds in baseball history, the bad news bears. No, that was a documentary on one of the greatest turnarounds in baseball history, the Bad News Bears ORG. And look, the game that they played in the Astrodome FAC, my friend was actually there when they were filming the documentary on this. So you know what?Salute to the Bad News Bears ORG. I mean, hey, why not? Look, shoot, scrap iron, Phil Garner PERSON would be good right now. I know. The Astros started 15 and 30arner would be good right now. I know.

Speaker 0325.48s - 328.76s

The Astros started 15 and 30 that season. That's right.

Speaker 2328.88s - 344.9s

They did start 15 and 30 that season. So yeah, Eric PERSON, I mean, look, what are you going to do at this point? You got to laugh at yourself, right? Because look, for the first time in my adult life, I see a Kyle Tucker solo home run in the first inning.

Speaker 0345.74s - 351.74s

And I'm not at least. I mean, I tweeted something about it, but I was like, okay. What else?

Speaker 2352.46s - 353.98s

I think I know how to end.

Speaker 0354.14s - 364.78s

And I think I even put it on X. It's like this exactly the same thing that happened. And then Justin Verlainter got lit up for what seven runs. Spencer Ergetti got lit up for five runs.

Speaker 2365.24s - 366.08s

Let them play. Let them play.

Speaker 0366.46s - 367.3s

Let them play.

Speaker 2368s - 373.22s

For those you that don't know who Morris Buttermaker was, it was the movie called Bad News Bears WORK_OF_ART.

Speaker 0373.52s - 415.76s

You haven't watched it, go watch it. It's kind of older movie, but it's a great movie. And the Astros ORG need something to light the fire under them. And a lot of people have been calling for the, for Joe Spada to make some lineup changes, notably dropping Alex Bregman PERSON down in the lineup. And you have Dana Brown going on the on Sports Talk 790 ORG saying that, oh yeah, I think it's about timethat Bregman gets dropped as well. So we'll talk about that in a second, but maybe Joe Espada was listening to Sports Talk 790 today and said, hmm, maybe since the GM ORG's on the radio talking about that, maybe I need to go ahead and drop Alex Bregman PERSON.

Speaker 2416.24s - 457.66s

Well, I gave, I gave Mr. Sean Salsbury PERSON's flowers. I said, look, if you and Brian have the power to influence the GM ORG, by all means, come up with some other ideas. And I think he appreciated the tweet. Look, I'm serious. They've got one of the best morning shows. Actually, I'm sorry. I said that on the show. And I called in. To me, they got the best morning show. They're my favorite show to listen to. But I listen to Locked on Astros first. Yes, I do re-listen to our show. I listen to our show every morning.I also catch Brian and Sean PERSON. They do a great job. But Eric PERSON, like, Kyle Tucker is leading the American League in home runs right now.I mean,

Speaker 0457.66s - 460.14s

I'm with Show Ayatani, too, for Major League of Baseball.

Speaker 2460.82s - 485.32s

Exactly. I know. And there's no headlines about him because he's not on the Dodgers ORG. And then Yordaun Alvarez goes down looking tonight. And then the next step bat, when he's swinging, he's looking at strikes and swinging at pitches off the plate. Something is not right between the ears with Yordan Alvarez PERSON. And there's some other things that popped up that we may have concerns about in the

Speaker 0485.32s - 581.22s

bullpen. Yes. So one, the next topic that we're going to definitely address, Tucker's been pretty good lately. He's one of the bright spots. I think the Astros ORG are going to end up kicking themselves for not extending him. We could talk about that later. But Bregman PERSON is batting not fourth anymore, not third, not second, definitely not leadoff. But what he's batting now is six. And what Joe Spot PERSON has said, he's trying to get him hopefully to relax a little bit and get him going. So we know what Bregman PERSON's been doing. He's beenpopping up a lot. He's been still getting a lot of walks. He still gets on base a lot. He actually, the season is doing pretty good with runners in scoring position. He's been popping up a lot. He's been still getting a lot of walks. He still gets on base a lot. He actually, the season is doing pretty good with runners in scoring position. He's actually one of the few hitters on a team that's doing pretty good. But in other situations, he's not doing that well this year. So I believe that he's doing, he's 9-432 with 11 RBIs with runners in scoring position this year. So he's one of the guys that's doing okay with the runners in scoring position,281 batting average. So, uh, but what he's not doing is he's not getting on base, uh, and with the hits. He's walking and not getting hits the other way. So I think what,um, he's saying is that we all know that Bregman PERSON is a slow starter, but this is getting a little crazy. So we have several comments from the manager and the GM. So I guess before we talk about what the manager said, let's go ahead and talk what Dana Brown said on Sports Talk 70 today.

Speaker 2581.42s - 590.22s

Real quick. This was the first time that Alex Bggman batted 6th since September 1st, 2021.

Speaker 0590.94s - 611.04s

So it's been a few years since he's done it. Chandlerone PERSON tweeted that. I'm sorry. Go ahead with the tweet. All right. So Alex Breggman PERSON, he needs to get hot. He's our veteran. This team will roll when Breggman PERSON rolls. He will get hot. Mark my word. He's an important piece and he needs to get hot. Have he seen the back of his baseball card? No, he did not say that.

Speaker 1611.28s - 620.44s

But he does team building for us in the clubhouse. That's the guy. And the contract isn't the

Speaker 0620.44s - 639.12s

issue. He's a former first round pick. He's been through a ton in the league and he's a grinder. I don't see the contract as added pressure or an issue. But maybe it's a good idea to move him down in the lineup. I like shaking up the lineup. We could possibly see that soon.

Speaker 2640.2s - 660.78s

And soon is tonight. Here's the thing when they talk about team building exercise. All I hear is like trust fall, trust fall, trust, fall, fall, fall catch.Like I think back to the youth group, you know, like let's build. Hey guys, we had different pieces of the puzzle over here. We got to solve it before the other group.Altumaz PERSON,

Speaker 0660.78s - 664.32s

it's like, I got the puzzle made. I got the puzzle made. And look.

Speaker 2665.5s - 670.5s

Hey, Brad PERSON, before we go too deep into this, we got to do a commercial break here.

Speaker 0670.5s - 672.78s

And we'll hear what Brett PERSON has to say.

Speaker 2673s - 804.3s

And then more importantly, we'll hear what the manager has to say. This episode is brought to you by DoorJash ORG. Use a promo code locked on MLB. So Brett PERSON, what were you going to say about Bregman hitting six before we hear what Joe PERSON's spot has to say.

Speaker 2848.48s - 894.32s

Oh, no, I was just saying that it's the first time since 2021. He's done it. So that clearly means that there's never been a lack of confidence in his ability to do what he is capable of doing. Look, man, he's just going through it. Baseball is the toughest sport to play. Baseball does have so many ways to bring you down. I mean, it's basically centered around negativity, Eric PERSON,and but there's a lot of people saying, well, because they lost Maldonado PERSON, because they lost this guy, because they lost that guy, they're feeling to hurt. I'm like, look, if these are million-dollar players and they're feeling to hurt because a player leaves, then they are clearly not earning their money. So tell us what Joe Spott PERSON had to say.

Speaker 0895.76s - 977.54s

Dana Brown PERSON also had to say this in an article I read. He's working his tail off. He's grinding. He's in the cages. He's watching video. He's looking at the data. He's working, but he's coming up short. And we need to get him hot soon because he can carry you for a couple weeks. And we're going to need him to do that. So this is what Joe Espada said. But Breggie PERSON is a professional and he understands what we're trying to do, what's best for the team and for himself. I would like him to just kind of control the zone when he gets his pitches to hit, be able to handle them. He's been having some better at bats and now trying to get him in a groove and get him going. So like I said, he's got the good plate discipline. He's able to draw the walks. He's able to, he sees the zone better than anybody else. He's just not able to make that connection that we've seen in the walks. He's able to, he sees the zone better than anybody else. He's just not able to make that connection that we've seen in the past. And even despite the early struggles in the season he's had before, he's not able to break out of that. So the Astros ORG are trying to do that. And they moved up Jeremy Pena in the lineup. And I applaud them for moving Jeremy Pena up in the lineup. He had a great day.I don't know if he's a cleanup hitter. He was a good cleanup hitter today. I think still, Brett, I still think he's the number two hitter. And I've been saying that he needs to go hit.

Speaker 2977.94s - 1120.54s

Well, I'd tell you right now, if you're on continues to do what he's doing, you need to drop him too. I'm sorry. right now, if Yoron PERSON continues to do what he's doing, you need to drop him too. I'm sorry. I mean, look, I'm just, I'll go with what I said last night. Someone needs to go into this clubhouse and absolutely disrupt the ethos and disrupt just the whole aura of the clubhouse. Like, make it like freaking war games.Like when they come in, I don't care. Get like elementary with it. Like when they come into the clubhouse, make it look like Mad Max beyond Thunderdome and have like this freaking hardcore, just rock music playing. And like, we're going to go out there and we're going to be warriors. And we're basically going to bash the Yankees ORG heads in. We're going to go out there and we're going to be warriors and we're basically going to bash the Yankees ORG heads in. We're going to go out there and we're going to demolish them. Like, get hyped up, get pumped up and talk about your game plan. Talk about how you're going to attack the pitch. And like, had the players say themselves, I'm not going to swing outside the zone. I'm going to, when a ball comes to strike zone, I'm going to absolutely put it in right field. I'm going to try to take one of the fans hats off their head. I mean, you've got to do something. And I know that in the end, that may have a temporary effect. But the reason why I say that is because a lot of people feel like this team has no fire. And I tell you why they don't have fire because losing sucks. And being in this position they don't have fire because losing sucks. And being in this position sucks. They're at the bottom. We are at the bottom of the league. We are in power rankings 26th. The last time I saw a 26th rank power ranked Astros team was 2014. Not even 2016. Not even 2015.2014 is the last time I saw that. And that 26 would have been a high number for that team. They are literally the only ones that can help themselves. Eric Getty is 0 and 4 with the 844 ERA. He has showed promise. And everybody's like, oh, Diaz PERSON is calling a horrible game.Well, did you give him his flowers when he caught the no-hitter for Ronelle Blanco PERSON? And no, he's not calling pitches down the middle. That's a pitcher execution problem. That's a rookie first time in New York Yankees Stadium FAC. I mean, that's what it's about.

Speaker 01120.74s - 1297.58s

I called it yesterday. So, I mean, I did think it would be an issue. And before we move on to Spencer Arrogati too much, I do want to talk about Dana. Ronlin. So Dana Brown PERSON did have some more comments about why to be optimistic or worried about the Astros ORG or something. He just said, we're not having quality of bats and we're not making pitches when they're needed. We have to have quality of bats when guys are in scoring position. Until we do that, it's going to be tough to turn it around. We have to turn a corner. We'll see how good we are.And I think we'll get on a roll, but we have to get good quality of bats and make good quality pitches. And this is what he said. I give our guys a C minus. We're not playing up to our potential right now. The Astros ORG are one of the worst teams in baseball. I understand you're trying to motivate them, but I would say, I mean,I think people across baseball are perplexed with what the Astros ORG are doing right now. They're playing way below what anybody would expect. And so I would give them, if not a F, I would give them a D minus right now. Because you have Alvarez PERSON who's not hitting like his potential. You have the back the bullpen. You're big three. And I know I see people on X saying, I'm tired of hearing the big three because a big three can't really contribute anymore. And there's just so much that's going on with the Houston Astros ORG right now. And nobody is understanding what's going on. And maybe the run of seven straight ALCSs that caught up to the Astros ORG, the lack of draftpicks, losing some of them through traits, losing them through the cheating scandal. A lot of things have come to the situation. Also, the Astros let go James Click PERSON. James Click, I thought, was doing great things for this organization. And so now he's out of the picture. And so the Astros ORG now are here. Jeremy Pena is now your cleanup hitter for the moment. But I don't know how long that's going to last. But he was one of the bright spots of today's game. So it's his first start in the cleanup spot. He had his fourth home run of the season. He had three hits. And his OPS is 831. This one of the best OPS is on this team this season. So the Astros ORG, I don't know if he's the full-time thing, but definitely something. So we're going to address Araggetti in a second, Brett PERSON. We do need to get to our next ad read. We'll talk about Eric Getty PERSON. I do want to talk some more about the trade deadline discussion we had. I had some more thoughts during day. And Christian Javier is returning. We'll talk about Eric Getty. I do want to talk some more about the trade deadline discussion we had. I had some more thoughts during day. And Christian Javier PERSON is returning. We'll talk about when he's returning in a second. This episode is brought to you by prize picks.

We're trying to get to 15,000 subscribers than to 20,000 subscribers. And we're hoping that we don't have to rely on Morrisbut Baker to be the next Astros ORG manager. But the Astros are in a spot right now where they're about to be at a spot in no return. And yes, they have some pitchers coming back. Christian Javier coming back. Then Jose or Kitty PERSON is making some steps back. But Spencer Erigetti pitched today. He had some good moments and some bad moments, but that's what to be expected, pitching his first game at Yankee Stadium FAC. And he gave up some bombs to Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, and Giancarlo Stanton PERSON.And the Givencarlo Stanton won was 119.8 or something like that off the bat. He gave up five runs on eight hits. He had three walks, four strikeouts. His ERA, like you said, is 8.44. And then Dubin came in, gave up another three runs. And then Taylor Scott PERSON came in a little bit later, gave up another run. That's nine runs. The Astros came back a little bit later to get four runs, but you can't keep on coming up from behind. That's the Astros ORG issue. Here's a deal.

Speaker 21458.56s - 1502.54s

So look, I'll give you Astros ORG fans. Hold on. I got to read this for you. This is actually interesting. Ryan Bally, I'll give you Astros ORG fans. Hold on. I got to read this for you. This is actually interesting. Ryan PERSON, Bolly,I'll give you Astros ORG fans props this many people on here after how things are going coming from Rangers ORG fan. Well, Ryan PERSON, let me tell you something about Houston GPE. Let me pay something about this town. We're not fair weather fans. We don't just show up when our team wins a title once in their team's history. We've always been here, proof by the ticket that I showed earlier. So thanks for the compliment. Everybody in here were real fans. We've always been here, proof by the ticket that I showed earlier. So thanks for the compliment. Everybody in here,we're real fans. We're not casuals. And Yankees ORG fans come in here. You get banned. We don't like you. If you're going to talk crap to us,you can get the heck out of here. Kick rocks or go touch grass or go tell your mom to heat up you or mac and cheese because we're not going to pull up. We're not going to put up with that bull crap.

Speaker 01502.54s - 1506.16s

It's okay to come in and just talk a little bit of smack,

Speaker 21506.38s - 1597.36s

but if you're going to be weird. Yeah, no, this guy was being rude, okay? This guy's being rude. He's out. He's banned. So do that again on this podcast. You're done. I'm sorry. I'm not going to put up with your BS. Because look, we are real baseball fans here. And we recognize that the Astros ORG are not a good team right now. They're actually a very terrible baseball team. And I think Erigetti is in a lose-lose situation, Eric PERSON. He would have to be Paul Skeens PERSON to actually make an effect on this roster. And I even think Paul Skeens PERSON, who just got called up by the pirates, one of the best pitching prospects in all the baseball in the last 10 years, Paul Skeens PERSON would struggle on this team.I mean, this team does not give confidence to the pitchers. And there were bright moments, but at the end of the day, he's got a massive ERA. He,I mean, his mistakes are huge over the middle of the plate. And D.S. isn't calling him over the middle. But when you got guys like Soto PERSON, Stanton, Judge, freaking Verdugo PERSON,Verdugo PERSON seems to hit against us really well, whether he's a Red Sock or a Yankee NORP. And so it, I don't know, it's just, Eric PERSON, we're going to have to take our lumps, man. We're going to have to take our lumps, you know, tip of the hat to pain you for delivering today. Keep them there. Look, keep this lineup.Keep this lineup. Write it for four or five games. Get Dubon PERSON back in there. You know, because I was told Dubon PERSON has value as a pinch runner. No, Dubon has value as an everyday at bat.

Speaker 01599.48s - 1671.46s

Yeah, you had three hits in today's game. You had Myers that a lot of people have been saying send down AAA ORG, DFA him. He had two hits in this game. You had a lot of hits at the bottom of the order. You had Pena with three hits in the cleanup spot. Then you had Altuve with the hit, Tucker PERSON with that big home run. So the hits are spread across the lineup.Singleton PERSON, who's been hot, has been kind of slow in this series. But I think that that's the problem. It doesn't matter where you put these people in the lineup. I would say that Tucker needs to be in cleanup and Pena PERSON needs to be there. I think that Diaz PERSON needs to be a little bit further up in the lineup, but I think that until Joe Spada PERSON find something that clicks where I don't think it reallymatters. The team is struggling so much. But Brett, you mentioned Juan Soto PERSON. These are not updated. I forgot how many bats this was afterwards, but Juan Soto's number against the Astros ORG so far this season,he's 13 for 22 with two home runs, six RBIs, five runs, three walks. That is a 51 batting average. So that is a 654 on base percentage.

Speaker 11671.84s - 1695.06s

That is a great baseball player against the Houston Astros ORG. That is the next Albert Pullholz PERSON. That is the next Adelaus Garcia PERSON. That is the next Jim Edmonds PERSON. That's the next whoever you want to say. This guy is going to be Astros killer for many years.I know they're not in the same division, but this guy is single-hand only killing the Astros this year. No, he is.

Speaker 21695.06s - 1778.18s

He is an absolute Astros ORG killer and just a monster. And if the Yankees don't sign Juan Soto PERSON, they are smacked out of their mind. But let me tell you, Juan Soto PERSON is going to get paid. This dude is going to me. He is earning. And if he stays healthy this year, we're probably looking at the AL ORG MVP. I think Kyle Tucker will get some MVP votes this year, but he won't touch it because of Juan Soto PERSON. And if Juan Soto PERSON continues to do what he's doing, the sky's the limit for him. And look, the Yankees ORG are actually playing better than I thought they would because I really thought pitching was going to be the issue.I thought their offense was going to be somewhat inconsistent. You know, maybe thought that the strikeout bug was going to hit Aaron Judge PERSON. But Aaron Judges hit more home runs than anybody in baseball since 2017. And so we have got to get up there. We got to get to the plate. And someone, okay, Eric PERSON, is it, is it time? Now, I'm not all for firing a manager this early in season, but at what point do the Astros ORG look at the pitching coaches or the hitting coaches? And at what point do they start taking position? Because that stuff happens. That stuff happens before the big guy goes, the smaller guys are done and AAA ORG guys are brought up, stuff like that.I mean, are we to that point? Or do we have to be here in June?

Speaker 01778.9s - 1783.38s

I think this goes back to the trade deadline conversation we had yesterday.

Speaker 21783.88s - 1790.44s

I think that a lot of people were misinterpreted the conversation we're having that the Astros ORG need trade players now.

Speaker 01790.66s - 1838.38s

That's not what we're saying. We were saying that the Astros ORG around the trade deadline, if they are still sucking as bad as they're doing, if they have the same pace where they're losing basically almost half of their games they're winning, then they're going to have to trade. And they're going to have to try to rebuild the farm system because what they have, they have stars. They have a team of players that should be winning, but for some other reason, they're not clicking. There's got to be some reason. Dusty Baker PERSON is not here. And there's a few players missing. There's some people in the bullpen. There's some other things missing from this team. But otherwise, it's mostly a complete team. So, yes, it's too early right now to fire Joe PERSON's pot. You have to evaluate the team as a whole.

Speaker 11838.78s - 1842.38s

And that goes into June, mostly into July. Right.

Speaker 21842.68s - 1845.2s

But maybe the first half part of July

Speaker 11845.2s - 1849.7s

around the All-Star break is when I remember when Jimmy Williams PERSON was fired

Speaker 21849.7s - 1882.4s

around that time. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, and look, I'm not saying I want that for this team. I actually met Joe PERSON, Joe Espada before the season started. And great guy. I love how he talks to media. Like, he talks to you. He doesn't talk at you.You know, dude, I'm real um you know dude i'm real big on communication i'm real big on when when i talk to athletes i pick up on the body language and nothing but respect for the guy i can't imagine how difficult it is the pressure but good news is haviour will be returning soon christian havier PERSON's looking good feeling good so hopefully he won't

Speaker 01882.4s - 1885.76s

won't have a fide or saturday yeah so here's a deal

Speaker 21885.76s - 1893.28s

i don't have you heard this but uh they reported that um mr presley was dealing with some discomfort

Speaker 01893.28s - 1898.64s

and back soreness yes from backsorness they weren't they weren't worried about it but he's

Speaker 21898.64s - 1918.64s

dealing with back soreness and then jp france we know is probably going to be out for a long time dude these injuries keep piling up. I mean, and so the pressure doesn't get any less. And look, I can still guarantee you guys. And look, I don't care if we end at 32 minutes or take a little. I think we take it a little bit longer tonight.I'm screw the, the anyways.

Speaker 11919.98s - 1921.74s

This is what I think, Eric PERSON.

Speaker 21922.86s - 1992.8s

I think that we have to realize that this team actually stresses less about the losses than we do as fans. Again, I'm going to, I'm going to preach this. Fan is short for a fanatic. We are fanatics. We are emotional. We love this team.We fight for this team. We want this team. We defend our team. We make memes about this team. We get into arguments with family members over our team, right? But at the end of the day, they're the guys getting paid. And they know more than anybody. I mean, if you would have told methe Astros are going to be 12 and 24 at this point in this season, I would have been like, there's no way in on this side of heaven that that's going to happen. And it absolutely has. And Yordan PERSON's got to step it up. I mean, does Yoron need to go on the IL ORG? Is he hurt? Is something wrong?Because he's not like he really hasn't been, last time he started having a slump like this, they end up going, oh, his hands hurt or this is hurt. And so I don't know. Like I don't want to be hurt, but I would almost rather them say, oh, you know, the last few weeks he's been dealing with this and didn't say anything. That would make me a little bit more helpful than he's just mentally checked out.

Speaker 01993.18s - 2066.4s

Like, because he doesn't like. It's like going to a doctor and a doctor doing a strep test, doing a flu test, doing a COVID test, doing all different tests. And then he's like, well, I don't know what it is. It's probably just a virus. So like we don't know what's going on with them. And that's the sucky thing is that this is a once in lifetime player for the Houston Astros ORG. And he's going through one of his worst slumps of his career. But we have to remember that he did go through a slump like this last year where maybe he didn'thave this hitting slump, but he struggled hitting with power for home runs. So he went so many, he went like almost a month without hitting home runs. And so then he came back and he did it. So I think that Alvarez PERSON will find his way.Bregman PERSON, he's got to find his way. I know Dana Brown PERSON claims that it's not a contract issue, but I think what you're seeing is the team is losing. And you see when you see teams, uh, guys losing who are not used to losing, they tend to press and they tend to try to do it all. Instead of hitting a two run homer with a runner on, they're trying to hit a four run homer or a grand slam and trying to hit a five run homer.

Speaker 22066.4s - 2137.58s

They're just, they're just trying to go above it. Yeah, they're there. Yeah, it's just, I mean, when you are pressing, when you get outside of yourself. And in that, and that goes back to a conversation I've talked about before where Josh Rojas said he had credited Josh Redick PERSON, of all people, to help him with this swing. And Josh PERSON is like, you're trying to pull everything. And I mean, for instance, let's take a pro, Juan Soto PERSON.You know why he's become a better hitter? Because he hits the ball to the opposite side of the field. He puts the ball all over the ballpark. He used to be a pull side hitter. He was a pull side hitter. Every time Wonsoto PERSON got a hole, the ball was going to right field. He was either getting a double or a home run. And then he realized, and he's done it a couple times against the Astros ORG. Hit it into the left field. Get on base. That's all you got to do because if you get on base, you have possibility score or run any time you get on base, unless you're the Astros ORG. You get on base and you're going to be stranded, kind of like Wilson in Castaway FAC. I mean, that's, that's what I feel like with this team. I feel like this team is, is in this perpetual cycle of castaway or groundhog day.You know, that, that famous movie with Bill Murray PERSON where he tried, like he basically,

Speaker 02137.58s - 2139.68s

he's talking to a volleyball, yes. Right.

Speaker 22140.34s - 2197.98s

Wilson's talking to volleyball, but no, Bill Murray was literally trying to relive the day. And he was trying to relive the day because he was trying to perfect it. Bill Murray was trying to perfect the day, Groundhog Day WORK_OF_ART, where he's like, okay, boom, I'm going to do something. I'm going to shock myself in the bathroom with the with the toaster, and then I'm going to wake up the next day. And I remember stepping in that puddle, so I'm not going to step in that puddle. And that's what this cycle is. And so the Astros are going to have to, like Justin Verlander PERSON said, go out there and put in the work and really grind mentally. What did I do wrong? I promise you, Justin Verlander's PERSON next start,he's going to be stellar. He's going to, he's going to either he's going to be chasing a no-hitter or he's going to throw a no-hitter in his next start. Mark my words, Justin Verlander PERSON is that kind of worker, but he needs to instill that in the other players. And I just don't know how you do that. This is an individual thing, but the problem is it's systemic and it's in the whole clubhouse and you can see it and you can feel it just by watch

Speaker 02197.98s - 2258.9s

on TV. All right. One of the most, the Astros ORG most consistent pitchers is going to be on the mound at Yankee Stadium tomorrow. First pitch is going to be 4.05. Ronell Blanco, 3 and O with a 2.09 ERA, 36 strikeouts versus Marcus Stroman PERSON. We always thought that he was going to be Astro with that name Stroman, but he's two and one with the 3.41 ERA, 35 strikeouts. So this is going to be a definitely interesting matchup. I think that we're going to see more of a well-pitched game in this game. But at the same time, I think in the past game, Blanco had his first off gamewhere he dealt with some control issues. And so you can't do that at Yankee Stadium FAC versus these guys. You see how far they can hit the ball, especially the three guys they hit home runs day. And I love that somebody said on X today, I saw that the 2024 Astros are so bad that even Aaron Judge PERSON, 2024 Aaron Judge PERSON, can hit home run in Stems. He's been struggling.

Speaker 22259.38s - 2333.22s

Well, here's that, right. No, exactly. And look, here's the thing. I got this from this guy, Qualstrows PERSON on X, and I made my own bingo card of different ways the Astros lose in 24, giving up first run, first inning runs, strand runners on second and third, strike out looking, fielding error, opposing team mid-starter, become Syung PERSON, bullpen craps the bed, pass ball, umpire strike zone, letting Maldi PERSON's leadership walk. But I digress. I mean, look, this is the kind of year it is. And I'm not saying you should start a drinking game, but maybe, look, you go to the site, you can print your own bingo cards for free, which I thought was crazy. He was trying to get me to print 20 free ones. But anyways, it is just, they're not just losing one way. They're inventing ways to lose. And you expect a team like this to, if they start slow, boom, they hit that, they hit that streak. They hit that stride and they just take off. And we thought that was happening once we got to the next series. So, Eric, had they won that second game against Seattle GPE, had they had they swept Seattle or had they won two out of three in Seattle GPE, do you think that would have changed the outcome in New York GPE or do you think they still would have done this?

Speaker 02334.54s - 2432.36s

I think that the Astros ORG just maybe find a way to lose. And I don't know if one series would affect the other one, but I don't know. But I do know that the Rangers are playing better baseball right now. The Mariners, their pitching has been a little bit off this year, but it's heating up right now. So the Astros ORG, I know the, a lot, somebody said that the AOS ORG is not a good division. It's actually becoming a pretty good division right now. You're going tohave the two top teams. They're going to start to run away with this division, I think, pretty soon. I don't know if the Rangers are going to be able to outlast the Mariners. So the Astros ORG have got to turn things around. But Dana Brown PERSON had some more thoughts. And this time it's about Jose Abrae PERSON.And he said that Jose Brayu PERSON is doing good. And about, is doing good. And he's, uh, hoping that he's about to see some live pitching in the days ahead. And don't worry, Michael Brantley paid a visit to Jose Brayu and helped him out a little bit. And apparently, this is what Dana Brown PERSON had to say. I think he's gotten a little too strong and it's slowing his bat down. This is opposed to, what, eight days ago, well, this was, yeah, eight days ago when he said, I still feel optimistic about it. If the bat speed was slower, I'd be a little bit moreoptimistic. So in other words, he's having conflicting opinions on Jose Abraeu PERSON, what's going on. It's either his bats too fast or too slow. So Dana Brown PERSON can't even decide what's going on.

Speaker 22432.82s - 2455.38s

So, so, hey, let's sit on this. We got, we got 208 people watching. Number one, I want to say thank you from the bottom of heart. I absolutely love, we love doing this podcast. I actually have friends that ask me right now, how can you do this? How can you talk about this team? And I'm like, because there's no better team in baseball. There's no other team that I want to don theAAA. Okay, Dana Brown PERSON.

Speaker 02455.62s - 2461.28s

Form of than the Houston Astros ORG. Yeah, call me a homer. I don't give a crap because I am me

Speaker 22461.28s - 2571.6s

and you don't get to tell me what to do. But here's the deal, Eric PERSON. Michael Brantley, that's an interesting discussion. And when I talk about firing a hitting coach, I say that because, look, I have no idea what Alex Entron PERSON does. I have nothing against Alex Entron PERSON. I don't even know that I don't know how to grade a good hitting coach and a bad hitting coach. But if they do start firing people, it's usually the position guys. Then you've got a guy in Michael Brantley that I think you could talk into being there. And you could, or you add him to the staff. Okay.Maybe you don't fire Centron PERSON, but maybe you also bring him in as an advisor to the hitting coach. And then slowly work him in and then give like, okay, hey, Mike, I need you to take these three guys in the cage and talk with him.Like, I need you to look at the film on Yordon PERSON and I need you to work with him on that. I need you to work with Payne PERSON. I need you to work with Dubon PERSON. I mean, I mean, they've got to find something, Eric PERSON, maybe one of these AAA ORG guys gets a promotion to, maybe they add to their pitching coach, coaches staff in the bullpen. I don't know. I don't know if they can even do that. I don't know what the rules are on how many coaches you can have on staff. But at the end of theday, there's going to have to be something that sets them up differently, that sets them in a different mindset because if they keep doing the same thing over and over, I don't think they're going to get different results. And look, you talked about the Rangers, they're seven and three in their last 10 games. The Mariners are five and five. The Rangers are 22 and 17.The other day, they were one game under 500. Seattle was one game over 500. They're 20 and 17. Oakland is two game, three games under 500 to 18 and 21. Oakland actually beat the Yankees in one of the games. If we can't at least beat the Yankees in one game.Yeah.

Speaker 02571.8s - 2573.48s

We get swept by the Yankees ORG.

Speaker 22574.3s - 2622.08s

I mean, what are we doing here? You know? I mean, at some point, you got to change things, Dana PERSON. It's not all roses. Like, I get it. I'm the ultimate positive guy, but at somepoint, you got to go to that hitting coach, say, look, and if these dudes keep throwing blanks out there, if Yoron keep striking out, if freaking Bregman PERSON can't get his head out of his button, you can't fix his swing, I'm going to find somebody who will. The bottom line is, and Joe Espada PERSON, I need to see you motivating this team. I need to, like, quit being so nice. Quit being so nice. These are big boys. These are grown men. Talk to him like you're a grown man. Say it with your chest. I don't know, maybe he is having those conversations. I have no pulse of this club.I just know what is presented to me.

Speaker 02624.22s - 2624.56s

And all I can know, go ahead, go ahead.

Speaker 22628.88s - 2629.42s

I know that the Astros ORG with the hitting coaches, I think they're going to say, well,

Speaker 02632.94s - 2636.9s

the Astros are in top three, batting average on base percentage. Okay. That's, okay. Okay, that's great.

Speaker 22638.6s - 2699.02s

So what happens when you get guys on base? Why is your approach? Okay. So why do you have a good approach or great approach getting on base? But when somebody gets on base, why do you go into brain fog mode and why do you forget how to hit? That is an attack. That is a game plan. That is a scheme. That is an approach. That is a mindset. Hell, bring in some mental coach. Bring in some dude. They've done that before.Freaking, I don't care. Hypotize this damn team. Hypotize them. Do something. I mean, I don't even like, what is that? What is that big tall dude's name? Tony Robbins PERSON? Like, I don't even like Tony Robbins. He's like a humanist and he's all kind of weird, but bring in Tony Robbins. I mean, do something. Find someone on Instagram that's inspiring. Do something. Oh, by the way, by the way, a little side note, a little rabbit chase here.Mike Trout has actually said the words that he finds it almost impossible to see the ball in Minutemate Park FAC. Think about that one. Yes.

Speaker 02699.32s - 2705.32s

And the Astros are actually hitting better at home this year than they are in that crazy.

Speaker 22705.56s - 2759.34s

Isn't that crazy? Yeah, I have the stats right here, but I don't know if we want to go over it. I took a snippet from what was on the screen today. But the Astros hitting at home are batting 271 with a 792 OPS scoring 4.8 runs. And on the road, they're batting 237 with a 651 OPS and scoring 3.9 runs per game. So it's a big drop-off.And this is something that's totally opposite of what the Astros did last year. They were a road warrior, and this year they're not. And that's another reason why the Astros ORG are where they are. And this year, they're not. And that's another reason why the Astros ORG are where they are. And I know that Shoea Tani's PERSON former interpreter, IP, sorry, what is it, IPE, he will, I know, it's been a while since we talked about.

Speaker 12760.4s - 2760.62s

We called him IP.

Speaker 22761.1s - 2761.76s

It's IP. I know, I know. It's been a while since we talked about it. Oh, man. I P, it's I pay.

Speaker 12762.36s - 2762.52s

I know, I know.

Speaker 02763.94s - 2764.12s

It's been a while since we talk about.

Speaker 22768.84s - 2769.44s

But I pay will plead guilty to one count of bank fraud.

Speaker 02773.52s - 2773.62s

And we'll go ahead and plead guilty to that.

Speaker 22778.72s - 2785.86s

He stole $17 million from Joey Akani's PERSON account. So and there's a. O'Connie like Khan. You get it? O'Connie PERSON. Oh, my bad. All right.

Speaker 02785.98s - 2794.8s

And then apparently Kershaw has a book out that's called Playoff Kershaw WORK_OF_ART or something. Hold on, hold on.

Speaker 22794.84s - 2819.44s

It's called Playoff Kershaw WORK_OF_ART. Or I don't know if somebody wrote a book or if there's a story about it or something. Hold on. Yes. The author wrote about it. And he said that of all the playoff seasons that he's the most disappointed, and it's the 2017 season, this is what he has to say. In 2017, we all know what happened at the Astros ORG. And that's the one that causes him the most frustration.

Speaker 02820.56s - 2821.46s

Oh, God.

Speaker 22822.72s - 2868.62s

So Eric PERSON, hold on, Eric. Yeah, it's called Clayton Kershaw PERSON, the inspirational story of baseball superstar Clayton Kershaw PERSON. Now, I will say this before, before I kind of bag on this guy, okay? He is a believer. He does have faith. He's, I think he's, I think he's a great human being. He does a lot of good things. He's terrible in playoffs. And this Dodgers team, look team look hey how about try not how about try getting to the world series when you win 116 games right how about talk about your 2022 like why do y'all never talk about your title in 2020 maybe because it's a mickey mouse title go get a real title and then we can talk, Mookiei PERSON, I cheat vets. All right, see you later.

Speaker 02869.92s - 2895.46s
