Speaker 10s - 16.04s

Happy Thursday and welcome here to another edition of HUSCAR Online Headlines ORG, Sean Callahan, joined by the always very orange Steve Sipple PERSON as, um,

Speaker 016.14s - 18.48s

rocking a new polo shirt there.

Speaker 118.48s - 19.8s

Yeah, $12 at Target ORG.

Speaker 019.86s - 45.04s

I had, I told you yesterday, I was going to get a belt. Um, so I whipped into Target ORG. Um, I knew right where the belts were because I bought one a couple years ago. Oh, I went to get a belt 32 to 36 waist right there. And right by the belts was a rack of, what do you call these polos for 12 apiece? Couldn't resist.Saw the peach one and said,

Speaker 145.2s - 49.9s

that's mine. It's real good color on you. I think you're going to get a lot of

Speaker 049.9s - 53.58s

comments or compliments in the comments on that polo shirt, Steve PERSON. That's not bad. I could

Speaker 153.58s - 58.02s

have told you it's a $50 polo and you wouldn't have batted an eye. I thought you bought a

Speaker 058.02s - 62.7s

Tommy Bahama one there at first. No, I don't even know what it is. Let's talk ball if we like to say.

Speaker 163.04s - 67.7s

Yeah, let's not talk about as we get down the headlines, I got a pretty good headline number one here.

Speaker 067.9s - 68.12s

Okay.

Speaker 169.04s - 99.12s

Colorado, Nebraska ORG kickoff. Are we looking at a primetime NBC kickoff and Lincoln GPE? The early clues I'm getting are say yes. Okay. So the networks got together Wednesday to begin the selection draft. And over the coming weeks, we'll know Nebraska ORG's kickoff times.Well, we know Colorado, Nebraska, like last year, will not be a big noon kickoff because the Texas-Michigan game has already been selected for week two for big noon kickoff.

Speaker 099.56s - 105.18s

And logically, Dionne Sanders has a lot of values still for ratings, especially in September.

Speaker 1105.34s - 106.02s

So does Nebraska ORG.

Speaker 0106.22s - 106.76s

And Nebraska ORG.

Speaker 1106.88s - 110.2s

But September Dion Sanders PERSON brings ratings. We saw that last year.

Speaker 0110.5s - 111.16s

It's a no brain.

Speaker 1111.16s - 114.18s

And so, anyway, it's a no brain.

Speaker 0114.2s - 118.06s

The early pieces have been starting to move for this game to be prime time.

Speaker 1118.06s - 141.4s

And I got a couple of things throwing my way here before the show started, that NBC ORG's already kind of, you know, making some calls, getting some things figured out, uh, to possibly have that game as the prime time game. So if that does hold true, wow, we're talking about a magical stage in night similar to 2014 Nebraska, Miami ORG. Yeah, we always say that one. That was, that one's for

Speaker 0141.4s - 145.84s

sure. Is there any other that come to mind magical well the first big 10

Speaker 1145.84s - 153.6s

game in lincoln was ohio state nebraska 2011 rex burkehead PERSON in the rain um the comeback the levante

Speaker 0153.6s - 159.94s

david a lot of people left that game remember yeah yeah so it was different than yeah it's hard to top

Speaker 1159.94s - 166.68s

miami nebraska in 2014 when ameer went for a big game and they had Randy Gregory and

Speaker 0166.68s - 172.02s

Collins made big plays. I think it was at the end of the third quarter. Miami ORG was threatening.

Speaker 1173.7s - 179.14s

Listen, don't hold me to all of this, but Miami ORG was threatening. Key moment in the game.

Speaker 0179.14s - 189.48s

And if you remember, Collins and Randy Gregory came up big on like three straight plays or two straight plays and it turned the tide of the game and it was wild.

Speaker 1189.54s - 192.84s

And that left tackle for Miami was a first rounder, if I'm not mistaken.

Speaker 0193.14s - 196.14s

And Gregory PERSON and him were squaring off. Okay. Okay.

Speaker 1196.44s - 206.2s

And they started going at it. I mean, it was wild. And hey, Colorado, Nebraska ORG fans want blood. I mean, they've gone to Boulder GPE. They do. And they've been treated like trash. They want blood. I mean, they've gone to Boulder GPE. They do. And they've been treated like trash.

Speaker 0206.36s - 207.04s

They want blood.

Speaker 1207.08s - 210.5s

Like the way that Colorado GPE students, particularly. Yeah.

Speaker 0210.78s - 213.56s

And young, have treated Nebraska fans in Boulder GPE.

Speaker 1214.68s - 218.58s

This is not going to be a cheer the opponent kind of stage.

Speaker 0218.7s - 222.84s

No. And look, if Colorado GPE fans want to come at us on this, go ahead, come at us.

Speaker 1222.92s - 223.98s

I mean, they've embarrassed themselves.

Speaker 0223.98s - 225.28s

Yeah, you embarrass yourselves. I mean, you got to, you got to just at us. I mean, they've embarrassed themselves. Yeah, you embarrass yourselves.

Speaker 1225.42s - 228.56s

I mean, you got to, you got to just eat this. I mean, I've watched it.

Speaker 0229.04s - 231.12s

I watched an assault happen.

Speaker 1231.42s - 233.08s

I've never seen people,

Speaker 0233.52s - 237.66s

street people like the way Colorado GPE students and. No, come at us. Come at us.

Speaker 1237.76s - 240.8s

Have been towards Nebraska the last couple of years.

Speaker 0240.96s - 259.74s

It's bizarre. It's bizarre to me. Yeah, we don't talk about fans like this, only in extreme circumstances. And Colorado GPE has made this an extreme circumstance. Now, Colorado fans are going to come back and say, oh, yeah, what happened on the field last year, big boy? Um, Colorado got them. No, they did. They've got them three times in a row. Wonderful.

Speaker 1260.68s - 276.98s

Um, so, but no, you're right, Sean, it'll be bloodlust. It'll feel like Miami in 2014 and probably with more bloodlust than that because of, because of Dion PERSON, because the, the rivalry is heated still.

Speaker 0277.16s - 278.58s

It's really intense.

Speaker 1279.86s - 291.46s

So I just hope that all this holds true that these things that are happening with NBC ORG, you know, making, you know, calls and connections here in Lincoln GPE to get things ready to go means it's happening.

Speaker 0291.46s - 296.18s

Because, you know, I'm just, I love moments like this. This will be one we'll never forget.

Speaker 1296.86s - 305.9s

Now you hope, though, that Colorado beats North Dakota State in week one. That, and that's not a given. No, it's in Boulder GPE. That's a really tough game. Now,

Speaker 0305.9s - 309.98s

North Dakota GPE State has a new head coach. I know. And North Dakota States, I don't think North

Speaker 1309.98s - 313.76s

Dakota State, it's not what it was. I mean, their head coach left to be the linebackers coach

Speaker 0313.76s - 326.24s

of USC. Yeah, right. Interesting. North Dakota State ORG's not what it was when it was at the height, like Craig Bulle years, Craig Bulleers PERSON. So, so, but still, yeah, I'm, I'm with you on that. You want, you do want

Speaker 1326.24s - 336.72s

Colorado to win that game. North Dakota State's going to come in, though, to Boulder GPE, like a more organized army. Like, they may not have as nice a tanks and guns, but they're going to know how to

Speaker 0336.72s - 341.78s

fight better. And they're, and they're going to be ready to go. And in Colorado GPE, it's going to be flashy

Speaker 1341.78s - 345.02s

with their Louis Vuitton luggagees and their Rolex ORG watches.

Speaker 0345.62s - 370.04s

And they're going to be doing weird stuff on the field probably that is probably sort of trumped up. I mean, just weird stuff like they did against Nebraska where they sort of invented this, what, this square off at midfield, which was just,it wasn't real. That's what they do. But you know what they do. But you know what? They also got two first rounders. They got Schaudeau Sanders and Travis Hunter PERSON.

Speaker 1370.34s - 374.88s

Maybe the two best players in the Big 12 ORG right now in terms of draft stacks.

Speaker 0375.22s - 375.24s

Yeah.

Speaker 1376.24s - 377.74s

So they got that.

Speaker 0378.24s - 386.54s

And they'll have some skill players. You know that. But I don't know. The way Dion PERSON's doing it, how can you even tell what kind of team that's going to be? There's so much turnover.

Speaker 1387.42s - 391.64s

Yeah, it's going to be fascinating. And we'll know these kickoff times.

Speaker 0391.98s - 394.78s

When last year they came out on June 1.

Speaker 1395.02s - 404.42s

So sometime here in late May, maybe June 1, these dates will get announced. And what we'll find out are usually the first three weeks. Yeah.

Speaker 0404.8s - 406.34s

Then your homecoming game

Speaker 1406.34s - 413.52s

and any like Friday games so so we'll find out well yeah we'll we'll we'll know like the homecoming

Speaker 0413.52s - 417.56s

kickoff and I don't know what I don't know what I don't know what game homecoming is this year for

Speaker 1417.56s - 422.2s

Nebraska ORG oh who knows that I don't know that well usually you kind of put a homecoming game like a

Speaker 0422.2s - 426.96s

strategically like not a higher profile game because then you can select your kickoff time.

Speaker 1427.02s - 427.26s

Okay.

Speaker 0427.46s - 431.62s

And so a lot of times a game that would be slammed as an 11 a.m. kick, you make that your

Speaker 1431.62s - 433.42s

homecoming game and then you put it at 2.30.

Speaker 0433.58s - 456.78s

Final word on this Colorado, Nebraska ORG and prime time, which we think is going to happen based on the information you've gotten today. It's a no-brainer. Because this is great, great drama. It is a grand stage at Memorial Stadium FAC. It is, it is everything you want. It could be a little dicey, you know, it's great TV is what I'm getting at.

Speaker 1456.92s - 459.1s

It's wonderful TV. If you're NBC ORG, you want.

Speaker 0459.22s - 462.34s

I mean, you jump on it and why and why if this game's at 2.30, you're,

Speaker 1462.34s - 464.14s

it's on CBS at 2.30.

Speaker 0464.22s - 472.8s

Yeah, in college football people are saying, why is Colorado, Nebraska ORG? Why is that not a night game? There's people saying that. Like, why is that not a night game? This is a night game, Sean PERSON.

Speaker 1473.36s - 479.02s

Oh, I can already feel the juice if it's a night game. I can't.

Speaker 0479.02s - 484.8s

I can already see 3,000 viewers watching our post game live show if they win that game.

Speaker 1484.9s - 485.76s

Yeah, more if they lose.

Speaker 0485.9s - 486.52s

Or if they lose.

Speaker 1486.66s - 486.86s

Yeah.

Speaker 0487.16s - 488.26s

We've seen it both ways.

Speaker 1489.4s - 493.88s

But I'm expecting a night of margaritas and super chats galore for Steve Simple PERSON.

Speaker 0494.38s - 495.52s

But all right.

Speaker 1495.52s - 577.86s

Speaker 1594.98s - 598.18s

It was so long ago, it was at Java Chamberlains ORG.

Speaker 0598.68s - 603.18s

He had his dream 62 auction when he played for the Yankees ORG.

Speaker 1603.24s - 603.54s

Okay.

Speaker 0603.72s - 606.26s

And it was at his dream 62 auction event.

Speaker 1606.42s - 606.74s

Okay.

Speaker 0606.82s - 608.84s

And I've had it in my garage and I need to use this puppy.

Speaker 1608.96s - 609.82s

Yeah, you need to use it.

Speaker 0610.18s - 612.8s

Just use it. Take your wife and take your wife and the girls.

Speaker 1612.8s - 624.14s

Yeah, we're going to go to the game and some friends and obviously the ALS fundraiser. And you had Ashley Johnston and Chuck Johnson PERSON on your show at the ticket. Yeah, but they're throwing out the first pitch on Friday.

Speaker 0624.28s - 631.52s

Ashley's throwing out the first pitch. It's a hard. It's a, it's a real, I mean, it's a hard story, actually. Her husband got a.

Speaker 1631.52s - 632.88s

I used to work for Nebraska ORG football.

Speaker 0632.88s - 633.92s

Yeah. A and M.

Speaker 1634.16s - 635.12s

And they'll be.

Speaker 0635.12s - 638.28s

For Bo and Bill PERSON, I think.

Speaker 1638.6s - 642.96s

Calhant. Yeah. So I urge you, if you want to support good people and a good cause,

Speaker 0642.96s - 652.72s

go to the baseball game Friday to support ALS and the Johnson family will be throwing out the first pitch. So, all right, let's take it to headline number two.

Speaker 1653.44s - 657.96s

We got to know some key staff members on Matt Ruhl staff here today.

Speaker 0658.48s - 681.6s

Dr. Susan Elza, the chief of staff and Sean Patton, the general manager, kind of the two leaders of the staff behind the scenes. We learned a lot of interesting things. First and foremost, I do want to say this, they are now almost fully in this new facility as far as coaches offices, the walk-through room we've heard so much about where it literally has one of the largest

Speaker 1681.6s - 698.58s

screens you're ever going to see where they can do simulated, you know, lineups and play looks. And there's nothing like it in the country. It's 315,000 square feet, I believe is what she said. Thanks, that's what she said. The new facility and the old space is about 200,000 square feet.

Speaker 0698.98s - 700.6s

So yes. Yes.

Speaker 1700.8s - 701.98s

That's the walkthrough right there.

Speaker 0702.1s - 726.16s

They couldn't, all the players couldn't lift at once in the previous facility. That's one thing that Dr. Elza PERSON noted. They can now. So all 149 players. So 149 on the roster, by the way. All 149 can lift in this new facility. The old weight room, you asked about this. The old weight room will call it in North Stadium FAC. That's now transitioned over to Olympic sports. weight room you asked about this the old weight room will call it in north stadium um

Speaker 1732.08s - 737.36s

that's now transitioned over to olympic sports because they used to have a weight room or they still have one that's in the hawks kind of buried in the back of the hawks indoor facility and that was where

Speaker 0737.36s - 741.36s

the olympic NORP sports went so it sounds like they're going to be transitioning those athletes now to

Speaker 1741.36s - 746.36s

the old football weight room see there yes yes, the other things she know,

Speaker 0746.48s - 834.56s

one of the other things she knows that the coaches' offices overlooked the practice field. What Sean Padden PERSON said, he had a good quote. I'm going to have to find it in my notes. Oh, yes. You know, it's, we always talk about this facility as a recruiting advantage. It may or may not be. But there's no doubt about this, according to Sean Padden PERSON. This is this quote, it's emblematic of the effort that we pour into players. That's what it's about. And largely what Sean Padden and Dr. Susan Elza PERSON wanted to impart on us is how much they, this, this program pours into its players. And you know what? That's what the training facility largely represents. Shifting gears a little bit, Sean PERSON, I know this is true. That people, I know this is true because I'm like most people in that I hear Sean Padden PERSON, his title's GM. And my thought is always, okay, what does a GM do? What does a college football GM do? Well, Sean PERSON did a good job of explaining what he does. So what he said is he's responsible for all of the recruiting apparatus. All of the recruiting apparatus, he said, runs's responsible for all of the recruiting apparatus. All of the recruiting apparatus, he said, runs up to me. Okay. That's your world, Sean PERSON. You know Sean Patton PERSON because of that.

Speaker 1834.56s - 838.02s

And he's the liaison to the collective as well.

Speaker 0838.22s - 885.54s

He's the main liaison to 1890. That's, okay, those are two very significant roles, right? He's dealing with player contracts. I mean, he's direct, he, Sean Padden PERSON right there directly deals with that. Probably deals with Davis and Matt nearly every day, right? I would think so.He also helps with the scout teams. Now, that's pretty big. And he ran that spring league, which I never quite understand what all that means, but, um, he runs the spring league, which was the way they practice essentially. Nebraska putting its players on four different fields and all that, all that rig and my role.

Speaker 1886.76s - 887.54s

That's what Sean PERSON,

Speaker 0887.6s - 897.46s

those are Sean Pad's PERSON main jobs. As you also wonder, Dr. Susan Elzo PERSON, chief of staff, what's a chief of staff? What is that?

Speaker 1897.56s - 897.7s

Well,

Speaker 0897.7s - 899.84s

she runs all the other elements,

Speaker 1899.84s - 904.12s

the, you know, the behind the scenes day-to-day operations. Yes.

Speaker 0904.28s - 905.28s

Around the program.

Speaker 1905.44s - 905.78s

Right.

Speaker 0905.94s - 932.66s

I don't know. I mean, I wanted to ask her, but it was sort of a two nuts and bolsey. There's 73 staff members for football, 73, all told. I think she would be the chief of staff for 73 people, not just the chief of staff for Matt Ruhin his 10 assistants, or how many coaching football coaching assistants there are. We're talking about a staff of nutrition

Speaker 1932.66s - 940.04s

people, weight room. You report to her first. Yeah. Then she goes to Matt Ruhl PERSON. So she,

Speaker 0940.04s - 945.74s

she says she, she helps with recruiting also. She works with the top level administration.

Speaker 1946.54s - 948.98s

She helps in the organization of road trips.

Speaker 0949.38s - 991.04s

She talks to the governor, if need be. And I thought the key thing she does that she said she does is she helps avoid silos. All these different people and all these different parts of the football program, she doesn't want them operating in a silo without collaboration, without other parts of the program understanding what they're doing. And I think that part, that might be the most important things she said about her job. So that's, so yeah, we got to know them.Interesting move. Sean PERSON, I don't think this has ever been done since we've been covering the team, has it?

Speaker 1991.04s - 1004.28s

Well, they've done like round table-ish type of things where, you know, you might get to sit down in like a meeting room with like the recruiting staffers and whatnot.

Speaker 01005.16s - 1006.16s

I must have missed those.

Speaker 11006.16s - 1010.2s

You know, like for Scott Frost, Jared Lamprick PERSON was the chief of staff.

Speaker 01010.62s - 1014.16s

And that wasn't his style. He didn't want to, he didn't want to do interviews.

Speaker 11014.16s - 1016.26s

Like in kind of he wanted to be more in the back.

Speaker 01016.26s - 1019.94s

Like he didn't really ever present himself on camera like this.

Speaker 11020.1s - 1020.34s

No.

Speaker 01020.5s - 1023.4s

And this was on this was a podium setting today that we got.

Speaker 11023.5s - 1023.82s

Yeah.

Speaker 01023.94s - 1027.9s

Um, so pretty formalized. I mean, both both guys talk for 30 minutes.

Speaker 11027.9s - 1046.8s

By way of our, our expertise, our expertise, I say that in quote, wouldn't you say, okay, that's interesting that you brought up Jared Lambrick PERSON as a chief of staff. He was a chief of staff. Dr. Els is chief of staff. My perception is Jared Lambrick had much more to do

Speaker 01046.8s - 1052.92s

with the pure day-to-day football operation. Yeah, because that wasn't really, like Matt Rule PERSON,

Speaker 11052.92s - 1057.36s

when you compare his style, Matt Rule PERSON has his hands on everything. Matt Rule has his hands on

Speaker 01057.36s - 1063.04s

everything. Frost PERSON did not. Frost didn't want his hands on much other than just coaching ball.

Speaker 11063.46s - 1067.5s

Right. And, you know, but like he let, I mean, Jared PERSON was the head coach and a lot of

Speaker 01067.5s - 1068.82s

respects behind the scenes.

Speaker 11068.82s - 1070.32s

This is almost a column.

Speaker 01070.32s - 1072.28s

I mean, it's a damn near a column.

Speaker 11072.28s - 1077.46s

It's way different. This chief of staff is, it's a much different role than Jared PERSON was.

Speaker 01077.46s - 1082.48s

I mean, Jared PERSON was in charge of the COVID protocols for, I mean, everything.

Speaker 11082.48s - 1083.58s

He ran the protocol.

Speaker 01083.58s - 1085.7s

He ran the team basically at that point. Like he, tell me I'm wrong. He's, I mean, everything. He ran the protocol. He ran the team basically at that point.

Speaker 11086.36s - 1087.44s

Like he, tell me I'm wrong.

Speaker 01087.44s - 1092.38s

He's, I mean, he organized the medical contracts back then, you know, over the

Speaker 11092.38s - 1094.58s

athletic director about COVID tests and.

Speaker 01094.82s - 1095.22s

Yes.

Speaker 11095.3s - 1096.54s

Traveling nurses and.

Speaker 01097.24s - 1105.86s

Jared knew the four deep as well as any coach on the staff and probably had input on it, would you say?

Speaker 11105.96s - 1106.24s

Yes.

Speaker 01106.8s - 1110.22s

So, I mean, there's just different ways to run the organization.

Speaker 11110.58s - 1111.76s

And I think a lot of it is rule.

Speaker 01111.84s - 1115.34s

I mean, rule is he's got his hands on everything.

Speaker 11115.44s - 1116.72s

That's the best way to put it.

Speaker 01117.26s - 1123.16s

The chief of staff role by nature would be different depending on a head coach.

Speaker 11123.16s - 1125.52s

And rule is extremely hands-on.

Speaker 01126.26s - 1127.36s

So there you go.

Speaker 11127.54s - 1127.9s

All right.

Speaker 01128.06s - 1128.84s

Interesting, Sean PERSON.

Speaker 11128.92s - 1203.02s

Speaker 01203.1s - 1203.58s

What is that?

Speaker 11203.84s - 1267.42s

Nebraska is targeting Michigan State Safety, Jaden Mangum PERSON. And, you know, they've been really selective in what they've done in the spring portal. Because number one, they don't have a lot of spots. And number two, I don't know if there are a lot of glaring needs. It's to the point where if a guy is good enough to make your team better, you make room for him. And I think Mangum fits that description when you look at him as a player, Nebraska ORG's staffconducted an in-home visit with him this week. Jane PERSON. And he will visit Ohio State this weekend. Nebraska's official visit will take place Monday. And then Michigan, he's from Detroit GPE. Well, they'll have their visit the following week as far as a official visit goes.So he's got three big 10 official visits. He had four interceptions a year ago, highly productive. He had a brother on the team as well in East Lansing that followed Mel Tucker from Colorado to Michigan State ORG. That brother has left the program. He'll play running back at Minnesota ORG. Jaden PERSON.Jaden Mangum PERSON. Jaron is his brother. Good God, Steve. Yes, Mangum. Jaron is his brother. Good God, Steve PERSON.

Speaker 01267.72s - 1268.68s

Um, yes, Jaron.

Speaker 11268.68s - 1269.68s

Jaron is the running back.

Speaker 01269.78s - 1270.78s

Jaden PERSON is the safety.

Speaker 11271.14s - 1274.32s

It's right in front of you on the screen right now if you need a little help.

Speaker 01275.32s - 1275.74s

Okay.

Speaker 11275.9s - 1276.38s

Keep going.

Speaker 01276.86s - 1277.94s

But this,

Speaker 11277.94s - 1278.3s

um,

Speaker 01278.3s - 1280.78s

six one and a half safety and he's heavier.

Speaker 11281.02s - 1283.94s

I think he's closer to probably 185 right now.

Speaker 01283.98s - 1285.52s

He's a really rangey.

Speaker 11285.52s - 1293.76s

That was his high school weight. Yeah. Yeah. No, he's he's got to be 185. There's no way he's playing in the Big Ten at 165.

Speaker 01294.22s - 1301.58s

You wrote in your 321, and I think this is pretty obvious. This will be a business decision.

Speaker 11302.38s - 1305.54s

An NIL, 1890s, gigantic in this.

Speaker 01306.14s - 1339.72s

Probably playing time is something you'd watch too. But here's the thing. I don't know what Nebraska ORG can, they can't guarantee him anything in terms of playing time because as everybody knows that follows Nebraska ORG football, Nebraska ORG's well-stocked at safety.I mean, if you just look at the top three guys, Gifford PERSON, Isaac Gifford, Marquis Buford, Deshawn Singleton PERSON. I mean, it's going to be hard to determine who's starting out of those three, except I think Isaac Gifford PERSON's locked in. But I don't know with Gifford PERSON and single.

Speaker 11339.72s - 1340.3s

And Tommy Hill PERSON.

Speaker 01341s - 1342.4s

Tommy Hill PERSON's a, yeah, at corner.

Speaker 11342.56s - 1350.2s

Quarter. Oh, we're talking about the three safeties. I'm talking pure safeties. Yeah, Beaufort, Singleton coming back, heart Yeah, corner. Quarter. Oh, talking about the three safeties. I'm talking pure safeties. Yeah, Beaufort, Singleton PERSON coming back, Hartstock PERSON can play safety in corner.

Speaker 01350.2s - 1351s

So, too, yeah.

Speaker 11351.92s - 1352.92s

But see,

Speaker 01352.92s - 1353.74s

if you get Bangham PERSON,

Speaker 11353.9s - 1358.32s

I think Hartsock PERSON moving to corners and no brain. If you get Mangum PERSON in here,

Speaker 01358.42s - 1362.6s

why? Could Mangum PERSON play corner? You just have good safety stumbling all over each other.

Speaker 11362.78s - 1363.92s

Could he play any corner?

Speaker 01364.2s - 1365.08s

Mangum PERSON, maybe, yeah.

Speaker 11365.16s - 1366.54s

I don't know that. I don't know.

Speaker 01366.72s - 1368.2s

I don't know either. That's a good question.

Speaker 11368.26s - 1377.06s

That's a really good question. But he's, I mean, I'll tell you this. Five teams called him in the first day. Nebraska, Michigan, Ohio, State, Georgia, and Alabama GPE.

Speaker 01377.26s - 1379s

That's how good he is.

Speaker 11379.06s - 1379.16s

Right.

Speaker 01379.22s - 1394.42s

It's purely an example of what rule has said or what any coach, I'm not just, almost any coach would tell you. If there's a good player available and he's interested, you don't, you don't say, oh, yeah, we got enough safeties, we're good. No, if he's that good, 52 tackles, four interceptions,

Speaker 11395.08s - 1409.06s

you look at it. We're like, to get him. Okay, play this game here. If Hartzog PERSON, Singleton, or Buford, went in the portal, would Alabama Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan and Georgia call in the first day? Okay.

Speaker 01409.12s - 1409.78s

Now, wait a second.

Speaker 11409.94s - 1411.28s

Name the three again, Singleton PERSON.

Speaker 01411.64s - 1415.62s

Singleton, Hard Sog and Buford PERSON.

Speaker 11415.78s - 1418.7s

If they went on the portal, would those teams call him on the first day?

Speaker 01419.08s - 1424.9s

Um, I think you're asking me a loaded question and I'm not, I'm, I'm, I don't, a couple of

Speaker 11424.9s - 1426.06s

those guys, I'd say may, no, they're good power five players question and I'm not I'm I'm I don't a couple of those guys I'm I'd say

Speaker 01426.06s - 1432.32s

no they're good power five players am I crazy on this simple yes you are I don't I don't think

Speaker 11432.32s - 1439.56s

Kirby smart and Alabama and Michigan and Ohio State ORG would be calling on those guys I'm not

Speaker 01439.56s - 1445.68s

on the first day on the first day come on baby it. I'm not convinced you're right on that.

Speaker 11446.04s - 1446.96s

Those guys are good.

Speaker 01447.16s - 1449.34s

Yeah, but they don't have the production he had.

Speaker 11449.82s - 1451.72s

He's got legit proven production.

Speaker 01451.92s - 1453.42s

He had four interceptions last year.

Speaker 11453.42s - 1455.88s

He was second team all big 10 by some publications.

Speaker 01457.72s - 1458.9s

On a bad team.

Speaker 11459.32s - 1461.28s

Like, when you're a voter for all big 10,

Speaker 01461.86s - 1473.74s

and you know Mel Tucker got fired like in September. Like you're not voting for any Michigan GPE state guys. I haven't looked at this film. I don't know. But I, but I, am I going to see a player who's that much better than Buford PERSON and Singleton PERSON?

Speaker 11474.16s - 1486.38s

It's this, I mean, to me, it's interesting that those film personnel staffs, the best in college football right now, called them on the first day. I don't know. If a Singleton coming off injury, a Buford PERSON coming off injury. Injuries are a factor.

Speaker 01486.94s - 1487.92s

We would get those kind of calls.

Speaker 11487.92s - 1489.54s

I don't think Malcolm PERSON would get those calls.

Speaker 01489.54s - 1490.26s

No, I don't.

Speaker 11490.66s - 1495.78s

But I'm not, no, no, I have a lot of respect for those.

Speaker 01496.06s - 1496.32s

I do.

Speaker 11496.38s - 1506.6s

I'm not saying I did, but I'm just saying that when you're trying to make this analysis of make room guys, well, if those teams want him, you're probably going to want him to.

Speaker 01506.72s - 1511.56s

You're probably right. And it's going to, there's going to be a price tag, though. Yeah, I'm not

Speaker 11511.56s - 1518.22s

planting my flag in the hill on this one, but I, those guys are good. Buford, Puford ORG can play

Speaker 01518.22s - 1523.72s

about anywhere. I mean, but yeah, this is the only real activity we've seen in the portal.

Speaker 11523.82s - 1525.12s

This is big.

Speaker 01527.08s - 1527.32s

I mean, this is a big visitor for Nebraska ORG.

Speaker 11527.8s - 1528s

It's fascinating.

Speaker 01529.2s - 1529.4s

He's been here once before.

Speaker 11532.28s - 1532.36s

June of 2021, he took a high school official visit here.

Speaker 01533.44s - 1533.5s

Now, I would say this.

Speaker 11535.9s - 1536.92s

I don't think he's here without 1890.

Speaker 01541.5s - 1546.76s

No, I mean, you can't even get in the conversation with the guy like this. If you don't have a very well-structured and well-heeled collective, if you don't pass the credit check.

Speaker 11550.1s - 1554.98s

Right. Right. You've got to have a good credit score on this one. You got to go through the

Speaker 01554.98s - 1559.86s

finance department first before you get even buy the car. Yeah. You can't have just a good

Speaker 11559.86s - 1564.46s

credit score. You need a very good credit score, very good to grade. But like Michigan GPE is not known

Speaker 01564.46s - 1569.02s

for a lead in. Now, maybe that's changed, but they have not really tried to go like

Speaker 11569.02s - 1574.58s

crazy and Ohio State we know has. Yeah. Michigan GPE's known for winning a national title. Right.

Speaker 01574.88s - 1580.46s

That's. And they're known for winning big 10 titles of late. Um, so. Yeah. He,

Speaker 11580.46s - 1587.2s

yeah, really interesting though that Nebraska ORG is getting a visit along with Ohio State and Michigan. Good on Nebraska.

Speaker 01587.38s - 1592.04s

Right. Let's take it. Headline 4, Huskron Headlines ORG. Before you go crazy on me.

Speaker 11592.62s - 1605.04s

What's that? Before you go crazy on me. Huskerallel, Headline, headlines is brought to you by Heartland Red, Lincoln GPE's quality deck builders. And who doesn't want a great deck?

Okay, headline number four, and it's kind of a, I got some bad news on this one. Carter Nelson's quest for 40 points of the state track meet began today.

Speaker 01693.98s - 1699.5s

Well, unfortunately, the C5 district and Atkinson at Westhold High School ORG.

Speaker 11700.1s - 1728.78s

Carter Nelson is competing here on Thursday in the 200 meter, the pole vault, the long jump, and the discus. The discus was considered to be his top event. He was ranked in the top 20 nationally number one in the entire state. Well, he got three throws. He scratched two of his throws at districts. And his third, his other throw went 123 feet in change. So Carter Nelson, who has one of the top discus throws in the country,

Speaker 01728.88s - 1732.7s

has failed to qualify for state track and the discus.

Speaker 11732.96s - 1733.72s

That's a good update.

Speaker 01733.8s - 1734.92s

It's unfortunate for Carter PERSON.

Speaker 11735.02s - 1737.5s

He had thrown the disc is 188 feet.

Speaker 01737.62s - 1740.3s

Yeah, 188 feet one inch.

Speaker 11741.94s - 1743.16s

Yeah, so you were right.

Speaker 01743.22s - 1746.92s

Number one in this state. We wonder what happened. I guess it can just happen.

Speaker 11747.12s - 1749.86s

We get three try. I mean, I'm getting, it can just have it.

Speaker 01749.86s - 1752.9s

It's easier you just say like, hey, you should just get one on the board, you know,

Speaker 11752.9s - 1755.94s

get one that that's like 160-ish, 50-ish, get it out there.

Speaker 01755.94s - 1757.28s

Then go for it. Yeah.

Speaker 11758s - 1767.9s

Um, but. Calhanna PERSON. He scratched it. Now, he won the long jump. He did win the long jump. And he's got pole vault coming here as we're taping Thursday in the 200.And the 200, okay.

Speaker 01768.06s - 1770.54s

He's ranked in the state.

Speaker 11770.9s - 1772.02s

I got it right here if he needed.

Speaker 01772.2s - 1772.9s

He's number,

Speaker 11773.2s - 1776.16s

number two in the 200 meter and three in the pole ball.

Speaker 01776.28s - 1808.04s

Three in the pole vault at 14. So, yeah, he can still score high. Yeah, it's disappointing,I guess, but he's still having a remarkable spring. He's a remarkable athlete. You see that photo. He loved, you know, Carter PERSON's all about teammates. Tracks really not a team sport. Is it not in my opinion anyway? But he's all about, he loved being in Ainsworth GPE. He loved competing with those guys. And, yeah, he'll do fine. He'll do fine.

Speaker 11808.2s - 1812.26s

I just said somebody on our board had posted that he broke his pole in the pole vault.

Speaker 01812.38s - 1812.96s

Oh boy.

Speaker 11813.08s - 1816.92s

Um, but he's got another pull evidently, but that was always a challenge. Yeah.

Speaker 01816.92s - 1822.46s

I don't think the lay person understands that, but, um, a lot of these polls only go up to

Speaker 11822.46s - 1823.94s

215 pounds.

Speaker 01824.12s - 1833.5s

Right. Yeah. So he's put so much force on it because of his size, 64, 220, that they had trouble he and his father finding poles.

Speaker 11833.82s - 1840.4s

And they make an Olympic pole that's 245. Okay. And those are extremely expensive and hard to come by.

Speaker 01840.5s - 1848.22s

Yeah. So there's challenges there. But again, he's had a remarkable spring. Are we going to see this? That's

Speaker 11848.22s - 1852.92s

what's Megan have here. Oh, that that's his indoor vault at South Dakota GPE. That's

Speaker 01852.92s - 1859.24s

pretty good. And that was that. Hey, this was like one week after state basketball. He's a freak

Speaker 11859.24s - 1864.72s

athlete. That was one week after the state basketball tournament. He's a freak. I mean,

Speaker 01864.72s - 1881.36s

that's what we're dealing with. I mean, try pole vault. Okay. Yeah, he's an amazing athlete. He's going, now, I keep saying it, and I'll say it again. I don't mind.Get him ready. He'll be here in June. Give him a crash course in that offense. Get him ready. He'll be a weapon.

Speaker 11881.96s - 1898.6s

I spoke in Hawaii. He'll be a weapon. And I spoke to a track coach this week, um, ran track for the Huskers ORG as well. We're, you know, big time track coach in the state right now. And he said that Carter Nelson PERSON is one of the best all around track athletes he's ever seen come through this state.

Speaker 01898.76s - 1903.16s

And that's what's crazy is he, he could go to college and be a decathlete.

Speaker 11903.46s - 1907.14s

Good God. I mean, the only thing he'd have to tune up is a mile.

Speaker 01907.64s - 1908.94s

But for most of the catholics,

Speaker 11909.04s - 1910.7s

that's always the, that's the hardest one.

Speaker 01910.72s - 1915.02s

Yeah, yeah. Because you, you throw, jump, run.I mean, yeah, that's a lot.

Speaker 11915.4s - 1924.1s

And look, he's, he's, he's, uh, teams have asked him to do track. Jake Nelson PERSON has told me that he's not,he's interested in going to the NFL ORG. Right. Yeah.

Speaker 01924.18s - 1966.1s

And I don't want to go overboard with that whole talk. I'm not, I'm not going to project him as, you know, the next Dave Casper PERSON or anything like that. But I think he can come to, I'm just saying, I think he can come to Nebraska ORG as a true freshman and make a significant impact. I'll just leave it at that, significant impact. He's that kind of player. It's not crazy. We, we not only saw him play in an all-star game in Hawaii, more importantly, we saw practice. And he's, he was one of the best players on the field and on that field where a lot of four and five star players. There were times I thought he looked like one of the top five players on that field. So yeah, it's not, it's not trust me when I tell you,

Speaker 11966.1s - 1972.42s

it's not crazy talk. All right. Some other notable track mark. So the state track meet is next

Speaker 01972.42s - 1980.26s

week. Yes. In Omaha ORG and class A will, and B will take place. That will all take place on

Speaker 11980.26s - 1999.76s

Wednesday and Thursday. And you know, a lot of Husker, future Huskers ORG, Husker targets, uh, Rowdy Bauer, um, from Norfolk, a walk on leads the state in Long Jump. Um, that's notable. You'll have, um, how about this? Mo, Maurice Purify has got a kid that as a sophomore long jump 21, 2.

Speaker 02000.3s - 2006.16s

Maurice Purify goes by Maurice Pierrify the second and he's a 6-4 sophomore, Lincoln North Star ORG.

Speaker 12006.34s - 2007.62s

Boy, dad was good.

Speaker 02009.04s - 2016.5s

I mean, you know, I always go when I talk about big receivers, that's the guy that's the guy I go to first. Maurice Purify PERSON. Maybe Quincy and Nunn PERSON were right.

Speaker 12016.5s - 2023.38s

That's like the first big body, I mean, Wilson Thomas PERSON was one of the, but not even in the same league as Marie's ORG.

Speaker 02023.38s - 2026.14s

God bless Wilson Thomas PERSON. He had a nice career, but Maurice's. But like Maurice Purify is the standard of the, but not even in the same league as Maurice. God bless Wilson Thomas PERSON. He had a nice career, but

Speaker 12026.14s - 2029.34s

Maurice Purify PERSON is the standard of the

Speaker 02029.34s - 2039.4s

Steve Sipple, all big body team. Yeah. Yeah. He, well, I'll say all big body receiver team. All big body. And then I'd say Quincy PERSON. Right. Quincy.

Speaker 12039.4s - 2045.52s

The A and M touchdown pass to Zach Taylor PERSON to purify.

Speaker 02047.38s - 2060.72s

It's beautiful to watch. Right. And it's exactly why a part of the reason I like those big receivers because I'm sure the conversation was, hey, Texas A&M's corners 510, just run to the- Like a box them out, like you're going up for a rebound.

Speaker 12060.72s - 2062.82s

Run to the corner of the end zone and box him out.

Speaker 02063.18s - 2067.28s

And Zach PERSON will throw it up, throw it up for you. And it'll be a touchdown and that's what it was.

Speaker 12067.66s - 2073.28s

Don't make it harder than it is. If you have a 6-4 guy like Maurice Purify PERSON, do it. Maybe Maurice Purify the second.

Speaker 02073.88s - 2074.7s

Is he a good football player?

Speaker 12075.38s - 2082.5s

Yeah, he had a good sophomore year. Now, is he a D1 level prospect? Yeah, it's hard to say. But that's a long jump number should get to your attention.

Speaker 02082.62s - 2083.18s

It sure does.

Speaker 12083.42s - 2084.92s

For a sophomore jumping that far.

Speaker 02085.44s - 2088.96s

Yeah. Christian Jones, Westside, not running the 100.

Speaker 12089.06s - 2090.28s

Didn't run the 100 at districts.

Speaker 02090.82s - 2094.36s

So I don't know if that's an injury deal, but he did qualify in shot put.

Speaker 12094.44s - 2097.58s

He goes 54, 3 in a quarter as a linebacker.

Speaker 02098.18s - 2106.08s

Donovan Jones is going to take part in three events at state, ran 1088, 22 and the hundred and the 200 and he's also on

Speaker 12106.08s - 2113.08s

north highest four by one team on preston ok for future usker walk on ran 1088 kaden vermas

Speaker 02113.08s - 2117.32s

um in his first year of running track he's qualified for state in three events

Speaker 12117.32s - 2121.78s

katin wants to come up we got to get katin back in the studio this summer yeah we need to

Speaker 02121.78s - 2125.9s

he's he want they want to come up here so So we'll get him up here again. Um,

Speaker 12126.24s - 2146.68s

there's another cotton by the way, Keenan Cotton at Westside man the youngest of the Cotton brothers. He ran 10.9.6. He's faster than that. I think he probably held back a little bit at districts. He could win the hundred. Uh, so a lot of, uh, a lot of names to watch. Ryman Zebert ran 4984 in the 400. Oh boy.

Speaker 02147.38s - 2151.02s

Man. All right. Good list, Sean PERSON. That's a good list.

Speaker 12151.08s - 2152s

So yeah, you'll, uh,

Speaker 02152s - 2160.74s

Oh, there's Ryman PERSON. Okay. Ryman Zebrot PERSON. Tide ends. Tide ends. There's a lot of tight ends around here, Sean PERSON.Tideons central.

Speaker 12160.74s - 2162.56s

Tideons all over the place.

Speaker 02162.76s - 2163.58s

Jet Tinglehof PERSON,

Speaker 12163.58s - 2166.48s

Elkhorn North GPE. That's Mick. He's related to Mick Tinglehoff. If he's not, it'd be really strange. Like, ons all over the place. Jet Tinglehof, Elkhorn North. That's Mick, he's related to Mick Tinglehoff PERSON.

Speaker 02166.52s - 2168.52s

If he's not, it'd be really strange. Like,

Speaker 12169.36s - 2185.76s

he's Elkhorn North's ORG best football player. He could win the 400, though. He's really, he's a 48, 49 type guy at his peak.Well, yeah, I'm excited for stay track. Unfortunately, Carter Nelson PERSON couldn't get in the discis because he was favored to win the all-class goal.I've never seen that happen. Wow.

Speaker 02186.5s - 2191.32s

Yeah, not just an unfortunate day, but again, he'll be fine.

Speaker 12191.46s - 2269.58s

Okay, final headline. Nebraska is preparing now, Steve, for a big visit weekend. It's the first of kind of a run here. They have two more weekends coming up in June, but you kind of look at the map here. They've got spring game weekend, which they've had eight official visitors in. They've got this weekend where they're expected three or four to come in for Mother's Day weekend. And then there's two more visit weekends on June 14th and June 21 where 17 more guys come in. So as a show taping, there's 29 official visitors that will come in. And that number will probably get into the 30s. But that's the board. When you try to figure out a team's recruiting board, look no further than who the players are coming in for official visits official visits well the big one this weekend is the four-star offensive lineman from bixby

Speaker 02269.58s - 2276.08s

oklahoma broderick shoal PERSON that's the big one well well and stay tuned there's i think there's more

Speaker 12276.08s - 2281.42s

coming but yeah um that's what we know of right now broderick sholl PERSON and then nicholas clayton

Speaker 02281.42s - 2287.8s

and edge rusher out of florida um our own brian Munson has put his RPM pick in for him to Nebraska ORG.

Speaker 12287.96s - 2307.38s

And then Caleb Benning will come in for his official and never was able to take it last year because of basketball. Uh, but positive on that is you'll have, you know, a current member of the recruiting class around the other recruits. And then Damon, uh, a former Husker NORP player, color analyst, great ambassador for the program. He'll be around the weekend as well.

Speaker 02307.74s - 2322.8s

Big. Yeah. That's that's, uh, yeah. I mean, they're going to be working on Mother's Day weekend pretty hard. Not in Scholl GPE gets your attention for sure. Um, but now people are going to be wondering, who's this other person, Sean PERSON's talking about? Stay tuned. Who's this other person?

Speaker 12323.24s - 2338s

But yeah, we talk about like a skill player. I'm not going to. Yeah. Yeah. Um, but yeah, it gives you an idea about Matt Ruhl PERSON. Um, just, I mean, they're working on mothers. There's no, there's really no other staffs in the country that are going to host visitors this weekend.

Speaker 02338s - 2361.16s

You don't think so? No. Really. Yes. Yeah, Matt PERSON. And then like, let me just think about what's going on here. They play the spring game significant. And it goes really well, by the way. The spring game like, let me just think about what's going on here. They play the spring game significant. And it goes really well, by the way. The spring game went really well when you think about it. Came off well, came off better than his first one. It did generate some excitement. It was well done. And then what's, what's he do the next weekend, Sean PERSON? Goes into Omaha ORG with a camp.

Speaker 12362.16s - 2363.68s

Now they're working Mother's Day weekend.

Speaker 02363.68s - 2436.36s

Yeah, yeah. So rule will tell you, in fact, I heard him say this the other day. He, it's not working for Matt PERSON isn't for everybody. It's because of the pace and the expectation. That's what he said. That's right, right from Matt Rule's PERSON mouth. The pace, the pace is high. I mean, it's not, it's not easy. It's not for everybody, frankly. He has high expectation level. In fact, we heard some of this from Dr. Elsa today. The expectation level is high. Everybody's tied to the win-loss record. I mean, your job is, it's tied to that. And it's not like that everywhere. One thing we found out a lot about today, and we talked earlier about meeting, the media meeting with Dr. Susan Elza, the chief of staff, and Sean Padden PERSON, the general manager. We learned a lot, Sean PERSON, about the operation. We did. It's, we have to write about it. I mean, we're not going to write about it all today, but we're going to write about it because I think there's a lot in that talk that people need to know.

Speaker 12436.7s - 2438.62s

Yeah, and then, um, or just watch the video.

Speaker 02438.86s - 2444.16s

Recruiting wise, though, you know, one of the reasons why you might bring a higher profile guy in right

Speaker 12444.16s - 2446.86s

now is because everybody's fighting for those June weekends. Okay. And some of these players are, you know, they of the reasons why you might bring a higher profile guy in right now is because everybody's fighting for those June weekends.

Speaker 02447.48s - 2452.32s

And some of these players are, you know, they have their pickup, Georgia, Alabama GPE, teams like

Speaker 12452.32s - 2467.5s

that for the June, the June weekends. Because those are the premium tables in the restaurant, the June recruiting weekends. Yep. And some of these guys, Nebraska probably couldn't get in in June because they've already got Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, you name it, in those weekends.

Speaker 02467.62s - 2472.48s

So that's why maybe this weekend, you're going to see Nebraska ORG bring in some higher

Speaker 12472.48s - 2485.24s

profile guy, um, like they, that we know about already, uh, coming in, Scholl GPE, um, just because they can get them in here now. And this is their opportunity. And you might only get one swing at them.

Speaker 02486.38s - 2487.66s

Well, this will be a big swing.

Speaker 12487.86s - 2490.68s

And a new facility will be fully opened. Yes,

Speaker 02490.74s - 2504s

and that's helpful. It's helpful. It's not a, I don't think I would call ever, it's not necessarily a deal breaker in these conversations, but it definitely helps.Definitely helps. And we need to, I think we're going to, Dr. Elsa PERSON kind of hinted that I think we're going to get a tour.

Speaker 12504.34s - 2505.86s

Yeah, we'll get a tour. I need a tour. I just need to drive by it.'re going to, Dr. Elsa PERSON kind of hinted that I think we're going to get a tour. Yeah, we'll get a tour. I need a tour.

Speaker 02506.2s - 2511.1s

I just need to drive by it. I haven't even drove by it. You can drive by it.

Speaker 12511.4s - 2514.44s

Yeah, that East LOC horseshoe, you don't even like get around there anymore.

Speaker 02514.82s - 2515.42s

Oh, you don't.

Speaker 12515.48s - 2517.9s

Well, I just feel like I never get on that side.

Speaker 02517.9s - 2519.06s

Oh, you can if you want to.

Speaker 12519.12s - 2523.84s

No, in general, though, you just never have a reason to drive around. Here's my deal.

Speaker 02524.12s - 2540.34s

And this is too much information for you. And you probably didn't even know this. They used to have, and I'm talking two years ago, pull-up bars outside the military science, military and science building, whatever it was. And I would go on that horseshoe all the time.

Speaker 12540.62s - 2542.32s

During COVID EVENT, you did a lot of work out there, right?

Speaker 02542.36s - 2544.74s

Yeah, well, COVID EVENT and beyond.

Speaker 12545.16s - 2552.9s

And I would park over on that horseshoe all the time and then wander over to the stadium and just kind of look at, I don't know, just look at it because it was kind of fun.

Speaker 02552.9s - 2562.38s

They have the, they have the statue out there, the football players. And I'd go over there and check things out, but I haven't been over there recently.

Speaker 12562.66s - 2567.18s

During COVID EVENT, when you just were looking for things to do.

Speaker 02567.32s - 2580.02s

I mean, people would go over there. Like my wife and daughters, we would just drive over there. Yeah. And we'd have a picnic on campus. Yeah, I saw people doing that. And it was, it was like a big part. I mean, it was great. Nobody's on campus. Right. And it was weird.

Speaker 12580.16s - 2590.16s

You were just sitting like, it was almost like a, like a nuclear bomb went off and cleared out everybody. and you were walking around this campus that houses 25,000 people and you were the only people on it.

Speaker 02590.16s - 2598.18s

Oh, I used to do it all the time. It was eerie. It was really eerie. Well, and what I was fast, I was like, because that was when they were supposed to break ground for the project.

Speaker 12598.18s - 2605.54s

And they never did. They had a wait. Right. And in my mind, I'm like, God, it would make so much sense to do all this right now when nothing's going on.

Speaker 02605.6s - 2607.54s

You'd have car boulange access to the campus.

Speaker 12607.82s - 2608.38s

But I wonder.

Speaker 02608.64s - 2613.38s

They had to wait politically because of the money, you know, like they had a bunch of construction workers out there during COVID EVENT.

Speaker 12613.5s - 2615.4s

In that period, yeah, just wouldn't have been.

Speaker 02615.6s - 2621.32s

Even though construction companies had record profits during COVID EVENT, I mean, things did not slow down.

Speaker 12621.7s - 2622.06s

Interesting.

Speaker 02622.86s - 2624.8s

But yeah, that was a fascinating time.

Speaker 12624.9s - 2626.68s

The facility's now done.

Speaker 02627.82s - 2629.72s

Everybody's in is my impression. Is that right?

Speaker 12629.8s - 2640.08s

Just think about that press conference in 2019 when Wondell Robinson and Bill Moose PERSON, Scott Frost PERSON spoke. And here we are in June of 2024, finally there.

Speaker 02640.54s - 2658.9s

It took longer than they wanted. Dr. Elsa PERSON mentioned that. I mean, she was pretty frank about it. Took longer than they wanted. Dr. Elsa PERSON mentioned that. I mean, she just, she was pretty frank about it.Took longer than they wanted. But here they are. And they're very, they're very appreciative of it. And it would be, I always think of it in terms of what a place to go to work every day.

Speaker 12660.22s - 2660.34s

Then Moose PERSON did the groundbreaking.

Speaker 02661.9s - 2661.98s

Not that the post office is bad.

Speaker 12662.2s - 2666.96s

Hey, we're, we got a new sign out front. I don't know if you've seen it. You got a brand new sign. Appreciate your defense of the post office is bad. Hey, we're, we got a new sign out front. I don't know if you've seen it. You got a brand new sign.

Speaker 02667.08s - 2673.9s

Appreciate your defense of the post office. Um, it doesn't look handsome. Yes. Okay. Good. All right.

Speaker 12673.9s - 2679.92s

Well, not quite, not quite like the training facility on campus, but close enough.

Speaker 02680.02s - 2685.54s

Big weekend for Husker baseball as well, Home games, final home games against Indiana GPE,

Speaker 12685.68s - 2703.56s

and these are probably the final home games of the year as Nebraska's RPI dropped from the low 20s to about 30 after their loss of South Dakota State ORG. So rough weekend for a rough midweek loss, and that continues to be the bugaboo for Nebraska ORG baseball as they can't figure out the midweek.

Speaker 02704.08s - 2724.32s

No, and it's interesting. It's been, the season is, the dynamic is interesting to me because it is a good season. They're still, they're still in the thick of Big Ten ORG contention. They can win the Big Ten title, but the whole conversation is so marred by the midweek record, which I believe is four and seven.

Speaker 12724.44s - 2727.44s

Because you're losing the teams with players that you wouldn't even recruit.

Speaker 02728s - 2733.16s

Right. South Dakota states the last place league team, excuse me, the last place team in the Summit League ORG.

Speaker 12734.06s - 2736.9s

And they came up here with a guy from Waverly GPE.

Speaker 02736.98s - 2741.3s

Who hit two three run homers. I think his name is Thatcher Cozell PERSON.

Speaker 12742.2s - 2745.78s

Double chief. That you probably has Nebraska ORG never even considered recruiting here.

Speaker 02745.82s - 2755.82s

It's two, three-run, home runs in your stadium. Oh, I almost hate to talk about this. And you know why, because Will PERSON is not a good loser.

Speaker 12756.12s - 2760.1s

No, I can't even imagine Will Bolt this morning on Thursday morning.

Speaker 02760.22s - 2760.62s

Agonizing.

Speaker 12761.28s - 2764.98s

And Childress, I mean, those guys are intense competitors.

Speaker 02764.98s - 2767.04s

The expectations that are at

Speaker 12767.04s - 2771.92s

nebraska baseball that are still here today are because of those guys yeah because of childer ORG's

Speaker 02771.92s - 2776.88s

fan horn will bull guys like that and you're getting you a lot i think you're ahead six to going in the

Speaker 12776.88s - 2782.92s

eighth i remember i i kind of tuned it off like all right they're going to get it yeah and i was working

Speaker 02782.92s - 2787.38s

on my three two one and then i'm like god this inning's lasting a long time. They figured out why.

Speaker 12787.98s - 2792.08s

They gave up like 10 runs in an inning. No, they didn't give up 10. I know, but it was bad.

Speaker 02792.08s - 2797.68s

But it was bad. Yeah. Yeah. It was bad. It was a tough loss. So yeah, but again,

Speaker 12798.16s - 2803.78s

huge series against Indiana, chance to win the big 10. So our full coverage of that as well

Speaker 02803.78s - 2806s

on Husker Online ORG and more coverage coming out through these press conferences we had, as well as the visit weekend. So we'll have full coverage of that as well on Husker Online and more coverage

Speaker 12806s - 2809.9s

coming out through these press conferences we had as well as the visit weekend. So make sure you

Speaker 02809.9s - 2815.44s
