News 88.7 ORG. If you are someone you know runs a child care center, you'll need to hear this. Harris County GPE is offering a property tax exemption for child care operators, but the deadline for applying for the exemption was yesterday. Speaking at a child care center, Commissioner's Court, Judge Elina Hidalgo PERSON, encouraged the child care facilities to fill out an application to get the exemption.

They apply on the Harris County Appraisal District website, and if they're in the city of Houston GPE, they're going to have a little bit more of a break because they also pay city taxes. And just sending one application, we'll figure it out on our end.

Voters in November approved Proposition 2 LAW, which allowed municipalities to decide whether to offer the exemption. The operator of the state's power grid is warning of a possible emergency through tomorrow night because of a potential shortfall of power reserves. The call began at 7 o'clock last night, and it could last again until tomorrow night. The agency is considering delaying or canceling plan-power plant outages and may need to shore up available supplies by about 2,800 megawatts QUANTITY. Urquhart PERSON says the warnings are based on analysis from a variety of scenarios. Grid conditions are often tight this time of year because of the heat,and Erkot says more potential emergencies could occur later this summer.
