Krista PERSON, finally, there are some positive developments on the cost of living. Consumer prices increased by only 0.3% between March and April. That's less than expected, less than the month before. Annually, prices rose 3.4%. That is a slight improvement for March and a sign that inflation is once again moving in the right direction. So what changed? Well, Americans NORP caught a break on food. Grocery prices fell. So did airfare, furniture, new cars, and used cars.Another positive core inflation, which excludes food and energy, was the lowest in three years. Put all this together, and it's clear inflation hasn't been solved, but this does provide new evidence of progress, and that is raising hope on Wall Street that the Fed ORG just might be able to lower interest rates by September, which, by the way, is the final meeting before the election.

Ukrainian president, Vladimir Zelensky PERSON, is canceling all of his upcoming international travel as Russia pushes into the Har-Keeve region. These are Moscow GPE's most significant gains since Kiev's forces recaptured the northeastern region in 2022. More than 100 wildfires are tearing across Canada GPE and choking the air with smoke, forcing thousands of people to evacuate, and the flames are threatening a city still scarred bya catastrophic 2016 fire dubbed the Beast. Roads out of Fort McMurray and Alberta GPE were crammed with cars trying to leave Tuesday, as the out-of-control 51,000-acre wildfire gets closer and closer to the edge of the city. Thick smoke is making it hard for firefighters to see as they battle the flames, forcing some to be removed from the front line. It also wafted into the U.S. GPE, causing poor air quality from the Dakotas into Oklahoma GPE.Up next, a little dog wins big at the Westminster Dog Show EVENT. Sage, the miniature poodle, has won Bestin's show at the 2024-Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. The all-black ball of fluff is the first female to take the top prize since 2020, and she's the fourth of her kind to win.
