Speaker 10s - 10.26s

Hey, this is Greg Boyson from CHGO Blackhawks ORG.

Speaker 210.56s - 16.32s

And I am Dufus McGee, aka Greg Braggs Jr. from CHGO Bears ORG.

Speaker 116.9s - 56.82s

And this is CHGO Tavern-style presented by Salerno's Pizza ORG. Head over to the Grand Avenue location and call 312 6663444 and make a reservation today and today You guys were eating some salernos yesterday. I would eat salernos every day if that could be a thing. Yes, they were happy enough to send over a giant order ahead of the NHL draft lottery, which is the inspiration of today's topic, which team, the Bears or the Blackhawks ORG, is further along in their rebuildas both teams are trying to become the next champion here in Chicago.

Speaker 257.04s - 115.56s

Right. Yeah, it's interesting, right? Because, you know, the franchise player for each team, Connor Bedard and now for the Bears, Caleb Williams, I mean, Connor's going into his second the Bears, Caleb Williams. I mean, Connor PERSON is going into his second yearwhere Caleb's going into his rookie season here this year. So from the franchise player standpoint alone, maybe the Blackhawks ORG have that argument, but then I look at the team in its totality and maybe you can, you know, educate me a little more on how far along the Black Hawk's ORG roster is. But it just feels like the defense, the Bears, you know, had the second half of the season. They led the entire NFL in interceptions with 22 interceptions. Most of those coming after they traded for Montes-Wet PERSON. So their defense is already ready to go. Then you traded for keen, or you brought in Keenan Allen PERSON.You've got DJ Moore PERSON on your team. You know, you get Roma Dunzee with the ninth pick in the draft. And all of a sudden, the Bears ORG somehow, some way, have an offense, at least on paper that seems like it's got some weaponry.

Speaker 1116.28s - 121.9s

Yeah. Overall, rebuilding in the NFL is a lot quicker process than in the NHL ORG.

Speaker 2122.06s - 126.1s

Because in the NFL ORG, when you're a draft pick, you play right away.

Speaker 1126.2s - 161.18s

There's no minor leagues. There's no junior leagues. You either make the team or you don't. Sure. And you're also picking 21-year-olds, 22-year-olds. Where in hockey, you're picking 18-year-olds, 19-year-olds.They're not even fully grown yet. You have to let them develop more. So, yes, the Black black hawks ORG got their franchise player the bears hopefully have theirs but i think the bears are further along because of all those other pieces they have definitely put caleb williams in a much better position to succeed in year one than

Speaker 2161.18s - 192.24s

connor bernard was for the black hawks it's a unique situation most rookies i don't care what sport right when you're the number one pick you typically aren't coming into a team that is ready to win but with the bears having the panthers pick that was the unique situation where they were essentially you know a fringe playoff team last year that also happened to have the rights to the number one pick from a team that was truly the worst in the NFL, that being the Carolina Panthers ORG. Thank you, Carolina Panthers ORG.

Speaker 1192.24s - 195.78s

Oh, forever and always. For basically reshaping the Bears ORG franchise.

Speaker 2195.78s - 201.86s

We should send them some Salernos PRODUCT. Yeah, I mean, thank the Carolina Panthers and thank Salernos PRODUCT.

Speaker 1201.98s - 236.42s

Speaker 0236.5s - 242.94s

That's a hell of a deal. It is. So head to Salerno's pizza.com today and get yourself the best pizza in Chicago.

Speaker 1243.28s - 243.96s

It's a hell of a deal.

Speaker 2244.04s - 284.76s

So I guess, let me ask you this this because, you know, like you said, players play right away in the NFL ORG. So Caleb Williams, you know, I think is going to get some leeway to develop into a great quarterback in this league. But, you know, it is an instant gratification league that is the NFL ORG. How long, because you said, like it takes players in hockey to mature and become grown men, that's, you know, a hard sport to keep up with with some of the guys that are some of the vets. So how long until Connor Bredard PERSON reaches his final form, his full potential as the superstar that we all knew him to be when they drafted him.

Speaker 1285.26s - 334.68s

Well, that also depends on how quickly the team around him improves because hockey, to me, is the ultimate team sport. You have to have 18 guys pulling in the same direction in order for it to work. Let me just look at Connor McDavid and Edmonton ORG. Very few people argue he's not the best player in the game, one of the maybe best to ever do it. And he's struggled to, he's not even made it to a Stanley Cup EVENT final that win a cup. And a lot of that is to do because questions with goaltending, questions with defense. You know, no scoring depth. Got to do it all on his own where, you know, once that team around Counter-Badard PERSON gets better, it's going to open up the ice more for him.But as far as, like, physically going to be there, it's probably another two seasons before we really see him hit his full stride.

Speaker 0334.68s - 340.1s

Also, too, just with the second overall pick, if they take the Russian, he might not even be over next year.

Speaker 1340.24s - 347.26s

Like, it might even be, you know, not even. But again, he's 18. Right. Even if he was a, if you pick him from a junior team in Canada GPE, he's probably not.

Speaker 2347.26s - 361.46s

So how big of a disappointment was that the Bears got the number one pick two years in a row? You guys felt just short of it having number one last year, kind of Berard PERSON. Now this year, you get the number two pick. Was that a huge disappointment or the Blackhawks ORG still coming away with a really good player?

Speaker 1361.46s - 364.74s

Not even a disappointment at all because you got Counter-Burd last year.

Speaker 2365.1s - 367.68s

Where if you went two last year and one this year,

Speaker 1367.74s - 383.78s

I see. Not as good as getting Connor Bredard and two this year. I was fine. They couldn't have fallen below fourth. Any one of those spots is great because you already have Connor Bredard PERSON. And you have a second first-round pick. And you have three second round picks. And you have two first-round picks.

Speaker 2383.78s - 392.12s

So who are you looking with this pick? Is it of a duncan keith type or more of a jonathan taves type to kind of bernard's

Speaker 1392.12s - 405.96s

patrick kane to do a loose comparison hockey wise because what will be talking about that a lot we talked about it after the draft was it after we know where they had two we're going to talk about it on a wednesday show and probably every show between now on the drafts

Speaker 2405.96s - 432.66s

Because it always shocks me when I talk to you guys on CSGO Blackhawks And to a man, all three of you, like most borderline hockey fans, just the average hockey fan that just watches the games, doesn't break it down as hard would say Patrick Kane PERSON, John and Taves PERSON are the best players from the dynasty But you guys always say Duncan Keith PERSON.So to me, wouldn't you want to find that Duncan Keith PERSON type to add to this roster? Those guys are hard to find.

Speaker 1433.38s - 449.1s

There is a candidate there. There is a right-handed shot defenseman that could be the pick or there's a talented young kid from Russia GPE. Those are the two choices. So it's up to Kyle Davidson PERSON who already says we're taking best player available, not necessarily by position.

Speaker 2449.26s - 461.74s

So we shall see. We'll have about seven weeks to talk about it on CHJM ORG. Well, it's exciting. I mean, yeah, I mean, just in terms of who's closer, I think the Bears ORG already have a lot of those piecesin terms of...

Speaker 1461.74s - 465.58s

You get the cheat code. You hopefully have your franchise quarterback, and that is the

Speaker 2465.58s - 496.8s

difference in the NFL there are very few guys like that and if Caleb Williams is that guy that puts you over the top yep I mean Caleb Williams should be a multiplier and he's going to a team that has a lot of multipliers already on it when you consider Keenan Allen PERSON in the career he's had even last year even at his age was one of the best years of his career DJ Moore is a multiplier you know so if Caleb Williams adds to that now you're multiplying the multipliers and now that's a lot of math that hurts my brain a lot of numbers numbers bigger than

Speaker 1496.8s - 502.4s

we can get into as we are out of time it's good time to be a Chicago sports fan all of a sudden baby

Speaker 2502.4s - 508.96s

well our producer Sean PERSON may not agree with that necessarily, but yes, overall, it's not

Speaker 1508.96s - 509.54s

a bad time.

Speaker 2509.76s - 512.8s

I will take the Bears being good over the White Sox ORG being good.

Speaker 1513.3s - 513.82s

That's fair.

Speaker 0514.2s - 514.74s

That's fair.

Speaker 1514.88s - 515.94s

It's a good time.

Speaker 0516.06s - 516.28s

Yeah.

Speaker 1516.58s - 517.66s

Greg PERSON was right to clap.

Speaker 0517.82s - 518.88s

The other Greg PERSON, not you, Greg.

Speaker 2518.98s - 519.18s

All right.

Speaker 0519.28s - 520.76s

Two Greggs PERSON don't make a right.

Speaker 2523.56s - 525.18s

We all silly like the mayor.
