Hey, there, Delilah GPE. I've heard of them. I have heard of them as well.. Hey there, Delilah GPE. I've heard of them. I have heard of them as well. Hey, there, Delilah GPE. I wonder what those guys are up to these days. I'm Woodsie PERSON.That's Paul Rindle PERSON. He's the executive producer of the program. Good morning. Paulie PERSON. Good morning.

Speaker 2174.98s - 175.72s

Benjamin Higgins.

Speaker 3175.86s - 186.58s

Speaking of plain white teas. Delilah GPE. It's good to see you, my friend. Good morning. It's good to make it to another Friday this week. You've got one of your special Christmas shirts from Polly PERSON.

Speaker 2186.6s - 186.86s

Correct.

Speaker 12187.52s - 195.96s

Yeah, it's comfy, isn't it? Kind of the olive green version here. You look good in olive green. Thank you. Olive drab. Like an army man.

Speaker 2196.88s - 199.94s

Yes, I'm the noted army man of the group here.

Speaker 12199.94s - 203.98s

You look more military today than anyone.

Speaker 2204.64s - 206.54s

You would have been a really good general.

Speaker 12207.5s - 209.02s

Very bad private.

Speaker 2209.06s - 212.1s

But the problem, you have to ascend through the ranks.

Speaker 12212.2s - 226.5s

But if they could have hired you on the spot to be like, you do all the paperwork, lead the men. That would be good. It would be the rope course, the monkey bars, the shooting, the basic training. You're done. PT.

Speaker 2227.18s - 228.14s

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 12228.22s - 233.58s

But you could have, like, you would be a good hire for the military, just not as like a soldier.

Speaker 2234.5s - 235.08s

That makes sense?

Speaker 12235.18s - 235.78s

Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 2235.96s - 237.1s

Kind of like a good manager.

Speaker 12237.26s - 239.12s

You don't have to play baseball all the time.

Speaker 2239.12s - 249.02s

In the modern military, I know they have lots of different jobs, including more, you know, professional-type skills. But all those people still have to go through basic.

Speaker 12249.02s - 253.74s

But they still have to go through, yeah, the beginning rigorous training to get through.

Speaker 2253.82s - 264.84s

So like Elvis PERSON, right, when he had to, you know, go in the draft and everything else. And his job in the military is going to be an entertainer. Why didn't they just say, all right, just go entertain. You don't have to do this.

Speaker 12264.84s - 270.5s

I always wondered that myself. Because there are, yeah, there's musicians in the military.

Speaker 4270.5s - 271.22s

100%.

Speaker 2271.22s - 277.1s

The band players, you know, different, they need to recruit people who play enough different

Speaker 12277.1s - 281.54s

instruments so they can have an entire band together, right, to play the national anthem

Speaker 2281.54s - 294.6s

and other events, important things. Hail to the Chief. Someone needs to do that. They're all members of the military. So why do they have to go through the normal rigor? right to play the national anthem and other events important things hail to the chief someone needs to do that they're all members of the military so why do they have to go through the normal rigors of what the guys they're going to be in front lives i mean i guess eventually if push comes to

Speaker 12294.6s - 299.64s

shove and you're the last one it's like you got to be you got to be ready to fight i just play

Speaker 2299.64s - 309.34s

the trumpet man like they made me come here well listen i don't want to get off on a tangent too much this morning, but that's kind of what four play is for.

Speaker 12309.74s - 311.22s

No Padres game last night.

Speaker 2311.28s - 315.7s

So, yeah, it's going to be a little bit more loose today, but we do have a good show for you.

Speaker 12315.82s - 319.66s

It's a City Connect Friday here on Ben and Woods ORG.

Speaker 2319.8s - 332.16s

Polly PERSON's got the beautiful graphics. Polly PERSON's got his pink shirt on. I've got my City Connect ORG hat on. I did say something to Hannah this morning, and I wonder if you guys agree. Dodgers are coming in town tonight. Yes.

Speaker 4334.32s - 335.62s

Tyler Glass PERSON now is on the bump.

Speaker 2336.32s - 339.24s

He's really good. Really good. They have a really good lineup. They're a good team.

Speaker 3339.72s - 340.24s

I've heard of him.

Speaker 2340.24s - 389.98s

I said to Hannah, I said, you know, as a 48-year-old pasty white guy, I realized that the City Connects were not made for me. I do enjoy this hat. My kids wear them. We match it up. You know, the whole thing. I said, do you find it, if we lost tonight, do you find it more embarrassing when we lose in the City Connects at home on Friday? She said, absolutely 100%. And I said, do you feel like the Dodgers ORG run out onto the field? And they're like, when they look over and they see, you know, Mike Schilt PERSON in the City Connects, when they look over and they see, you know, some of the guys that don't look the best in thecity connect. The Unis. I said, it's's I said you wonder will they keep these forever? She goes I think they'll be here forever. Do you guys agree?

Speaker 12390.94s - 395.58s

I do have that feeling a little bit. I think I was told like these were only the plan at

Speaker 2395.58s - 399.72s

least was city connects were only going to be around for three years

Speaker 12399.72s - 403.4s

ish and then I don't know if they cycle in and get it I mean there are still teams that don't

Speaker 2403.4s - 405.42s

have citynect ORG uniforms.

Speaker 12405.44s - 406.24s

Is that true?

Speaker 2406.4s - 409.3s

Yeah, well, I know they just debuted some new ones this year.

Speaker 12409.36s - 410.3s

The Mets ORG just got theirs.

Speaker 3410.46s - 411.52s

The Rays ORG just got there.

Speaker 2411.52s - 413.24s

They've done like five or six a year?

Speaker 12413.24s - 413.86s

Per year, yeah.

Speaker 3413.98s - 415.52s

So it's kind of slowly cycling through.

Speaker 12415.6s - 420.12s

I do know Podres are 0 and 3 on City Connect Fridays so far this season.

Speaker 3420.2s - 422.3s

Yeah, I mean, they just don't win at night.

Speaker 12422.34s - 423.6s

They don't win at night either.

Speaker 3423.68s - 424.04s

That's true.

Speaker 12424.16s - 428.78s

Night home games are all bad, but they lost their first one to the Giants, 8 to 3.

Speaker 2429.26s - 432.96s

They lost to the Blue Jays 5 to 1, and they lost to the Phillies 9 to 3.

Speaker 12433.1s - 434.62s

So we get bought in the city connects.

Speaker 2434.62s - 439.86s

Three of their worst losses of the season have come on Home City Connect Friday nights.

Speaker 12440.1s - 442.66s

Now, Jeter says Dad Bod looks weird in the City Connect ORG.

Speaker 2442.86s - 450.26s

Yeah, I like this hat. I think I look okay in it. Not great. It's not great on me. It's a good hat.

Speaker 0450.42s - 451.16s

It's a good hat.

Speaker 3451.16s - 467.96s

I like the colors. But let's let's, you know, let's be honest. It is, yeah, Dominic PERSON, this is such a good point. And they always show this guy on NFL ORG broadcast. It's like the guy at the NFL ORG game, all dressed up in a costume. His team loses. And then he has to walk out of the stadium dressed like that. That's not that extreme.

Speaker 12468.1s - 469.88s

But you see the guys in the- Raiders ORG would lose at home.

Speaker 2469.98s - 474.2s

Dr. Death has to walk back out to the parking lot in Oakland and back in the day.

Speaker 5474.2s - 481.72s

Walk out to his Camry PRODUCT, you know, in full riot gear and spikes coming out of him. And people are like, ha, ha, ha, ha.

Speaker 2481.86s - 493.82s

He's lost like 40, dude. What are you doing? So, I don't know, just a little observation I had this morning, but I am reping the City Connect because that's what, you know, I do like the hat. I absolutely like the hat. But I do wonder.

Speaker 3494.14s - 495.56s

It's become part of the fabric now.

Speaker 2495.56s - 502.1s

Of course. Like Friday night City Connects, it feels weird. It would have felt weird to come in with a brown hoodie today or something. Correct, correct.

Speaker 3502.28s - 509.56s

It's City Connect Day. It's City Connect Day. And, you know, I'm going to embrace it as bad. I'm under no mandate, by the way. This is not a

Speaker 2509.56s - 517.9s

mandated. Like Eric Grutner didn't say, you guys better be repping the City Connect PRODUCT because, I mean, clearly you're going to break the rules. You're repping the Army.

Speaker 12518.48s - 526.38s

The Camo. I'm on the Sunday. You're on the Sunday, too. Today. So, yeah. So I do like the lid.

Speaker 4527.62s - 536.06s

But Polly and I, we know from experience when we went out to Fantasy Camp ORG and we put the uniforms on and I looked at myself in the mirror and I started to cry a little bit.

Speaker 12536.22s - 539.98s

Every year at Fantasy Camp, they give us two sets of uniforms for the week.

Speaker 5540.04s - 540.22s

Yeah.

Speaker 12540.54s - 542.7s

And you come in in the morning and find out which game you're playing.

Speaker 3542.7s - 543.72s

Which one you're wearing.

Speaker 2543.78s - 545s

Home or away or whatever.

Speaker 3546.18s - 548.76s

We've had the home pinstrives for grade.

Speaker 2549.18s - 550.8s

The road brown's amazing.

Speaker 13550.8s - 562.12s

Yeah. And this year, back in January, we had the City Connects PRODUCT and the military camo, neither of which made any of the overweight old white guys look good at all.

Speaker 2562.34s - 579.64s

I went on the first City Connected PRODUCT. I put the uni on and I went into the mirror and I looked at myself in the all. I went on the first city connected, I put the uni on, and I went into the mirror, and I looked at myself in the mirror, and I went, I looked like a, I looked like a fat, plump candycane, and I said, it's not good, man. It's not good at all, dude. And I,

Speaker 13580.02s - 598.38s

no photos today. I remember walking out to the field, like, ugh. It's like, it reminded me of like, well my dad used to make me wear like, I'm not buying you new pants. I got some old softball pants. Dad, my jersey's green. These are blue and orange. I don't want to wear these. Well, we're not, we don't have time to go to the store. Put these on.

Speaker 2598.82s - 653.9s

Like, oh, walking out to the field, dude. So, no, listen, I would like to get a, dude. So, no, listen, I would like to get a, I'd like to get a win in these, in these unies tonight. That's why I wore it, just in case. Tall order, though, certainly going up against Trevor Glass PERSON now, but. Or Tyler.I'm sorry. Tyler Glass PERSON now. Not Trevor Glass PERSON now. That's, he doesn't exist as far as I know. He's a very, unfortunately. He's a very likable guy. I did watch a couple of clips with him yesterday on Eric Hosmer's PERSON Instagram. And I watched the interview with him, and I went, he's so likable. He's just a likable guy. I mean, I hope he gets his S rocked tonight. But I was like, God, they used to sign guys that you would hate. And you're like, oh, good. He's on their team. I hate that guy. And now they're signing all these nice guys. And you're like, I'm kind of like, mookie. And how do you get mad at Chilveh PERSON? And now they got Tyler Glass PERSON now.

Speaker 13654.04s - 655.84s

I'm like, this really sucks, man.

Speaker 12656.3s - 658.86s

This really, really sucks. It was always their kryptonite.

Speaker 2659.1s - 675.74s

They may be good, but, man, they really were easy to dislike. Yes, yes. It's getting a little harder to do so. Yeah, I know, Matthew PERSON. I was on Eric Cosmer's Instagram ORG. As I said before, he's putting out good content.I don't know what you want me to say. The content I'm watching is, I'm going,

Speaker 12675.9s - 678.94s

I don't know, I'm going, let's all the stuff Zander Bogartz PERSON is putting out in about nine years.

Speaker 2678.94s - 690.96s

It's frustrating us. Oh, my Lord. We've got a big day here on Ben and Woods ORG, certainly. We've got a big announcement coming up at what time are we doing that?

Speaker 13691.06s - 693.4s

7 a.m. We'll have some details for it.

Speaker 2693.4s - 697.6s

On the third annual-ish, Benin Woods Open.

Speaker 12697.94s - 699.6s

Today is National Golf Day.

Speaker 2699.76s - 710.3s

So we planned it just like this to make sure that we were making our big announcement on National Golf Day. Yeah. Yeah, it's exactly, we didn't plan that at all.

Speaker 12710.4s - 713.2s

No, we woke up this morning and found out the National Golf Day.

Speaker 3713.2s - 714.12s

Yeah, that's exactly right.

Speaker 2714.24s - 715.64s

Dude, I don't know about you guys.

Speaker 3717.32s - 724.32s

All day yesterday, I could not stop getting the harp sound that we played out of my head.

Speaker 4724.66s - 726.84s

All day. All day. All day. stop getting the harp sound that we played out of my hand all day don't be don't be don't be

Speaker 2726.84s - 735.46s

all day yep ten times just kept thinking about it was driving my wife insane she's like stop

Speaker 12735.46s - 739.82s

I'm like it was so funny were you playing it or doing it with your mouth with my mouth

Speaker 4739.82s - 745.58s

me too if I had one I would have played it. I need one.

Speaker 3745.88s - 746.22s

You do?

Speaker 12746.76s - 747.26s

Yeah.

Speaker 3747.5s - 748.34s

I told us said that yesterday.

Speaker 4748.34s - 749.4s

You actually want one.

Speaker 3749.64s - 750.52s

I don't want one.

Speaker 4751.02s - 752.02s

You got one?

Speaker 3752.18s - 753.34s

You son of a bitch.

Speaker 4754.1s - 754.76s

Look at you.

Speaker 3755.76s - 756.72s

How long did you get this?

Speaker 2756.72s - 761.14s

Through the magic of modern delivery services, we got Woods PERSON.

Speaker 3761.24s - 762.56s

Oh, you got me one.

Speaker 2762.76s - 765.56s

That same day delivery on Amazon ORG is a real thing.

Speaker 12765.6s - 766.86s

Do you don't have any idea how to play?

Speaker 2766.9s - 768.72s

Yeah, I've played one before, but it's a long time.

Speaker 3769.04s - 769.22s

It does.

Speaker 12769.22s - 771.04s

It does.

Speaker 3771.12s - 772.08s

So Woods PERSON has opened it up.

Speaker 12772.18s - 772.8s

I think I know.

Speaker 3774.1s - 775.32s

He's got it in his mouth.

Speaker 2775.5s - 780.2s

It looks like some sort of key to a weird locker or something.

Speaker 3788.18s - 788.62s

Ow! Oh, bang. Ow,

Speaker 12788.62s - 790.12s

my teeth.

Speaker 4790.12s - 790.9s

Oh, I heard that.

Speaker 2791.12s - 792.38s

Oh, I felt that.

Speaker 4792.86s - 803.14s

That sounded bad. I think I just chipped my tooth. I felt that. Oh, my God.

Speaker 2803.16s - 804.2s

This is the greatest day of my life.

Speaker 4804.3s - 809.84s

Thank you, guys.

Speaker 2813.5s - 817.66s

This point, like, slaps against your lip?

Speaker 13820.34s - 821.48s

Don't break it in the first five minutes.

Speaker 2823.72s - 823.84s

We spent good show funds on that.

Speaker 4825.76s - 826.64s

You guys are the absolute goats.

Speaker 12828.12s - 828.22s

The goats. I love you.

Speaker 13828.7s - 830.04s

Thank you.

Speaker 4831.28s - 835.72s

I'm so happy right now. We did that right around this time yesterday, and you said, I want one.

Speaker 13835.76s - 836.76s

God, I want one of those.

Speaker 4836.88s - 845.5s

Hannah, Bo, Taylor, we're very sorry that he's coming home with his own mouth harp that he can practice all weekend long.

Speaker 13845.62s - 846.78s

This is unreal.

Speaker 12848.46s - 849.28s

What did you get this?

Speaker 13849.4s - 849.72s

Amazon ORG?

Speaker 12849.86s - 850.34s

Yeah.

Speaker 13851.1s - 852.04s

God, they are brilliant.

Speaker 2852.24s - 853.06s

Same day's shipping.

Speaker 3853.06s - 854.06s

Same day shipping.

Speaker 2854.24s - 855.44s

The next thing you know, I got...

Speaker 13855.44s - 856.44s

Polly PERSON sent it to my house.

Speaker 2856.52s - 857.02s

I got home.

Speaker 13857.12s - 857.72s

It was right there.

Speaker 3857.86s - 858.12s

It's a dude.

Speaker 13858.12s - 858.7s

All right.

Speaker 2858.8s - 859.46s

I got...

Speaker 13859.46s - 861.1s

Get anything in a day now.

Speaker 3863.2s - 868.42s

I mean, can you imagine in the old days? I'm so happy, you'd be driving around like, I don't know, do you think

Speaker 2868.42s - 869.9s

guitar center has one?

Speaker 13870.1s - 874.24s

And you drive out to La Mesa GPE and you get there and they go, no, we don't have one of those.

Speaker 2874.24s - 875.88s

Bro, it's up 1865.

Speaker 12876.26s - 880.16s

Try, uh, try, uh, try music warehouse down in, uh, in, uh, in convoy.

Speaker 2880.16s - 880.56s

Yeah.

Speaker 12881.12s - 884.64s

There you're heading to Kearney Mesa GPE and you go, I don't know, do you think we can find this

Speaker 3884.64s - 884.94s

thing?

Speaker 2885.5s - 886.9s

You guys rule so hard.

Speaker 12886.96s - 889.24s

I had no idea I was getting this treat this morning.

Speaker 2889.84s - 892.06s

Somebody yesterday murdered me.

Speaker 12892.16s - 892.72s

They tweeted me.

Speaker 2892.8s - 893.46s

They said something.

Speaker 12893.66s - 897.74s

They said chills when Woods PERSON plays the national anthem on the juice are

Speaker 3897.74s - 900.32s

before game one in the World Series.

Speaker 12900.78s - 900.94s

All right.

Speaker 3900.94s - 901.28s

Let me try.

Speaker 12908.24s - 908.32s

You're pretty good. Not bad. Not bad. me try. You're pretty good.

Speaker 0908.72s - 908.86s

Not bad.

Speaker 2912.9s - 913.06s

You're changing the tone of it, that's for sure.

Speaker 0913.9s - 915.4s

Surprisingly really good. That is the tune.

Speaker 13916.06s - 919.76s

I am so, Steve PERSON wants to know why can't the didgeridoo get some attention.

Speaker 12919.9s - 921.08s

We have one at my home.

Speaker 13921.72s - 923.5s

It's like six feet tall, dude.

Speaker 12923.94s - 925.98s

I can't like to drag the didger review in. That would

Speaker 13925.98s - 928.1s

have probably been extra shipping. This one was

Speaker 12928.1s - 929.8s

free shipping we got, so.

Speaker 2932.76s - 934.16s

How does he make it sound

Speaker 12934.16s - 936.5s

so rich and deep, though? You're kind of

Speaker 2936.5s - 937.34s

twangy and

Speaker 13937.34s - 939.84s

It's the teeth.

Speaker 2940.56s - 941.88s

Normally I say avoid the teeth.

Speaker 13942.2s - 942.86s

It just comes natural.

Speaker 2952.8s - 954.66s

You hand us one of these and it's over.

Speaker 13955.66s - 955.98s

All right.

Speaker 5956.02s - 958.6s

Well, we're not San Diego's number one morning show for nothing.

Speaker 2958.68s - 959.26s

That was amazing.

Speaker 4959.26s - 961.62s

All right, let's get going here on a Friday.

Speaker 2961.78s - 962.7s

I'm so happy.

Speaker 21108.06s - 1109.54s

I'm not going to you. It hurts my lip.

Speaker 121110.32s - 1116.22s

I was also worried. I'm not going to. I'm going to be playing at the entire show. You seem so thrilled. I'm so happy.

Speaker 21116.32s - 1120.52s

You guys are so thoughtful. Thank you. You're welcome. Getting your own harp. Not even my birthday.

Speaker 121120.96s - 1132.16s

I'm gearing up today. Friday. Always, you know, tired by the end of the week. Long schedule. We get up early in the morning. I'm going to the game tonight, though. So I am trying to

Speaker 21132.16s - 1157.78s

make sure I save some energy. Yeah, probably will have to take an hour or so in the afternoon to recharge the batteries to get downtown tonight. Looking forward to it. I know there's going to be some Dodgers ORG fans there, but I can handle that. I don't think I'm going to get into a big fist fight with anyone. Hopefully everyone has a good time. And hopefully the Padres ORG can come away with a win. If they take today's game, boy, you feel good.

Speaker 121158.22s - 1226.04s

You feel really, really good about what they were able to do already this week. We started the week going, yeah, we'll take three and three. We all raised our hands. Would you take three and three at Wrigley Field and three at home against the Dodgers ORG?And all of us said, yes, absolutely. Just tread some water this week. Well, they're two and one. Now is when you start wanting to get a little bit greedy and see if you can take another series against the Dodgers ORG. This is their first visit to Petco Park this season. You split the two in Korea GPE. You took two or three from the Dodgers last month at Dodgers Stadium FAC. Can you do it again and turn this into one of the most successful weeks of the season for your San Diego Padres ORG? This one, you'll get it's Tyler Glass PERSON now. You're the underdog. I haven't looked at the odds, but I'm imagining the Padres ORG.You're the underdog in this game. But there's no reason you can't steal it. You had a chance against Shota Imanaga PERSON. You'll let that one get away. Could have stolen that one. Do the same thing tonight.Keep it close. Give yourself an opportunity. The Dodgers ORG bullpen is a bit depleted. You mentioned it yesterday, I think, on the roundtable. Evan Phillips is out. Joe Kelly PERSON.

Speaker 21226.04s - 1242.12s

Joe Kelly PERSON is on the injured list as well. So, you know, it's not that they don't have replacements. They do, but it's not running at full strength at the moment. So keep it close. Give yourself a chance to win a game late. I would love to seethis Padres ORG team. They've done a lot of things

Speaker 121242.12s - 1263.7s

already that we didn't see last year's team. They got their four-game winning streak. They've had some rallies from early deficits to win games. It's just been a different feeling. They're hitting much better with runners in scoring position. Have not seen a walk-off yet for your San Diego Padres ORG. They have not won a game walk-off style in 2024, I believe.

Speaker 21263.84s - 1264.84s

I would like that very much.

Speaker 121264.84s - 1277.68s

And I would like to see that. Tonight, if possible, this weekend, at least at some point, you're due for one of those. I mean, even last year, as bad as it was, they had that early one when Hassan Kim PERSON hit the walk-off home run. I think it was DavidDahl and Hassan Kim

Speaker 21277.68s - 1279.84s

back to back. April 8th or something.

Speaker 121279.84s - 1283.68s

And then they didn't have another one for like five and a half months. But

Speaker 21283.68s - 1298.98s

they have not done that this season. So how about tonight? You keep it close, tied, whatever, within a run somewhere in the last inning or two, and walk off the Dodgers and send everyone who, you know, made that drive all the way down to try to get into Petco Park FAC,

Speaker 121299.1s - 1302.72s

make them drive all the way back up, really unhappy after they see their team lose tonight.

Speaker 21302.72s - 1308.44s

Yeah, I mean, Michael King needs to keep the ball in the yard tonight, you know, and I know,

Speaker 121308.5s - 1310.4s

mostly, I mean, he needs to keep the ball in the yard.

Speaker 21310.5s - 1313.24s

He's going to give up, they hit four bombs off at Dodger Stadium FAC.

Speaker 121313.42s - 1318.26s

I mean, if they hit a solo shot, you know, fine, one, you know, two at the most.

Speaker 21318.4s - 1361.6s

But if you give up three homers and two of them have runners on base, you're going to lose. Yeah, it's going to be rough. I mean, and again, you know, we've said it before. If you can get through a mookie, who, that feels good. Oh, then you got Freddie Freeman PERSON. Oh, got through him.Oh, and then here come Shoahe Otani PERSON. Then Will Smith PERSON. And then Max Muncie, who again, Max Muncie is a noted, noted Padres ORG killer. I just feel like every time he steps the play. He may make me more nervous than anybody on that team. I just always feel like he's going to do damage against the Padres ORG.Every time he sets foot in the box. True. You know, there's some... Hey, Oscar Hernandez is having a monster year for them. Their lineup is deep. It is tough to get through. But, listen, man, let the chips fall where they may. Our lineup's pretty good, too.

Speaker 121362.14s - 1367.74s

Kiki in the chat says, I've got money. Ben PERSON can low-key throw hands. Kiki, that is the worst bet you've ever made.

Speaker 21367.74s - 1370.92s

Probably going to lose in that.

Speaker 121371.98s - 1374.08s

Scratch fight. Slap scratch.

Speaker 21374.74s - 1376.08s

Is it more of a slap scratch combo?

Speaker 121376.08s - 1378.1s

I rely simply on my

Speaker 21378.1s - 1380.28s

intimidating size to stay

Speaker 121380.28s - 1382s

out of fights. Can I give you a tip? In case

Speaker 21382s - 1383.98s

it ever happens. Okay. Ball your fist up

Speaker 121383.98s - 1385.12s

like this.

Speaker 21390.84s - 1390.9s

And then go down as far as you can go and just use it like a club against the side of somebody's head.

Speaker 121391.92s - 1393.12s

Now, you may kill them.

Speaker 21394.64s - 1395.04s

Don't try to. No, no.

Speaker 121395.1s - 1396.06s

I never try that.

Speaker 21396.24s - 1397.58s

Just or on top.

Speaker 121397.62s - 1401.32s

I always like with my brother when we get into fights.

Speaker 21401.32s - 1404.96s

My younger brother, I just try to end up sitting on him at some point.

Speaker 121406.1s - 1408.24s

That would be the better. Because he was much smaller. I'm not a fighter. He's

Speaker 21408.24s - 1431.7s

faster. He's nimble. I just had size, not really strength or agility, but if I could get him under me, and he had no chance. Just use your weight on. Yeah, just fall on top of him, andthen he's done. So that's really my only strategy. Get him to the ground, get on top of them, and sit on them. Well, in a street fighters, I mean my only strategy. Get them to the ground, get them to the ground, get on top of them and sit on them. Well, in a street fighters, I mean use your thumbs, gouge the eyes, do whatever you've got to do. Get nasty.

Speaker 121431.94s - 1433.82s

And just use your fist, your big,

Speaker 21433.82s - 1435.82s

meaty fists as like clubs. I mean, who am I fighting

Speaker 121435.82s - 1437.96s

tonight? Dave Roberts PERSON? Is it, are we throwing

Speaker 21437.96s - 1440.12s

down, perhaps? We know that would never happen.

Speaker 121440.5s - 1441.78s

Seems unlikely, but

Speaker 21441.78s - 1444s

you do a great job. Yeah, I'm not

Speaker 131444s - 1445.78s

taking any betting tips from Kiki.

Speaker 121446.4s - 1446.74s

Okay.

Speaker 21447.38s - 1447.94s

I got money.

Speaker 131448.12s - 1449.2s

Ben PERSON can low-key throw hands.

Speaker 121449.2s - 1476.18s

Yeah, no doubt. For the San Diego Padres ORG.

Speaker 21519.18s - 1520.04s

Speaker 121546.94s - 1558.68s

Tony Gwynn Jr. PERSON likes me. I'm not sure if he does. It's fair question. Thank you. It's coming up next. Very fair.On San Diego's number one sports station, 973 PRODUCT, the fan.

Just talking about the farmer's dog during the break and my dogs, and I've got in front of me the giveaway for Tuesday, the Joe Musgrove and Theo, Bobblehead. And I have to say, this may be the most detailed bobblehead I have ever seen. I mean, you look at Joe PERSON here. And just from top to bottom, he's got his last year giveaway bucket hat on.He's got his Joe Musgrove PERSON shades. He's holding his coffee from Cafe Odesso ORG. He has his tattoos here on his left arm, shoulder. They are detailed right as well. He's wearing his Joe Musgrove PERSON basketball shirt giveaway. That's laterthis season, I believe. We haven't even seen that one yet. We're going to look good in those. He's got his dog. Both him and Theo PERSON. Bobble. Bobblehead. The only thingthat's missing is like that big stack of pancakes he eats from Sequon ORG. And that's about, like, everything else is included in this very, really cool.

Speaker 21710.4s - 1713.08s

Very cool and detailed Joe Musgrove PERSON.

Speaker 31713.08s - 1715.04s

And as much as a bobblehead can look like somebody.

Speaker 121715.18s - 1716.62s

It looks like pretty good job.

Speaker 21716.76s - 1722s

It does look like Joe PERSON. I mean, it's not like, oh, I don't know. No, no, it's definitely.

Speaker 31722.32s - 1722.88s

I can't tell you that.

Speaker 121722.92s - 1725.44s

Ha-sung Kim or Joe Muskrofe PERSON.

Speaker 21725.78s - 1731.54s

That's one that we definitely got to get into the collection at home. The kids will absolutely adore that one.

Speaker 121731.54s - 1756.42s

That is Tuesday. First 40,000 fans in attendance will receive the Joe Musgrove Bobblehead with his dog Theo, presented by Petco ORG. It's the second of five bobbleheads this year. If you're trying to collect them all, again, first 40,000, so plan to arrive early and go to ponderays.com ORG slash giveaways to get more details on that one. But in terms of the bobbleheads, and I said yesterday during the roundtable, I'm not

Speaker 21756.42s - 1764.8s

collector guy, but this one is pretty cool for sure if you are. Yeah, I like that segment that you had, that you mixed in.

Speaker 121764.8s - 1783.34s

Yeah, let me quickly ask, because Polly PERSON didn't get to chime in because he's not part of it. So the question for our seventh inning stretch during the roundtable is, what was your all-time favorite giveaway or promotion at a ballpark? Something that you got during the gates or something. This could be from your childhood, you know, go to a Mariners game or something.

Speaker 31783.58s - 1787.12s

It was probably the first giveaway I ever got. I was probably, I think, five years old.

Speaker 21787.62s - 1789.98s

A little sweet Polly PERSON, a little five-year-old Polly.

Speaker 31790.18s - 1793s

I don't know if they did it everywhere, if this was just something at the Kingdom FAC,

Speaker 121793.42s - 1794.54s

is where I went to.

Speaker 21795.44s - 1799.48s

They would just put the giveaways on the seats instead of when you walked in.

Speaker 31799.52s - 1800.3s

And it was there for you.

Speaker 21800.36s - 1802.56s

And there was just 40,000 giveaway.

Speaker 31802.64s - 1803.76s

What a nightmare of a job.

Speaker 21803.84s - 1806.06s

I'm like, well, does somebody just go down a whole road?

Speaker 31806.48s - 1807.62s

That's exactly what they did.

Speaker 21807.66s - 1812.08s

Yeah. Anyways, walked up to our seats, and it was Ken Griffey Jr. PERSON Bat Night, but they gave

Speaker 01812.08s - 1814.5s

out the full-sized wood bat.

Speaker 21814.76s - 1817.38s

It was my favorite thing ever.

Speaker 01817.5s - 1819.84s

It was not like the, it was not a miniature

Speaker 21819.84s - 1821.94s

bat. It wasn't a souvenir. I mean,

Speaker 01821.94s - 1823.36s

it was a souvenir, but it was a wood bat.

Speaker 31823.56s - 1830.18s

You could, you could hit it, which I ended up doing because I was five years old. Yeah. She did't a souvenir. I mean, it was a souvenir, but it was a wood bat. Like, you could, you could hit it, which I ended up doing because I was five years old. She did switchblades tonight.

Speaker 41831.4s - 1833.4s

Mani Machado, Sequan Casino ORG,

Speaker 31833.72s - 1834.9s

brass knuckles. Brass knuckles.

Speaker 121835.64s - 1835.96s

Solid.

Speaker 31836.32s - 1837.88s

It's, yeah, nowadays,

Speaker 121838.34s - 1863.54s

you obviously, you get your prize as you walk through the gates, usually. But I have noticed, like, at NBA ORG, like playoff games, and every section, like, there's the white t-shirt section and the blue t-shirt section. They do that by putting shirts on the seats before the game.So when you arrive, you put on your shirt, and it looks really cool on TV when each section is like color-coordinated and coated, and they do that by just, you know, having it's set up.

Speaker 01863.54s - 1867.5s

Maybe the Padres ORG could do that sometime with some sort of shirt giveaway where it's bisection

Speaker 51867.5s - 1872.88s

and you get a white one and a brown one and like alternates throughout the entire Petco Park FAC.

Speaker 01872.98s - 1877.52s

You know, the seals messed up when we had our first playoff game, which was a couple

Speaker 21877.52s - 1901.42s

Fridays ago, we had the rally towels. And so the place was going nuts, waving the towels. The next game we had, we gave away bucket hats. And so I'm trying to get the, it was the easy way to get them around them. Wave those towels. And the place were, oh, go crazy.Playoffs, you got to give something that makes noise or that you can move around and it looks, you know, the place goes nuts. It looks pretty cool. But, yeah, you don't want to wave your bobbleheads around. You want to keep those.

Speaker 121901.42s - 1904.72s

What was your choice of your favorite promotional item?

Speaker 21904.78s - 1910.1s

Oh, I loved the poncho. Oh, Pancho,3, the fan poncho. I'm also a company man.

Speaker 121910.46s - 1914.72s

Tony PERSON, who mentioned the helmets that had the little plastic insert?

Speaker 21914.72s - 1923.9s

Yeah, that would, yeah, that would, I mean, it hurt those. Well, if you took the plastic thing out and put it on, it was like four nails in the top of your head. It was a torture device.

Speaker 121924.52s - 1925.08s

It was, my buddy, we used to take them out because it wouldn't fit us. And he'd b of your head it was a torture device it was my buddy

Speaker 21925.08s - 1929.18s

we used to take them out because it wouldn't fit us right and he'd bop your buddy on the head and you're

Speaker 121929.18s - 1935.42s

like ah you're done you're done no it was it was a fun roundtable yesterday it really was and it gets a little

Speaker 21935.42s - 1940.2s

spirited in there polly please read that comment okay i yesterday so you're watching to know what

Speaker 121940.2s - 1946.38s

happened because i missed part of the roundtable yesterday and

Speaker 31946.38s - 1948.24s

somebody commented on

Speaker 21948.24s - 1950.18s

let's give them the credit they deserve

Speaker 31950.18s - 1959.2s

I can't I don't think I can say their name Woods PERSON is checking

Speaker 121959.2s - 1959.68s

I don't want to

Speaker 31959.68s - 1966s

I don't want to say it wrong you got it oh now he's his glasses.

Speaker 121966s - 1967.04s

He's running over.

Speaker 31968.52s - 1972.36s

Oh. There's an F and a K.

Speaker 121973.32s - 1974.68s

Odomy 628.

Speaker 31974.68s - 1975.24s

And a U.

Speaker 121975.24s - 1979.46s

Anyways, the comment is, Woods PERSON is such a pick-me girl, LOL.

Speaker 31980.02s - 1992.64s

Why you got a rag on Benny just to get a laugh out of Tony PERSON S-M-H? That means shaking my head. And then he writes under that, Tony's also got a rag on Benny? Okay. Just to get a laugh out of Tony, SMH. That means shaking my head. Right. And then he writes under that, Tony's also got a weird little hatred towards Ben PERSON, which is kind of wild.

Speaker 21992.82s - 2023.84s

So we were having the discussion about, and we will have this discussion with the skipper, Mike Schilt PERSON. It's like, you know, this is something we want to know about. We talked about it ad nauseam this week, Taking jerks and pro far out for a defensive replacement. His order, you know, spot in the order came up. Jackson Merrill PERSON, very qualified hitter, as we know, but you want your hottest hitter jerks and pro far taking those swings there. And you made the case. I understand it's kind of splitting hairs, but if there's still

Speaker 122023.84s - 2026.12s

a chance that Jerkson PERSON's going to get up,

Speaker 02026.16s - 2039.44s

and you're only up by a run or two, is the advantage of the better defense. And I'm not sure how much better it is. I will acknowledge that Azokar PERSON, at least, is a better defender. Tony PERSON said it's pretty, it's pretty...

Speaker 22039.44s - 2043.5s

He thought it was pretty a wider gap. A wider gap than maybe we do.

Speaker 122043.5s - 2046.78s

But in the case of the game with Jackson Merrill went in, Azokar PERSON was already in.

Speaker 02046.86s - 2049.94s

He moved over to left and Merrill PERSON went into center.

Speaker 22050.18s - 2054.3s

And while Merrill PERSON's done a great job and he's got speed, not an experienced defender,

Speaker 02054.38s - 2060.18s

not as experienced as Jurexon Profar PERSON was. And I just thought, I don't understand this strategic decision.

Speaker 22060.4s - 2075.32s

So why I went, pick me, girl, is that Ben said, but you leave Manny PERSON in and you leave Fernando Tatis in, and I go, whoa, whoa, whoa, of course you do. That's two of the best defenders, and you probably just pick two random names.

Speaker 122075.5s - 2077.1s

I pick two good offensive players.

Speaker 22077.1s - 2097.9s

Correct. Like, you leave your offensive players in. You were absolutely correct that you would never take either of those guys out. I mean, if for some reason they weren't in, you might put them in for defense at the end of the game just because they are such good defenders. So I didn't, and I wasn't trying to impress Tony, per se, but I did call Benny PERSON out for that in the deal.

Speaker 122097.9s - 2104.24s

And I, you know, I feel like maybe Tony's just not used to the Ben Higgins PERSON experience.

Speaker 22104.54s - 2109.32s

And there is a bit of eye-rolling that comes along with just doing a show with me.

Speaker 122109.32s - 2109.56s

Never.

Speaker 02109.98s - 2121.58s

I understand. It happens from time to time. And Tony PERSON just seemed a little worn out by it. Maybe it was having to get up in the morning and be there, but I would make a comment, and I'd look over and talk to kind of do the old,

Speaker 22122.22s - 2125.4s

lean back in his chair or just kind of his eyes.

Speaker 122125.56s - 2127.12s

Let me ask you a question.

Speaker 22127.26s - 2128.36s

Come get on the couch.

Speaker 122128.88s - 2129.48s

Lay down.

Speaker 22129.94s - 2152.36s

Okay. Just relax. I've done the same thing to you many times. I'll sit back in my chair. Roll my head back. Right.Roll my eyes. Doesn't really seem to bother. Not at all. Yes. Does it hurt? It hurts a. Not at all. Yes. Does it hurt? It hurts a little more from him. Yes. Of course. You're not wrong. It's not your fault.

Speaker 122158.04s - 2163.82s

You're not wrong at all. Do I crave Tony Gwynn Jr's approval more than yours? Yes. Yes, I do. 100%. Yes, I do. Growing up, a Padres ORG fan in your entire life, who was your favorite player?

Speaker 22164.06s - 2177.78s

That would be Tony Gwynn Sr PERSON. And it hurts real bad when Tony Gwen's son, Tony Gwynn Jr. PERSON, may think that you don't know ball. Exactly. It stings, like, maybe to your core.

Speaker 122177.78s - 2178.54s

A little bit, yeah.

Speaker 22178.56s - 2180.76s

Maybe stings you more than anything else.

Speaker 122180.76s - 2191.72s

Stings you. Like, why am I working with this idiot? Does hurt a little bit. He, I love. And I'm never going to win that fight. He knows more ball than I do.

Speaker 32191.88s - 2193.66s

Oh, yeah, he knows more than all of us combined.

Speaker 122194.62s - 2195.86s

He's forgotten more about me.

Speaker 32195.86s - 2196.66s

Of course.

Speaker 22196.66s - 2197.3s

Of course.

Speaker 122198.48s - 2200.24s

Than all of us have ever, you know.

Speaker 22200.68s - 2208.62s

But here's the interesting thing. And this is why I think you're okay. He rolls his eyes at Chris Lowe PERSON. He rolls his eyes at Craig Osteen PERSON.

Speaker 122208.62s - 2210.24s

Chris PERSON knows ball played in college.

Speaker 22210.98s - 2221.38s

I mean, is as knowledgeable about the game as anyone that I know. So he rolls his eyes at Craig Elston PERSON. He rolls his eyes at me. He rolls his eyes at Annie PERSON. He rolls his eyes at...

Speaker 32221.38s - 2228.54s

Scravey PERSON, I'm sure, all the time. Oh, my God, I'm sure. Probably doesn't roll his eyes at Adam PERSON. Sorry.

Speaker 22230.04s - 2233.44s

Probably never. Never, ever. I wonder if Adam PERSON...

Speaker 122233.44s - 2235.06s

I think Adam's scared of Tony PERSON, too.

Speaker 22235.16s - 2243.86s

I wonder if Adam PERSON also texts Tony Gwynn Jr. The proper bullpen usage of the San Diego Padres ORG. I bet not. I wonder if he does.

Speaker 122243.86s - 2259.18s

Hey, Tony, would you have gone with Estrada PERSON there, or shouldn't he have gone with so-and-so? Is it extra sweet because it's against the Dodgers ORG? So, no, he, he's so good to have on the round table because he's so smart.

Speaker 22259.26s - 2313.38s

So I asked him, I grabbed him after. Yeah, that's a little bit picked me too, but I like talking, hitting with him, because why wouldn't you? And I straight up asked him. I said, what's what are you seeing from Zander PERSON? And he said, it's, in my opinion, he said, frombeing around him, knowing him a little bit, he goes, it's mental. And we talked about the pitch the night before, the 3-1, he goes, that's the same thing I thought, you take that pitch right there, it means you're not right. It means you're not right. Your head's not right. You can't pitch right there. It means you're not right.Your head's not right. You can't pull the trigger. And when you're worried about your swing and you worry about your leg kick, he goes, you're not going to be successful. And I said, what does it take to get out of it? He goes, hitting rock bottom. And I go, is there worse he can do? He goes, yeah, because he got a couple knocks and you start to feel like, okay, maybe I'm coming out of it. But you kind of know in the back of your head that you're not. You kind of know, even if you luck into a couple of hits, he said, he'll get going, but he's going to have to hit the bottom.

Speaker 32313.38s - 2315.18s

There's getting a knock and then there's a lot.

Speaker 22315.46s - 2319s

There's getting a knock and being like, oh, God, I was so lucky to get that knock.

Speaker 122319.06s - 2320.16s

We have to check traffic.

Speaker 32320.26s - 2330.5s

Does this relate at all to the story that Yonder Alonzo told on MLB Network yesterday about Tony Gwynn PERSON and the advice?

Speaker 122330.6s - 2333.92s

I think it kind of does. I want to play that. Can we play that?

Speaker 22333.92s - 2336.2s

We can. We can do it for Do Do You Do This WORK_OF_ART?

Speaker 122336.62s - 2338.72s

We can wait, yeah, if we want and do it for Do Do This WORK_OF_ART.

Speaker 22338.72s - 2356.24s

Probably leaves a load it. All right. We'll have Polly PERSON loaded up. We'll play it. But Yonder told a story basically about when he was feeling rock bottom early in his career, and Tony Gwynn PERSON, as a broadcaster, gave him a little bit of advice that you might think is a little strange for a great hitter to tell another

Speaker 122356.24s - 2360.02s

major league baseball player. I absolutely thought it was a weird story.

Speaker 22360.12s - 2363.52s

But let's play that and do do this a little bit later. We're going to check traffic. We'll

Speaker 122363.52s - 2393.94s

come back. I'll give you some of the matchups for the upcoming series against the Dodgers ORG. Looking ahead to tonight through Sunday. Coming up next year on 973, The Fan ORG. Paul actually found it, so we're going to get to it in just a second here. But yesterday there was a lot of talk about Tony Gwynn PERSON. It was his 64th birthday, or would have been his 64th birthday. There were many segments on MLB Network ORG about him. I was looking up this morning and I saw Tony Jr. and Chris Gwynn PERSON. I heard him on, I had him on the phone yesterday, Chris Gwynn PERSON.

Speaker 22394.1s - 2397.32s

We had Andy Ashby's great story about him yesterday at the end of the show.

Speaker 122397.32s - 2459.76s

I replayed part of one of my favorite stories I ever did with Tony for Channel 10 ORG. It was right before he went into the Hall of Fame ORG. We were doing a lot of special coverage in the week leading up to it. And we had gone through our tape archives. And finally, I found the tape from July of 1982, the day Tony PERSON made his major league debut. And this was not like nowadays, wherever he had bad as on television and Chronicle ORG. That game wasn't on TV.But we had a photographer there. It was just randomly shooting the game. And we had the video of his first major league hit. And Tony PERSON, I found out, had never seen his own first major league hit in his life. It's so rad. And on the week that, you know, he was headed to Cooperstown GPE, I went to his office atSan Diego State ORG. We set up a television, brought it, you know, I think it was on a VHS at that point, and popped it in. I said, all right, we're going to mic you up, put you on camera. I want you to react to seeing this for the first time. And you can see, he got kind of emotional. He was watching it.

Speaker 02459.76s - 2460.3s

Damn, dude.

Speaker 42460.34s - 2489.12s

It was Bob Dreeneer PERSON, was it, dove and almost caught it. And it got just by him and ended up being a double. And you see him pulling the second and the famous story, there's Pete Rose right there at second base as he getting there. And the story goes that Pete said, don't catch me in one night kid as he hits second base. And you could see them obviously having a little interaction out there on second base. And Tony talked about the story and getting his first major league hit back in July of 1982.

Speaker 22489.42s - 2494.46s

It was one of my favorite stories I ever got to do with Tony PERSON. That is incredible.

Speaker 122495.1s - 2506.74s

So, all right. So yesterday they were talking about it on MLB Network and Yonder Alonzo, who was a padre after Tony PERSON was done with his career, but he was still doing broadcasting for TV and did some radio as well.

Speaker 32507.58s - 2510.72s

And Yonder was in a slump. I'll let him tell the story here, Polly PERSON.

Speaker 02511.62s - 2516.02s

Yes, here we go.

Speaker 32516.56s - 2521.28s

I'm a rookie. I'm first time going to that stadium. I'm two for 28.

Speaker 112522.02s - 2524.18s

And at the time, he was doing the play-by-play.

Speaker 32524.6s - 2526.46s

After the game, he's waiting for me in my locker.

Speaker 112526.9s - 2560.76s

And he says, meet me tomorrow at 11 in the morning. We had another 7 o'clock game. 11 in the morning. Call my dad and tell him, hey, Tony PERSON wants to talk to me. He says, well, the only one that can fix your swing is Tony PERSON. So hopefully he's got something to say.I get there at 11 in the morning. He's already there with a bat and batting gloves. And he says to me, let's go to the dugout. I go to the dugout. I get dressed. I'm with my bat, my batting glove. He takes me to the home plate. And he says to me, nobody in this stadium today, 55,000 people are going to know this. I need you to go again. What's the difference? I need you to go 0 for 4 again. Nobody's going

Speaker 02560.76s - 2564.7s

to know, but you're going to do it the right way. I'm tired of you hooking balls. I'm tired of you

Speaker 122564.7s - 2565.56s

breaking bats. I'm trying to be striking out balls. I'm tired of you breaking bats.

Speaker 02565.64s - 2575.8s

I'm trying to be striking out and I'm staying on the curb ball or the change. I needed you to hit it. First at bat, a ground bottle to short. Second of bat, a fly ball to left. And hopefully you can get blown up. And the reason I'm telling you is, blown up.

Speaker 42575.94s - 2579.22s

Blown up, meaning jam, hit the ball.

Speaker 112579.3s - 2580.74s

He wants you to break your bat.

Speaker 42580.82s - 2625.4s

He wanted that. And the reason for it is he says, you've already wasted 24 abats, doing it wrong. At least let's do it right to hopefully get you going for the later weeks that are ahead. And what he was trying to do was kind of calm me down a little bit, anxiety, bring it down a notch, and be able to enjoy myself. Do it right. As my first bat,I hit a ground bottle short. I look up to the skybox and he's waving his hands. He goes, yes, yes. And I'm so pumped because I just hit a ground bottle short. I look up to the skybox and he's waving his hands. He goes, yes, yes. And I'm so pumped because I just hit a groundball of shortstop. And I'm so happy. I didn't get a hit, but I'm so happy. I did what he wanted me to do. Next time bad, I hit a flybottle left. He's going up like this. He's like, you're right on it. You're right on it. The next day and the next day, three for four, two for four, my rookie slump was over. That's amazing.

Speaker 112625.46s - 2629.02s

So he got you away from being results focused.

Speaker 22629.42s - 2630.1s

Result focused.

Speaker 72630.24s - 2635.48s

All you wanted was a hit. I was trying to do so much getting traded from Adrian Gonzalez PERSON there.

Speaker 52635.72s - 2638.86s

I wanted to just, I wanted to hit three home runs and one at that.

Speaker 112639.4s - 2653.68s

And that's what he was trying to do. He was trying to tell me, it's a long season. That ain't going to happen. You need to hit the ball the other way. You need to do it right. And then you need to make some adjustments. That's the only way you're going to do. He was trying to tell me, it's a long season. That ain't going to happen. You need to hit the ball the other way. You need to do it right. And then you need to make some adjustments. That's the only way you're going to do it. If you're in the big leagues, you've got to adjust pitch by pitch, not day by day. He would always tell me that.

Speaker 22654.06s - 2656.02s

That's so cool. And I came in this morning

Speaker 112656.02s - 2658.04s

and I saw that, man. And I go, Benny PERSON,

Speaker 22658.78s - 2664.12s

explain it to me. Like, what was your takeaway from that? And now hearing it again for the second

Speaker 02664.12s - 2671.78s

time I go. It does make perfect sense. Like you never want to celebrate an 0-4, but like he said, there's a right way to do it in a wrong way.

Speaker 22672.08s - 2692s

So instead of thinking about anything else, anything else, the crowd in the stands, the fact that he got traded for Adrian PERSON, I'm not trying to hit a home run here. I'm just trying to hit a ground ball to shortstop. It is so, if that doesn't show you how mental that game is, and probably a little bit of what Zander PERSON's going through right now,I mean, that's such a... It's a great

Speaker 122692s - 2701.58s

story after the fact. I do know that the way things work nowadays. If Zander ever came to the ballpark and told, like, the media before the game, he goes, yeah, I'm just trying to go

Speaker 22701.58s - 2728.3s

for four tonight. I just want to go the other way with it. I'll do you want better. We grounders to shore. People would lose their minds. This is a real game. They're playing the Dodgers ORG.You can't try to go over four. How about Don Orsillo goes down to Zander PERSON. It says, Meet Me Tomorrow at 11 a.m. And he shows up and there's Don PERSON with his bat and his batting gloves. And he tells him, you're doing it wrong, man. This is how you need to do it.I'll do you one better. Don Orsillo, hitting coach, San Diego GPE.

Speaker 122728.34s - 2735.54s

I don't know. If Don PERSON shows up, I want him just to have like a pan of seabass ready for him. On your locker?

Speaker 22735.78s - 2737.18s

Oh, Don PERSON, that's so nice.

Speaker 122737.8s - 2741.7s

Don made me sea bass to get me out of my slump from Don Antangelo PERSON.

Speaker 22741.94s - 2745.64s

During that clip, though, I was thinking about it as far as, like, golf goes.

Speaker 32745.8s - 2747.5s

And, like, Woods PERSON, you and I are not good at golf.

Speaker 02747.54s - 2747.72s

No.

Speaker 22747.8s - 2749.78s

And we spray the ball all over the course.

Speaker 52750.12s - 2760.26s

And I'm thinking, all right, if I'm in that mode, and I just cannot hit the ball straight. But Ben PERSON was like, I want you to shank it right. Right. And I shanked it right. I'd be like, yes, I did it.

Speaker 22760.64s - 2766.5s

I tried to do something and I did it. That would totally change how I was thinking about it.

Speaker 32766.5s - 2773.38s

That's the gist right there, man. And what an unconventional thing to tell a player? Super counterintuitive. Correct.

Speaker 22773.98s - 2777.42s

But man, that is so, so good. Such good stuff this morning.

Speaker 122777.58s - 2799.9s

All right, we'll get to the matchups of the series a little bit later. When we come back, though, speaking of golf, it is time to reveal the details for our third annual-ish. Ben and Woods PERSON open. We will tell you what is what when we come back and then play a little take on Woods PERSON as well. One hour in the books on a Friday, Ben of Woods on San Diego's number one sports station,973, the fan.
