Last time we went live was Sunday night, Mark Pope following that incredible press conference. And it just feels like there is some excitement, but tension in the air from both Arkansas fans and Kentucky ORG fans as to like, when is this thing going to get going? Both players, both schools have one commitment right now, and everybody's trying to figure out what's next. So we're going to talk about what's next with staffing, with recruiting in the portal,with both Arkansas and Kentucky ORG coming up. We will do a standard portal segment. Listen, this thing is moving fast and furious, but I think after I did my Monday night segment on the portal, that's when things went crazy. Jeremy Roach, starting point guard at Duke ORG is now in the portal. Aidan Mahaney PERSON.I got some interesting information on him earlier today. Oh, by the way, Yukon ORG picks up a very nice commitment out of the portal as well. Not the only Biggie school to have a good day in the portal. So we'll talk Arkansas, Kentucky ORG portal. And we might even end on a little non-collegehoop stuff. For people who are new to the show, I don't just talk college hoops. I obviously host Fox Sports Radio ORG, so I feel pretty comfortable talking everything. And we have to potentially talk about this crazy Jonte Porter story suspended for life from the NBA ORG. Also, the college football portal is open. I don't think we're going to go too crazy on it, but Cormani McLean PERSON, Mr.you know, Coach Prime's first big commit, he is out at Colorado ORG. I think there's an interesting angle there. But again, today the focus will be on college basketball because there is so much going on. And so with that said, it is Wednesday night. There is no more time to waste.And let's get to the topic of the day. And the topic of the day, well, listen, listen, I told you the night. I remember where I was, what I was doing the night that John Caliperi PERSON officially accepted the Arkansas job. I said, we are going to have so much content going forward. Kentucky ORG at the time needed a new head coach. Both teams needed 11, 12, 13 players potentially going forward. And so I said we are going to talk about both of these programs a lot. I know whenever we talk Kentucky ORG, Arkansas fans get mad. I know whenever we talk Arkansas, Kentucky fans get mad. But these two programs forthe foreseeable future are going to be intertwined. Obviously, when Arkansas takes Kentucky ORG's head coach, when Arkansas frankly is probably going to have six, seven, eight, nine guys on their roster that either played at Kentucky ORG or were committed to Kentucky, there is no way that we can separate the two going for. And so what I want to do today, I just want to spend a little time on each program talkingabout where we are right now. Each program has one player committed as of 7-11 Eastern time on Wednesday, April 17th. This stuff changes quick. But I think both programs are kind of sitting there saying, what's next toores? When are we going to get some piece of news?My buddy John Napers, who hosted Arkansas ORG. He's tweeted about nine days in a row. This is about to be the craziest day ever, and it hasn't been. And so what I want to do is get you caught up on what is going on. What is next for both of these programs?I do think we will start with Arkansas and their head coach, John Calipery. By the way, I've seen it in the YouTube ORG comments. I know I'm going to call John Calipari, Kentucky's coach, at least 2,000 times between now and the time he retires. But forgive me, there is going to be a lot of tripping up because this story is still surreal to me. With that said, let's start with Arkansas ORG. And I think Arkansas ORG is the right place to start for this very simple reason.They're just bluntly a little bit further along in the process. Obviously, John Caliperi accepts that job about four or five days before Kentucky ORG fills its vacancy. John Calipari PERSON, obviously we knew was probably going to be able to bring more players with him potentially between the players that were on that Kentucky ORG roster and players that were committed to Kentucky ORG. And so it feels like they're just a day two, three, four ahead of Mark Pope and Kentucky ORG.And I want to start with Arkansas ORG. First of all, good news. Arkansas ORG, congratulations. As of 713 Eastern Time, y'all got one player. We talked about it on Monday night. But Big Z, Z, Zvonavir Evisich, is officially an Arkansas ORG razorback.Okay. And so first off, I think there is a lot of reason for Arkansas ORG fans to be excited about this player. We actually did a full video on the YouTube channel. If you're an Arkansas ORG fan and you missed it, we put it on the podcast feed Tuesday morning as well.I think you should be excited if you're an Arkansas ORG fan. Now listen, Kentucky ORG people will tell you, oh, he's not that good. And Cal PERSON didn't use him right? Whatever, bottom line.The bottom line is this. First of all, I am not surprised that he followed Cala Perry to Arkansas ORG. See, there was the first slip right there. I'm not surprised Big Z followed Cal to Arkansas ORG, okay? Listen, I know what Kentucky ORG fans did for this kid, Billboard in Indianapolis when the NCAA ORG issues popped up.But John Caliperi PERSON was the coach that believed in Big Z. John Calipari PERSON was the coach that believed in Big Z. John Calipari was the coach that fought to bring him to the United States. John Calipari PERSON, by the way, was the guy who fought his own admissions department at his old school to get Big Z in. And so I always felt like Big Z was going to follow him. I know the night of the Mark Pope PERSON press conference, there was a picture of Big Z in the facility. And so you thought maybe Big Z would stay, but he briefly met with Mark Pope PERSON press conference, there was a picture of Big Z in the facility. And so you thoughtmaybe Big Z would stay, but he briefly met with Mark Pope. And on Monday night, he ends up committing to Arkansas. Not going to spend a ton of time. We already did a reaction video. But listen, I think the kid has a chance to be really, really good at Arkansas ORG. I know what everyone will say, oh, Cal misused him last year and how good could he be? He only played 11 and a half minutes. Well, remember, he played 11 and a half minutes. He came in in August because Kentucky ORG had no idea what they were going to get out of their frontquarter year. You go, listen, everybody wants to blame Cal PERSON for everything. But he in the middle of the summer lost two starting setters in Aaron Bradshaw and Agana PERSON and Yenzo PERSON. And so because of it, he basically had to on the fly find a seven footer out of nowhere. So he gets Big Z to campus.Then Bradshaw PERSON gets healthy. Anienzo PERSON gets healthy. Trey Mitchell gets to campus. And all of a sudden there's a log jam at the four and the five spots. And so listen, one of the benefits I think think, of John Calipari PERSON starting over at Arkansas is that he is going to have a chance to build this team, how he wants completely from scratch withthe players that he wants. And obviously, he's not going to be beholden to getting, you know, a couple players, you know, here, there, or keeping players or keep him. No, no, no. Cal PERSON has always been a guy that he has been at his best when he has about a seven, eight-man rotation. He had way too many guys this year. And I think there's a chance that Big Z is really good for Arkansas next year.Remember, not only did he come late, didn't get eligible until early to mid-January after SEC ORG play started, but in the games in which Cal PERSON rode him, Big Z was really good, okay? So first off, and again, I promise we won't spend too much time on Big Z, but 13 points, five rebounds, three blocks, three three-pointers made in that opener against Georgia, 18 points in the win against Bama, you know, 12 points in a win, ironically,against Arkansas late in the year at Rupp Arena FAC. And I've referenced this a few times, but he was kind of the X factor in that win against Mississippi State in which Reed Shepard PERSON hit the buzzer beat. Big Z controlled the paint against that tough physical Mississippi State ORG team, three blocks, 21 minutes of play, probably defensively his best game. And so you give him a whole offseason.You give him a whole off season in a strength and conditioning program. And I believe Big Z is going to be really good at Arkansas ORG. So he's the first Razorback. Now let's talk about what's next. We already talked about him. I know I went a little long there.Forgive me. But let's go ahead and talk about what is potentially next for the Razorbacks ORG. And what I would tell you is this, is that I think we will hear another commitment at Arkansas ORG. I believe personally, you know, listen, I have no personal insight into this, but I feel very confident that we will get a commitment from at Arkansas ORG over the next, I think 24 to 36 hours with the Razorbacks ORG.Why do I say that? Well, first of all, as everybody knows by now, of the five players that were committed to John Calipari at Kentucky, of the six players, excuse me, five have decommitted and asked out of their letters of intent if they've signed. Boogie Flan did it on Monday. Billy Richmond did it on Tuesday.Jane and Quaintance did it last week. Sompto Surrill and also Carter Knox PERSON as well. So why do I feel like we're going to get a commitment in the next couple weeks, in the next couple days, excuse me? Did you see where Cala Perry was on Tuesday afternoon? So overtime elite, it's that prep school-ish thing in Atlanta. They had kind of an NBA ORG-like combine, brought in a bunch of coaches, got access to their players, this, that, the other thing, colleges and pro scouts.Why do I bring it up? Two of the players that were committed to Kentucky ORG under Caliperi that have since decommitted and asked out of their letters of intent, Carter Knox and Sompto Surrill PERSON were both there. Carter Knox PERSON 6-6-6-Wing, he of course of the famous chicken man emoji in his Instagram bio, Sampto Cyril 6-9, 610, bruiser down low, who actually tested really well.People were sending me videos of him with 35, 36 inch vertical leap. And I just bring it up because those are two guys that, you know, we're committed to Kentucky ORG, are now not committed to Kentucky. But I just bring it up to say that I don't think that John Calipari PERSON is making that visit unless he feels very comfortable with both players or at the very least one incoming, right? Cal PERSON's not dumb. Cal's not stupid. Cal isn't going somewhere to recruit a player that he has no chance at. And so my guess is that was probablyto cross the eyes and dot the T's. You see pictures of him with Chin Coleman, one of his lead assistants at Kentucky ORG. You assume, by the way, that Chin Coleman is probably coming with him to Arkansas ORG. I know Matt Norlander put it out the other day. So Chin Coleman and Calipari PERSON roll through the OTE event. Again, two former Kentucky ORG commits. One officially sign a letter of intent.Both asked out are there. I feel pretty good that both are going to end up at Arkansas with Calipari PERSON. What gets interesting to me, what about the other guys that were committed to Calipari at Kentucky ORG? So in total, there were five. We just mentioned Carter Knox and Santo Sorrell PERSON, both at overtime elite. Well, it's interesting because Jade Inquaintance, number one center in America GPE,Boogie Flan, five-star McDonald's All-American Guard ORG, and Billy Richmond PERSON have all asked out of their letters of intent. But at least two of them have publicly basically said, we're open this thing up and we're really looking at all our options. So first off, I want to go ahead and give a quick shout out to somebody that I did not think I would be shouting out. But it looks like new Louisville head coach Pat Kelsey might be the Thorn in John Calipary's side on some of these kids more than, more than Mark Pope in Kentucky ORG will be.That is because Jaden Quaintentin PERSON, after opening his recruitment, is set to visit Louisville this week. Listen, I don't know where it all came from. I don't know what all the deal is with all of that. But the fact is that this kid has opened his recruitment, and it's actually Louisville that will be getting his first visit,that will be getting his first visit, that will be getting his first visit in the, in the very near future. So Louisville and Pat Kelsey are getting that first visit. Oh, by the way, Boogie Flan PERSON, producer Matt, go ahead and pop up Boogie Flan. He spoke with Paul B. and Cardi today, Boogie Flan, and according to Paul Bion Cardi PERSON, this is what he said. I am back to square one. I am open to hearing about other schools.This is the second time around, so it will be more of a straightforward process. NIL ORG definitely plays a part, but the basketball and coaches are most important. Wherever I go, understand that I have to earn my playing time, I will look to set up visits soon. Here are some of the schools that have reached out. Louisville, just mentioned, Alabama GPE, Arkansas, Kentucky, Florida State, Pittsburgh, St. John's, Illinois, Providence ORG, and Seton Hall. Thank you, producer, Matt. I appreciate that. So with Boogie Flan PERSON, it's really interesting. So again, Jane Inquaint's number one center in America is set to visit Louis. I stillthink the ties to Calipari and Arkansas ORG are very good, but you just don't know if he is considering other schools. Boogie Flan PERSON to me, it's the exact same thing. It feels like he is truly open. Now, I was told when this all started, he was going to stay loyal to Cal, going to follow to Arkansas ORG,but it sounds like he really is open to other options. He's from New York GPE. So is St. John's ORG a factor? Listen, Rick Petino has been very open about this NIL ORG world. Mike Rapoli, their lead donor, has said, I will give whatever it takes in NIL ORG to help St. Johns put the best basketball product on the floor.Again, also want to give a credit to Pat Kelsey, the head coach at Louisville ORG, because the reports are that Louisville ORG has been as aggressive as anyone in trying to get this kid to campus. And so we will see what happens from there. It sounds like both these kids, Jaden Quaintance and Boogie Flan PERSON really are, to their credit, taking their time, factoring in everything everything and seeing what options are out there.Listen, they should. This is a life decision, right? You obviously had a years-long relationship with, you had a years-long relationship with John Calipery and that staff. But this is your future. This is your life. I will never blame a kid for looking at all of his options.And I'd be very curious to see if there is a scenario where these kids end up somewhere other than Arkansas ORG. Billy Richmond, by the way, the fifth guy that I've mentioned, he's from Memphis GPE. His dad played for Calipari at Memphis GPE. And so he actually transferred high schools to play in Camden, New Jersey GPE. We'll be curious. Kind of right across the border, does it make sense?Arkansas, close to home in Memphis GPE. We'll see what happens there. I still feel like the two OTE kids, Sampto Surrill and Carter Knox PERSON, are probably the two most likely to follow Calipari to Arkansas ORG. Really quickly, last thought on the Arkansas ORG stuff.First off, let me give Cal PERSON credit for this man. You know, he said even before he left Kentucky ORG, he said our goal is to be a little bit more balanced. We are always going to recruit the five stars. We're always going to recruit the one and duns. But at the same time, we also need to get older.We need to get older. We need to get older. We need to be in the portal a little bit more. And that's something that I think is Cal PERSON is seriously taking into account right now. So we've seen some schools. We've seen some names. Adam Zagoria referenced Jeremy Roach, the point guard from Duke ORG.We're going to do a full all-encompassing portal update here in just a moment. Again, I talked to Aiden Mahaney's former AAU coach, Ryan Silver, earlier in the day on whatever today is Wednesday, he said Aidan Mahady heard from Arkansas ORG, heard from a lot of the Blue Bloods, including Yukon, and we'll talk about all that later, Kentucky as well. But I give Cal PERSON credit. He is certainly being more aggressive in the portal. I still think he's going to take at least two,maybe more of those recruits from Kentucky to Arkansas ORG. And I think it'll be interesting to see what happens from there. Last, last, last thing on Arkansas ORG, I do want to switch gears to Kentucky ORG. Staff. So listen, we saw the Matt and Orlando report a few weeks ago or a few days after Caliperi took the Arkansas ORG job that most of the band would be following Calopary to Arkansas. Chin Coleman, as I said, was with him at that OTE event on Tuesday.Feels pretty safe to say Chin Coleman PERSON is staying with him. By the way, if you follow this stuff at all, Chin Coleman throughout the year kept calling him the goat. Listen, this is what the goat says. This is what the goat does. This is what the goat's going to do.So we are following the goats lead, Chin Coleman talking about John Caliperi PERSON in those reverential terms. Same time, Orlando Antigua PERSON is a man in demand. We've talked about him quite a bit. East Coast, Northeast, New York guy really played a pivotal role in a lot of Calo Perry's best recruits at Kentucky ORG early. He leaves to take a head coaching job, comes back the last three or four years with Cal PERSON.A couple interesting things. One, I've heard he is obviously being a free agent in heavy demand from some really good other programs. Don't know what his ultimate goal is. Don't know what his decision will be. But I do believe that he is being coveted by a lot of places. I've been told that, you know, and I've seen Kentucky's trying to retain him under Mark Pope PERSON.So we're going to talk about the Mark Pope stuff in a moment. But this cow stuff is fascinating. We will see they got Big Z. That's really all we really officially know right now. But again, I would expect some, I would expect some news, excuse me, in the coming days. What I want to do now. Do want to go ahead and switch gears and talk about things from the Kentucky ORG perspective because the bottom line is boy oh boy we you know we really haven't talked a ton of kentucky NORP since that incredible opening press conference from mark pope so there's a lot to peel back there's a lot to peel back. There's a lot to discuss. But first off, much like our boy Cala Perry, Mark Pope has one player under his belt. As we record right now, it is now 727 Eastern Time on Wednesday. That one player, Colin Chandler PERSON.We talked about him in a portal update on Tuesday night, but Colin Chandler is the first official Kentucky Wildcat to sign up to play under Mark Pope PERSON. Okay. So Colin Chandler, very interesting story, was a member of the class of 2022, has since gone on a two-year Mormon NORP mission, has not played college basketball.But when he was in the States, he was a top 30 or so prospect committed to BYU, the highest ranked recruit to ever commit to Mark Pope PERSON. And as I said on Tuesday night, I actually saw him play at the Pangoes ORG All-American camp several years ago, really good player. He's about six foot six, super athletic. I mean, he is a super athletic kid, switchable, can shoot, confident, attacks the rim. I really,really, really liked him. Now, the thing is, and I mentioned this on Tuesday, he is coming off a two-year Mormon NORP mission, okay? And I'm far from an expert on Mormon missions. Believe it or not, I think I'm an expert on a lot of things. One thing I know that I'm not an expert on is what goes on during these trips. But I did mention, I remember talking to Sam Merrill, who now plays in the NBA for the Cleveland Cavaliers ORG. He was a high school star, went to Utah State, took a Mormon NORP mission, came back.And I remember talking to him when he came back. And he said, look, I know there's this perception of what goes on. What's this? What's that? He goes, listen, it is all about the church when you are overseas. And as I said on Monday, on Tuesday night, this is not one of those deals where you go and do church stuff for an hour or two. Then you're working out with a trainer at night. No, this is minimalist living. I think if Sam Merrill PERSON told me correctly, he's like, I think you get like an hour a week of leisure activity. And I remember him saying like,dude, I was just trying to find a place to do sprints or do any sort of cardio. Like every once in a while I'd be somewhere where I had a basket and a hoop, but that wasn't really realistic. And so for Colin Chandler, he's basically been away from basketball for two years, if it's a similar experience to Sam Merrill PERSON. And because of it, I think it's going to take some time for him to adjust back to the college game, the speed of the game, all that good stuff.So for Kentucky ORG fans, I think the bottom line is, listen, I don't think this is one of those deals where you can expect him to just come back and, you know, he's going to be rocking and rolling and he's going to be the best version. He's going to be the star that he was back in 2022. Think it's going to take some time. Don't think it's going to be easy.Think if he is a major contributor next year, it'll probably be in like the January, February, March time frame, not the November 1st or November 5th or whenever the season opener is. But Mark Pope has his first player. What's interesting is right before I came on air, Mark Pope actually got his first assistant coach as well as Matt Jones, Kentucky Sports Radio put out that Corey Flugher PERSON, who has been withMark Pope PERSON since the beginning of his coaching career at Utah Valley, is now following him to, from BYU to Kentucky ORG. He's actually recruiting on behalf of Kentucky ORG already. Now, with the Kentucky staff, it's worth noting. Because of some state law stuff, a lot of stuff is happening behind the scenes. You can't officially announce anything. There's a window. I think it's either seven days from when Mark Pope PERSON gets hired or seven days from when the jobs post or whatever. But essentially, you can't just, hey, this is my staff today.It takes time for it to go public. But we know that Mark Pope PERSON is working behind the scenes. As a matter of fact, I heard he was more working on focusing on his staff rather than a recruiting class after he got to Kentucky ORG in that first 24 to 48 hour period. But Corey Flueger PERSON will follow him. Really sharp guy. I don't know a ton about him, but the people that I know who know him say he's super duper smart. A lot of the brains behind the operation with Mark Pope PERSON kind of work hand in hand. They've been working together for abouteight, nine years now. And I think he has a chance to have a direct impact on Kentucky ORG and the on the court product. In terms of the rest of the staff, everybody is kind of hush, hush, again, waiting for those, you know, waiting for that window of eight, nine, ten days or whatever it is, seven days, whatever it is to open up. You hear all sorts of things. There's rumors that Kenny Payne PERSON, the longtime Kentuckyassistant, former Louisville head coach could come to join Mark Pope's PERSON staff. I have not heard that. I have heard it's more likely he goes back to the NBA. But if you get Kenny PERSON paid, that is a shot across the bow, not just to John Cala Perry, who I know is trying to get him to Arkansas ORG as well. It's also a shot to the bow to Louisville ORG of like, okay, it may not have worked out as a head coach. But this is a guy that has throughout his career been a great recruiter and a great number two. And we just got one of the best number twos in all of college basketball.Now, is that going to happen? I don't know. Again, I'm trying to keep you updated in real time. If you're listening to the podcast on Wednesday or Thursday or Friday, I apologize, just trying to keep you updated in real time on what we know in this moment. And as of right now, I don't know that Kenny Payne PERSON is a real factor there. I saw some Jay Lucas stuff. Jay Lucas was an assistant under Calipari left for Duke ORG.You know, Jay Lucas PERSON would be an interesting one. First off, I've seen some ties with Jay Lucas and Jeremy Roach PERSON. I don't know that I necessarily believe that solely because Jeremy Roach was at Duke ORG before Jay Lucas PERSON was. And so it wasn't the guy that brought him there, wasn't the guy that this, wasn't the guy that that that. I will say if you can convince him to leave Duke, one, it's a great move.Two, it certainly won't hurt in the recruitment of Jeremy Roach PERSON. But I don't know that the two are tied. Like if you get Jay Lucas, you can get Jeremy Roach PERSON. I think if Jay Lucas PERSON were to leave, it's probably because Jay Lucas kind of sees, hey, Duke ORG's really good, but it ain't the same in the post coach K era. So we'll keep an update on that. I saw somebody reference Luke Murray PERSON, the Yukon assistant. Listen, Luke Murray, maybe I'm deadwrong. Luke Murray is a half a step away from being a head coach. I think if Yukon ORG wasn't playing so deep in the March each of the last two years, he might be a head coach already. Of course, when you're playing until early April, schools aren't going to wait for you because they got to get to work in the portal and building a roster. And so I don't know that it benefits Luke Marie at all to come to Kentucky ORG. My assumption is I know he's paid very well at Yukon ORG. My assumption is he stays at Yukon ORG until he gets a head coaching opportunity,which he will, by the way, a very, very, very talented player. Also, just a tiny little bit of buzz. We mentioned Orlando Antigua a minute ago. Could Mark Pope PERSON convince him to stay, which would be a big shot across the bow at Cala Perry PERSON?In terms of players, we talked about Colin Chandler PERSON. I think it's worth noting a couple things in terms of players. One, Pope PERSON doesn't have a staff together right now. And until he does, it's really hard to know. The other thing I would say, and I know it's not what Kentucky ORG fans want to hear, everything is about now in the moment this second, what's going on,what do we need to know, this, that, the other thing. But what I can tell you is, listen, Kentucky ORG fans, I know it's frustrating, but you have time. This is not John Caliperi PERSON, one in fun. This is not you need to bring in, you know, seven McDonald's All-Americans NORP and flip this rock. No, no, no. I think Mark Pope PERSON is really trying to build a program right now. He's trying to build a program, not just a basketball roster for2024, 2025. And that's not a shot at John Caliperi PERSON, right, by the way. I'm just speaking the truth is that I think it's about putting the right staff together. I think it's about evaluating the right high school guys, the right college guys, the right 2025 recruits. And so I would say to Kentucky ORG fans, be patient. This might be one of those things. To get the full roster that you want might drag into June,might drag into July. But that's not the worst thing because Mark Pope isn't building a one-year team for 2024, 2025. He is building a program. First off, I'll say this in terms of the players that have been pursued. Listen, I think it's tough because Mark Pope PERSON's rock and solo.Clearly, though, he has a type. Clearly, the focus is on skilled guys. You know, I saw Jacob Polichick PERSON, a good friend of mine, great, great, great young reporter from Kentucky Sports Radio ORG, said that Kentucky has reached out to Andres Stoyakovich PERSON, Pages' son, who played the last season at Stanford ORG.I tend to think he's more of a West Coast LOC kid. It came down to Stanford and UCLA ORG in his initial recruitment. I think it's interesting, by the way. I remember talking to him. He said he wanted to visit Yukon and wanted to visit Kentucky ORG. I could be mistaken.I'm pretty sure he didn't end up visiting either one. And so I think now that the Kentucky or the Stanford ORG staff is in place, it wouldn't totally shock me if he just decided, you know what, screw this. I'm just going to ride this out at Stanford ORG. I don't know that UCLA ORG is really a factor. UCLA took three commitments in the portal and already did a press release. That don't know that UCLA is really a factor. UCLA took three commitments in theportal and already did a press release. That to me means that they feel like they're probably done in the portal, but Stoyakovich PERSON is still available. He entered the portal probably a day or two after it opened and we haven't heard anything really tangible in his recruitment until this. Adam Mahaney PERSON, another school that reached out to him. The Kentucky ORG staff did. And so we'll see what happens with Aidan Mahaney PERSON.Amari Williams PERSON, we've talked about previously. Seven foot center. Really, that guy's more of a defensive player. It doesn't really fit in like the shooting three point spacing play that Mark Pope plays. But he's really good.If you have a chance to get him, I would take advantage. Then, of course, there's the BYU ORG kids in the portal. Ali Khalifa is apparently down to BYU, Louisville, and Kentucky ORG. We will see, supposedly took a visit to Louisville ORG. We'll see if he ends up at Kentucky ORG. You know, Dallin Hall's not coming to Kentucky ORG.Jackson Robinson PERSON's in the portal. By the way, somebody sent me something about Liam McNeely PERSON, the five-star McDonald's All-American who was committed to Kentucky ORG, then ended up decommitted, or was committed to Indiana GPE, excuse me, and then ended up decommitting.He's taking a visit to Yukon next week. I know Michigan ORG is very heavily pursuing him. I think it feels probably a little bit late for Kentucky ORG to get involved. Listen, I think the system would be great for him. But, you know, he's got a years-long relationship with John Cal PERSON. Well, he's got a years-long relationship,or probably basically he decommitted from Indiana about six weeks ago. Calipari and his staff when they were at Kentucky ORG reached out. So you obviously now have a relationship with Arkansas ORG. You've had a relationship with Yukon. Alabama GPE is trying to get into the mix. I just don't see Kentucky ORG being a factor there. So those are your updates on everything that's going on right now. I will say, I have said since February, I think there's a good chance Reed Shep Shepherd comes back even pre-Mark Pope PERSON, but the longer it goes, the more you wonder. Like if Reed Shepherd was 100% I'm coming back, feels like it's something he maybe would have already done by now to help recruit. I think the longer it goes, the more it potentially hurts his chances of coming back.I think it probably hurts a little bit. I think the biggest thing that's hurting Mark Pope PERSON right, he just doesn't have enough bodies. Listen, I'll tell you a quick side story. Nate Oates PERSON, people forget this. Last year, last off season,Nate Oates lost three assistant coaches to head coaching jobs, okay? And I asked him about this at the West Regional. They were playing in the West Regional against Carolina this year. I said, coach, a year ago, while you were putting together this roster that just went to the final four, you had zero assistant coaches with you.I said, how tough was? He started laughing. He's like, listen, I'm happy for all of my assistant coaches. But darn it, I wish they had it all gotten jobs at the same time. And so I think for Mark Pope PERSON, I think that's the biggest thing. It's just there's not enough hands on deck right now.There's not enough hands on deck ever when you go through a coaching search. But you have one, maybe two guys recruiting for you. Everybody else has a group of five. Remember, there are five assistant coaches plus the head coach that can recruit. So Yukon's got five. Whoever, UCLA's got five.Alabama's got five. And if that's the going rate, that is freaking insane, okay?And so I just bring it up because with Jeremy Roach PERSON, I think, listen, a high level veteran point guard who has one and one big in the ACC ORG, like what else could you say other than that dude will be a priority? So if those three are the early leaders, it makes a lot of sense that he is looking for the biggest bag. But I'll tell you this, he is right now, I think right up there with AJ Store PERSON as the best players in the portal right now. But what's interesting about it is those numbers are nearly identical to a year ago. Average the same number of points, 40% from 3 last year. So he actually took a little bit of a step back. And so a couple things about Aidan Mahaney PERSON. One, I think, listen, St. Mary's ORG the reality of it.Financially, they can't compete. Now it sucks. I get it. St. Mary's, they're a good team, top 25 program, but there's the financial component to it. Beyond that, and this is important, I think it's really tough to sell the style of play that St.Mary's wants to play because listen, a lot of people are like, oh, you know, it's one of the best programs, best development, how can you do that? How can you turn your back on them? It's like, I get it. But besides the financial component, it's not fun to play one of the slowest tempos in college basketball and to play for a team that doesn't score the basketball. St. Marys, I believe of every NCAA tournament team except for Virginia ORG, played theslowest tempo in college basketball this year. Average 74 points per game, whatever, I respect it. Now, he has two years of eligibility. So he's the kind of kid I could see being a fifth starter, a fourth starter, on a really good team next year. And then from there developing into a 17, 18 a night kind of guy two years from now, kind of like an Antonio Reeves maybe this year, Mark Sears PERSON. Very quickly, there was one commitment of note, and I'd be remiss if I did not talk about my guy Dan Hurley and the Yukon Huskies.So Yukon on Thursday after, I'm getting all my days confused. Wednesday afternoon, we usually don't record on Wednesday night, so forgive me. I'm getting all tripped up here. But Terrace Reed Jr. commits to Yukon on Wednesday night. And what stands out to me about this commitment, first of all, you want to know what theultimate flex is on a recruiting visit. It's not NIL. It's not your facility. It's not this. It's not that. You know what Terrace Reed did on his official visit to Yukon over the weekend?He went to the national championship parade in Harper GPE. There is no bigger flex than, hey, come this weekend for a national championship parade. But the one thing I'll say about this kid, first of all, 9.7 boards per game in the Big 10 this year as a sophomore at Michigan ORG. Michigan ORG finished in last place, but the thing that I give him credit for, every time I watch him, he plays really hard.He plays really hard average about a block and a half per game. And I do think if you're going to play for Dan Hurley PERSON, there's no cutting corners, there's no sidestepping things. It is about full speed ahead. Are you ready to compete? I think he gets it.I think he understands it. And based on what I've seen, even in a bad situation, he played really hard. I think there's something to play for that. The other thing, and this is super obvious if you're a Yukon ORG fan, but this is important, is he, what I really give him credit for is also he coming in allows Yukon ORG to continue to play the way that they have had success over the last two years. What has led Yukon ORG to back-to-backnational championships? It's a lot of things. But one of the things that has allowed them to continue to have success is the fact that is the fact that they have had that two big man rotation. Two years ago was Adama Sonogo with Donovan Klingin PERSON off the bench. This past year, it was Donovan Klingin as the starter with Samson Johnson PERSON off the bench. Well, Samson Johnson's coming back next year. Terris Reed PERSON is coming in.Now, Terrace Reed is not Donovan Klingin PERSON, and I don't want to claim that he will be. But I've seen a lot of Adama Sonogo ORG cops, and I think that's probably pretty fair. Well, guess what? Domasonoga is an NBA player, played in the NBA this year for the Chicago Bulls ORG. And so I look at this situation. I think this perfectly allows, I think this perfectly allows Yukon ORG to continue to play that two big system.And then to Jacob's question earlier, I think Yukon ORG's still in the mix for a lot of different pieces. And listen, I love college hoops, but I am not solely a college hoops guy. One, I'd be remiss. I got to talk this crazy Jonte Porter story out of the NBA ORG. Okay. So I'm sure everybody has seen it by now. But Jontay Porter, the brother of Michael Porter Jr. PERSON, has been suspended indefinitely, for the rest of it's not even indefinitely, a career suspension for the NBA ORG because he bet on all of his own games.Okay? And so this is directly from ESPN ORG. Porter PERSON revealed information about his own health to a known sports better ahead of a March 20th game against the Sacramento Kings ORG. Another better privy to the information placed in $80,000 same game parlay that featured unders on Porter statistics and would win at $1.1 million.Porter played three minutes before leaving the game with an illness. The bet placed at Draft Kings was not paid. So there's some other stuff. You know, Porter PERSON had bets made in an account not in his name. Let me say this. I've been out of the loop with what the discourse is,what the conversation is on this specific topic. But I'm sure by now somebody has made the argument that the lifetime ban is too much. Let me say this. Everybody who listens to this show thinks I hate Adam Silver, I hate the NBA ORG. Let me give Adam Silver PERSON credit on this. I understand that, you know, outside of the TV networks, the gambling companies are his biggest corporate partner.But this is Adam Silver PERSON having a backbone and this needed to be done. If you hear somebody in the media, try to make the argument that this is somehow incorrect, that Jonte Porter PERSON does not deserve a life ban, ignore them, okay? We have talked about this so many times. We talked about this with Calvin Ridley two years ago with the NFL ORG. The bottom line, what I truly believe on sports betting by professional athletes is this.First off, while the leagues are making a ton of money off of the sports betting companies, guess what? Guess who splits the revenue with the league? So it benefits NBA players from having a deal with draft kings and Fandul ORG and bet MGM and whoever else is an official gambling partner of the NBA ORG. So don't tell me it's just the owner's getting rich.It's just the TV company's getting rich. It's just Adam Silver PERSON getting rich. The players are getting rich off of this too. But beyond that, and this is the part that frustrates me, is that basically, and I've said this many times, and I said it with Calvin Ridley, there is basically two rules that professional athletes have to live by. You just follow these two rules. You're good.The two rules are, don't do something so dumb that you are in jail at kickoff or tip off. That's number one. You can do pretty much anything. And if you're good enough, you can get away with it. I'm not going to go through all the crimes of all the players in the history of sports. Remember, I won't even go there.But Google Kobe Bryant's PERSON legal history did some stuff, settled out of court. I get all that. But the point I'm trying to make is that basically just don't do something so stupid that you end up in jail. And the number two rule, don't bet on your sport and don't bet on yourself. It's that simple. By the way, you can bet out other sports if you love to bet.If you love to gamble, if you even, and we take seriously that when we say like, please gamble responsibly, we mean it on this show. I'm not, you know, I don't want to ever be the reason that somebody does something dumb with money that they don't have. But even if you love to gamble, you can bet if you're an NBA player on the NFL ORG, on Major League Baseball ORG, on college football, on tennis, on golf, I believe even on collegebasketball, the one thing you can't do is bet on the NBA ORG and you certainly can't bet on props involving yourself. You simply cannot do that because it calls into question the integrity of everything everyone's watching. And that is just so completely unacceptable. By the way, how dumb is it?Jonte Porter PERSON. Of course it is going to be flagged. If an $80,000 bet comes in on a Jonte Porter PERSON over under prop, okay? Even Floyd Mayweather's like, don't think I'm spending that much money on a Jante Porter PERSON over under. Dayport noise, betting a million dollars on everything on Scotty Schepleur and Yukon ORG.He ain't bet a million or 100,000 or 10,000 on a Jontay Porter PERSON over under. So it was so stupid. There's no excuse. I don't feel bad. I just don't know what else there is to say. Now right now, college basketball is the only thing that matters to us. But I just bring it up because the college football portal is open as well. Now, listen, I don't have time to cover both. I try to follow it. We will obviously be covering it as we get out of the college basketball cycle. June, July, we'll start to ramp up the college footballcoverage. But the portal is crazy right now in football as well. And there was one player that I do think it transcends just being a college football fan. And that was the news on Wednesday night, Tuesday night, that Cormati McLean PERSON, the former five-star defensive back, number one cornerback in the class of 2023, announced he is going to transfer. Okay.And so I want to talk about it really quick because one, it's Coach Prime PRODUCT and nobody likes Coach Prime PRODUCT. Now I'm a big Coach Prime PRODUCT guy. I believe in his mission and his vision. I don't think that it's perfect. I think that at times he does and says things regrettable, but guess what?So do I. So does my wife. So does my mom. So does my dad. Nobody is perfect. But I believe in Coach Prime's mission. And I'm kind of disappointed to see the way that this ended. Okay. Cormani came in with an insane amount of hype. We get it. A year after Travis Hunter PERSON, you look at the hype with Travis Hunter. You look at the hype with Cormani McLean PERSON. But the second he gets to campus, you can just see. This ain't Travis Hunter PERSON. You look at the hype with Travis Hunter. You look at the hype with Cormonnie McLean. But the second he gets to campus, you can just see. This ain't Travis Hunter. And from the beginning, there were issues with his work ethic, with his accountability, with his responsibility. I'm not saying it's all his fault. But go back and watch that Amazon ORG Coach Prime doc. There's a very vivid scene in training camp last year where Coach prime is on a golf cart with his ad rickgeorge rich george says how's the kid come along i think coach prime says something the effect of if there was a he's not on the first team he's not on the second team he's on the third team because that's the lowest it goes if there was a fifth team he'd be on the fifth team and rick george was kind of taken aback by it kind of like really and so from the beginning there was talks about his attitude, his work ethic, being prepared, being on time. Coach Prime PERSON addressed it. If you remember about week four, week five, when Colorado ORG still had things rolling.I think it was when Travis Hunter got hurt against Colorado State ORG. Somebody asked Coach Prime at a press conference, like, hey, Coach Prime, now that Travis is hurt, is, is, is, is Cormani PERSON going to play? And basically, Coach Prime PERSON said, no, because he's not putting in the work that needs to be done. He's not going into, he's not putting in the work that needs to be done. Here is the exact quote, if I can find it right here. he's not putting in the work that needs to be done.Here is the exact quote, if I can find it right here. He said, let's see if I can find it real quick. I can't find it. I can't find it unfortunately. But, oh, here it is. Here it is right here. So this is what Dionne Sanders PERSON said when he was asked about if CormonnieMcLean would get more playing time after Travis Cunner PERSON got hurt. He said, what does he have to do to get on the field? Here was what Coach Prime PERSON said. Study and prepare. Be on time for meetings. Show up for meetings.Understand the scheme. I checked film time from each player so I can see who's preparing. So if I don't see that you would be, if I don't see that, you would be a fool to put somebody out there who's not prepared. That goes for all of our players. Now admittedly, by the end of the year,Cormani did get some reps. I remember that USC ORG game, he had a couple really nice plays, but at the end of the day, it was an issue of accountability and responsibility that was holding him back. By the way, I remember Travis Hunter even making some comments during the season of he's young, he's trying to figure out, he's going to do this, he's going to do that. And so when I look at this situation, I think it's easy to rag on Coach Prime PERSON. I know how the season ended. They started 3 and 0, they finished 4 and 8.I'm not great at math, but that means they went 1 and 8 in their last nine games. But at the same time, the thing that I respect about Coach Prime PERSON is he is trying to elevate all of these young men, not only as football players, but as young men. all of these young men, not only as football players, but as young men. And so, um, and so, uh, when I, uh, you know, when I see this whole situation, I feel bad for Cormon McLean, but this isn't, this isn't an L for Dion Sanders. This isn't an L for Colorado ORG. This isn't poke fun at coach prime. This is Coach Prime PERSON trying to raise a young man into a man.This is Coach Prime PERSON trying to turn him from boy to man. And I saw this quote from Coach Prime PERSON when asked about him. He said, I pray to God, this is Cormani McLean PERSON. I pray to God that he goes to a program that challenges him as well as holds him accountable and develops him as a young man. Unfortunately, we weren't that program that could accomplish that.And so I know everybody wants to poke at Coach Prime PERSON. And oh my goodness. Oh, we weren't that program that could accomplish that. And so I know everybody wants to poke at Coach Prime. And oh my goodness. Oh, Colorado ORG. No, first of all, I think Colorado is going to be better than people think this year. I truly in my heart, honestly believe that. I think they're deeper. I think they're more talented. If you follow the college football portal, they actually address the O lines and D lines. I don't think they're going 11 and 1. I think they're going to be above 500.I think they're going to be 7 and 5, 8, and 4. I mean that in my heart. This isn't a bash coach prime thing, though. He's trying to hold this kid accountable, and the kid, I guess, just wasn't ready. I've seen some reports that USC could be in the mix. I've seen some reports that some of the schools in Florida, maybe South Florida LOC, could be in the mix.Whatever Cormani McLean PERSON decides, I wish him luck, just like I know Coach Prime PERSON does. But man, oh man, it is a little bit disappointing to see how this thing ended. And some of the people that are toughest on you also have your best interest in heart.I tell my wife this all the time. Well, we don't have kids, but we talk about, you know, friends and family and whatever. I would say,if I'm ever a father, listen, tough love is still love. And I think Coach Prime was trying to show some tough love to Cormani McLean PERSON. I hope Cormonie McLean PERSON knows that it is love and that it wasn't his best interest. And it's unfortunate to see this ending.
